On the last week of december (2005) Brock Lesnar informed NJPW management that he would no longer defend his IWGP Heavyweight title. After some negotiations, he was released from the company. After this event and the colossal failure NJPW have been lately, a new managament has been put in place while a deal to buy New Japan was being finalized. The company will be acquired by Bushiroad (70%), TV Asahi (15%), Yuke's (10%) and Amuse (5%). Tatsumi Fujinami will lead this new venture starting a new position in the backstage as a road agent leader while also bringing some big names to work with. The first event will be the traditional January 4th at Tokyo Dome event with a completely new redesigned card headlined by Hiroshi Tanahashi and Shinsuke Nakamura in a battle for the vacant IWGP Heavyweight belt. NJPW also announced a complete new take on the IWGP U30 championship. With the creation of NEVER, acronym for " New Blood", " Evolution", " Valiantly", " Eternal", and " Radical", the comapany plans to focus this new brand 100% on the development of under 30 talents. After Tanahashi vacated the title to pursue new challenges, the newly named NEVER Openweight was revealed to be up for grabs in a match between Katsuyori Shibata and Naofumi Yamamoto.

I'm really interested by this as the time period can be a life-changer for NJPW. I also like that you chose to introduce the NEVER Openweight Title, as it used to be my favorite title some years ago and in 2006, the roster is filled with potential candidates for the typically still NEVER division matches.
Btw, what's the DB you're using? Thanks!

I am really hyped up for this save, that being the reason I rebooked New Year Dash to better suit my plans for the future haha. I like the NEVER Openweight also, but I'll be using the original take on the title, focusing on the young guys below 30, problably after they return from international excursions. I'm using the 2006 database available at the BetheBooker TEW 2020 Index with some little adjustments.

Oh you're doing the same era that I'm doing in my other thread. Only mine pretty much started as fantasy booking Brock Lesnar's IWGP title run and developed from there. I should pick it up again sometime.
