WWF 1987: The Price of Hulkamania

Pre-Match Promo: "Ravishing" Rick Rude and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan kick off this week's episode of Monday Night Raw with Rude cutting a quick promo telling all of the inner-city sweat hogs to keep the noise down while he takes his robe off to show the ladies his Simply Ravishing body.

Match 1: "Ravishing" Rick Rude def. Shane Douglas in 7:06 when Rude pinned Douglas with a Rude Awakening.

Pre-Match Promo: We see a pre-match promo featuring the debuting Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin, and Terry Gordy). Hayes says that Freebird Fantasia is about to strike the World Wrestling Federation.

Match 2: The Fabulous Freebirds def. Hillbilly Jim and The Killer Bees in 10:47 when Gordy pinned Hillbilly Jim with the Asiatic Spike.

Pre-Match Promo: We get a promo from Tom Zenk and his new manager Slick. Zenk says Rick Martel was selfish and didn't consult him on picking a new manager. He says Lou Albano is a has-been and wasn't worthy of managing a rising star like the Z-Man. Zenk claims he will show the world why he was the star of the Can-Am Connection.

Match 3: Tom Zenk & "The Natural" Butch Reed def. "The Birdman" Koko B. Ware and Pedro Morales in 12:08 when Zenk pinned Morales with a Flying Dropkick.

Pre-Match Promo: Brutus Beefcake cuts a pre-match promo on Adrian Street saying Street should not have gotten involved with Adrian Adonis. However, if he wants to buddy up with Adonis, then maybe they should have matching haircuts.

Match 4: Brutus Beefcake def. "Exotic" Adrian Street in 10:25 when Street was DQed after interference from Adrian Adonis. Both Street and Adonis double team Beefcake leaving him down and out.

Pre-Match Promo: Sgt. Slaughter cut a promo hyping up his upcoming match against The Iron Sheik. He says he returned at Wrestlemania III, because he saw a fellow American patriot in need of assistance. He saw his old rival, The Iron Sheik, up to his old ways trying to desecrate America and he could not stand for it.

Match 5: Sgt. Slaughter def. The Iron Sheik in 10:55 when Sheik submitted to Slaughter's Cobra Clutch.

The Brother Love Show:

*Bobby Heenan and Paul Orndorff come to the stage and they both hug Brother Love*

Heenan: It is an HONOR, Brother Love, to share this stage with a man with class and high moral fiber!

Brother Love: Well thank you, Brother Brain! Now let me ask you how this WONDERFUL plan came together with you and Brother Wonderful Paul Orndorff!

Heenan: It would be my please, Brother Love! Let's go back to last year when Mr. Wonderful turned his back on Hulk Hogan. Mr. Wonderful chased Hogan all over the world, trying to take the WWF Championship away from Hogan. Orndorff had the title won on numerous occasions if it weren't for bad officiating getting in the way.

WWF officials would not give any more title shots to Mr. Wonderful, so I had to come up with another plan to get the title off of Hogan. That's where Andre The Giant came in. I had gotten him suspended from the WWF that summer and only I could life the suspension. That's when I got in Andre's ear and turned him against his best friend, Hulk Hogan, by saying Hogan had been ducking him all of these years. I could lift his suspension and guide him to fulfilling his destiny to becoming WWF Champion.

The dummy bought it hook, line, and sinker. He turned his back on his best friend and all of the humanoids around the world that looked up to him! However, Hulk Hogan threw me a curve ball and packed his bags and left the WWF to pursue "politics". Instead of handing the WWF Title over to Andre, WWF officials decided to name a new opponent for Wrestlemania III for the vacant WWF Championship.

That's when the opportunity was open for Mr. Wonderful to come in the backdoor to get himself another shot at the title. I pleaded my case to WWF officials that Orndorff deserved to be in the match considering how close he previously was to winning the WWF Title and the officials AGREED with me! At that moment, the plan was in motion. Once the WWF officials put Mr. Wonderful in the match, I was able to add a clause to the contract that the title can be won via a DQ victory.

