Show Rating: B Recap:
»» This week’s show started with an announcement: in the main event, there will be a huge clash between both Road Warriors. Animal and Hawk will face each other for a chance to wrestle Ric Flair at WrestleWar for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
vs. Match #1 - Nikita Koloff vs. The Terminator: No surprises in the opener. The “jobber monster” fell by Nikita Koloff’s feet at the 3-minute-mark, after a Russian-American Lariat. - Nikita def. Terminator - Pinfall - 3 minutes -
| »» After the match, Big Bubba Rogers and Dick Murdoch attacked Nikita Koloff. With disadvantage, and without Dusty Rhodes having time to help, nothing could prevent Koloff from being hit with his United States title belt. Then, Murdoch made his will know: the ‘Captain Redneck’ wants a title match at WrestleWar.
»» Kevin Sullivan appeared, again alongside Dark Journey, with the valet wearing a thought-provoking leather dress and a leash. Sullivan said that’s he’s sick of the traditional values of the NWA. According to him, those values keep him chained, as well as they keep the fans dumb. «During dark times, we’re forced to change. So will they.»
vs.
Match #2 - Jimmy Valiant vs. Tiger Conway Jr.: The ‘Boogie-Woogie Man’ kept the crowd electric throughout this comedy-based match, in which Conway Jr. also played his part in entertaining. However, the fan-favorite won the bout, after a Flying Elbow Drop. - Valiant def. Conway Jr. - Pinfall - 5 minutes - »» At the stage, Barry Windham and Ron Garvin answered Paul Jones’ provocations from last week. The duo said that if Jones doesn’t think the US Tag Team titles are relevant and the champions aren’t worthy, then maybe Jones would put the NWA World Tag Team titles on the line in a title unification match at WrestleWar. Nothing else could be said, nor agreed, as the Awesome Twosome (Manny Fernandez and Rick Rude) simply stormed through Windham and Garvin, knocking them silly for Paul Jones’ laughter. »» In a video, The Horsemen, with Ric Flair speaking, ended up questioning The Road Warriors’ rescue of Arn Anderson last week. Specially, because ‘Double A’ never wished any well upon them. Finally, Ric Flair showed some disdain towards one of the Road Warriors getting a World title shot, claiming it looks too easy to get a shot in the NWA. «There ain’t a chance that any of them will take the title from the Nature Boy-ah! Woooo!» Match #3 - Big Bubba Rogers & Dick Murdoch vs. The MOD Squad: Basher and Spike had a small advantage, called experience. However, the heel duo were the real favorites of the match. Bubba and Murdoch brought some tube to the ring. At the end, Bubba guarded the squared circle, as Murdoch pinned Spike following a Calf Branding. - Rogers & Murdoch def. MOD Squad - Pinfall - 6 minutes - »» After the match, Rogers and Murdoch revealed what was inside of the tube. Nothing, but a flag, similar to the one Nikita Koloff now brings to the ring (part-Soviet, part-USA). Without any words, Big Bubba Rogers threw the flag on the mat and stepped on it, causing massive disapproval of the capital’s crowd, as Dick waved the Confederate flag. Defending the anti-Cold War cause, Dusty Rhodes came to the ring… and instantly got busted open after another shot with said flag. Big Bubba then laid out the challenge: «Come WrestleWar, Dusty, your flag… my flag. Let’s see who can conquer the wrestling world, Dusty!» Match #4 - Contendership Match - Road Warrior Animal (w/Ellering) vs. Road Warrior Hawk (w/Ellering): Paul Ellering was more of a ringside spectator than manager. The result didn’t matter for him, this time. Either way, one of his clients would be facing Ric Flair for the ‘ten pounds of gold’ at WrestleWar, and both Road Warriors would still be as connected as ever. However, whoever thought the match would be friendly was wrong. It was more of a brawl than anything, although very respectful. Both wanted to win, and Washington, D.C. was electric. At the end, Hawk got the win, after escaping a Powerslam attempt and pushing Animal hard, chest first against the turnbuckle. Right after, he followed it with a big Diving Clothesline. After the match, both Road Warriors, along with Paul Ellering, hugged in the ring and raised each other’s hand. - Hawk def. Animal - Pinfall - 11 minutes - »» It took The Horsemen no time, however, to ruin the moment. Lex Luger and Tully Blanchard tried to attack the tired Road Warriors. A brawl between both sides erupted. It didn’t last long, however. As fists flew, someone came to the ring (…) (…) Ole Anderson! The former Horsemen took a page off his younger cousin, showing as the enforcer, helping The Road Warriors and sending Luger and Blanchard into retreat. That was the way that Ole found to pay Animal and Hawk for saving Arn Anderson last week. Once again, the surprise took over the crowd. The show ended, with Ole, Ellering and The Road Warriors owning the ring. :::::

National Wrestling Alliance – March 1987 – Week 3 – News:
Ric Flair vs. Road Warrior Hawk to Headline WrestleWar There’s only one week separating us from National Wrestling Alliance’s next supercard. WrestleWar is scheduled for March 21st. And if days ago, the card seemed destined to be a surprise, after the most recent World Championship Wrestling, it doesn’t leave much to the imagination. Three matches were announced during said emission. The main event will oppose Ric Flair to Road Warrior Hawk, in a match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Besides, Big Bubba Rogers will have his biggest match to date, facing Dusty Rhodes in a Flag Match. As for Nikita Koloff, he’s scheduled to defend the NWA United States Championship against Dick Murdoch. It was also hinted that NWA’s tag team division would take a turn. After Paul Jones’ words towards the NWA United States Tag Team Championships, Barry Windham and Ron Garvin felt like defending their own turf, leading to talks regarding a possible title unification.
