January, 1983.

Jim Cornette would call 1983 the greatest and most successful year in wrestling. Every company was doing good business, serious tragedies had yet to happen, the territory system was still in full swing, the NWA was still a dominant force in professional wrestling and for the most part...people thought wrestling was a legitimate sport, or at the very least they respected the fact that it was presented as one. However, one way or another things are going to change. Vince Mcmahon is going to expand and down south Jim Crockett has similar ideas whether he wants to admit or not. Meanwhile, a group that had broken away from the NWA long ago had been operating since the sixties. It was one of the most recognized names in the industry, with potential to at least survive the onslaught that the WWF expansion was going to bring. Historically, it did not. My goal as the AWA owner, is to survive and present an alternative product that is different enough from the WWF and the NWA that it stands out on it's own. This is that company. This, is the AWA.

The Story So Far

As wrestling veteran Verne Gagne decides to take a step back as the owner of the AWA, in this alternate history we are creating he hands the reigns over to his son, Greg Gagne who had been acting as the head booker up until this point. Greg has ideas that his old school father may not agree with, but now with Verne acting as a road agent these changes can come into place. Greg has a vision of a "hybrid" product that combines the entertainment aspects of the WWF and the legitimate aspect that the product had been presenting so far and combining the two, still maintaining the idea of presenting wrestling as a legitimate sport, but introducing a story telling aspect that would give fans reason to tune in and be excited on a regular basis for AWA programming.

Owner Goals

Short Term

Be Prepared To Lose Talent

The AWA is GOING to lose talent, either to the WWF or to other territories, it is inevitable due to our size and our inability to expand as quickly as other territories right now. The aim of combating this is to try and get as many key players into exclusive contracts as possible if we can.

Youth Movement

If our move to garner exclusive talent fails, either via Exclusive P.P.A or written contracts, then we also need to focus on building stars out of younger talent, out of the few legitimate younger stars we have and out of stars that can be found via free agency

Get Control of The Locker Room

There's a lot of hostility in the locker room when starting this mod, Hogan is not well liked and is usually felt isolated, there are multiple negative influences and the rules overall have a negative influence. Alter the rules and try to inject talent into the roster who will begin to boost morale. Over time building Hogan should remove that feeling of isolation.

Long Term

The Hogan Question

I want Hogan to be a key player in our roster and one of our icons. However his deal with NJPW poses an issue. We can risk breaking our relationship with Japan in an attempt to get Hogan exclusively, this risks creating hostilities and even then it doesn't entirely guarantee us Hogan. Especially when WWF inevitably expands and begins offering workers written contracts that will surpass our Exclusive P.P.A ones. I'll push him, but I'll need to keep in mind he could jump ship and be ready for it

Light Heavyweight Division

Something I think could really boost our midcard is the Light Heavyweight Championship. I want to modify the championship, make it a Midcard Title and begin building a division around it. I'm thinking of hiring unique talents, especially talent from Japan and Mexico that we can introduce to an AWA audience and create an exciting division.This will take time to create however and I will be focusing on building this division on our Tour Shows and on pre show matches initially, before introducing the Championship back on to AWA Television.

Get On ESPN

Historically the AWA managed to get on to ESPN. I want to match this for historical accuracy and that ESPN would be a great broadcaster for our product.

Survive

I have no idea how long this series will last, we could end up going out of business like the real company did. We could defy the odds and create an alternative history, we could succeed. My main aim is to try and do the best I can with the product and create something interesting and exciting to book and for the readers.

AWA Seperates From Talent and New Signings

The American Wrestling Association would bring an end to their long standing relationships with Wally Karbo and Stanley Blackburn. This is a new regime, despite the Gagne name still being attached to AWA. Do not immediately jump to conclusions that things are going to be business as usual. It's no secret that for some time Greg Gagne has been trying to help Verne look at things from a more "modern" perspective, as opposed to his old, tried and tested methods that may have worked back in the sixties. Although this may be more symbolic of new management. The names Wally Karbo and Stanley Blackburn have had long ties to the company and to see them go is a shock.

The new signings the company is making however should be a sign of potential. The AWA is looking to slowly inject youth into it's roster and are making moves to up their game on the commentary booth.

Joining Rod Trongard and Gene Okerlund on AWA Commentary will be sportscaster Jim Ross, who some wrestling fans may also be familiar with from Mid-South wrestling. The thought seems to be that Ross will help add an atmosphere of legitimacy with his commentary. "The WWF has Gorilla Monsoon, the NWA has Gordon Solie. The AWA wants to try and have a voice for their product in Jim Ross." said one representative from the company "whether we can have great chemistry form from the team is the challenge. Whatever happens going forward in our announcing team. AWA sees Jim Ross as a key figure at the commentary booth."

