The show opened with a decent match that succeeded in heating
the crowd up, getting the night in Arkansas off to a strong start. 

While Iceman King Parsons showed no sign of lingering

injury during his return appearance on Wednesday Night’s edition of Mid-South
Wrestling TV, the same couldn’t be said during this bout. As soon as Iceman
removed his entrance jacket, the bandaged up rib cage was clear to see. The
body of Iceman King Parsons was clearly still suffering thanks to the attack
from Kamala just over a fortnight earlier. As the weakened area of the fan
favourite was predictably targeted by the Devastation Inc. duo of Buddy Landel
and Kamala in the opening minutes of the contest, even the most dedicated of the
Iceman’s fans had to be asking themselves, had he returned to competition too
early?

Thankfully for both the Iceman and his very vocal fans in

attendance, he managed to tough it out and stay in the fight, despite finding
himself mostly fighting on the defensive. By the time Iceman tagged out to the
Mid-South Television Champion Terry Taylor, it was much needed. 

Deep into the match, Terry Taylor and Buddy Landel

battled it out as the legal participants. While the momentum was 50/50 during
most of the exchanges between the two rivals, an argument could be made for the
Champion having the slight edge. 

Sadly this edge wouldn’t last for Terry Taylor, thanks

largely to the unpredictably of Kamala being a distraction. Despite not being
the legal man, Kamala, who was seemingly confused to the rules of tag team
wrestling, kept on trying to enter the match. At times, even Kamala’s own
partner Buddy Landel seemed to be cautious of his actions, but luckily for him,
the Ugandan Giant was mostly a hindrance to Terry Taylor. This was no doubt due
to the instructions being shouted to Kamala by his handler Friday throughout the
match being mostly successful in keeping him on track and on target.

It reached a point where Iceman King Parsons had seen

enough of Kamala’s constant interference. Fuelled by anger, Iceman left his
corner and stormed across the ring, getting into a wild brawl with Kamala that
spilled outside of the ring and towards the ringside fans. Some fans were wise
to flee from their seats quickly at the sight of the wild fight approaching
them, but one unfortunate fan was seen falling off his seat, spilling his beer
in the process. As arena security and Kamala’s handler Friday followed, trying
desperately to get some order, both Iceman King Parsons and Kamala brawled to
the backstage area, out of sight of the fans. 

Back in the ring, Terry Taylor and Buddy Landel continued
to fight on, with the slight edge in momentum looking to be in the favour of
Taylor. Things took a turn when Skandor Akbar got up onto the ring apron, and
made an overly animated scene, as he appeared to struggle in getting some type
of illegal object or substance ready in his hands. The referee couldn’t help
but notice Akbar’s less than subtle attempt to help his client, a referee from a
mile out would’ve noticed.

As the referee turned his attention from the action to

warn Skandor Akbar to halt whatever he was planning or risk getting his team
disqualified, the mastermind of Devastation Inc. began to smile as he rose up
his open and clearly EMPTY hands. Akbar’s overly animated blundering had been
intentional.

The referee turned around to see Buddy Landel landing a running
elbow drop into the chest of the grounded Terry Taylor, but what the ref hadn’t
seen was the blatant low blow from Landel that had put Taylor down on the
canvas seconds beforehand. The booing of the fans could do nothing to change
the outcome ahead three seconds later. “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel and “The
Ugandan Giant” Kamala were victorious via Buddy Landel pinning Terry Taylor.
The match time was 12 minutes, 28 seconds. 

“Soon enough, THAT’LL be back where it belongs, around MY
WAIST!” shouted out the victorious Buddy Landel, as he pointed to the Mid-South
Television Championship that sat at a ringside table. “Keep it warm for me just
a little while longer Taylor! HA HA!” 

Match Rating: D+ (This bout got the show off to a strong
start, getting the crowd hotter)

Finding themselves placed in a match on a high profile
card, this bout served up a special opportunity for one of these two
preliminary boys to grab a rare victory.

