WCW Lives (2.0) 2006!

Recap:  The rules for this match were made clear by the ring announcer before the match, and the commentary team during the match.  In this match tables were the only weapons legal in this match, and both members had to be put through a table by an offensive move from an opponent in order to be considered as having been put through a table.  Even after a wrestler was put through a table they would continue in the match as this was not an elimination match.  It was pretty clear that this was probably the last shot that Team 3D was going to get at the WCW World Tag Team Championships, and that became apparent as they were very quick to attack Harris and Storm to get this match started.  The quick start led to Team 3D getting a table set up first in the middle of the ring and they put Chris Harris through the table to immediately be up on America’s Most Wanted.  They were then able to isolate James Storm and it looked like he might suffer the same fate, when Gail Kim got involved by giving Brother Devon a Swinging Head Scissors.  Storm then nailed Brother Ray with a Last Call Superkick, setting Ray on a table for Harris to come off with a Leg Drop putting Ray through the table.  The finish saw Harris drive Ray through a table in the corner with a Spear.  Devon was all alone and Storm hit him with a low blow and raised him up into the air, and Harris caught his head and drove him through a table with a 3D of their own to retain the WCW World Tag Team Championship!

Result: In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, America's Most Wanted defeated Team 3D in 11:43; Chris Harris was put through a table first, and then Brother Ray, and finally Brother Devon. America's Most Wanted make defence number one of the WCW World Tag Team titles. (57)

Recap: Prior to the match Jeremy Borash came out to show a WCW Magazine Exclusive clip that had been filmed for WCW.com….in which it was announced that Fergal Devitt had been added to this match by the NWA Championship Committee.  Dutt was immediately upset by that, but there was nothing he could do about that as Devitt was on his way down the ramp for the match.  This was a fast-paced match, with lots of high-flying impact moves, before it settled down with Dutt letting Romero and Devitt beat on each other, before he attempted to sneak in and steal a pin fall.  The finish saw Dutt connect with the Moonstomp on Romero, but Devitt threw him over the top rope to the outside and locked in the Devitt’s End to become the NEW NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion. 

Result: In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Fergal Devitt defeated Rocky Romero and Sonjay Dutt in a Three-Way match in 10:29 when Fergal Devitt submitted Rocky Romero with a Devitt's End. (42)

Recap:  Machete started this match off in an attempt to show that he would be a worthy successor to Apolo.  When the James Gang started to get the advantage, Homicide got into the ring to turn the tide by turning the match into more of a brawl.  The finish of the match saw Konnan trip up B.G James, so he dropped outside to confront Konnan outside of the ring.  That allowed Homicide to come flying over the ropes and on to B.G with a Tope Con Hilo.  Inside the ring Kip James overwhelmed Machete and put him down with the move that was once known as the Famouser to get the victory.

Result: In a decent match, The James Gang defeated Latin American Xchange IV in 7:56 when Kip James pinned Machete with a Leg Drop Bulldog (51)

Recap:  Christopher Daniels accompanied AJ Styles to the ring for this match, looking to make sure that Joe didn’t do anything to injure Styles like he had done to Daniels.  These two of course have an extensive history, and so it was no surprise that there was a lot of reversals, and evasive maneuvers throughout the match.  It seemed that AJ’s strategy was to not go at full speed and wear himself out, but he did use his speed at times to attempt to wear Joe down.  As the match started to wind down, with the five-minute warning being announced, Styles tried to finish Joe off which turned out to be the fatal mistake.  AJ went for his Moonsault DDT, but Joe just moved out of the way causing Styles to crash to the mat.  Samoa Joe then picked Styles up for the Island Driver, but that only got a two count.  Styles managed one last comeback and put Joe down with a Springboard Forearm, but when he went to the top turnbuckle, Joe caught him and brought him down with the Muscle Buster to successfully defend the WCW World Television Championship.   

Result: In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Samoa Joe defeated AJ Styles in 13:11 by pinfall with a Muscle Buster. Samoa Joe makes defence number sixteen of the WCW World Television title. (66)

Recap:  Prior to the match, Don West came out and did a hype job on the microphone for his client Amazing Red.  This match was another high-flying match, with both teams using the ropes for some high impact moves.  The middle of the match saw Next GEN isolate Billy Kidman, with all three men making quick tags to work Kidman over.  When he finally managed to make the tag to Sabin, the former TNA X-Division Champion came in and quickly turned the tide.  The finish of the match saw Sabin, Shelley, Kidman and Strong fighting outside of the ring.  In the ring it looked like Aries was going to end the match with a Brainbuster, but Red managed to reverse it into a Code Red for the pin fall!

Result: In a decent match, Amazing Red, Chris Sabin and Billy Kidman defeated Next GEN(Alex Shelley, Roderick Strong and Austin Aries) in 9:37 when Amazing Red pinned Austin Aries with a Code Red. (50)

Recap:  Larry Zbyszko came out with his dominant representative, while Raven was accompanied by Ron Killings who had his own personal reasons for disliking Larry.  While Raven managed to get the first attack in on Mike Awesome, the tide soon turned with “The Gladiator” just mauling Raven as the match continued.  Every time it looked like it was over Raven would kick out, while Ron Killings riled the fans up in his support.  Finally, it looked like it was going to be over after Awesome came off the top turnbuckle with an Awesome Splash, but Larry Zbyszko yelled at Awesome to hurt him some more.  Therefore, Mike broke the hold, and pulled Raven up for an Awesomebomb…but Raven slid off his back, turned Mike around and dropped him with a Raven Effect!  But Mike Awesome bounced right back to his feet…so Raven kicked him in the gut and hit another Raven Effect DDT!!  This time when “The Gladiator” stood back up, he was more shakey on his feet.  Raven kicked him with a Superkick to the face, and then a THIRD Raven Effect DDT!  Larry tried to get into the ring, but Killings pulled him back out as Raven went for the pin fall…AND GOT THE THREE!