In terms of talent, the AWA has also brought in Eddie Gilbert, Koko B Ware and The Road Warriors, alongisde Sherri Martel whose role will be in a non wrestling capacity initially, as the company is still unsure whether to delve into the idea of developing a women's division. Whilst Jim Ross will be expected to start immediately on AWA Television, it is unknown when we will expect to see new wrestling talent.

"The strategy going forward will be to utilise our touring shows as an opportunity to expose new and developing talents to our home audience, before moving them on to our main television broadcast." explained the representative

Apparently, the AWA Tour shows which were weekly events the company would run are being reformatted. Essentially being used like a developmental show for potential new talent.

There's rumors of a NEW authority that will be taking over the match making for All Star Wresrtling. This yet to be announced General Manager has already started by outting together a tournament that will be taking place over the next four weeks of AWA Television. The Tournament will see SIXTEEN wrestlers competing over the next four weeks for the chance to be entered into a Battle Royale at the End of Month Show in January. This 8 Man Battle Royale will decide who will be the number one contender for Nick Bockwinkel's AWA Championship. There's no word as of yet whether Bockwinkel will be defending his championship this month as the focus shifts on to the Number One Contender spot, however we assume that Nick Bockwinkel will make his opinions known on the matter.

January 1983

Episode One

Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to All Star Wrestling here with the American Wrestling Association! I am your host as always Rod Trongard, joined this evening by Gene Okerlund and folks it's my pleasure to introduce to you a new face to our announcing team. We hope he will become someone that you will familiarize yourselves with and a voice that you can look forward to hearing on our programming. Mister Jim Ross.

Jim Ross

Thank you very much Rod, it's an honor and a pleasure to be here and I can't wait to see the action that the AWA has in store for us tonight. As some of you AWA fans already may know, we have a new authority calling the shots tonight, although we are not enitrely sure as of yet who it is. It's rumored this man, whoever he ma be wishes to keep his identity secret as he believes he should only make himself known if absolutely necessary.

Gene Okerlund

Well whoever it is he's put together a sixteen man tournament. Over the next four weeks sixteen men randomly chosen from the AWA roster will be facing off against each other in one on one competition. Once we have eight victors from these matches, those eight men will go on to face each other in a Battle Royale match at the AWA Super Show at the end of the month!

And the winner of that Battle Royale will go on to become the Number One Contender to Nick Bockwinkel's AWA World Heavyweight Championship! But folks tonight we will also get to crown a new AWA Television Champion! As we witness Jerry "The King" Lawler taking on a new arrival to the AWA "The Soulman" Koko B. Ware

In a decent opening bout that showcased a surprising chemistry between Steve O and Steve Regal, the two showcased a quick, athletic match between one another. However it would ultimately be Ssteve Regal who picks up the win and carries on through to the Battle Royale

Buck Zumhofe Vs. Curt Hennig

Curt Hennig would have an excellent showing against Buck Zumhofe, the young rising star clearly was ahead in terms of his technical and athletic abilities. He picked up a decisive and convincing win over Buck, making the fans wonder why it is he was not entered into the tournament

Meanwhile Backstage

We go backstage to find the AWA Tag Team Champions, Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell are both totally LAID out in the locker room area. Referees and Medical Staff are gathering around the two unconscious wrestlers who have both been left battered and bruised. Iit seems as if the cameras were not there in time when word had been recieved that an attack had taken place. Exactly who it is that has committed this assault against the champions is a mystery.

However many think it's one that will be incredibly difficult to overcome, as Jerry Lawler has quite the reputation here in the AWA and it's no secret, that with the AWA Television Championship up for grabs that he is both willing and able to resort to more nefarious tactics in order to gain a hold of the gold tonight. I'm as ready as I'm ever going to be Gene! Do I know that Jerry Lawler has a bad reputation here in the AWA, hell I know it, he knows it, the whole wrestlin'world knows EXACTLY what Jerry Lawler is capable of! But don't think for a second that's gonna' dampen my spirits, or extinguish my soul! Because win or lose or draw what tonight is for me? Is an opportunity! An opportunity to show not only Jerry Lawler, not only the AWA fans, but the entire wrestlin' world "Mean" Gene, just exactly what it is I can do and that I am worth far more...than any of them expect me to be! Now if you don't mind...I hear that crowd a callin'!