Andre The Dummy can't read and never saw the clause in the contract. While pinning Andre The Giant would have been nice, the main goal was for Mr. Wonderful to become the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion and we accomplished that goal at Wrestlemania III!

Then, last week on the debut episode of Monday Night Raw, we sprung the trap on the big dummy. He thought I was about to give him the WWF Title, but all he got was a trip to the hospital thanks to the NEW WWF World Heavyweight Champion Mr. Wonderful! HA HA HA HA!

Orndorff: That's right, Bobby. This was over a year in the making, but I'm FINALLY the WWF Champion! And I'll be damned if anyone is going to take this belt from me that easily! I don't care who you are! Jake Roberts, Ricky Steamboat, Randy Savage, Jim Duggan, you bring them to me and I'll knock them down!

Heenan: LOVE LIVE MR. WONDERFUL! LONG LIVE MR. WONDERFUL! LONG LIVE MR. WONDERFUL!

*Mr. Wonderful does the Hulk Hogan ear cup taunt to taunt the crowd as the segment fades out*

Match 6: "Dr. Death" Steve Williams def. King Kong Bundy in 12:27 when Williams pinned Bundy with the Oklahoma Stampede in his debut match.

Match 7: Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat & Billy Jack Haynes def. "Macho Man" Randy Savage & Hercules in 13:52 when Steamboat pinned Hercules with a Flying Crossbody.

Match 1: Davey Boy Smith & "The Birdman" Koko B Ware def. "The Natural" Butch Reed & Fatu in 9:40 when Smith pinned Fatu with a Running Powerslam. Koko replaced an injured Dynamite Kid and Reed replaced an injured Samu.

Pre-Match Promo: Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake cuts a promo on Adorably Exotic hyping up his feud with them. He tells Street that he's going to end up a cueball just like Adonis.

Match 2: Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake def. Brian Adams when Adams passed out to Beefcake's Sleeperhold in 7:34.

Match 3: Demolition def. Brad Armstrong & Corporal Kirchner in 7:47 when Smash pinned Armstrong with a Demolition Decapitation.

Match 4: Tom Zenk def. "Leapin'" Lanny Poffo in 8:09 when Zenk pinned Poffo with a Missile Dropkick.

Post-Match: After the match, Rick Martel hits the ring and takes out Tom Zenk in a measure of revenge.

Match 5: "Dr. Death" Steve Williams def. Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. in 11:38 when Williams pinned Orton with a Doctor Bomb.

Post-Match: After the match, The Magnificent Muraco enters the ring and brawls with Dr. Death.

Match 6: Hercules & "King" Harley Race def. The Junkyard Dog & Billy Jack Haynes in 11:11 when Hercules pinned JYD with a Backbreaker Rack.

The Brother Love Show: Brother Love's guest is Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Roberts hypes up his feud with Honky Tonk Man and says that if Honky still wants to play with the Snake, then Honky is going to get bit again.

Pre-Match Promo: "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, "Ravishing" Rick Rude, and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan cut a promo on their upcoming tag team match.

Match 7: "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff & "Ravishing" Rick Rude def. The Young Stallions in 9:34 when Orndorff pinned Powers with a Piledriver.

Pre-Match Promo: "Macho Man" Randy Savage cuts a promo on Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat claiming he will regain his Intercontinental Title soon, but watch what he does to a former IC Champion in Tito Santana.

Match 8: "Macho Man" Randy Savage def. Tito Santana in 13:44 when Savage pinned Santana with a Flying Elbowdrop.

Match 1: King Kong Bundy & Danny Spivey def. Hillbilly Jim & Outback Jack in 8:19 when Spivey pinned Jack with a Powerbomb.

Match 2: The Rougeau Brothers def. Al Perez & Bob Holly in 8:28 when Jacques pinned Holly with La Bombe de Rougeau.

Pre-Match Promo: Sgt. Slaughter and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan cut a promo on Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik saying that surprises don't bother them as you always must expect the unexpected from the enemy when you're at war.

Match 3: Sgt. Slaughter def. Al Snow in 6:53 when Snow submitted to Slaughter's Cobra Clutch.