In a bout with little crowd heat and some wrestling on
display that was sub-par at best, Shawn Michaels showed a little more shine on
this given night than Jack Victory. Despite Victory’s best efforts, he seemed
to be half a step behind the Jose Lothario protege throughout the majority of
the contest.

The finish of the bout came after Shawn Michaels rolled

under an attempted side elbow strike from Jack Victory. As Victory turned
around and ducked down in an attempt to pick Michaels up from the canvas, he
found himself caught flush in the face with a jumping uppercut strike from a
waiting Michaels. Wasting no time, Michaels then rolled the shaky legged Jack
Victory up in what would be the match winning pinning cradle. The match time
was 6 minutes 35 seconds. 

Following the bout, the victorious Shawn Michaels showed

good sportsmanship, offering a handshake to Jack Victory. This offer was
shrugged off by Victory, who aggressively kicked the bottom ring rope in
frustration with his own performance, before rolling out of the ring and
storming towards the backstage area.

Match Rating: D- 

These former friends turned heated rivals are no
strangers to facing one another, especially in recent months, with their feud
being one of the biggest in the Texas based WCCW in recent times. Due to the
familiarity Adams and Von Erich have with one another, they treated the fans of
Mid-South Wrestling to a very good wrestling match.

The bad attitude that Chris Adams has recently become

known for in Texas was on full display from the outset, with the Englishman
making it clear to the ringside fans that he was less than pleased with their
highly vocal support of Kevin Von Erich. While the bad attitude of Adams
couldn’t be denied, neither could his wrestling skills. Whether the fans cared
to admit it or not, Adams held his own with Kevin Von Erich in the early
minutes of the contest, matching the popular Texans agility, and at times,
outclassing him on the mat in the technical wrestling department. 

Things began to turn in Von Erich’s favour when

frustration began to get the better of Chris Adams. The arrogant Englishman got
visibly rattled with the combination of the continued cheers for Kevin Von
Erich, along with his inability to pin or submit him, despite many attempts. 

Kevin Von Erich began to turn the tables on Chris Adams,

beating him at his own game with ground based submission technique. Adams came
close to tapping out at one point due to an aggressively applied knee bar from
Von Erich. After giving submission some serious contemplation, Adams managed to
claw his way to the bottom rope, forcing the referee ask Kevin Von Erich to
break the hold.

Realising he’d lost the advantage with the ground game,

Chris Adams battled back up to his feet. Luckily for Kevin Von Erich, he was
ready for whatever Adams could throw at him from the stand up position also.
After some back and forth counters, Kevin Von Erich took full control when he
countered a side suplex attempt from Adams by rolling back and landing on his
feet. Before Adams could get to grips with what was going on, he was picked up
and dropped to the canvas with a bodyslam by Von Erich.

It wasn’t long after this that Kevin Von Erich looked for

victory by attempting to apply the Von Erich Claw. Thankfully for Chris Adams,
he succeeded in scouting and countering this hold, taking the right hand of
Kevin Von Erich and snapping his fingers! Some ringside fans were heard to gasp
upon hearing the sickening sound of the audible crack this attack produced!

Showing heart by fighting through the pain the attack to

the fingers had caused him; Kevin Von Erich was quick to stop Chris Adams from
attempting more attacks to his right hand, firing off some left arm elbows and
a dropkick to keep him at bay. 

Impressively, Kevin Von Erich managed to regain control

of the match. Von Erich almost scored the pinfall victory twice, first via a leapfrog
counter into a sunset flip, followed by the next near fall that came when Kevin
Von Erich used his legs on the ropes to use the momentum of Chris Adams against
him while he had a sleeper hold applied. Von Erich flipped over and held onto
Chris Adams as both men crashed to the canvas. This came as close to match
ending as possible, but the ref’s hand was just short of coming down for the
final count of three.

