FULL-SHOW RECAP X
MATCH #1
BILLY KIDMAN vs. KID KASHAnarchy Rulz started with a good competitive but grudgy match between two great Junior Heavyweights. It started out strong with the two wanting to tear each other up. Kidman attacked Kash’s knee in and out of the ring, with and without a chair, which ended up being the difference-maker. In the end, Kash was in the ‘tree of woe’ position and got a huge chair shot to the knee once again. Kidman then capitalized with the Shooting Star Press to end the match.
RESULT: BILLY KIDMAN DEF. KID KASH – PIN – 8:52
RATING: 54>> KANYON: CALLING SPIKE OUT TO END THE GRUDGE NOW>> We didn’t know which match was going to be next… until Chris Kanyon came to the ring, alone like he promised, and made sure it was his own. Kanyon called Spike Dudley out, questioning his guts (if there were any doubts regarding that), so they could finally settle their long grudge in a one-on-one match.
X
MATCH #2
CHRIS KANYON vs. SPIKE DUDLEYIt ended up being the shortest match of the night. Little Spike showed up and put up a fight, making Kanyon bleed early following a stiff chair shot. However, one of his trademark bumps made sure the rest of the match belonged to the leader of I.Q., as Spike was thrown with a Last Call from the ring to the concrete. Spike eventually had a false comeback, until a Quality Sign from the corner through a table finished the match.
RESULT: CHRIS KANYON DEF. SPIKE DUDLEY – PIN – 6:35
RATING: 62>> O’HAIRE MAKES HIS OWN RULES>> After the match, Chris Kanyon was just celebrating his win when Sean O’Haire came out. Kanyon thought he was probably going to call Steve Corino out for their match to take place next… but that wasn’t true. O’Haire jumped Spike with a Big Boot, then punching him on the ground before Kanyon pulled him. Both had a tense confrontation as that wasn’t the plan for the night.
>> C.W. Anderson tried to stop his stablemates’ argument, but to no avail. Only Corino could do so, getting in O’Haire’s face and starting a brawl until the bell rang. Kanyon left the scene.
X
MATCH #3
SEAN O’HAIRE (w/C.W. ANDERSON) vs. STEVE CORINOCompetitive clash between two more wrestlers with some bad blood. Corino wasn’t shy from using objects, but he bled first after O’Haire used Corino’s own cowbell on him. From then on, it looked like the I.Q. prospect could get one up Corino as he even choked him with it. However, ‘His Own Man’ ended up turning things around with a big Superplex through a table when O’Haire thought he could pull the Seanton Bomb. Then, Corino followed it with a Northern Lights Bomb to win the match.
RESULT: STEVE CORINO DEF. SEAN O’HAIRE – PIN – 8:11
RATING: 50>> HEYMAN: “YOU’RE WATCHING A SHOW THAT’S GOING TO SHAPESHIFT ECW FOREVER”>> From his desk, Paul Heyman finally addressed the ECW fans in the crowd or at home. Heyman talked briefly about the five matches left, with a bigger focus on the World Title clash between Mike Awesome and Jerry Lynn and, of course, the Loser Leaves ECW match between The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer. Heyman claimed that this is a nice that’s changing ECW forever, as “(…) one of the arteries of ECW will carry the blood to your hearts for the last time tonight!”

MATCH #4 – ECW WORLD JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
SUPER CRAZY © vs. HAYABUSATime for the first title match of the night: the international dream match for the Jr. Heavyweight gold. Hayabusa received a hero’s welcome for his first bout in ECW since 1998. Then, the two started by having a sequence close to the one the night prior and the first half of the match really looked like a great lucha libre contest. Super Crazy invited his challenger to go hardcore, something he does very well. The two introduced chairs and, then, a ladder to the mix.
That way, the match gave us some cool spots, like a Springboard Moonsault that sandwiched the champion between the mat and a ladder or a Corkscrew Senton by Crazy, from nearly the top of that ladder. However, it became too much of a spotfest near the end. Hayabusa got his knees up for the Trifecta and then hit the Phoenix Splash for the win! Hayabusa is the ECW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion!