Result: In a decent match, Raven defeated Mike Awesome in 9:57 by pinfall with three Raven Effect DDT’s. (53)

Recap:  A rematch from the Cruiserweight Championship Round Robin Tournament, these two men went to a draw in their last match against each other.  This time Lethal looked less nervous, and was quicker to go on the attack against the legendary Liger.  That made for a good back and forth match with both men looking like they might get the victory.  In the end it was a flurry of moves from Jay Lethal, including his Flying Elbow, the Lethal Combination, and finally the Lethal Injection that allowed for the WCW Cruiserweight Champion to successfully defending his Championship. 

Result: In a decent match, Jay Lethal defeated Jushin Thunder Liger in 13:07 by pinfall with a Lethal Injection. Jay Lethal makes defence number two of the WCW Cruiserweight title. (57)

Recap:  Much to the fans delight, Sting started this match off against his foe Jeff Jarrett.  Sting quickly showed that there was very little ring rust as he managed to control the match, bringing Monty Brown in to try and double team the Icon.  Instead, Sting managed to put both Jarrett and Brown down, so they retreated to outside of the ring to regroup.  Sting did one of his trademark howls to fire the fans up, before making the tag to DDP.  The former three-time WCW World Champion managed to keep the momentum going for a little bit, until Brown was able to turn the tide with his power.  It was a desperate Diamond Cutter that allowed DDP to make the tag to a loud eruption from the fans.  Sting was back into the match, but soon found himself fighting with Jarrett outside of the ring.  In the ring DDP and Brown settled the match with Monty Brown doing damage to the ribs of DDP, before finishing him off with the Pounce to become the #1 Contender to the WCW World Championship!

Result: In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Jeff Jarrett and Monty Brown defeated Diamond Dallas Page and Sting in 12:58 when Monty Brown pinned Diamond Dallas Page with a Pounce. (63)

Recap:  Abyss brought a chain with him to the ring, while the Champion came out and looked at the WCW World Championship belt hanging from the roof.  Captain Charisma and Abyss circled to start the match, before they both lunged at each other and exchanged blows and chops.  This led to Christian going for a quick Killswitch, Abyss turning it into a Shock Treatment attempt, before Cage bounced off of the ropes and took Abyss down with a Spear!  But that did not last long, and Abyss was the first one to go for the ladder outside of the ring.  This led to the two men fighting over the ladder, before brawling outside, and back into the ring where the ladder was lying upside across the rope.  Cage managed to jump over the top rope and levered the ladder up into the face of Abyss.  From there the two men brawled back out of the ring and into the crowd, and then back into the ring where the ladder was used as a weapon, with Cage getting sent into it as it was leaning against the top turnbuckle in the corner.

James Mitchell slid a steel chair into the ring, and Abyss nailed Cage across the back with it, before he wedged it between the middle and top turnbuckles.  Abyss tried to send Cage into the chair, but the Champion reversed and sent Abyss head first into the chair.  This gave Cage the opportunity to set up the ladder and try to climb, but Abyss pulled him down.  The ladder was once again leaning against a turnbuckle, and Cage and Abyss fought each other, before Abyss launched Cage high into the air with a Back Body Drop and down on the ladder!  While Cage recovered, Abyss went outside where he and James Mitchell set up some tables outside of the ring.  Abyss took an extra table into the ring, and threatened to put Cage through the table with a Powerbomb.  Cage blocked that, and Abyss tried to splash him onto the ladder, but Cage moved out of the way and Abyss crashed into the ladder.  Cage picked the ladder up and dropped it on Abyss, before rolling Abyss onto it.  Cage went to the top turnbuckle and attempted a Frog Splash, but Abyss moved! 

The Challenger went and grabbed the chain and started to whip Cage with it across the ribs, before wrapping it around his fist and nailing Cage with a punch that sent Cage outside.  Now Abyss set up the ladder and started to climb towards the top, but Cage stopped him by throwing a steel chair at his back.  Cage then pulled Abyss off of the ladder, and Abyss lifted him up and put him through the table with a Chokeslam!  Abyss was not done as he went outside the ring and grabbed a velvet bag that he brought into the ring.  Turning the bag upside down, Abyss dumped thumbtacks all over the mat!  Abyss tried to put Cage onto the tacks, but Cage kicked him and tried to go for the Killswitch!  James Mitchell tried to intervene, and Cage dropped him into the tacks!  But that allowed Abyss to recover and he hit a Black Hole Slam into the tacks!  Abyss set up the ladder and slowly started to climb, but as he got to the top the ladder started to shake.  Abyss looked down and realized Cage had not been as injured as he was letting on, and as Abyss looked down, Cage intentionally started to shake the ladder.  Abyss tried to grab the belt, but Cage pushed the ladder over and Abyss crashed through the tables outside of the ring!  That allowed Cage to climb the ladder and retrieve the WCW World Championship belt to retain!

Result: In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Christian Cage defeated Abyss in a Full Metal Mayhem match in 20:18 when Christian Cage retrieved the WCW World Championship belt. Christian Cage makes defence number one of the WCW World Heavyweight title. (60)
