It seemed to look like Batista was going to win the World Heavyweight Championship once again after a huge Batista Bomb but before Batista could cover the champion Edge, SmackDown! General Manager Vickie Guerrero ended the match due to the "time limit expiring"
After Jeff Hardy hit a huge Swanton Bomb on Triple H, Hardy never got the chance to make the cover before Randy Orton hit a RKO on Jeff Hardy for the pinfall and to retain the WWE Championship. |

LA FAMILIA IS TAKING OVER
SmackDown! opens with co-SmackDown! General Manager Vickie Guerrero (in a wheel chair) bringing out the World Heavyweight Champion, her love, Edge. Edge comes out and talks about the Royal Rumble match against Rey Mysterio. Edge says that he wants to thank a few people for being by his side during his World Heavyweight Championship reign and that is the ECW Tag Team Champions, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder. Edge asks Hawkins and Ryder to come down to the ring. Edge says that they are his "Edgeheads" and they are now part of the family. Edge then brings out an actual member of the Guerrero family, Chavo. Chavo, the new ECW Champion comes out and hugs everybody in the ring and gives his aunt a big hug. Edge says this ring is not only full of champions, but full of family and this is now "La Familia". All of a sudden Rey Mysterio comes out and wants to know why Vickie Guerrero has been acting like this. Vickie says that she divorced Eddie and its time to move on with her life with Edge. Edge tells Mysterio to mind his business about his personal life and this love between Edge and Vickie is "real". Chavo gets on the microphone and tells Mysterio that Mysterio isnt going to break up this family because they are champions and Mysterio will never become champion as long as Edge has the championship. All of a sudden Theodore Long comes out to break up the party. Theodore Long says that since he's still co-General Manager of SmackDown, he's booking a one-on-one with da Under....nevermind, he said that tonight Chavo Guerrero is going to team up with Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder to take on Kane, Rey Mysterio and the Undertaker in the main event. The main event begun and Rey Mysterio hit a 619 on Chavo Guerrero to win while the Brothers of Destruction and the "Edgeheads" fought to the back. All of a sudden Edge came out and speared Mysterio before putting Mysterio's face on the World Championship belt while SmackDown! went off the air.

JEFF HARDY TAKES AN EXTREME LEAP
RAW opens with the WWE Champion coming down to the ring. Orton grabs a microphone and says that tonight before their WWE Championship bout this Sunday at Royal Rumble, Vince McMahon wants Orton and Jeff Hardy to "shake hands". Randy Orton says that he'll never shake Hardy's hand and he's going to make sure Hardy leaves Madison Square Garden in a stretcher. Vince McMahon then comes out and tells Orton he doesnt care if he means it but he has to shake Jeff Hardy's hand. McMahon says that if Hardy doesnt shake Orton's hand than he will no longer face Orton at the Royal Rumble. Vince McMahon demands Jeff Hardy to come to the ring and the challenger comes down. Jeff Hardy told McMahon that he has nothing to worry about and he'll promise to give the people something to remember. Later in the night Vince McMahon came out and announced that at the Royal Rumble, it will be the first PPV in High Definition. McMahon then asked both men to put their differences aside and shake hands. Randy Orton came out and said that Jeff Hardy will never be the WWE Champion and that it would be terrible if Jeff Hardy was the face of the WWE. Jeff Hardy then came out and said he's going to have to fight Hardy right here and right now if Orton want Hardy to shake his hand. McMahon demanded both men shake hands and Orton extended his hand to Hardy and Hardy hesitate shook Orton's hand but Orton went for the RKO but Hardy pushed Orton into McMahon and went for a Twist of Fate but Orton rolled out of the ring. The two men fought each other up the ramp and ended up on the stage. Hardy back-dropped Randy Orton off the stage and Hardy climbed a piece of scaffold and SWANTON BOMBED RANDY ORTON 30 FEET BELOW. Both men were being attended to by medical staff while RAW went off the air.  Six days before their WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble, Jeff Hardy jumped down 30 feet off the RAW stage to hit a Swanton Bomb on Randy Orton. |

THERES TROUBLE IN PARADISE; NEW EXTREMIST MAKES THEIR DEBUT
On the Royal Rumble go home episode of ECW, winless Colin Delaney came to the ring to express his frustration with his losing streak. Delaney said that he plans that tonight is the beginning of a new start Delaney. Delaney said he's going to go on an undefeated streak starting tonight, hes going to win the Royal Rumble and he's going to main event WrestleMania!. Delaney issued an open challenge to any extremist in the back. The challenge was answered by Kofi Kingston, who's has vignettes preparing his ECW arrival play for the last few weeks. the Jamaican told Delaney that tonight there will be Trouble In Paradise. Kofi Kingston successful defeated Delaney in just over two minutes.

