I'm going to start posting the title histories for the various championships by year. Some posts will be longer than others, and some will be....rather short. It all depends on the year!
The way this will be formatted is that I will include (obviously) the wrestler, with parenthesis next to the name listing what title reign it was for that particular wrestler. Also included will be the event they won the title on, the date, and the number of days they held the title. Since I'll only be including title reigns through the end of the given year, the reign for the current champions will stop on December 31st, and I'll throw in a "+", just to indicate that the title reign is ongoing.
If the title change occurred in anything other than a one-on-one singles match, with no stipulations, then it will be noted below the length of the title reign.WCW World Heavyweight Title
Sting (3) WCW Starrcade 1997 December 28th, 1997 112 Days
Randy Savage (3) WCW Spring Stampede 1998 April 19th, 1998 4 Days This was a Fatal Four-Way Match also involving Bret Hart and Chris Benoit.
Hollywood Hulk Hogan (4) WCW Thunder April 23rd, 1998 52 Days This was a No DQ Match.

For tag team titles, I'm going to approach things slightly differently. For established teams as a whole, and in the case if it's someone who's had multiple title reigns teaming with someone new (who either has reigns with another team or has never held a title), I'm going to put the number of title reigns in brackets.

This version of the WCW Hardcore Title is, obviously, very similar to the WWF Hardcore Title (ironically, the real life WWF Hardcore Title and my version of the WCW Hardcore Title were both created at around the same time). Since the 24/7 rule for the WWF Hardcore Title didn't come into effect in OTL until Crash Holly won it in 2000, the WCW Hardcore Title very much follows the same rules as the WWF Hardcore Title prior to Crash Holly becoming involved. All of the matches are traditionally held under Hardcore Rules or other gimmick matches (unfortunately, you can't do four-way hardcore matches in EWR), with no 24/7 rule.
Also, I hope my Photoshop patch job of the WCW Hardcore Title is sufficient enough!
WCW Hardcore Title Tommy Dreamer WCW Monday Nitro November 23rd, 1998 10 Days Tommy Dreamer became the inaugural champion by winning a Twenty-Man Over-The-Top-Rope Battle Royal.La Parka WCW Thunder December 3rd, 1998 7 Days

So one of the items I teased is now up and running in the Rewriting History/Without Computer Games thread....it's An Alternate History Spinoff - WWF (1998 and Beyond)!!
bethebooker.net/thread/938/alternate-history-spinoff-wwf-1998
I go into it in the initial post, but the idea is that I'm taking the general skeleton of the non-WCW stuff that happened in my EWR scenario, and going full bore with the fantasy booking, without any of the various restrictions that come with the EWR game. That thread will always be behind this thread somewhat, so just to be clear about that upfront.
Much like this thread, the start of 1998 for WWF is pretty similar to OTL....but boy, do things get really wacky and interesting by the time we get to WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001. I'm also going to touch on ECW which, as I've mentioned here previously, closed down in my EWR game during the summer of 1998.
