Event: AJPW Champion Carnival - Day 2 Date: Sunday, March, Week 1, 1999Attendance: 2,000 in Korakuen Hall (NO VACANCY!!!)TV Rating: 6.93 (5,198,550 viewers) on Nippon TV Show Rating: 90 A
The show starts off as per usual with the NTV sports march blasting In a good match, Nobuhiko Takada defeated Yoshihiro Takayama in 17:40 by pinfall.
A nasty technical brawl as expected by 2 opposing factions as Sternness has also annoyed the Triangle of Power on it's way to dominance here.
Rating: 79 B (Note these 2 didn't click)
In a decent match, Takao Omori defeated Tsuyoshi Kikuchi in 5:40 by pinfall with an Axe Bomber.
Omori didn't need to cheat or anything he just...won...handily against Kikuchi who has basically all but size moved up to heavyweight...
Maybe his defeat against his factions leader set something off in Takao?
Rating: 75 B-
In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Toshiaki Kawada defeated Yoshinari Ogawa in 12:01 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.
Ogawa, as per usual, attempted a lot of roll ups and cheap tactics to get an edge on Kawada.
Kawada eventually got annoyed and kicked the face of Ogawa before Backdropping him for the win but still Kawada seems off at the start of this tournament.
Rating: 79 B
In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Minoru Suzuki defeated Steve Williams in 14:06 by pinfall with a Gotch-Style Piledriver.
A hard hitting match between these 2, Williams suffered a fractured cheek bone and we are unsure if he will be able to finish the Champion Carnival now.
Rating: 83 B+ (Note these 2 didn't click)
In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Gary Albright defeated Akira Maeda in 6:33 by pinfall.
Albright basically dominated the entire match as Maeda didn't get much offense.
Rating: 63 C
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Takeshi Morishima defeated Mitsuharu Misawa in 21:46 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.
WHAT AN UPSET, MORISHIMA JUST DEFEATED THE ACE OF AJPW IN HIS 2ND CHAMPION CARNIVAL MATCH!!! Williams and Takayama help up Morishima after the biggest win of his AJPW career and pat him on the back and raise the big boy up on their shoulder as he remains undefeated early on in the Champion Carnival!!!
Misawa is helped out by his faction as he falls to 1-1 in the tournament
Rating: 88 B+
In a decent match, Akira Taue defeated Johnny Ace in 14:49 by pinfall with a Nodowa Otoshi. During the match we also had Jado accidentally hit Ace.
Taue has backup in Fuchi and Kawada out there to make Jado miss and hit Johnny instead!!! Sternness might have their tricks, but the Holy Demon Army has their friendship to outsmart and outwork those tactics!!!
Taue is able to win and remain undefeated in the tournament thus far!!!
Rating: 82 B
In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Vader defeated Owen Hart in 9:05 by pinfall with a Power Bomb.
The feud between these 2 heated up as Vader started to lay in punches after the match until Gedo and Tamon Honda came in and got Vader off with the help of some officials!
Things are just getting started between these 2.
Rating: 77 B
In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Kenta Kobashi defeated Hayabusa in 15:39 by pinfall with an Orange Crush.
Hayabusa fought as hard as he could against a man on a mission to get back to his title, even attacking the knee as done on night 1 by Maeda.
After a Burning Lariat failed to keep Hayabusa down, Kobashi nailed an Orange Crush and pinned Hayabusa before helping him up and shaking his head as Kobashi stays focused on his goal of winning the Champion Carnival.
Rating: 93 A
In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Jun Akiyama defeated Osamu Nishimura in 17:34 by pinfall with an Exploder.
Akiyama, not fighting a factionmate tonight, wasn't respectful at all to a member of Burning. He tossed him out of the ring, headbutt him, threw a chair at him, and didn't wrestle clean at all but Nishimura was able to stay in for a long time and get some good shots in until Akiyama hit a quick Exploder and won, keeping himself undefeated as many others did tonight. After the match Burning came out to help Nishimura, Kobashi and Akiyama shared a strong look that seemed to stop time before they both left.
Rating: 91 A

Event: AJPW Champion Carnival - Day 3 Date: Wednesday, March, Week 2, 1999Attendance: 5,500 in Komazawa Olympic Park Gym (NO VACANCY!!!)TV Rating: 7.09 (5,319,410 viewers) on Nippon TV Show Rating: 91 A
The show starts off as per usual with the NTV sports march blasting
In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Takeshi Morishima defeated Owen Hart in 21:51 by pinfall.
Sternness tried to get involved, but Williams and Takayama fought off Gedo and Jado who were at ringside to secure Morishima's undefeated streak in the tournament so far.
These 2 had great chemistry, and it made for a great match.
Rating: 94 A
In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Yoshihiro Takayama defeated Hayabusa in 10:11 by pinfall with an Everest German Suplex Hold.
A respectful bout between these 2 as excepted.
They shook hands as they walked off with another member of the Triangle of Power winning here tonight.
Rating: 81 B
In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Steve Williams defeated Osamu Nishimura in 13:22 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.
With this win, the Triangle of Power wins all 3 of their matches tonight!
After the match is over, the 2 shake hands and walk off.
Rating: 82 B
In a decent match, Johnny Ace defeated Yoshinari Ogawa in 11:23 by pinfall with an Ace Crusher.
During the match, Ogawa tried to outsmart Sternness but eventually Wada lost control and Honda hit Ogawa with a chair as Tajiri, the only member of the SGA out there, couldn't do anything to help Ogawa.
These 2 also didn't click and it made for an awkward bout that was crowd wasn't super into.
Rating: 69 C+
In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Minoru Suzuki defeated Tsuyoshi Kikuchi in 12:58 by submission with a Sleeper Hold.
Suzuki seemed a bit more vicious in his match, not allowing Kikuchi to get any separation and truly wearing him out over the 13 minute match.
These 2 did have great chemistry though, and it helped the match a bit.
Rating: 80 B
In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Gary Albright defeated Nobuhiko Takada in 6:47 by pinfall.
Try as Takada might to get low blows and cheap tactics on Albright, the big man is simply too much as he eliminates all threats of Sternness at ringside and won't allow himself to be taken down.
He quickly handles Takada and gets himself another big win in the tournament!
Rating: 77 B
In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Mitsuharu Misawa drew with Takao Omori in 30:00 when the time limit expired.
Omori held his own against freaken Misawa!!! He went the distance with him as Omori had hit the axe bomber as the time expired, he was miliseconds away from pinning Misawa!!!
Omori stands up and looks around, knowing that he damn well deserved this win!
Rating: 81 B
In a good match, Toshiaki Kawada defeated Akira Maeda in 17:57 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.
Not much to comment here, Kawada gets back on track after the lose to Albright with a win against Maeda.
Rating: 79 B
In a good match, Jun Akiyama defeated Vader in 12:08 by pinfall with an Exploder.
Jun used the help of Gedo and Jado throughout the match, as they tripped up Vader as he ran the ropes and whenever he went for a pin, even using their combined strength to throw him out and into the barricade for Jun to attack!
As a result, Jun won in his usual dirty way in this tournament.
Rating: 82 B
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Kenta Kobashi defeated Akira Taue in 24:57 by pinfall with an Orange Crush.
Kobashi shook hands with Taue after the match even though, as a theme that is beginning to grow in this tournament, Taue attacked the damaged knee of Kobashi and Kobashi could barely lift him for the crush...
Kobashi was helped out by Kikuchi and Nishimura to end the show.
Rating: 94 A
