Uh I'm pretty sure few was the first Japanese promotion that used male and female wrestler. Their was a reason why megumi kudo was one of their big stars alongside Masato Tanaka and hayabusa. You're right, I forgot about FMW for a minute there. Mike Denzel must be uninformed! Do you think njpw could sign Maeda back? With Inoki's love for Maeda and guys with a strong MMA background, it could be a possibility. We'll see. How the hell did wcw get a TV deal when their about to get pulled? In this diary both ECW and WCW are still running. They're both recovering from their respective dark periods, but they are still alive.

NJPW NEW CENTURY DASH 2001 @ Prefectural Budokan, Okinawa, JP - January 19th 2001 4500 in attendance
Single Match Shinya Makabe def. Kenzo Suzuki in 4:26 via Pinfall A furious Makabe, angry due to being left out of the Wrestling World card, has the opportunity to show all of his rage, dominating the whole bout.
It’s another big loss for Suzuki, the second in a row, and just days before the beginning of the Young Lions Cup.
Single Match Hiroshi Tanahashi def. Jado w/Gedo in 8:10 via Pinfall Tanahashi outsmarts the two, rolling up Jado for the 3-count.
After the match, Gedo and Jado enter the ring once again, surrounding Tanahashi… but Shinsuke Nakamura comes out! Nakamura joins Tanahashi, while Gedo and Jado stand there, looking confused. At this moment, another theme plays… It's Katsuyori Shibata! The three Young Lions are now in the ring, while Gedo and Jado are forced to make their way to the back. The three Young Lions, meanwhile, share a moment of animosity between them, going face-to-face-to-face!
Six Men Tag Team Match Junior Stars (Koji Kanemoto & Minoru Tanaka (O)) & Chris Candido def. Jushin Thunder Liger, Negro Casas (X) & Dr. Wagner Jr. in 12:46 via Pinfall The heel team controls the majority of the match, cutting off the face every time they try to tag. Liger loses his calm, coming at Kanemoto, but he and Candido take advantage of his rage, laying him out of the ring, while Tanaka pins Casas for the victory. Single Match Kazuyuki Fujita def Michiyoshi Ohara in 3:09 via Referee Stoppage Fujita overpowers Ohara, knocking him down several times, until referee Hiroyuki Unno has no choice but to stop the match.
After the match, Fujita got interrupted by… Naoya Ogawa! Ogawa went straight to the Ol’ Ironhead face, asking him for a rematch, since he wasn’t able to beat him fair and square in the Tokyo Dome. Fujita accepted the challenge, and the two had to be separated thanks to the intervention of the Young Lions!
Speaking of Young Lions, we have the announcement for the participants in the YLC: Hiroshi Tanahashi Kenzo Suzuki Shinya Makabe Katsuyori Shibata Wataru Inoue Shinsuke Nakamura The tournament will operate by round robin rules, with a single block, and after the rounds phase, the two top participants in the block will collide in the Final.
Eight Men Tag Team Match G-EGGS (Yuji Nagata (O), Manabu Nakanishi, Yukata Yoshie & Brian Johnston) def. TEAM2000 (Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima (X), Hiro Saito & AKIRA) w/Tatsutoshi Goto in 16:12 via Pinfall Nagata gave his all, leading his unit against TEAM2000. The other members of G-EGGS followed their captain’s example, allowing him to lay out Kojima with a victorious Backdrop Hold.
With this victory, Nagata has defeated both halves of the tag team champions! Blue Justice officially challenges TenCozy to put their titles on the line, and they are left with no choice!
It’s time for the semi Main Event! The strange pairing of Fujiwara and Frye make their entrance in the Prefectural Budokan. The IWGP Champ is next, entering to a sea of cheers from the fans in attendance. Everyone is curious about Sasaki’s partner, starting with his opponents tonight. The ex Power Warrior grabs a mic and introduces his partner… MASAHIRO CHONO!? Chono makes his way to the ring, as confused as anyone in the building, shaking his head in denial.
Tag Team Match Kensuke Sasaki & Masahiro Chono vs Don Frye & Yoshiaki Fujiwara ended in a Draw in 7:28 via Double DQ Sasaki and Chono had several miscommunications, and everything got out of hand as soon as Sasaki and Frye were tagged in by their respective partners, forcing the ref to call for the DQ.
Sasaki came at Frye after the bell, but The Predator decided to not waste anymore time, leaving with Fujiwara. Chono rose up, with a fire look in his eyes.
Special Single Match Keiji Muto def. Scott Norton in 12:24 via Pinfall Muto made his return to single action in Japan, representing BATT against a delusional Norton, who wanted Muto away from NJPW. The Pro Wrestling Genius showed how New Japan is still his home, pinning Norton after a Moonsault.
After the match, Shinzaki and Hase came to the ring to celebrate with their stablemate to close the show. PREDICTIONS Asaemon - 3/7

I now realized about this diary. I'm not really familiar with that NJPW time period at all, but I'm going to follow your version of it. Will we see a lighter version of MMA-influenced NJPW here? Who knows...
I'm happy with your decision to make Sasaki the IWGP Champion, as is probably the guy who I most like in your roster.

