BREAKING: CONTROVERSIAL INCIDENT AT HOUSE SHOW CAUSED MAINSTREAM BACKLASH AND INTERNAL HYSTERIA IN THE WWF
An incident would happen at a December house show that has caused the mainstream news outlets and many sponsors/TV networks to be concerned about the WWF. During the Holiday House Show tour at Madison Square Garden, a Steel Cage match would persist between "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and "Loose Cannon" Brian Pillman. In the middle of the match, Pillman would unexpectedly pull out what seemed to be a 9mm Glock at Austin, causing Austin to unexpectedly leave the cage and the crowd to leave en masse in a panic. It is currently unknown whether this is a real incident (Being that it was an unexpected and unhinged moment of rage from Pillman) or was apart of a grander storyline as both Austin and Pillman are feuding on WWF programming, however, it's clear that this incident (fake or not) was received extremely poorly by the fans in attendance, and fan footage has gotten out to mainstream news outlets such as CNN and FOX News, leading to the WWF being under scrutiny from mainstream outlets and non-wrestling fans. WWF Chairman and President Jim Crockett Jr. has stated in a press release that it was apart of storyline, but it's still leading to a massive amount of backlash. Brian Pillman has since been indefinitely suspended, and Jim Crockett Jr. has announced that he will be stepping down from the WWF in April of 1996. This incident has lead to the December In Your House show being cancelled and Monday Night Raw getting pulled from the USA Network as well. It seems WWF is in a dark place right now, but will continue to go business as usual.
