The Story of The World Wrestling Network
After serving out his exclusive non-compete clause with Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling, Jim Crockett Jr. launched the World Wrestling Network as a new national wrestling promotion to compete with both the World Wrestling Federation and World Championshp Wrestling. Crockett began enlisting former WCW and WWF talents to fill out his roster, including Paul Heyman who worked as Paul E. Dangerously. Heyman, who had recently left on bad terms with WCW. Jim Crockett was going to work alongside Paul Heyman and Tod Gordon to exchange talent with the Eastern Championship Wrestling. The National Wrestling Alliance was trying to make a comeback and was going to use Crockett’s new promotion as one of its flagship companies much like Jim Crockett Promotions was for years.
Former WWF stars like Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Road Warrior Hawk, The Convict (Nailz) and Bob Orton Jr. combined with ECW talent like Tommy Dreamer, Sabu and The Tasmaniac (Taz) were all on hand for the first show. Crockett and Heyman quickly began butting heads over the creative direction of the promotion. Crockett wanted to keep it a old school style of pro wrestling while Heyman wanted to modernize the wrestling action. The creative differences between Crockett and Heyman and Tod Gordon proved too much and Heyman left the WWN to focus on ECW.
The monthly World Wrestling Network PPVs will posted.

A rivalry between the World Wrestling Network and the World Wrestling Federation appears to have broken out, with some insiders calling it an “all out war” scenario. A new alliance seems to have been created recently, with the breaking news that World Wrestling Network and WAR have agreed to potentially share talent in the future. Rumours says a handshake deal was made when Jim Crockett Jr. and Genichiro Tenryu, the respective owners, met up recently. Tenryu had a brief stint in Jim Crockett Promotions in the 80s. Tenryu's most high-profile North American match was for the World Wrestling Federation in 1991 at WrestleMania VII, where he teamed with Koji Kitao to defeat Demolition. He also appeared in both the 1993 Royal Rumble. Rumour is that Jim Crockett Jr. want Tenryu as a credible foreign challenger for the the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
Former wrestler Tommy Gilbert joins the World Wrestling Network as a road agent. It is speculated that his sons Eddie Gilbert and Doug Gilbert are on their way in. Both left ECW after not agreeing with Paul Heyman on ECW's way forward. Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy has signed for the World Wrestling Network. Jim Crockett Jr. is rumoured to also be chasing “Dr. Death” Steve Williams so that the NWA can build the tag team division around the hard-hitting tag team when they're between All Japan tours.