RESULT: HAYABUSA DEF. SUPER CRAZY – PIN – NEW CHAMPION! – 14:45
RATING: 54>> HAYABUSA & SUPER CRAZY: A REMATCH ANYTIME>> By the end of the match, respect remained mutual, as Super Crazy ended up accepting Hayabusa’s handshake, despite having lost the title. The second champion then made the Mexican sure that he will give him a rematch anytime. He also told the ECW faithful that he’s now signed to ECW!
>> TAG TEAM BAD BLOOD SETTLED (?) IN THE CAGE NEXT>> The World Tag Team Championship match is next. Backstage, the champions, Diamond Bodies, reclaimed once again that they will prove, in the cage, that they’re the best team in ECW history: “not the Pitbulls, not the Eliminators, not RVD and Sabu… and certainly NOT the Impact Players!”
>> In their own part of the backstage area, the Impact Players claimed that they’re dying to beat the Bodies around the cage and its walls and get the titles back to where they belong: their waists. Francine confessed that she’s sorry not to be in the cage with Dawn Marie and Tammy Lynn Sytch too.

MATCH #5 – ECW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP – STEEL CAGE
CHRIS CANDIDO & SIMON DIAMOND [DIAMOND BODIES] © (w/DAWN MARIE & TAMMY LYNN SYTCH) vs. JUSTIN CREDIBLE & LANCE STORM [IMPACT PLAYERS] (w/FRANCINE)The cage was lowered (ECW is now owned by WWF, after all…) to leave a little bit of space between the mat and the steel, so both teams’ valets could hand them some weapons. However, they brought their own, as both Simon Diamond and Justin Credible had a baseball bat. Chris Candido and Lance Storm were cleaner in the beginning, but soon got engulfed by the violent nature of the match. Storm took hold of Diamond’s bat and the champions were in real disadvantage, so much that Sunny Dawn grabbed both bats when they were left near the cage, taking them out of the match.
Both champions were bleeding and so was Credible, all of them having hit the cage walls head first. Some chairs helped the champions get a upper hand, but when Francine got Credible his cane, the challengers felt like they could be taking the belts home again. They even teased the opposition’s valets, showing them their boys, very close to them, head on the lower rope. Bad mistake… Dawn and Tammy took something off some small pockets they had in their also small dresses, spraying the challengers on the eyes at the same time. It was pepper spray!
The Diamond Bodies knew they had to take advantage. Francine confronted Dawn and Tammy, but got sprayed so bad she couldn’t see a thing. Candido and Diamond then hit Storm with the Body Play Powerbomb while Credible fought the air. Then, another one to Credible! 1…2…3! The dastardly heels retain!
RESULT: CHRIS CANDIDO DEF. JUSTIN CREDIBLE – PIN – STILL CHAMPION! – 12:16
RATING: 60>> DIAMOND BODIES: CROSSING THE BOSS>> The Diamond Bodies only waited for the door to be open and, then, tried to get the hell out of the ring as fast as possible. The two kissed their girls and were met in the entrance way… by Shane McMahon! The boss confronted the Bodies about their tainted win (another one), but they argued that their win was a legal one, since Dawn and Tammy didn’t touch their opponents. That’s true.
>> McMahon still bashed them, even delivering the line: “Here in ECW, we don’t really like cowards like you!” (“We”? Wow!), only to be pepper sprayed too by Tammy, whose attitude shocked the rest of the group. They liked it, though, and left to the back.

MATCH #6 – #1 CONTENDERSHIP – 4-WAY DANCE
CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & CM PUNK [INDEPENDENT CHURCH] (w/SINISTER MINISTER) vs. DANNY DORING & ROADKILL (w/NOVA) vs. LITTLE GUIDO & TONY MAMALUKE [F.B.I.] (w/BIG VITO) vs. MIKEY WHIPWRECK & YOSHIHIRO TAJIRIOnly two wrestlers were legal at the same time at the start of the match. It was Doring and Guido, but everyone in the arena was waiting to see the Independent Church collide with Mikey and Tajiri. When they did, tags faded out, as the two rival teams kicked each other’s butts, with and without weapons. F.B.I., Doring and Roadkill didn’t want to stay out of the match, so they fought each other at the same time in a softer brawl.
Then, in the ring, the field got shorter, as Tajiri battled Punk and Daniels battled Mikey. Daniels and Tajiri had some bad blood and they kind of competed against one another. Daniels hit the Angel’s Wings on Mikey; Tajiri hit a Diving Double Foot Stomp on Punk through a table. Then both went for a pin at the same time: 1…2…3! Like that, the two teams were eliminated simultaneously!