However, that’s not all. After the emission ended, a graphic aired, featuring four extra matches that probably represent the whole card for WrestleWar. And three of them revolve around the tag team division. The unification will, indeed, occur. However, both titles will be defended prior to said unification. As such, the Awesome Twosome (Manny Fernandez & Rick Rude) will defend their NWA World Tag Team Championships versus the impromptu team of Jimmy Garvin (Ron’s cousin) & Mike Graham. As for Barry Windham & Ron Garvin, they will face The Russian Team (Ivan Koloff & Vladimir Petrov, also from Paul Jones’ Army), defending the NWA United States Tag Team Championships. The winners, of course, will meet to unify the four belts.
Finally, the National Wrestling Alliance board decided to put the NWA World Television Championship belt on the line at WrestleWar, much to disagreement of The Horsemen. According to statement later released, Road Warrior Animal will challenge Tully Blanchard for the title, as a punishment for The Horsemen attacking The Road Warriors at the end of the latest World Championship Wrestling. :::::

Show Rating: B- Recap - Takeaways:They Who Laugh Last… The go-home show for WrestleWar was, obviously, centred on the main rivalries going to the pay-per-views. Hyping was the objective, and the focus, of course, was, for the most part, on the clash between The Horsemen and The Road Warriors. On the main event, Tully Blanchard shared the ring with Animal before both’s meeting at the pay-per-view. In tag team action, The Road Warriors faced The Horsemen in a heated match marked by J.J. Dillon’s efforts to intervene in favour of his squadron - most stopped by Paul Ellering. Near the end, The Horsemen got a taste of their manager’s venom after Hawk dodged a slap that rocked Lex Luger. Luger was then taken out of equation and Tully Blanchard was finished with the Doomsday Device. Dillon could do nothing but watch. Ric Flair, himself, was also a presence on the show. First, he claimed he’ll be champion for a long time, and that Hawk doesn’t stand a chance. After the main event, though, he made sure that The Horsemen were the last ones laughing. In rare fashion, the ‘Nature Boy’ solved a brawl between both teams, by taking a cheap shot at his WrestleWar opponent, low blowing him and running away with Luger and Blanchard while mocking The Road Warriors. A Matter of Values As for the feud opposing The Super-Powers and the duo of Big Bubba Rogers and Dick Murdoch, it featured the most out-of-the-box segment of the show. In an outside promo, Murdoch vowed to take the United States title off Nikita Koloff and give it back to the worthy people of America. After that, Big Bubba Rogers got to a lenght such as grabbing a Super-Powers’ shirt wearing passing-by young adult and shredded said shirt before threatening the fan. Rogers then claimed he will do the same to the Super-Powers' flag after he defeats Dusty Rhodes in WrestleWar’s Flag Match. Instantly, the ‘American Dream’ got to stick it back to both Confederate enthusiasts, by defeating redneck Bobby Jaggers in a short match that ended with the Bionic Elbow. After said match, Dusty questioned the true values of Rogers and Murdoch, and if ripping the shirt of a young man who simply supports world peace is acceptable for them. «Are those kind of things supposed to take place in your ideal America?», questioned Rhodes, having the crowd entirely behind him. Other Takeaways The tag team championship unification mini-tournament scheduled for tomorrow’s WrestleWar was also in focus. The Russian Team, meant to face Barry Windham and Ron Garvin, defeated The MOD Squad in a dominant showing after a Bearhug Assisted Russian Sickle on Basher. After the match, Paul Jones gave his preview for tomorrow, claiming that both teams representing the Paul Jones’ Army (The Russian Team and Awesome Twosome) would win their respective matches and unify the belts in a friendly bout. Another team, that we hadn’t seen much of lately, got some time. The Midnight Express, alongside Jim Cornette, promised in a video to bring even more spark (fabulous spark) to the tag team division of the National Wrestling Alliance. As for the ‘Prince of Darkness’: we had seen Kevin Sullivan talk a lot lately about his plans to rid the NWA off its traditional values. This time, he got the chance to back up his talking. Effortlessly, he beat Rocky King with the Devil Stomp at the 3-minute mark before posing with Dark Journey, looking dominant. :::::
