Tony Schiavone: Welcome everyone, to the debut episode of WCW Monday Nitro! We're Live, that's right, live, right here in the only place big enough to hold the debut edition of Monday Nitro, the Mall of America! I'm Tony Schiavone, and with me, Bobby...
Bobby Heenan: Shut up, Tony. Everyone knows who I am. What I am more concerned about, is why we have him with us.
Tony Schiavone: Joining me and The Brain on commentary, Chicago Bears legend, Steve 'Mongo' McMichael!
Steve McMichael: That's right baby, and Brain, you better get used to it, because this is where the action is!
Tony Schiavone: Tonight, we have Sting vs Ric Flair, and our main event, WCW World Champion Hulk Hogan vs The Shark of the Dungeon of Doom
Steve McMichael: Let's get to it, baby!
Flyin' Brian Pillman vs. Jushin 'Thunder' LigerIn a good start to WCW Monday Nitro featuring high flying action, Brian Pillman defeated Jushin Thunder Liger in 10:30 by pinfall with an Air Pillman.
Tony Schiavone: What a great opening match to the first WCW Monday Nitro, Brain
Bobby Heenan: Forget the opening match, Tony. I want to know what Hogan is going to do about Vader.
Tony Schiavone: That's right, fans. Vader is MIA, leaving Hogan, the Macho Man and Sting to fight the Dungeon of Doom a man short.
Steve McMichael: If there is anyone who can overcome a 1-man disadvantage, it's them 3, baby!
Tony Schiavone: Let's go down to the ring, where Mean Gene is in the ring!
Mean Gene: Well Tony, things are hot tonight in the Mall of America. Regarding a certain main event player, there may be some inside information on someone showing up up North. I have this and more on the WCW Hotline at 1-900-909-9900. $1.49 per minute and kids, get your parents permission before calling. Now, let's bring him out, the WCW World Champion, Hulk Hogan!
Hulk Hogan: Well you know somethin' Mean Gene! Everybody has been quick to write the Hulkamaniacs off. There are those that say we can't hold our own a man down. Well, I've gotta say that me, the Stinger and the Macho Man can take on everyone and anyone at anytime, brother!
Ric Flair w/Arn Anderson vs. StingIn a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Sting defeated Ric Flair in 5:34 by pinfall with a Diving Crossbody following botched interference by Arn Anderson.
After the match, Arn Anderson and Ric Flair can be seen having a heated discussion on their way to the back as Mean Gene heads into the ring.
Mean Gene: Sting, if I can get a word. The WCW champ sounds confident about the odds of being 3 vs 4 at Fall Brawl.
Sting: Ya know Gene, The Hulkster will take on the entire Dungeon of Doom single-handed, which is why he has Macho and The Stinger to back him up. We are down 1, but I think I have a solution for The Hulkster if he's willing to hear it after his match tonight.
Hulk Hogan vs. The Shark w/The TaskmasterIn a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Hulk Hogan defeated The Shark in 8:18 when The Shark was disqualified when The Taskmaster ran in and attacked Hulk Hogan.
As The Taskmaster and The Shark beatdown Hogan, The Zodiac and Meng come to join them before Randy Savage and Sting hit the ring to begin helping Hogan. A man down, Sting and Savage begin to get overrun as the crowd begins to shift their focus...
Tony Schiavone: What the hell?
Bobby Heenan: It's Lex Luger!
Steve McMichael: Oh yeah, baby!
Luger hits the ring and helps Hogan, Sting and Savage clear the ring before some arguing about what Lex is doing there begins between the members of The Hulkamaniacs.
Tony Schiavone (disgruntled): Fans, we'll be right back.
Mean Gene: I'd like....I'd like to get a word...
Randy Savage: The word? The word is WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?
Sting: Cool down, Macho. We've been a man down with Vader being MIA.
Hulk Hogan: Stinger, I admire your desire to even up the score, brother, but this isn't the guy.
Lex Luger: Hang on, Hulk. We've been down similar paths, and I'm here as a favor to the Stinger. After that, we can go our separate ways if you want.
Hulk Hogan: Listen here, Luger...
Randy Savage (pointing a finger right in Luger's face): LOOK AT THOSE EYES! I DON'T LIKE IT ONE BIT! Like a snake working it's way into a hen house and you know how to stop a snake? YOU CUT OFF IT'S HEAD OOOOOOH YEAHHHH!
Sting (trying to get between Savage and Luger): Hold on hold on...
Lex Luger: No Stinger, it's fine. If the Macho Man has doubts, maybe we can settle it in the ring next week.
Randy Savage: WHY WAIT when we can settle it right now!
Hulk Hogan: Alright Luger. You can prove yourself next week against the Macho Man, brother.
Mean Gene: Alright! Next week, Randy Savage vs....Lex Luger!