ELIMINATION: YOSHIHIRO TAJIRI DEF. CM PUNK – PIN – 7:44
ELIMINATION: CHRISTOPHER DANIELS DEF. MIKEY WHIPWRECK – PIN – 7:44Sinister Minister escorted his Church out, as Tajiri helped Mikey. The match continued with just two teams. Nova motivated Doring and Roadkill and they were close to upset the F.B.I., but the technical ability of the Italian-Americans was enough to secure the win, following Mamaluke’s Bridging Italian Suplex on Doring, aided by a Dropkick from Guido.
RESULT: TONY MAMALUKE DEF. DANNY DORING – PIN – 11:28
RATING: 50>> MCMAHON: BACKING THE NEW CHALLENGERS>> The F.B.I. celebrated euphorically as they became challengers once again. This time, they will be facing the Diamond Bodies and everyone will be cheering for them. Even… Shane McMahon, of course, who appeared, clapping his hands. He met the new challengers in the ring, raised their arms and guaranteed that he wishes to see Guido and Mamaluke as the new champions soon, so Candido and Diamond can get what they deserve for some time now. It’s huge to have the boss’ support, right?
>> CHAMPION AND CHALLENGER READY FOR A GREAT TITLE MATCH>> It is now time for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship match. Once again, we had some short promos backstage. The champion, Mike Awesome, said he was ready for another great title match, against a great challenger, but once again, he would prove that there’s no one as dominant as him in ECW.
>> Jerry Lynn told the camera he was focused in regaining the World title and he told Awesome to bring everything into the match, chairs, tables, whatever, as long as they keep it somewhat respectful. He also hoped Paul Ellering’s presence at ringside isn’t a distraction.

MATCH #7 – ECW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP – SPECIAL ENFORCER: PAUL ELLERING
MIKE AWESOME © vs. JERRY LYNNPaul Ellering got to the ring before both competitors. Quiet, he just sat at ringside… and stayed that way, observing the match through its whole duration.
The match itself was frankly the best of the night: two very distinct but very good pro wrestlers giving their all for 20 minutes in order to leave Anarchy Rulz with the World title. Awesome started out on top due to his strength, but soon Lynn was able to do something about it and was able to floor the champion to keep the match on the ground for a bit.
The match was kept clean for some time, but of course it wouldn’t stay that way. Both stared each other in the eyes before agreeing to take a weapon from opposite sides of the ring: Lynn took a chair… Awesome took a table. He didn’t use it right ahead, as he hit the challenger with a Boot. Then he gained control of the match again and finally hit an Awesome Bomb through the leaned table! 1…2… but no! Lynn kicked out!
It took a while for the ‘Dynamic One’ to get back into the match, which he did, with the use of the chair he had brought to the ring. In front of Ellering, he would hit a Backdrop on the apron… and he went for the pin at ringside. 1…2… of course not!
The match got back to the ring as another table was introduced and set up. The two were back fighting clean and Lynn’s technical ability allowed him to keep a bit ahead. He wasn’t able to hit the Cradle Piledriver, though, and a Back Body Drop forced him to fight to stay on the apron. There, he was met with a big chair shot! Awesome didn’t let him fall, instead pulling him to the ring.
Lynn would evade the Awesome Bomb position, though, and after putting up a fight, he had Awesome on the corner, next to the table. Lynn was able to lift Awesome and climbed the corner himself: then he went for a Super Frankenst… but no! Awesome countered it… to a huge Awesome Bomb! Through the table! 1…2…3! Awesome remains the ECW champion!
RESULT: MIKE AWESOME DEF. JERRY LYNN – PIN – STILL CHAMPION! – 20:01
RATING: 69>> ELLERING: TWO PROPOSITIONS AND TWO ANSWERS>> After the match, finally, Paul Ellering got up from his seat and entered the ring. The poker face was broken when he asked for a microphone. Then, he said he was very impressed with the title match he had just witnessed. He added he knows about both Mike Awesome and Jerry Lynn’s qualities and then made a bold statement, claiming that the two are not inferior to anyone he had managed before. So… he laid a proposition… to both men, offering to be the manager of Awesome, as well as of Lynn. He extended his hand, waiting for a positive answer.