Jerry "The King" Lawler Vs. "The Soulman" Koko B. Ware

Lawler and Koko would compete in a matcht hat could arguably considered the highlight of the night outside of the main event as the two faced off in a competitive bout against one another. Koko managed to get in more offense than most people expeted when facing off against the established star in Jerry Lawler. Despite his valiant efforts however, the low and dirty tricks of the King would come into play as Lawler managed to sneak in a low blow and roll up Koko B ware, grabbing a handful of tights and getting the pin in order to become the AWA Television Champion

The Most Superior Athlete

Ladies and Gentleman, please welcome backstage with me here right now, none other than the AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Nick Bockwinkel, joined by his manager, none other than Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Nick Bockwinkel, it seems as if the eyes of the AWA fans are currently shifted onto this tournament that has been put together in order to name your next Number One Contender. However, there has been no word on whether you will be defending your championship at the Super Show this month as it seems the focus is currently on crowning an official contender. What are your thoughts right now?

Bobby Heenan

His thoughts? His thoughts?! What do you think his thoughts are you buffoon! Do you have any idea who it is you are talking to? Who it is this company is just putting aside for the sake of some side show attraction that they dare to call a number one contender tournament? This man is the sole reason that this company even exists! You would not be standing here with that microphone in your hand if it weren't for the years of blood, sweat and tears that he has dedicated to this company AND to HIS Championship!

Nick Bockwinkel

It's alright Bobby...I can forgive your transgressions Gene, I can even forgive the transgressions of the AWA fans for focusing on this little spectacle that's been thrown together by our anonymous authority figure. If I were a member of these unwashed, unhygienic, uneducated peons that are the AWA audience, than I too would be excited by the CIRCUS that AWA management has DARED to call a tournament! Take a long look at the list of the sixteen men that are participating in this tournament Gene Okerlund, take a hard glance and try to fathom, to muster if you can a single man that can even come close to matching me in terms of ability! The fact of the matter is this...this tournament? It's nothing more than a side show, a carnival, a distraction to the fact that I am just so superior in everything that I do...that the AWA has ran out of contenders for me...and all this is? Is a sad, and feeble attempt to try and find somebody they can create some illusion of credibility towards

Well you say there is nobody credible, but we are getting ready to witness the Main Event this evening which will be hosting two of the potential favorites in this tournament, Rick Martel and Hulk Hogan...both men who our audience believe have a chance against you and if I'm honest with you Nick? Even I believe either of these men could give you a run for your money

Did you hear that?! The nerve! The audacity! The outright insult that you've just thrown at this great man! This great champion! You are lucky Gene Okerlund! Do you hear me?! Lucky that you are not a performer, because I would have it in my right mind to organise a match with you and m client for your audacious remarks!

Nick Bockwinkel

Gene is just indulging in fantasies Bobby, as are the rest of the AWA fans...and I suppose you can't blame them. I certainly don't. Look at me...take a good long look at me. What you see before you? Is a man that cannot be beaten...no...allow me to rephrase that. What you see before you? Is a man that REFUSES to be beaten! My strength, my fortitude, my willpower, my intelligence, my athleticism I have spent years, NO! DECADES! Crafting it, honing it, strengthening it to the point where I stand here proud as the man and the CHAMPION that I am today. I'm the man that helped build the very foundations of this company! When you think of the American Wrestling Association, you THINK of Nick Bockwinkel and that is because like it or not...I am the MOST superior athlete in wrestling today...and whether or not I have a contender this month? I'm guaranteed to have going forward after this tournament...it's all a matter of time and I've already proved to the world that I am more than dedicated to putting every second I have in to being the best. Whether it's this month, next month...or years down the line Gene Okerlund...not one man will be able to surpass me. I am...and forever will be the greatest and most successful champion this company will EVER know!

Main Event

Hulk Hogan Vs. Rick Martel

Winner Enters The Number One Contender Battle Royale

In a contender for the match of the night, Hulk Hogan and Rick Martel would leave the fans split down the middle of who to root for in this bout to enter the Battle Royale. It was back and forth match from the very beginning. Rick Martel surprising us all at his ability to take it to the Hulkster as his used his fast paced athleticism to his advantage, as it was clear he would not be able to outmatch Hogan in terms of raw strength and power. It seemed for a moment as if Martel may have had the upper hand as he had Hogan laid flat on his back in the middle of the ring. However, as Martel would head to the top turnbuckle to perform a high flying move, he would suddenly meet interference from a huge, hulking figure that stepped over the barricades of the audience.

