The Division 2 table reminds me of the League One table from two years ago when Sheffield Wednesday finished 3rd with 96 points behind Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle. (Sadly I don't think we're going to see a 3rd consecutive Ipswich Town 2nd Place Finish.)

Derby County, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers & Crewe Alexandra secure spot in 1897/98 Division 1
Confirmation on a 7th team applying for election to the Football League, as London seeks a second side, with it this time being Millwall Athletic who will seek to join the league

Millwall Athletic will beat up Birmingham St George's, take their spot and their remaining money, which should buy them a sandwich.

Millwall Athletic will beat up Birmingham St George's, take their spot and their remaining money, which should buy them a sandwich. Almost certainly happening next season (given I can't see BSG surviving the playoffs, let alone avoiding them)

West Bromwich Albion secure 1896/97 Division One spot
An 8th teams has now been confirmed to be applying for election to the Football League, with Nelson officially submitting their application.

Fairfield may just save themselves. To add extra stakes, if they don't avoid the bottom 3, they fold