>> Back on his feet, Jerry Lynn was the first to answer, so he looked Ellering dead in the eyes and turned his back, leaving the ring. Mike Awesome, however, with the ECW World title on the shoulder, smirked and shook Ellering’s hand! Awesome is now Ellering’s client!
>> “THE MATCH THAT WILL CHANGE ECW”… NEXT!>> Pre-match backstage promos again: first, Tommy Dreamer expressed his feelings about the Loser Leaves ECW match against his former best friend, and said he wished their issues wouldn’t have to come this far, but by assaulting Beulah, it all reached a very personal level, even if the stipulation was already set.
>> Sandman was in a darker room, and speaking slowly, he expressed his wishes: to take away from Dreamer one of the many things he has. Not because Sandman is afraid to lose the one thing he still has in his life, but because he wants to see Dreamer (and Beulah) enter a dark spiral, so they both could become as miserable as their own souls.

MATCH #8 – LOSER LEAVES ECW
THE SANDMAN vs. TOMMY DREAMER (w/BEULAH MCGILLICUTTY)Dreamer entered first and Sandman entered next… but surprising Dreamer with a stiff cane shot to the back of the head. Beulah panicked and the truth is she shouldn’t even be at ringside. Instead of caning Dreamer again and again, Sandman set his eyes on Beulah, who tried to escape through the crowd. Sandman chased her up to a balcony where she was hopeless. The fans wouldn’t dare interfere, of course. Dreamer finally got back up and chased Sandman to that balcony. The two fought, trading punches, cane and chair shots before Dreamer was able to get the upper hand, punching Sandman who fell from the balcony to a stack of four tables below.
It took a while for Sandman to get up and for the match to get to the ring. The two battered each other with every weapon they could find on the way there. Finally near, Sandman tripped Dreamer who opened his head on the guardrail. Then, he got a… barbed wire 2x4 from under the ring! It became a part of their fight, as well as a trashcan, more chairs and a table. The two teared each other, we had some DDT near-falls (one for each) and, near the end, the two had barbed wire wrapped around their fists. Sandman got the edge with a low blow and was ready to finish Dreamer. Instead of going for the pin after the White Russian Leg Sweep, he went for a Rolling Rock, but caught nothing but trashcan.
Dreamer then hit a DDT on a chair and wrapped Sandman’s head in barbed wire (an image made so famous over the years). Dreamer then told him again: “It didn’t have to come to this, Jim…”, before getting him on his shoulders for a Spicolli Driver through the table! Slowly, he covered Sandman: 1…2…3! Sandman is out of ECW…
RESULT: TOMMY DREAMER DEF. THE SANDMAN – PIN – 13:32
RATING: 56>> OUT… THROUGH THE SMALL DOOR>> The crowd was in disbelief and Tommy Dreamer too, sat on the mat next to his fallen former best friend. For some moments, it looked like he was going to help The Sandman get up. But Beulah McGillicutty convinced him otherwise, as Sandman was probably going to hit both again. He left, visibly emotional.
>> As Sandman was getting up, he received a surprise: Tyler, his son, now 11 years of age, came to the ring, accompanied by Peaches, Sandman’s ex-wife. Tyler was in the ring, some feet away from his father with open arms (not worshipping Raven, but looking for a hug that could console him). Sandman looked very emotional… but he refused Tyler’s hug, instead grabbing his cane and leaving the ring as Peaches hugged Tyler, cursing Sandman for being a bad dad.
>> On his slow way to the back, Sandman was met by… Paul Heyman. Heyman disapproved Sandman’s actions, but he was mainly emotional too, due to how much Sandman has given ECW since its birth. Heyman put a hand on Sandman’s shoulder and he looked at him. Then, he shoved it away and instantly caned Heyman, leaving him down and out on the floor. Sandman then posed with his cane in the air for one last time without turning to the crowd and left ECW… forever.
FINAL RATING: 59
BOOKER’S NOTES:>> I don’t know how to feel about this one. Workers keep getting over, but the ratings are mediocre. I’m proud of some ideas materialized in this show, but the save game isn't really giving me that much joy at the moment. I’ll have to reflect on this diary’s future, as there are some other alternatives on the shelf. Anyway, if I end up abandoning the diary, I will share my ideas until November To Remember. Thank you all!