In the closing moments, Kevin Von Erich countered a

Superkick attempt by Chris Adams, successfully having the trademark move of his
rival scouted. What Kevin wasn’t prepared for was Chris Adams firing off a 2^nd
Superkick attempt immediately after, but this time the kick targeted and HIT
his previously damaged right hand. 

As Kevin Von Erich grimaced in pain and clutched at his
right hand, he was rolled up for a pinfall attempt by Adams. Amazingly, Kevin
Von Erich managed to kick out just before three. As Kevin Von Erich then
battled back up to his feet, Chris Adams went back to a technique that pre-dated his time in wrestling, taking Kevin Von Erich back down to the canvas via
a well-executed Judo Toss.

Chris Adams then viciously drove his elbow into the
right hand of Kevin Von Erich, before attempting another pinfall. The referee
made the count, not seeing that Chris Adams had placed his feet on the bottom rope
for extra leverage in the final second. The 4,500 fans in attendance voiced
their displeasure when “Gentleman” Chris Adams had his hand raised in victory.
The match time was 14 minutes 57 seconds.  This was not a popular result, to say the very least, but it was a
result that Chris Adams revelled in, clearly taking delight in observing the disappointed
faces amongst the crowd that he’d created.

Clearly wanting to gloat, Chris Adams took a microphone
from ringside

Chris Adams: Kevin, out in Texas you and your family may
have the people eating out of the palms of your hands, well… you just found out
the hard way that this isn’t Texas! After what I just did, that right hand of
yours won’t be crushing grapes for a while, never mind skulls. So I’ll make a
suggestion to you Kevin, go back to Texas….you hear me? GO BACK to Texas and
HIDE behind your brothers, HIDE behind your daddy….because this right here is
Mid-South Wrestling, and I’ve got some BIG plans for this area in 1985.

Do all of you people hear me out there? I said I’ve got

some BIG PLANS for this area in 1985, so before I come back, and I’ll be coming
back REAL SOON.. I suggest you people learn some basic manners, because next
time I’m here I’ll be expecting the appreciation an athlete of my calibre is
deserving of. 

Hearing the booing raise, along with the sight of garbage

being pelted toward the ring in his direction, Chris Adams threw down the
microphone, deciding to make a hasty exit. 

A short while later, a disappointed looking Kevin Von

Erich rose to his feet, clutching at his right hand.  Trying to mask the pain he was clearly in,
Kevin Von Erich put on a brave face as he asked the ring announcer to raise a
microphone to his mouth. 

Kevin Von Erich: You know guys; it’s a fact of life that
you cannot win them all. I lost tonight and there’s nothing I can do to change
that, I don’t have the power. But I’ll tell you something I do have the power
to do; I have the power to decide not to let this setback derail me. I have the
power to ensure I come back and put this situation with Chris Adams right. I
promise you fans this, if Chris Adams is coming back here to Mid-South
Wrestling, so am I…this isn’t over!

Match Rating: C- (This match got the crowd hotter)

With one of the most brutal Mid-South Wrestling matches
in recent memory concluded, the victorious Ted Dibiase asked for his manager
Skandor Akbar to hand him a microphone…

Ted Dibiase: Mid-South Wrestling management, more
specifically, the head honcho himself…”Cowboy” Bill Watts,  look what you drove me to! The blood of Jim
Duggan may be on my hands, but it’ll long remain on your conscience. 

That was some ugly, dirty business tonight, but it’s
alright….because I was willing to meet Jim Duggan on his low down level for one
nights work. I did it for the sake of all of the displays of class that will
now follow. Whether you people understand it or not, you need a man like me and
what I represent. 

Now don’t get me wrong,  I know full well I’ll have my work cut out for
me in re-educating all of you to enjoy the finer things in life, rather than
looking up to a rags to more rags nothing happening sewer rat like Jim Duggan,
but as tonight’s victory has already showed, I THRIVE when challenged!

