Halloween Havoc 1989: The Spooktacular Showdown
Date: October 28, 1989 Location: Civic Center, Springfield, Illinois
Match Card 1. Opening Match: The Young Pistols vs. The Fabulous Freebirds With the bell ringing, the Young Pistols showcased their agile moves, matching the experience of the Freebirds. This fast-paced encounter culminated in a surprise roll-up pin by Stephen Prazak (Tracy Smothers), taking the victory and giving the Young Pistols their big break!

Ricky Steamboat's reign as World Heavyweight Champion ends up being short-lived as Cactus Jack costs Steamboat the title in Flair's invoked rematch on November 3rd, setting up the Cactus Jack/Steamboat match for tonight. Tommy Rich upset Rick Steiner in early October to become the new TV Champion, defending it tonight against his arch-rival The Great Muta. Main Event:

Ric Flair (c) beat Sting A highly anticipated showdown, this match sees the Nature Boy defending his title against the up-and-coming fan favorite Sting. Sting regained the World Heavyweight Championship from Ric Flair on November 29th and is making his first title defense against Horseman Sid Vicious. The Steiners regained the titles from the Midnight Express on 11/29 as well and the Midnight Express requested a rematch one more time. The Z-Man defeated Tommy Rich on 11/22 to win the TV title and defends it tonight against Horseman Barry Windham. Tully Blanchard & Lex Luger make a return for one night under the Horsemen banner for the WarGames main event.
Card: 1. Opening Match: Wild Bill Irwin vs. Tommy Rich This match features two fan favorites, with Irwin showcasing his brawler style against Rich's classic babyface tactics. Rich manages to secure the victory with a roll-up after dodging a charge from Irwin. Winner: Tommy Rich

Sting loses to the title back to Ric Flair, thanks to some interference from the Horsemen, notably Barry Windham but Sting repays the favor to the Horsemen, costing Windham the TV title against Mike Rotunda a few days later. The Midnight Express regain their titles from the Steiners but are through with them and defend against the Rock N' Roll Express. Brian Pillman pulls double duty as he defends the NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship against Jushin Thunder Liger but also must face Terry Funk inside a steel cage later in the night.
