So the Vic's fought history and saved themselves it seems.
Sunderland AFC are no longer bottom.
Yet Burslem Port Vale still couldn't buy a win.
Some things change, while Port Vales stay the same.

So the Vic's fought history and saved themselves it seems. Can't really call it a change in history yet as there is still 6 weeks left and they're hardly safe Sunderland AFC might be in good form, but you can always rely on BPV to fail to win a match. 24 matches without a win is a pretty miserably record to be holding. Still, Div 1 bottom 3 are looking all but sealed as they all sit at least 7 points off safety. Really it just comes down to who finished 14th for the easier match.

I appear to have jinxed a few things with my comment. I only know what happens as I'm writing the post.
With the way things are going here's some notes:
Division 1 6 teams remain in contention to win with Bootle obviously leading the way. The Wednesday are only really in on a technicality as if any time passes 38 points or they fail to win a game they will be knocked out. Every team from Darwen to Sheffield United is guaranteed a First Division spot for 1894/95 season The bottom 5 (Sunderland down) are the only teams that can end up in the play-off spots
Division 2 Only two teams (Walsall Town Swifts & Liverpool) can still win the league, with both already confirmed to be in the 1894 play-offs. The final play-off spot can be taken by anyone from Newton Heath (3rd) to Loughborough Athletic (10th) In a similar vein, most teams are still technically at risk of relegation with only the top 5 guaranteed a spot in Division 2 for 1894/95. All these teams could still get promoted.

I naively thought Sunderland AFC would stay ahead, because how many wins would a busted team like Bolton likely have in them, even with 6 still to play?
Also looks like I'm starting a Port Vale game.

My head canon also says that the Vic's are aiming to push ahead of Loughborough on the table because they're very upset at not being able to pass their draw tally.
Speaking of the Vic's, Newcastle is chasing Newton Heath for 3rd in the 2nd division and they lose to them? That's almost as bad as Preston losing to Sunderland AFC while chasing the top title.

Best of luck with your Port Vale save rabbitman. Hopefully you can manage to do better than 1 in 25
The Vic's are probably extra upset given Burnley have actually quietly tied up Loughborough's record too. Both teams are 1 off the all-time drawing record in this universe (1892-93 Bolton Wanderers - 11)
Think one of the biggest chokes depending on how things go could be Liverpool losing to Burton Swifts a couple of weeks ago, which might be cost them the title.