It’s a new era here in Mid-South Wrestling now, one where
TRUE CLASS will come to be appreciated! The re-education shall begin THIS
COMING WEEK on Television, when I let you all feast your eyes on class with my
victory celebration. Just as I promised, I’ll be dressed to the nines in my
custom made tuxedo with tails. One look at me and how sharp I'll look, and you’ll
soon be forgetting about the likes of Jim Duggan! I think you ……

Before Ted Dibiase could continue, he was grabbed from
behind by “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. While still looking worse for wear, Duggan
still had the instinct to fight, probably not even realising that the match was
over. Sadly for Duggan, his efforts were easily stopped in their tracks, when
Ted Dibiase turned around and kicked him in the head. Laughing at the sight of
the laid out Jim Duggan down at his feet, Ted Dibiase continued to talk…

Ted Dibiase: Get a load of this filthy rat! You just
don’t know when to quit do you Duggan?.. I say General, how about we wrap this
job up 100% and put this filth down for good? Hold
him down!

The sinister Devastation Inc. mastermind Skandor Akbar
wasted no time in carrying out Dibiase’s request, allowing the victorious Ted
Dibiase to add further insult to injury as he began to drive knee and elbow
strikes upon the bloodied and defenceless body of “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. No help
looked to be available for Duggan, as Iceman King Parsons, Terry Taylor and Brad
Armstrong were distracted by their respective brawls with Kamala, Buddy Landel
and Steve Williams, which had all moved away from ringside and out of the sight of the fans.

The act of post-match violence came to a standstill when
Ted Dibiase and Skandor Akbar were distracted by the presence of fellow
Devastation Inc. member “Sheik” Hercules Hernandez, who had appeared in the
ring with a steel chair in hand. With a stoic expression, it appeared that
Hercules Hernandez was pointing the chair in the direction of Ted Dibiase and
Skandor Akbar. The detectable look of confusion and perhaps concern on the face
of Skandor Akbar was only temporary; it was replaced with an ear to ear smile
when he watched as “Sheik” Hercules Hernandez handed the steel chair over to Ted Dibiase. 

Fans began to throw trash into the ring in anger as
“Sheik” Hercules Hernandez joined Skandor Akbar in holding down the arms and
legs of “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan after rolling him onto his stomach. With no hope
of defending himself, Jim Duggan was at the mercy of Ted Dibiase, who held the
steel chair up high over his back.

But then….”Hacksaw” Butch Reed ran out to ringside,
wielding a baseball bat. Butch Reed stormed into the ring and swung the
baseball bat around, causing Ted Dibiase and “Sheik” Hercules Hernandez to roll
out of the ring quicker than moths to a night light. Sadly for Skandor Akbar,
but much to the delight of the ringside fans, he wasn’t as fast on his feet.
The fans erupted into cheers when Skandor Akbar took a hard shot across his
back from Butch Reed’s baseball bat. Butch Reed swung his bat a 2^nd
time, but thankfully for Skandor, both Ted Dibiase and Hercules Hernandez
managed to pull him out of the ring to safety.

The show closed with one Hacksaw showing concern for
another, as Butch Reed called for a ringside doctor to check on Jim Duggan, who
was barely conscious at this point. This was the first glimpse in 1985 that
Mid-South Wrestling fans received of the union that had begun in 1984 being
continued into the New Year. At one time, the rivalry between Duggan and Reed was so heated that
any kind of alliance between the two would have been an unthinkable prospect.
Despite not getting the match outcome they would’ve hoped for, at least the
Mid-South Wrestling fans can be assured that Butch Reed is still willing to
work alongside Jim Duggan in the war against Devastation Inc. If tonight served
as any indication to what the future holds, the union of the Hacksaws is one
that will be heavily tested by Devastation Inc. in the weeks and months to
come!