Notes Before The Show:
- Naoya Ogawa appeared on a ZERO1 show, challenging World Heavyweight Champion Shinjiro Otani in a losing effort. Although we are trying to raise Ogawa's stock, and a loss surely isn't helpful for that matter, this means that ZERO1 is open to do business with us, and that's good news.
NJPW FIGHTING SPIRIT SERIES 2001 - DAY 2 @ Hokkaido Sports Center, Sapporo, JP - February 3rd, 2001 ca. 7.000 in attendance Young Lions Cup 2nd Round Match Shinsuke Nakamura (4) def. Wataru Inoue (2) in 8:11 via Pinfall
Six Men Tag Team Match Naoya Ogawa (O) & TEAM2000 (Hiro Saito & Tatsutoshi Goto) def. Riki Choshu & G-EGGS (Brian Johnston (X) & Yukata Yoshie) in 5:44 via Pinfall
Young Lions Cup 2nd Round Match Hiroshi Tanahashi (2) def. Kenzo Suzuki (0) in 7:29 via Pinfall
After another loss, a demoralized Suzuki looked around, looking for some support from the crowd. Instead, Riki Choshu made his way to the ring! The veteran proposed an handshake to the YL, and took him to the back.
Young Lions Cup 2nd Round Match Katsuyori Shibata (4) def. Shinya Makabe (0) in 12:50 via Pinfall
Six Men Tag Team Match BATT (Keiji Muto (O) & Jinsei Shinzaki & Hiroshi Hase) def. Chris Candido (X) & Junior Stars (Koji Kanemoto & Minoru Tanaka) in 12:38 via Pinfall
Special Single Match Kensuke Sasaki def. Takashi Iizuka in 9:32 via Pinfall Iizuka had a good showing against the Heavyweight champ, whom initially underestimated his opponent, and had to resort to the Lariat to score the 3-count.
Tag Team Match Don Frye (O) & Yoshiaki Fujiwara def. TEAM2000 (Masahiro Chono (X) & Scott Hall) in 10:57 via Pinfall Chono wasn't successful in getting his revenge on Frye, also due to several miscommunications between him and Hall during the bout.
The Bad Guy went to the back without waiting for his leader, and Frye tried a sneak attack on the Black Charisma, only for him to get out of the ring as soon as Sasaki ran down the ramp to make the save!
Before the Main Event, NJPW President Tatsumi Fujinami and 11-time IWGP Jr. Heavyweight champ Jushin Thunder Liger made their way to the ring. The two addressed the Jr. Title situation, which has been vacant since October. Liger said that he had a conversation with Fujinami, in which he presented an interesting idea, slightly inspired by something done in the Western promotions. Therefore, Liger announced that, on the second-last stage of the Fighting Spirit Series, on February 16th, NJPW will hold the first ever JUNIOR RUMBLE!! The rules will be similar to those of the WWF's Royal Rumble: 2 wrestlers start the match, and from that moment, another wrestler enters the match every 2 minutes. Eliminations can be scored by throwing an opponent over the top rope, and also by Pinfall, Submission or TKO. In the end, the last wrestler on the ring will become the new IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion. Fujinami applauded the masked wrestler, who ended his announcement by revealing that he will be the first participant in the match!
IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship Match TenCozy (Hiroyoshi Tenzan (O) & Satoshi Kojima) (c) def. G-EGGS (Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi (X) ) in 15:11 via Referee Stoppage -- TITLE DEFENSE! (V3) Nagata chose Nakanishi as his partner in order to let him have some form of redemption after being pinned by Frye on the first day of the tour. Nakanishi rewarded Nagata's trust by having a great performance, showing a lot of hearth, and being a thorn in the side of the champs. TenCozy decided to punish Nakanishi, left alone in the ring due to Nagata being throw over the barricade, pummeling him to the ground, and striking him with a chair. A bloody Nakanishi was finally put down by a vicious Tombstone Piledriver, after which he was declared unable to continue, although Nakanishi was trying to get back on his feet...
After the match, Nagata got in the ring to assist his stablemate, alongside medical personnel, while the champs retreated with a smile on their face. FIGHTING SPIRIT SERIES 2001 - DAY 3 CARD FOR PREDICTIONS:
