I decided to use League Manager to run an F1 alternate history. I was inspired by dinokea's fantastic thread, go give it a read. No real teams or history will be used. 1962 SeasonNews: Inaugural "Formula 1" season launched.A new racing series called Formula 1 will be run across Europe this year. With just 6 races in its inaugural season, the 14 entered cars will have to prove a way of racing as well as their own capabilities. Let's take a look at the teams!General Motors:GM enters with a red-and-white livery and identical cars driven by American Dan Halley and Englishman Eduard Stokely. The American manufacturer prioritized raw engine power.Audi:The German constructor submits 2 ultra-reliable cars with great grip and aero, and are likely the favorite to with the constructors' championship. Germans Peter Keikel and Johann Daan drive the black, white, and red cars in 1962. Motorsport Vienna: The surprise Austrian entry fields two cars, and uniquely this year, has a clear A and B car. The blue and white car driven by Italian Giancarlo Vicci will receive the better parts and engineers, while Austrian-born Hans Morell will have to make do with the lesser car. Hancock Brothers: Less a proper team and more an association, the Hancock brothers of America travel together and work together on their cars, but aren't afraid to show each other up. The only difference is that Bart's car is purely sky blue, while Marty's has a black stripe. Freelancers: Independent car makers just angling to prove themselves for a contract, prize money, or simply to test themselves. Name | Nationality | Livery | Tim Donst
| English | Blue and Yellow | Sven Gustafson
| Swedish | Green and Blue | Daniel Masters
| Greek | Green | Bruno Da Silva
| Portuguese | Gray and Purple | Mac Duquese
| French | Black and White | Zoltan Fehrvar
| Hungarian | Red, White, and Green |
1962 Race Schedule: Week 1: Florence Week 2: Lyon Week 3: Cologne Week 4: Vienna Week 5: Zagreb Week 6: Budapest
Many major cities refused to take part, citing "Road damage" and "public health risks" Rumor has it the FOAC (Formula One Administrative Committee) is extremely grateful to those that accepted.

A very Central European schedule, may I say. Also, regarding two pilots: what's Daniel Masters' background? I'm going to assume he's the son of an American ambassador in Greece or something. The name Tim Donst was generated or is it inspired by the indy wrestler?
Let's go Bruno da Silva! "Entre as brumas da memória! Oh pátria, sente-se a voz dos teus egrégios avós!" (it's the Portuguese hymn)

Though every car that finished did so within a lap, the rainy weather caused collisions, and only one car from each manufacturer survived the day.

When I was making up names, Tim Donst popped into my head. Should have googled it I guess. Central European was intentional, with the fledgling league, there's not a lot of budget, and cars are hard to move. This route is somewhat logical, in my opinion. Masters is the son of a soldier who fought in Greece in WW2, then stayed because he loved the place.

I should have known the Portuguese driver was going to struggle. But hope doesn't die.

Lyon Grand Prix (Week 2: 1962) Weather: Rain

Lap 1: Bart Hancock can't even get his car to start. His brother must soldier on alone. Lap 3: Rain causes Marty to slide into Da Silva, ending the race for both of them. Lap 4: Debris from the last lap is improperly cleaned, leading to a burst tire for Stokely, who crashes into Morell. The race is brought to a halt for a proper cleaning, and restarted. Lap 7: Tim Donst has to go home disappointed, as his engine refuses to cooperate. Lap 15: After a good period of racing, Masters spins out on wet track and cannot continue. Lap 17: Fehrvar loses traction and sends his car into a wall. Thankfully, he's okay. Vicci shows what a Motorsport Vienna car at full capacity can do. Impressive stuff. 4 out of 6 independent drivers have scored at least 1 point, and Zoltan crashed out in second. He may very well have lots of offers on the table for next year, especially if Stokely can't get it together. 1/3 of the way through the season, and FOAC has already announced there will be races for next year! Looks like ticket sales are going well!

7 drivers finish, a record so far! More mechanical issues than crashes on the day. These cars are a tad unreliable. Only Keikel has finished every race, after 3, and it's got him in a solid lead. Poor Da Silva and Bart Hancock haven't finished one yet.

Yeah, Da Silva is a disgrace. He'd probably even crash an Audi if he ever drove one.

Vienna Grand Prix (Week 4: 1962) Weather: Sunny

Lap 1: Donst's car refuses to start, and he is unable to enter the race. Lap 3: Halley's engine billows smoke, and he's done for the day. Lap 4: Gustafson misjudges a turn and wrecks his front wing. Lap 5: M. Hancock clips a piece of Gustafson debris and wrecks. Lap 7: Hans Morell wrecks. Lap 9: Fehrvar's forced to quit after a steering issue. Lap 11: Master's engine stalls out and won't come back. Lap 16: Daan experiences a pit lane fire while refueling. Lap 19: Heartbreaking for B. Hancock, he was so close to securing his first points, but instead he gets to watch the rest of the race. Only 5 drivers finish a brutal race in Vienna. A great day for Da Silva, as he claims his first finish and 2 points. Keikel podiumed in every race and now gets a big win and a bigger lead with 2 races to go. FOAC announced 2 more teams joining the league next year, as well as the number of cars increasing to 16. One of those teams will be called Carreras Galas (Gallic Racing) which apparently will focus on French and Spanish driver. Mac Duquese has signed a one-year contract with them. Peter Keikel has signed an extension with Audi through 1964, if F1 lasts that long.

Oh my! Da Silva is a machine! With two races left, the 2nd place overall is a possibility. Keikel is a beast, tho.

Zagreb Grand Prix (Week 5: 1962) Weather: Sunny

| P. Keikel | Audi | - | - | DNF
| T. Donst | - | - | - | DNF
| S. Gustafson | - | - | - | DNF | D. Halley | GM | - | - |
Lap 2: Halley catches on fire almost immediately. Lap 8: Gustafson's wing that was reconstructed after last race falls apart, he's done. Lap 9: Donst's air intake catches some of Gustafson's debris and goes down hard. Lap 12: Disaster for Audi! League leader Peter Keikel spins out into a barrier and bends his axle. Lap 15: GM is out, as Stokely crashes after badly misjudging a turn. Lap 20: Da Silva wrecks from last place on the final lap. That's rough. Yugoslavia proves a welcoming host, as a record 8 cars finish the race on the Zagreb streets. Motorsport Vienna's "B Car" proves to have an A+ driver, and Morell finishes 4 positions ahead of Vicci. If Morell stays with Vienna, he surely deserves an equal car at the very least. Bart Hancock reaches the podium on his first finish all year. Somewhat impressive. FOAC are quick to announce that Zagreb will be a host site for a race again next year, as will Florence.
