(Following WrestleMania, Vince McMahon begins his legendary feud with Steve Austin. The infamous McMahon/corporate Austin angle still happens on Raw, as does Mick Foley’s (in his Dude Love persona) heel turn. McMahon tasks Dude with taking the WWF Championship from Austin. Stone Cold just wants to kick Dude’s ass. The match ends in a DQ when Shane McMahon accidentally hits Austin with a steel chair.)

(The Rock starts assuming more control over the Nation of Domination. Faarooq says he’ll make Rocky pay for betraying everything that the Nation stood for.)

Vader vs Kane w/Paul Bearer
(Vader attacks Kane on an episode of Raw, saying he wants to be WWF Champion again. He challenges Kane to a No DQ match and Paul Bearer accepts. Both men brawl whenever they see each other. Paul Bearer says that Kane will rip Vader apart.)
Falls Count Anywhere Match for the WWF Championship - with Vince McMahon as the Special Guest Referee:
Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) vs Dude Love
(Vince McMahon continues his mission to take the WWF Championship away from Stone Cold and continues to use Dude Love as his pawn. Stone Cold is fed up of Vince’s crap and just wants to get this all over with. After Vince is knocked out by an accidental chair shot from Dude, this match descends into chaos. The Undertaker, acting as the special enforcer to make sure Vince plays fair, takes out both an interfering Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco with chokeslams through the English and Spanish announce tables. Austin low blows Dude and lands a Stone Cold Stunner, using the unconscious McMahon’s hand to log the three count and retain the WWF Championship.)

(Triple H vacates the title on the 5/10/98 episode of Raw and an eight-man tournament is announced to crown a new champion. Hart and Shamrock make it to the finals and it is The World’s Most Dangerous Man that comes out on top.)
Triple Threat Match for the WWF Championship:
Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) vs Kane w/Paul Bearer vs The Undertaker (No Contest)
(Incensed that Stone Cold is once again WWF Champion, Vince McMahon stacks the deck against Austin by forcing him to defend his title against both The Undertaker and Kane. Undertaker wants to be WWF Champion again, Kane wants the belt back, and Austin promises to whip both brother’s asses and remain champion. The match is a no contest when both Kane and The Undertaker pin Stone Cold after a double chokeslam. The title is vacated the next night on Raw and we still get that famous Stone Cold driving the zamboni segment, JR screaming "AUSTIN GOT MCMAHON!", Stone Cold getting arrested, and The Undertaker and Kane breaking Vince’s ankle with the steel steps.)

Stone Cold is still mad about losing the WWF Championship, so he agrees to this match. Kane turns face by attacking his brother and helps Austin bury him alive.)
WWF Championship:
The Rock (c) w/The Corporation vs Mankind
(Mankind demands a rematch after Survivor Series. The Rock refuses to accept, but ultimately has no choice after Mankind wins a battle royal to become #1 contender. The Rock says he’ll use Mankind as a stepping stone to continue his reign at the very top, while Mankind promises to walk away WWF Champion. Though Mankind comes up short, he puts some butts in seats by defeating The Rock for the title on the very first Raw of 1999.)

Stone Cold Steve Austin (#1) wins by last eliminating Triple H (#23)
Royal Rumble Notes:
Stone Cold Steve Austin and Golga start the match at #1 and #2.
Vince McMahon DOES NOT enter the Royal Rumble. Instead, he becomes fed up with Stone Cold’s rebellious attitude and constant defiance. He offers up a $100,000 bounty to anyone who can eliminate his arch enemy.
Kane enters at #18 and proceeds to clean house. The Ministry of Darkness show up at ringside to distract Kane long enough for him to be eliminated by Stone Cold. Kane brawls with The Ministry afterwards.
Stone Cold Steve Austin eliminates seven men.
The final four are Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ken Shamrock, Triple H, and The Big Boss Man.