NATURE BOY CHALLENGES MVP TO A UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH AT THE ROYAL RUMBLE
On the last SmackDown! before the Royal Rumble, MVP hosted a special edition of the VIP Lounge with his guest, the Nature Boy Ric Flair. The last weeks there has been rumors about Flair retiring and MVP has been wanting to prove that he's one of the greatest superstars of all time and MVP wants to beat Flair to help prove his point. Flair enters the VIP Lounge and MVP said that he's the greatest United States Champion of all time. Flair reminds MVP that Flair was NWA United States Champion numerous times and every reign was better than MVP's. MVP said that he wants to face the Nature Boy on Sunday at the Royal Rumble. MVP said that after the Royal Rumble, everybody will be saying that MVP is better than Flair. MVP said that after Sunday, Ric Flair will have to move into the retirement home and he'll be the Undisputed Shuffleboard Champion. Flair said he wants to win the United States Championship one more time and he accepted the challenge for a championship match at the Royal Rumble. MVP tried to attack Flair but Flair hit MVP with the Flair chops when MVP rolled out of the ring.  the Nature Boy will take on Montel Vontavious Porter for the WWE United States Championship at Royal Rumble. |

SmackDown! opens with Co-General Manager Theodore Long making a big announcement about the upcoming pay per view. Long says since John Cena is going to challenge for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 24, that leaves no clear No. 1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. Theodore Long says that at No Way Out there will be an Elimination Chamber match and the winner will face the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 24. Theodore Long said that there will be six qualifying matches starting tonight with the winners going on to the Elimination Chamber. Theodore Long also announced that Edge will face Rey Mysterio at No Way Out for the World Heavyweight Championship after the controversial ending at Royal Rumble, Long said that no La Familia members are allowed to interfere in the match and if any of them do Edge will be stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship. All of a sudden Edge ran out and got in the face of the Co-General Manager Theodore Long. Edge questioned Long about why Rey Mysterio got another championship shot. Edge begged Theodore Long to change the match but Long said "Tough luck playa! Holla Holla Holla!"  After the controversial ending to their match at the Royal Rumble, Rey Mysterio will once again challenge Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship. If any member of La Familia interfere on Edge's behalf, Edge will be stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship immediately |

RAW opens with John Cena coming out and talking about his Royal Rumble victory. Cena says that hes glad to be back as quickly as he did even if the fans think "Cena Sucks". Cena said once the doctors said he'll miss WrestleMania 24, he was going to do whatever he needed to do to come back. Cena said everything worked out in his favor, he went to win the Royal Rumble and is going to WrestleMania to face Randy Orton. John Cena said he's been out for four months and he's been thinking of the WWE Championship ever single day and he's not going to wait until WrestleMania 24 to challenge Randy Orton, he's going to challenge Randy Orton right here! right now! the WWE Champion Randy Orton came out on the stage and said it doesnt matter when or where John Cena wants to challenge Orton, Orton is going to do what he does best and that's put John Cena back on the shelf for another six months. Randy Orton said he'll face John Cena but not tonight in front of these Texas rednecks. John Cena said if Orton doesnt want to face him tonight than Cena's going to face Randy Orton at No Way Out for the WWE Championship. Later in the night during the six man tag team match the team of Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels and Triple H took on John Bradshaw Layfield, Snitsky and Umaga, the match ended in a no contest when the six men brawled forcing the referee t end the match. RAW General Manager William Regal came out and announced that the six men will challenge each other in the Elimination Chamber match with the winner taking on the WWE Champion at WrestleMania 24.