Jerry Blackwell!

Blackwell would strike Martel and knock him off the turnbuckle, sending him tumbling down. Hogan would raise back to his feet, completely unaware of the goings on and hit the fallen Martel with an atomic leg drop, picking up the win and heading through to the Battle Royale.

It was strange, sitting at my desk, the same desk the old man had used since the day the company had opened its doors. The idea that I would one day be taking over the family business always lingered in my mind but now? It was real. I was here and I'd just finished booking the very first show of the year. All in all I was happy with it, we put together a good show, the fans enjoyed it and there was just enough difference from dad's idea of what the product should be to bring some much needed freshness.

It wasn't easy letting Wally Karbo and Stanley Blackburn go, dad fought hard to keep them. More so for Karbo than for Blackburn. Wally was here from the start, helped dad found the company. I just couldn't see a future for them in an AWA that I was running. Dad wasn't the only one with concerns about my regime changes it seemed. As I sat down looking over the numbers from the house and the ratings report from the first All Star Wrestling I actually ran. There was a knock at my office door.

"Come in..."

The door opened, and the moment he stepped in, every bit of my attention turned to him. He came in a bright white suit, perfectly polished black loafers, he kept his eyes covered with slightly tinted sunglasses. His fair blonde hair styled to perfection, hanging on his shoulder was the AWA World Heavyweight Championship. It was Bockwinkel

"Nick! Good to see you!" I'd rise up from my chair and offered him the seat in front of my desk. If there was one person who had respect that equalled what I had for my father, it was Nick Bockwinkel, and I'd learned enough from how dad did business to know that he was a man who should be treated with respect. He took a seat, slowly taking off his sunglasses and placing them on the desk.

"Congratulations on your first successful show." Bockwinkel was not much different than how he presented himself on camera, well spoken, intelligent, purpose in his tone. "I hope that there will be many more to follow."

"Thank you Nick. That means a lot coming from you." I wanted to crack a could smile, but I could see the slight concern that was on Nick's face. I had to try and pry out his real reason for coming here "Although dad's a little worried..."

"Did you expect any other reaction?" Nick asked with a grin "This has been his baby for over twenty years Greg...give him time and he won't try and step in on your decisions."

"Might be a lot of time after getting rid of Karbo and Blackburn..."

"Hmmm..." Bockwinkel nodded, pondering for a moment what to say "Well, he and Karbo were close...but I understand. It was nothing personal. Just business. All part of the regime change right?"

"Right." I nodded, smiling, glad that at least my champion understood what I was doing.

"I suppose we're all a little concerned what the regime change might bring..." He added, immediately shifting the tone.

"What do you mean Nick?" I asked confused.

"I'm not getting any younger Greg." He stated bluntly. "I'm forty eight years old, a lot of people probably consider that I'm hitting my twilight years of my career."

"What do those people know?" I asked him. Yeah, Nick was nearing fifty. Of course the thought of him "Passing the torch" had already crossed my mind. In fact I was already working out the road to making it happen. But the idea of "getting rid" of Nick Bockwinkel? That was something I would never have allowed. " You think you're going to end up like Karbo and Blackburn because of that?"

"Well I know you want to inject some youth into the roster and..."

"Nick!" I interjected, chuckling as I walked over and placed my hand on his shoulder "Nick...you are my champion. You're the greatest heel I have, arguably the greatest wrestler I have...and you're the best champion we've ever had...don't tell dad I said that."

Bockwinkel chuckled "I won't."

"When the time is right you'll pass the torch..."I was upfront and honest with him, because he deserved that much. "But it will do good business, it will make sense and when it happens? I don't want you to think for a single second that means it's the end for you here." It was strange, seeing our current champion and top heel, a man who had done years of business with my family concerned for his future in the company was strange. I suppose that's the nature of the business though. Just because I was Verne Gagne's son didn't mean your position was safe...as I had to unfortunately prove with Wally Karbo and Stanley Blackburn...but neither of those men were Nick Bockwinkel.

"As long as there is an AWA...there will always be a place for Nick Bockwinkel..." I assured him "Whether you are wrestling or not...in fact while I have you here Nick. I have an offer for you."

"An offer?" he asked raising his eyebrows.

"You know the wrestling school dad has been running?"

"You mean the barn?" Nick asked with a chuckle.

