I could write a book about how I feel about WWE and why they ruined my love for (contemporary) wrestling, either by what they did or what they did to other companies
I am the kind of person that hasn't watched a wrestling event in years, but still indulges in some old timers podcasts, so I can't miss this documentary (and Cornette's reaction to it!). Like it or not, Vince was in power before I was born and has ruled the industry for 40 years
I will watch the first episode now and share my opinions here (By the way, why would they release all 6 episodes at the same time?!? Man, 2024 is terrible)
Has anyone else watched it? Thoughts? Is it worth it?

The first episode was alright, I guess. Good production. It covered Vince growing up, buying the company and producing Wrestlemania, so the first 40 years of his life. The narration has been pretty much neutral, but bless Tony Atlas for being the only one that was somewhat critical (I found lots of respect for him after the Dark Side of the Ring episode on Brody's murder, just like I lost all respect for Abdullah the Butcher while watching the same show) They glossed over 2 important things, however. Firstly, I always wondered how Vince got the money to buy the business off his dad, if he grew in poverty (and it's not like his dad was paying him lots for his announcing position). Nobody asked the question. Also, they briefly mention Vince "competing" with the other territories, but I really hope we get more on that on the second episode

I will finish this, but I am not liking it so far
Episode 2 was passable. My god, Hogan looked like an idiot when he pretended that he started the 'Mania 3 match without knowing the finish. Yeah ok, sure pal. The line on the referee rape allegation, in hindsight, says all you need to know about Vince
I groaned at episode 3 since the very beginning, there were no need to do an entire show on WCW going live and the screwjob, especially after Dark Side of the Ring. It's stuff that any wrestling fan has seen so many times already. And the next show is about attitude era? Great, even better. This might become a wasted opportunity

Yeah, episode 4 was all about the Attitude Era and Owen's death. These stories have been told so many times. Not much to note, if not that still Vince doesn't regret continuing the show when Owen's blood was all over the canvas

Can't say that I found out anything new I can use in the mods. Maybe this is because I've already watched so many other documentaries and listens to podcasts.

Exactly, it didn't do anything for me either
Episode 5 wasn't bad, you can't help but feel sorry for Shane and dislike Stephanie, but it was too much stuff in an hour (like, talking about the streak was pointless)
Episode 6 gave me a new disgust for Heyman, ew. And it still feels like an incomplete opera, it's like finding out that the hero is a killer about 10 minutes before the end of a book and just being casual about it. This was absolutely disappointing and I can't imagine how useless it would have been without the scandal itself

Listening to some of Jim Cornette's thoughts and he agrees with Marc on a fair bit.
He's also getting sick of the cross-pollination with topics on a lot of these shows and seeing the same things taking up too much of multiple different shows.
Ditto for Marc's thoughts on Shane. Cornette has long referred to Shane as 'the good one' and him and his co-host felt so sorry for Shane and how it seems like he's long wanted respect and appreciation from his dad and he's always struggled to get it.
The big thing for Cornette though, was he'd have loved more on Vince's earlier years. What the hell happened to the man in the past that it drove him to become who he became?

One last thing, didn't Vince Sr allow him to pay for the WWF, from the WWF?
Like taking money from some of the bigger towns to pay off the board members and whoever else?
Kind of like how some sporting teams will be taken over by rich men borrowing money and paying the debts they created, with the money the club makes.

Exactly! I wanted him to expand on that, as for decades we heard that he was such a self made millionaire, when it looks like his father passed him the business at very convenient terms
After all, Stephanie became the head writer in 2000 due to her "Bachelor of Science in communications". I mean, good luck with getting any kind of managerial job if that is your first experience, let alone a top position in wrestling
