It's been a month since Jim Perry announced his planned change for his wrestling promotion, DEFY, and we are now nearing the very first event since that announcement.
The event, 'The Defyant Ones', will be held in front of 279 excited fans in Jazzbones, Tacoma. The event will be broadcasted on IndependentWrestling.tv.
FIGHT #1 (PRE-SHOW)
CARLOS ROMO vs KEVIN COOK
In the pre-show fight, we have one of DEFY's newest acquisitions, Carlos Romo, fighting Kevin Cook. Romo displayed some glimpses of his abilities in the ring and looked better than Cook, but experience played its part and he lost after 10:30 minutes. Not a bad start to Carlos Romo's DEFY career! We'll definitely see more of him in the future.
FIGHT #2 | DEFY TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
4 MINUTES OF HEAT (EDDIE PEARL, RICKY GIBSON) vs LA REBELLION AMARILLA (MECHAWOLF, BESTIA 666)
One of the better fights of this event took part in the very beginning, where Ricky Gibson and Eddie Pearl were challenged by Bestia 666 and Mechawolf for their tag team title. La Rebellion Amarilla was the better side, but Eddie Pearl managed to pull a frog jump on Bestia 666, pin him, and defend the tag team title despite being the underdogs.
4 Minutes of Heat retain their tag team title for at least another month.
FIGHT #3
CODY CHHUN vs SONICO
In a poor fight that lacked major highlights, Cody Chhun beat Sonico after 5:07 minutes and spared the crowd from seeing more of the boring clash DEFY featured.
FIGHT #4
ARTEMIS SPENCER vs JUDAS ICARUS
In fight number four, Artemis Spencer and Judas Icarus entered the ring, encouraged by cheers from the crowd, who were keen to see a better fight than the previous one. Both wrestlers showed a relatively equal performance and provided ten entertaining minutes to the DEFY fans. These were over after Artemis Spencer pulled a Suburban Neckwringer on Judas Icarus and pinned him for the win after 10:03 minutes.
ANGLE #1
Ace Austin and Nick Gage come out to the ring with microphones and introduce themselves to the crowd as two of the newest DEFY signings. With Austin immediately challenging reigning champ Randy Myers, the bout has potential to be the match of the night. Austin—who is 24-year-old Austin Highley—already had one run with the X Division gold of IMPACT Wrestling, and this marks a huge chance to show his value to DEFY. Gage, however, focused on his match versus Lance Archer, and his deathmatch legacy, much to the enjoyment of the fans.
FIGHT #5
SAMI CALLIHAN vs JEFF COBB
This fight was the best of the night, so far. Both Callihan and Cobb were great and provided the crowd with great wrestling, which, in return - Got great heat. The match went on for twelve and a half minutes, in which both wrestlers looked equally good, dealing a roughly equal amount of hits to one another. Callihan defeated Cobb after 12:33 by pinfall.
FIGHT #6 | CAGE MATCH
FATU vs JOSH ALEXANDER
Yet again, another highlight to tonight's reel! Fatu fights Josh Alexander in a cage match. Both workers performed well, with Fatu being slightly better with his in-ring performance. However, Alexander is the more talented wrestler of the two and he was able to easily dominate Fatu and win by pinfall after 11:49 minutes.
ANGLE #2
Much to the crowd's surprise, someone barges into the ring with a microphone! It's Eric Bischoff, former WCW CEO, and pretty much a legend of the wrestling world. He announces the main event - Ace Austin is going to get his title shot, TONIGHT, in the main event! There's just one catch - Black Taurus will wait there, too, in a triple threat match between Randy Myers, Ace Austin, and himself!
FIGHT #7
NICK GAGE vs LANCE ARCHER
The best match of the night. A match between two very experienced indie wrestlers, both having over twenty years of experience in the ring. The match was full of bouts, stunts, and generally featured a great performance from both sides, living to their reputation as indie superstars. It was Archer who had the upper hand after winning by pinfall in 12:49 minutes. What a match!
FIGHT #8 | MAIN EVENT - DEFY WORLD TITLE MATCH
RANDY MYERS (C) vs ACE AUSTIN vs BLACK TAURUS
DEFY's long-reigning champion, Randy Myers, meets the Black Taurus and Ace Austin, two new DEFY acquisitions, in a triple threat match. Myers looked lost in-ring and didn't really pose a threat to Austin and the Black Taurus. Eventually, Ace Austin managed to pin Myers and win the match after 15:01 minutes. Ace Austin is the NEW DEFY World champion!
Myers leaves the ring, grabs a mic, and promises Austin that "This won't be the last time we fight for this belt!". Oh god, have we got a new feud in our hands?