The show opened with video highlights documenting the
controversial ending of the "LIGHTS OUT" match from the January Supercard between
Ted Dibiase and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. The video showed the depths that Ted Dibiase
went to in order to secure victory, biting the forehead of Duggan. Footage was
also shown of the post-match beat down perpetrated on Jim Duggan by Ted Dibiase
and his Devastation Inc. associates Skandor Akbar and “Sheik” Hercules
Hernandez, an attack that would’ve undoubtedly been far worse if not for the
intervention of “Hacksaw” Butch Reed, who stormed out to ringside with a
baseball bat in hand. With the video concluded, the show cut to live footage,
where we were greeted by the commentary team of Jim Ross and Joel Watts…

Jim Ross: Hi folks, Jim Ross here alongside Joel Watts. To
all of our viewers, you’ve picked a great week to join us here on Mid-South
Wrestling TV. You saw the footage at the top of broadcast highlighting the
controversial ending to last Friday’s "LIGHTS OUT" match between “Hacksaw” Jim
Duggan and Ted Dibiase, a barn burner of a fight that took place out in Arkansas
at our big January Supercard. As some of you folks are aware, Ted Dibiase
promised a big celebration of that victory with a demonstration of CLASS, right
here today on television. We’ve been informed that Ted Dibiase has every
intention of fulfilling that promise, so stay tuned for that. 

Joel Watts: We know that Ted Dibiase is going to be
getting more than his fair share of airtime here on the broadcast today, so
let’s use this time right now to talk about someone else, let’s discuss
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. Since Friday, we’ve been flooded with correspondence from
fans with concern for Duggan’s welfare. Rumours of a potentially severe injury
have been doing the rounds. Well, I want to tell the fans this, my father
“Cowboy” Bill Watts will be here today on television, and amongst other things,
he’ll have the FACTS concerning the well being and future plans of “Hacksaw” Jim
Duggan, so be sure to stick around for that!

Jim Ross: I’ll be interested in hearing what your father
has to say Joel. On top of that and other fallout from the January Supercard,
you can anticipate some fine wrestling action today, as only Mid-South
Wrestling can give you! We’ll be seeing two members of Devastation Inc. in tag
team action, as “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel teams up with the NEW Mid-South North
American Champion, Steve “Dr. Death” Williams. We’ll also get a look at Jake “The
Snake” Roberts in action today. We’ll also be seeing the popular Iceman King Parsons
in action…in fact, he’s coming up right now, let’s head to ringside!

Dale Veasey vs. Iceman King Parsons

While Iceman King Parsons was still sporting a bandaged
up rib cage, he had little difficulty fighting off the challenge posed by Dale
Veasey in this encounter.  The Iceman was
fired up, feeding off the cheers of the crowd by mixing some dance moves in
between his highly effective wrestling offence. The Iceman put Dale Veasey away
in style, clapping his hands and spinning on the spot, before delivering a body
shaking Jumping Clothesline that succeeded in scoring the match winning three
count. The match time was 3 minutes 43 seconds.

Following the bout, Iceman King Parsons interacted with
his fan base at ringside, while dancing to his theme music “We Are Family” by
Sister Sledge. The Iceman then pointed at the commentary team and walked over
to them with a smile on his face. Jim Ross got up from the commentary table
with a microphone in hand to greet him...

Jim Ross: Iceman King Parsons, our fans here in
attendance as well as our viewers at home all know what your body has been
subjected to in recent times, thanks to a vicious attack from the mighty
Ugandan warrior Kamala, an attack that occurred less than one month ago on this
very programme. With all that in mind, you must be pleased with how quick you
seem to be bouncing back to full form in that wrestling ring, is that a correct
assessment? 

Iceman King Parsons: Jim Ross….to quote the great James
Brown himself, I FEEL GOOD! Many men in my shoes wouldn’t, because I’m a
targeted man in the dangerous sights of Devastation Inc., but I know a
comforting truth, I KNOW just like all of these great fans of mine KNOW…..I’m a
target because I’m DANGEROUS! Devastation Inc. knows that in 1985 it’s KILL or
be KILLED, and I’m out to build up a body count daddy! 

