In the world of professional wrestling I always grew up believing that Championship titles (and reigns) mattered.
What are your thoughts on the topic and why they do or don't matter? Let your opinion be known below.

I voted yes too. If it's to be presented as a legit sport, then they have to matter. Or you should say championships in Boxing don't matter either.

I think they should definitely matter, because even if the title is a "prop" if the prop doesn't matter then why should the viewer care about who is holding it?

Yes. Maybe it's just an old-school philosophy but the championship should be the focal point of everything.

Titles were more important in the days before the mid-90's. Back in the days where the belt wasn't switched every 5 minutes. Certain wrestlers needed that title. Ric Flair to me always needed to be the champ or at least be around it. Sting needed to be the hunter. Hogan needed the title. Some wrestlers just didn't need the title at all, The Undertaker comes to mind. Some feds do a good job with making their titles important. Ring of Honor has longer runs with their belt than most others.

Every major sporting code I know of has a title of some sort. Professional Wrestling falls under the category of "sports" as well as other genres. Therefore Championships do matter. |

I'd say they do matter.
Even if they were next to meaningless, they do the job of highlighting people and making them stand out from the pack.