"Yes, the barn" I chuckled back, remembering the sounds of men grunting and screaming as dad would push them to their limits training them in his old barn. "Well I was thinking of making a couple investments and...uh...improving the barn, into an actual wrestling school."

"Smart idea." Bockwinkel nods approvingly "A barn isn't exactly the most welcoming image."

"And it isn't the seventies any more..."I added "Needless to say. Dad isn't stepping back only in terms of business, he wants to focus on being a road agent. So that leaves a trainer spot open." I reached out my hand, offering it for Bockwinkel to shake "I'd like you to be the head trainer."

AWA All Star Wrestling

January 1983, Episode 2

Introduction

Good evening wrestling fans! Welcome once again to All Star Wrestling, presented to you always by the American Wrestling Association. Rod Trongard joined as always by Jim Ross and Gene Okerlund and tonight gentlemen? We see a continuation of the tournament that is set out to find eight man who will take part in a Battle Royale to name a number one contender for Nick Bockwinkel's Championship.

Jim Ross

Last week Nick Bockwinkel made his opinion on the tournament known, the champion not seeming too concerned about the possible contenders this Battle Royale could present him. Meanwhile folks, this week we can expect the first of what we are being told will be a regular and ongoing challenge laid forth by the AWA Television Champion, Jerry Lawler. We'll here more about that from Lawler himself here tonight as he sets out to defend his championship for the first time tonight.

Also ladies and gentlemen, we expect to hear an explanation from Jerry Blackwell as to why it is he interfered in the Main Event last night, ruining Rick Martel's chances of entering into the Battle Royale.

Buck Zumhofe Vs. Mike Graham

Winner Enters Number One Contender Battle Royale

In a decent opening bout, Mike Graham and Buck Zumhofe did better than expected, perhaps the motivation of entering the Contender battle Royale did the trick. However Mike Graham would ultimately pick up the win over Zumhofe, emerging victorious from a Boston Crab

Jerry Lawler's Open Challenge Part 1.

Jerry Lawler is out in the ring, microphone in hand, title wrapped around the shoulder with a giant smirk upon his face. The fans are raining down abuse and hatred, although seemingly to deaf ears as Lawler stands seemingly triumphant right in the middle of the room.

You know what amuses me? That all of you pathetic pieces of trash think that you can get under my skin with your disrespect, but each and every one of you watching here tonight? Each and every one of you watching at home? You all wish you had just the slightest fraction of talent that I had...because maybe then you'd at least have the honor of being compared to the likes of me. Instead? All you are, are jealous outsiders, looking in at the spectacle of greatness before you with full awareness...that you will never even come close to my level!

Lawler brandishes the Championship towards the camera, letting the shine and sparkle reflect back into the lens as he laughs triumphantly, despite the protest from the AWA fans for him being there.

Last week you saw the beginning, of what is going to be the greatest and longest reign this company will ever lay it's eyes upon. Last week, I won the vacant AWA Television Championship and I am so confident in m victory, so confident in my ability to be the greatest Champion on AWA Television to date, that I am ready and willing to defend this belt every single week on television to any and all who think they are ready to challenge me!

Lawler is cut off before he can continue, as the fans cheer at the arrival of one of their favorites on the ramp...

It's Curt Hennig, the young up and comer, the son of former AWA wrestler Larry Hennig, a possible future superstar within the company. The young rising star has a microphone in his hand, staring Lawler down from the stage entrance

Lawler...I think I speak for everybody in attendance today when I say the idea of having you come out every week on television sounds like an absolute nightmare! You come out here and you flaunt yourself as if you are the walking image of perfection. You claim to be The King of professional wrestling? Well take a good look Lawler, because I am ready and willing to put an early end to your reign!

Hennig is walking towards Lawler as he speaks, the crowd cheering at the idea of these two facing off, as Hennig enters the ring the audience hits a fever pitch as the two step face to face. Lawler hesitates a moment, before shooting a smirk and preparing himself to respond.

Jerry "The King" Lawler

You know something kid? I have to admire your nerve and your bravery, you had the guts to come out here and do what most men couldn't...but I hate to break it to you kid, but somebody had already beaten you to the punch. You see? With this being the first week of my open challenge? I had already discussed and organised a match beforehand with AWA management and we came to the conclusion of somebody who is...worthy of my time...

By the sounds of it Lawler is just coming up with excuses, and that this open challenge is not quite as "open" as it was initially advertised. However before Hennig has the time to interject, Jerry Lawler jumps back in...