Pre-Tape Promo: Davey Boy Smith cuts a pre-recorded interview hyping up his WWF World Heavyweight Title match against Paul Orndorff tonight on Saturday Night's Main Event. He says this is the biggest match of his career and he can not wait to take a bite out of Mr. Wonderful.

Match 4: The Magnificent Muraco def. Ron Simmons in 7:31 when Muraco pinned Simmons with a Tombstone Piledriver.

Match 5: Tito Santana def. Jimmy Jack Funk in 7:32 when Santana pinned Funk with the Flying Forearm.

Intro video package: We see the intro to Saturday Night's Main Event featuring promos from "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Tom Zenk w/ Slick, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, & "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan.

Match 1: For the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Championship The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart def. The Killer Bees in 12:22 to retain the titles when Hart pinned Blair with the Hart Attack.

Match 2: Rick Martel def. Tom Zenk w/ Slick in 11:33 when Zenk got himself intentionally counted out of the ring.

Match 3: Sgt. Slaughter & "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan def. The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff w/ Slick in 12:15 when Sheik and Volkoff got DQed when Nikita & Ivan Koloff make their WWF debuts and attack Duggan and Slaughter. There is a 4-on-2 beatdown that ends with both of them getting the flags of Iran and Russia draped over their prone bodies.

Match 4: "Dr. Death" Steve Williams def. The Magnificent Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji in 12:46 when Williams pinned Muraco with a Backdrop Driver.

Match 5: For the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan def. Davey Boy Smith in 12:46 when Orndorff pinned Smith with the Piledriver.

Match 6: For the World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Championship Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat drew with Randy "Macho Man" Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth in 14:44 when both men could not answer the referee's 10 count.

Match 1: The British Bulldogs def. Doug Furnas & Phil Lafon in 12:03 when Dynamite Kid pinned Lafon with a Diving Headbutt.

Pre-Match Interview: Nikita & Ivan Koloff cut a promo on "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan & Sgt. Slaughter stating that they are here in the WWF to rid the company of the American Patriots and prove that Mother Russia is superior to the USA.

Match 2: The Koloffs def. The Armstrongs in 7:27 when Nikita pinned Scott with a Russian Sickle.

Pre-Match Promo: We get a promo with James J. Dillon and his newest charge, "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel. Landel says that he is the top wrestler in the world and that the real Nature Boy is going to the top in the WWF.

Match 3: "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel w/ James J. Dillon def. S.D. Jones in 7:06 when Landel made Jones submit to the Figure Four.

Match 4: "Dr. Death" Steve Williams def. "Outlaw" Ron Bass in 10:44 when Williams pinned Bass with an Oklahoma Stampede.

Pre-Match Promo: The Fabulous Freebirds cut a promo stating that they are the greatest trio of men in the pro wrestling.

Match 5: The Fabulous Freebirds def. Brad Armstrong, Corporal Kirchner, & The Crusher in 7:46 when Garvin pinned Crusher with a Brainbuster.

Pre-Match Promo: We get a promo from WWF Champion "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. They say that Orndorff is the best WWF Champion of all time and that he will take on all comers. Heenan says that in a few moments, Orndorff is going to send Chavo Guerrero back to Tijuana selling dry tamales from the back of a rusty pickup truck.

Match 6: WWF World Champion "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan def. Chavo Guerrero in 9:38 when Orndorff pinned Guerrero with a Piledriver.

Match 7: Greg "The Hammer" Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart def. Rick Martel in 12:51 when Valentine pinned Martel after a distraction from Tom Zenk.

Match 8: WWF Intercontinental Title Match Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat (c) def. Nikolai Volkoff w/ Slick in 11:56 when Steamboat pinned Volkoff with the Flying Crossbody.

Post Match: The Iron Sheik jumps Steamboat after the match and soon after, Volkoff joins in on the beat down. When things look grim for Steamboat, "Macho Man" Randy Savage comes out with a steel chair. Sheik and Volkoff think he's here to join in on the beat down of Steamboat, but then clocks Sheik and Volkoff with the chair and runs them off. Steamboat looks ready to fight, but Savage leaves the ring instead of fighting Steamboat. Raw ends with both men staring each other down from a distance.
