 Impact Wrestling has been close for a while... close to be taken out behind the woodshed. But with a slew of talent releases in WWE, they called a hard reset to the brand as Eric Bischoff and company bought the company. And Bischoff has completely changed the company. Rumored to be what would've happened to WCW in 2001 with a "Big Bang," Bischoff wants to carry that idea out now. Bischoff bought the company in late June and immediately began contacting talents to wrap them in for the Big Bang PPV on January 1, 2022. WWE continued making releases to the company and Bischoff continued signing people immediately as they were released. Bischoff even began paying these talent as soon as they signed to keep revenue in their pockets, while also allowing them to take other appearances. Some appeared in AEW, New Japan, Mexico, and across the indies. One thing was for sure, Bischoff wanted to bring Impact back to prominence. The under-the-radar acquisition was acquiring the rights to the name "Total Nonstop Action" so the company will now go back to the TNA branding. BIG BANG PPV
TNA has announced the Big Bang PPV on New Year's Day 2022 will be unlike any other seen before.
They confirm there is only 1 confirmed match for the entire show:
a 30-man Gauntlet Battle Royale for the vacant TNA Impact World Championship.
The match will begin with 5 men in the ring. Every 4 minutes, a new 5 will enter. This will be until 21-25 enter.
#26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 will all enter alone every 3 minutes.
Eric Bischoff says his strategy is to start fresh, not announcing anyone for the show because fans need to "expect anything." |