But let it be known! I am a fair and just king and champion...I'll tell you what I'll do Curt. I'll give you a shot at my television championship...if...and only if you can defeat an opponent of my choosing next week on All Star Wrestling! You win? I promise you. I give you my word, you'll get a shot at my championship. You fail? Then you'll have to go to the back of the line and wait your turn! But I suggest you sit and take notes with the rest of these peasants and watch how a CHAMPION wrestles, because my first contender is waiting for his match!

Hennig nods as the two men continue to stare one another down. He slowly makes his way out of the ring, pointing towards Lawler and mouthing the words "You better be ready..."

Jerry Lawler Vs......Jake Milliman?!

To say the fans were surprised at the sight of Jake Milliman was an understatement. It suddenly became as clear as crystal exactly how legitimate this so called "open" challenge really was and that The King had organised a match that, no offence to Jake Milliman, but many would predict to see Lawler crowned victorious. and that's exactly what happens in this ridiculous spectacle of self congratulatory arrogance.

Ladies and Gentlemen right now please welcome Jerry Blackwell alongide his manage Sheik-Adnan, last week Jerry you interfered in the main event between Hulk Hogan and Rick Martel, costing Martel a win and his chance to enter the Number One Contender Battle Royale, I think I speak for every AWA fan when I ask what your reasoning for this unprovoked involvement on your part?

MEAN...GENE...OKERLUND! What do you see when you take a look at Jerry Blackwell?! What do the AWA fans SEE when they take a look at Jerry Blackwell! I'll TELL YOU what they see Mean Gene! They see the most POWERFUL! The Most DOMINANT! The most FEARSOME FORCE in the AWA today...and where pray tell was his placement in this tournament Mean Gene? Where was my MONSTTER'S rightful part in this chase for a number one contender? It was nowhere to be found!

INSTEAD....Instead they hand a spot, to the weak...scrawny...TWIG that is Rick Martel! RICK! Consider yourself LUCKY that all I did was knock you off of that Turnbuckle! Count yourself LUCKY...that I did not take it upon myself to give you a much harsher punishment! Because if I could go back and do it again...NOT ONLY would I make sure you couldn't enter that Tournament...I would make sure that you could never wrestle an AWA match again!

It was a dominant showing from Jerry Blackwell. Credit where it is due in Steve Regal's attempt to overcome the power and mass of the Super Heavyweight, showcasing his technical abilities and speed. However the monster was just too much to handle. As Blackwell would pick up a win after hitting a devastating body splash.

To be fair Hogan, Jerry Blackwell is not in the upcoming Battle Royale but up next we are going to see two possible entrants in our Main Event, Jim Brunzell going up against another one of the potential favorites in this tournament, Jesse Ventura. Any words for these two men tonight?

WELL IT'S NO SECRET MEAN GENE THAT THE HULKSTER IS HAPPY TO TAKE ON ANY AND ALL COMERS! IF YOU ARE ASKIN' WHICH ONE I WANT TO FACE THE MOST I THINK ALL MY HULKAMANIACS WOULD TELL YOU THE SAME THAT THEY WOULD WANNA' SEE ME TEACHIN' JESSE VENTURA A LESSON DUDE!

Hogan takes a momentary break, panting to get a few quick breaths before continuing to ride his train of thought and immense energy

Jesse Ventura Vs Jim Brunzell

Winner Enters Number One Contender Royale

In a really unique and competitive competition of styles, Ventura and Brunzell worked well off of one another. A true back and forth between the two, Ventura started off by using his stature and physique to bully and put down Brunzell, but Brunzell would come back with a barrage of blows and delivering a quick and sudden diving dropkick from the top rope. As it looks as if Brunzell is getting the come back and knocking Ventura down for the win, Ventura would get the upper hand, eventually rolling out of the way of one of Brunzells' diving attempts, rolling him up in a small package and resting his feet upon the ropes for the three count...

After The Match...

Two masked men emerge from the crowd, hopping over the barricades as Jesse Ventura starts to leave the ring, they rush the ring and begin an unprovoked assault on Jim Brunzell. Could these mysterious figures be the same ones who left Brunzell and Gagne laid out last week backstage?

Ventura makes no effort to go back, it's not his business after all. However it isn't long before someone else comes to the rescue...

Gagne rushes down the ramp at lightning speed with a chair in hand! He's coming to the rescue!...and the two masked figures make a run for it as he enters the ring! Rushing out as quickly as they came in, hopping back over the barricades and pushing through the crowd as Gagne kneels down to see to his tag partner and help him back to his feet...
