- Match #6 – A Block: Kenta Kobashi [6] def. Steve Williams [2] --- (Vertical Drop Brainbuster) --- 17 min. [77];
- Match #7 – A Block: Stan Hansen [8] def. Dan Kroffat [2] --- (Western Lariat) --- 16 min. [76].
Show Rating: 74 A Block Recap: X A Block Match Giant Kimala vs. Mitsuharu MisawaNot many people expected Kimala to win, despite his imposing presence, and not many expected this match to be great, but it was pretty good. It’s Misawa, after all. Kimala was a threat to the green warrior, having his own periods of control. But in the end, an impressive Tiger Driver sealed the win for Misawa. Mitsuharu Misawa [6] over Giant Kimala --- 10 min. X A Block Match Dan Spivey vs. Johnny AceFresh out of beating Misawa, Spivey’s confidence was very high. Perhaps a little too high. SGA’s ally Johnny Ace gave him his all, like he’s normally doing in the league. He resisted the bigger man’s impact moves and, in the end, a Leg Drop Bulldog followed by the Ace Crusher did the trick for a celebrated win. Johnny Ace [4] over Dan Spivey [4] --- 13 min. X A Block Match Kenta Kobashi vs. Steve Williams‘Dr. Death’ had his first win only on the third round, but now… no one can stop him, right? In an amazing match, him and Kobashi fought like two enraged dogs, both giving and taking a beating and getting up for more. If one hit, the other hit harder, and it was like that since the beginning of the bout. Kobashi kicked out of a Powerbomb, but Williams could never hit the Gutwrench version (Doctor Bomb) or Backdrop Suplex. As for Kobashi, when the Moonsault (to a standing opponent) couldn’t do it, he followed it with another and a Vertical Drop Brainbuster for good measure. Kobashi won and Williams, with three losses in four matches, is practically out of contention. Kenta Kobashi [6] over Steve Williams [2] – 17 min.»» In fact, Steve Williams realized that as soon as he was pinned. And he got back up as soon as he could. Facing the back of an enthusiastic Kenta Kobashi, he pulled his arm for a big, stiff Clothesline, leaving Kobashi hurt in the canvas. ‘Dr. Death’ then left to the back, kicking the guardrails on his way. X A Block Match Dan Kroffat vs. Stan HansenHeadlining the day was a treat for Dan Kroffat’s good performances so far, and facing the Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion, the occasion was fitting. Plus, he showed up and took his opportunity. The match was a great mix between Kroffat’s technical ways and Hansen’s stiff style, with Kroffat doing his best to survive Hansen’s brutality and to have the champion on the mat. It proved to be a great strategy, to an extent, as he got the crowd behind him, specially when he hit Hansen with the Tiger Driver, a move more commonly associated with Misawa. But Hansen was not to be denied and to suffer his first defeat just yet. Kroffat refused to tap out to the Brazos Valley Backbreaker, but he ultimately could not raise his arm during the pinning attempt after… the Western Lariat, of course. Stan Hansen [8] over Dan Kroffat [2] --- 16 min.

Oh god, the block has been interesting so far but Hansen/Misawa/Kobashi haven't faced each other yet... And with three rounds left, it's easy to figure out the main events of the last 3 A Block nights, right? Fun fact: I always randomize the fixtures in fixturelist and didn't change them. I prefer to creatively work around the randomness than to create an improbable schedule merely to fit what's convenient. This time, it is very convenient, tho. Not for Steve Williams, though

- Match #7 – B Block: Toshiaki Kawada [4] def. Akira Taue [6] --- (Brainbuster) --- 19 min. [82].
Show Rating: 79 B Block Recap: X B Block Match Doug Furnas vs. Johnny SmithTwo wild horses in this B Block wrestled each other to start the league schedule in this Day 8. In a decent technical affair, Furnas managed to outsmart Smith, but only with a flash pin variation. With that, he conquered his first two points. Doug Furnas [2] over Johnny Smith [2] --- 13 min. X B Block Match Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Mighty InoueIf there’s one word to define Inoue’s run in this Champion Carnival, that word is “guts”. Having been dominated for most of the match, it took nine minutes to put him down. Tsuruta won with a devastating Backdrop Driver, to keep in contention to top the block. Jumbo Tsuruta [6] over Mighty Inoue --- 9 min.»» After the match, a bit of an unexpected confrontation took part. Doug Furnas, as Jumbo’s next opponent, got to the ring and told him he was there. Jumbo Tsuruta didn’t like it and slapped the smaller wrestler. Furnas didn’t flinch and slapped Tsuruta back, leading the crowd to cheer for him. The two then butted heads before Furnas finally let Jumbo have his moment. AWWA Global Open Championship – V4 + B Block Match Bret Hart [WWF] © vs. Terry Gordy [AJPW]The general feeling among wrestling critics is that Gordy had been putting some disappointing matches as of late. But if there was one dance partner able to change it, Bret was it. The two started slowly, with Bret aiming at Gordy’s legs, and Terry took a while before he could apply some big strong moves to shake Hart of his boots. And halfway through the match, he was successful in cutting the champion’s momentum and breathing ability, after both the Oriental Spike and the Running Leg Drop. Bret made it back to contention, but he struggled to apply the Sharpshooter. When he did so, Gordy got to the ropes. A few moments later, Gordy hit two consecutive Powerbombs on the WWF representant. 1…2…3! And ‘three strap’ Gordy is the new AWWA Global Open Champion. Terry Gordy [6] over Bret Hart [4] --- New champion! --- 17 min. X B Block Match Akira Taue vs. Toshiaki KawadaWhen the bell sounded, there was not one noise being made in the arena. The tension between two former dojo colleagues and tag team partners was palpable. Soon after, chants for Kawada started. When the physicality started, it did so in traditional fashion: with forearms and chops being thrown around, building up to the big moves. And Kawada wasn’t shy to focus on Taue’s neck region, as Taue focused on Kawada’s back and tried to hit the Nodowa Otoshi whenever he can. Kawada was not going to let it happen, though. On the other hand, when Kawada kicked… he kicked hard. And a stiffer than usual Gamengiri almost ended the match sooner than expected. Near the end, the two involved in another grueling strike battle and Taue managed to hit a Dynamic Kick, causing Kawada to fall off his feet. Back up, his former partner tried to hit the Nodowa Otoshi! But once again, Kawada was prepared! Big Shoot Kick! And then… Brainbuster! 1…2…3! The crowd erupted as Kawada was able to beat Taue. Toshiaki Kawada [4] over Akira Taue [6] --- 19 min.

Great comeback by Kawada, he pull of a miraculous triumph as well. He's not leading, but he's got the easiest path by far...
