Event: AJPW Champion Carnival - Day 4 Date: Friday, March, Week 2, 1999Attendance: 5,500 in Komazawa Olympic Park Gym (NO VACANCY!!!)TV Rating: 6.46 (4,852,050 viewers) on Nippon TV Show Rating: 88 B+
The show starts off as per usual with the NTV sports march blasting
In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Hayabusa defeated Yoshinari Ogawa in 7:44 by pinfall with a Phoenix Splash.
These 2 didn't really click and it made for an awkward match, but the crowd was really into it either way.
Rating: 76 B-
In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Owen Hart defeated Tsuyoshi Kikuchi in 10:52 by pinfall.
Kikuchi seemed off his game. Also Owen used Gedo and Jado to beat Kikuchi, getting them to distract the ref so he could attack Kikuchi's leg with a chair, trying to parody the recent attacks of Kobashi's leg.
Rating: 80 B
In a decent match, Gary Albright defeated Johnny Ace in 8:26 by pinfall with a Snap full nelson suplex.
Gary sort of toyed around with Ace, and even with Honda trying to cheat to win, he had no responds to the monster. Albright stays undefeated for another night...
Rating: 65 C
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Takao Omori defeated Vader in 14:43 by pinfall with an Axe Bomber.
Takao Omori has beat Vader!!! He did it clean in less than 15 minutes?!?! Omori is on a massive roll now!!!
Rating: 86 B+
In an exceptional match, Akira Taue defeated Akira Maeda in 11:57 by pinfall with a Nodowa Otoshi.
The 2 shook hands after the match as Taue continues to have a strong carnival, nothing much more to report besides Suzuki walking out afterwards to meet Maeda on the ramp and walking out with him...
Rating: 81 B
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Takeshi Morishima defeated Osamu Nishimura in 16:37 by pinfall.
Morishima wins again!!! Morishima is becoming nothing short of a super rookie in this tournament as he beats Kenta Kobashi's Stable Mate!
Rating: 81 B
In a bout that had sensational wrestling and fantastic heat, Toshiaki Kawada defeated Nobuhiko Takada in 16:06 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.
Kawada seemed lazer focused in this match here, attacking Takada ruthlessly as he got a quick win here. These 2 also had great chemistry.
Rating: 86 B+
In an exceptional match, Mitsuharu Misawa defeated Minoru Suzuki in 26:41 by pinfall with a Tiger Driver.
Misawa finally gets another win in the tournament but it's another long match and he stumbled out of the arena after working 56 combined minutes of his last 2 nights. Misawa could be getting worn out...
Rating: 94 A
In an exceptional match, Kenta Kobashi defeated Yoshihiro Takayama in 17:41 by pinfall with an Orange Crush.
Kikuchi and Nishimura had to help Kobashi leave the arena after the match, his leg is shreaded...Kobashi was hurt but he has to keep going...
Rating: 85 B+
In an exceptional match, Jun Akiyama defeated Steve Williams in 16:32 by pinfall with an Exploder.
Last time these 2 fought, Steve was left out for months, this time, well he lost against Jun clean. Why would Jun needs to cheat against a man he nearly killed? Hell he did it quicker this time.
Rating: 87 B+

That presentation is clean AF. Wow, the work you put into it is huge, I suppose. Those blocks are amazing. I didn't expect to see Morishima so high in 1999, but it doesn't even matter. I'm following this from now on!

Event: AJPW Champion Carnival - Day 5 Date: Sunday, March, Week 2, 1999 Attendance: 5,500 in Komazawa Olympic Park Gym (NO VACANCY!!!) TV Rating: 6.88 (5,167,130 viewers) on Nippon TV Show Rating: 90 A
The show starts off as per usual with the NTV sports march blasting
In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Steve Williams defeated Tsuyoshi Kikuchi in 13:41 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.
Kikuchi stays winless for another night and walks out annoyed and sighing at himself.
Rating: 80 B
In a superb match, Gary Albright defeated Yoshihiro Takayama in 6:56 by pinfall with a Snap full nelson suplex.
Gary continues his domination in quick fashion against Takayama...
Rating: 76 B-
In an exceptional match, Osamu Nishimura defeated Owen Hart in 15:50 by pinfall.
During the final stages of the match, Owen Hart tried to get Gedo and Jado involved but they botched their inferfence and hit Owen instead! Leading to Nishimura pinning him off a quick Enziguri!
Another member of Burning finally gets another win in the Champion Carnival!
Rating: 86 B+
In an exceptional match, Yoshinari Ogawa defeated Akira Maeda in 15:47 by pinfall with a Backdrop Hold.
Ogawa gets a big upset win clean over Akira Maeda!!! He gets his first win in the tournament!!! However in a shock to most, Maeda stays winless!
Rating: 88 B+
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Takao Omori defeated Takeshi Morishima in 15:19 by pinfall with an Axe Bomber.
Omori's hot streak refuses to be stopped as he ends Morishima undefeated Carnival!!! Once again beating his opponent clean! Omori is turning into a beast here...
Rating: 80 B
In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Hayabusa defeated Johnny Ace in 15:06 by pinfall with a roll up.
Hayabusa was able to roll up Johnny Ace as he reversed an Ace Crusher into a school boy in a cool combo!!!
The Junior Champion is trying to stage an early comeback!
Rating: 61 C
In an exceptional match, Mitsuharu Misawa defeated Vader in 19:45 by pinfall with a Tiger Driver.
Misawa beat Vader!!! Misawa is starting to gain some momentum after losing and drawing in the early stages of this tournament! The match was great too!!! ' However, it was clear Misawa was getting a bit gassed in the final stages of the match, something to note after he has worked over an hour now in the past 3 tournament matches alone...
Rating: 94 A
In an exceptional match, Nobuhiko Takada defeated Kenta Kobashi in 22:45 by stoppage when Kenta Kobashi could not continue.
It was bound to happen eventually, Kobashi's leg gave out. He went for the lariat and got caught in a quick kneebar...
Takada used every trick in the book to beat Kobashi and in the end he didn't even tap, the ref called it after he passed out. Kobashi is stretcher out of the Park Gym, it is unknown if he will continue the tournament...
Before they could get Kobashi out Gedo, Jado, and Takada attacked him and bloodied the poor guy until the rest of Burning came out to defend Kobashi...
Rating: 99 A*
In an exceptional match, Jun Akiyama defeated Minoru Suzuki in 20:35 by pinfall with an Exploder.
Jun was off his game, but still beat Suzuki with a smirk on his face after what was just done to his biggest rival. IT wasn't clean, that's not Jun's mindset in this tournament of course. He used Honda to distract the ref and blasted Suzuki with a chair before popping him with the Exploder. The fans are starting to resent Jun's attitude during this tournament...
Like in their previous match, Jun wins to the dismay of the crowd, leaving the crowd quite annoyed after seeing 2 Sternness members winning back to back.
Rating: 80 B
In an exceptional match, Toshiaki Kawada defeated Akira Taue in 23:05 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.
A very reverse heavy and past paced encounter between the current tag champions. They obviously made the crowd leave happy with a hand shake and smile as Kawada beat his best friend with a nasty backdrop!
Rating: 89 A

Solid Carnival show. Albright is topping his block, which by now is quite surprising, given some of the other names in his block. You had 2 ridiculously good matches in Takada vs. Kobashi and Misawa vs. Vader. The first of which is probably developing into a big feud in the future. I'm also impressed by Owen's involvement with Gedo and Jado.
I will edit this comment with predictions for Night 6 as soon as the card is released.
