Of course, all of these matches take place under hardcore rules unless a specific stipulation or match type is noted. Be prepared, because the history of this title in 2001 is quite extensive.

For the WCW Full Throttle Title, I'm going to handle things a little differently with regards to the title history. First, with how the rules of this title work, the length of the reign will stop at the conclusion of the final edition of WCW Saturday Night of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series Season. In this case, that was the episode on November 17th. Of course, whoever holds the title at that points earns a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Title at any point between December 1st and June 30th (right before the start of NBC and TNT's portion of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series Season). Since this is a title that is defended weekly on Saturday Night, I will also list all of the title defenses that occurred during each reign, or in this case, the only reign, since Jericho was the only champion in this inaugural season. WCW Full Throttle Title
Chris Jericho WCW Saturday Night July 14th, 2001 126 Days This was a Three-Way Elimination Match also involving Rey Mysterio Jr. and Rob Van Dam.

* - This title defense took place in a regular wrestling venue, since NASCAR did not run that weekend due to the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks. ** - This was a rematch (with no time limit) set up by Dusty Rhodes after the October 6th bout between Chris Jericho and Sting ended in a time limit draw.

AJ Styles
Bryan Danielson
Jamie Noble
Little Guido
Psychosis
Taka Michinoku
Ultimo Dragon
The first thing I want to make note of is that the number of wrestlers in each block has gone up from six to seven this year. In terms of the A Block, and we've got an eclectic list of names with a host of different styles. You've got one of the top Cruiserweights in the company in AJ Styles, mixed in with some international mainstays like Psychosis and Ultimo Dragon. Bryan Danielson and Taka Michinoku are both making their debuts in the Best Of The Super Cruiserweights, and they each bring something unique to the table. Also in this block are returning names like Jamie Noble (from Rebels Rizing) and Little Guido (from The FBI). A really fun mix of names with A LOT of different styles. Should make for some fun matchups!

Apologies for the delay.
Christopher Daniels
Gedo
Juventud Guerrera
Jimmy Yang
Sho Funaki
Tiger Mask
Tony MamalukeThere's certainly a strong Japanese influence in the B Block. Gedo has been a regular presence in WCW for a number of years, while Sho Funaki has only been in WCW for less than a year. A new presence in the Cruiserweight Division is Tiger Mask IV, who's made the jump to WCW after appearing semi-regularly in WWF for the last couple of years. Interesting enough, this switch to WCW closely aligns with Tiger Mask becoming a regular in New Japan Pro Wrestling in OTL. He will certainly be looking to make an impression to kick off 2002. As for the rest of the block, you have representatives from The Filthy Animals, Rebels Rizing, and The FBI in the form of Juventud Guerrera, Jimmy Yang, and Tony Mamaluke respectively. Rounding out the block is the multi-time former WCW Cruiserweight Champion Christopher Daniels, who certainly has to be one of the favorites to win the entire tournament.

Billy Kidman
Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Hurricane Helms
Kaz Hayashi
Lance Storm
Rey Mysterio Jr.
Yoshihiro Tajiri
The C Block is filled with veterans of the Cruiserweight Division. In fact, five of the seven wrestlers in this block are former Cruiserweight Champions. Also in the block are Chavo Guerrero Jr. (another staple of the Cruiserweight Division, despite not yet holding the Cruiserweight Title) and Rebels Rizing member Kaz Hayashi. Whoever comes out of this block will certainly be a strong contender to win the tournament.