SKANDOR AKBAR, this all started with you, and it’ll end

with you sucka! but first of all, I need to take out your band of merry men. So
when it comes to eliminating the stinking operation of Devastation Inc.…I’m
going to start with the biggest and baddest they’ve got. He’s the man that
they’ve set on me….so I’m looking right back into his wild eyes and setting on
him….KAMALA I’m talking about YOU daddy! I’m not out to dodge the danger, I’m
going to face danger head on……Ohhhhhhhhhhh Mercy Daddy, you better believe it
when I say that I want KAMALA…ONE on ONE…..I want that match YESTERDAY! 

Jim Ross: Well, judging by the cheers of this audience, I
think many of our fans want to see that match too. I’m pretty confident that
“Cowboy” Bill Watts and the Mid-South matchmaking committee will be listening.
Iceman King Parsons, thank you for your time and congratulations on a strong
showing here today! Fans at home…we’ll be back with more action after a short
commercial time out!

We returned from commercial break to the sight of Jim
Ross and Joel Watts at the commentary table…

Jim Ross: Welcome back to Mid-South Wrestling TV. Now...
up next on the broadcast, we’ve got a video introducing a new competitor
that’ll be making his way to the area this month. He’s a young man with a feel
good energetic appeal that’s seen him find success elsewhere in the country;
they call him “The Birdman” Koko B. Ware. Let’s roll the footage! 

We’re taken to a video; it quickly scans past a line of

houses on a suburban street. We then see a close up of a street sign saying
“Welcome to Union City, Tennessee”. The video then takes us to a daylight scene
of a street basketball court. We hear and see the sights of children playing
ball on the court. The sound of a recently released song, “The Bird” by The
Time, is then heard coming from a boom box, the song gets louder as the source
of the boom box gets closer to us. We then see that the boom box is being
carried on the right shoulder of Koko B. Ware, who’s singing along to the song
and moving his left hand in a bird wing motion. Koko then places the boom box
down and looks towards the camera to address the viewers…

Koko B. Ware: Ohhhhhh Ohhhhhhh OHHHHHHHH this fresh new jam is KICKING man,

WOO!. I love it I love it….I…LOVE…IT! It’s a fresh new song for a fresh new
year and a fresh Koko B. Ware! I’m running wild like a live wire with the same
pretty young face but a brand new funky fresh attitude!!! 

You see, nowadays, I do the Bird…and allllllllll of
my troubles go away! When I arrive up there in Mid-South Wrestling, it’s not
going to be like it was in the CWA, I’m not coming to this fresh new turf to
repeat my old mistakes from elsewhere. I’m done with Norvell Austin and I’m
certainly finished with Jimmy Hart. I now realise that Jimmy Hart was no good
for me. He led me down a bad path that I don’t desire to walk down again. I’m
back with a new and improved mind-set for 1985... and this time around I want to
do things the RIGHT way, the DECENT way!

I want to be a positive example for
all of my people in Union City. I want to spread the word about the Bird!! If
you’ve got past regrets and troubles….just be like Koko and DO THE BIRD my
brothers and sisters!!! Any day can be the first day of a new beginning…..and I
plan to practice what I preach! Look out for me Mid-South Wrestling….because
I’m coming live and direct to your area and I’m feeling real good about it!!!!

Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Shawn Michaels

Young Shawn Michaels has been opening eyes with some hard
fought efforts in recent times, even more so after being added to the January
Supercard, which saw him matched up in a winning effort against Jack Victory.
Today, while still having some moments of shine, it was too greater task to
hope that Shawn could duplicate the same success against an opponent the
calibre of Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Since returning to the Mid-South area,
Jake Roberts hasn’t put a step out of place in any of his in ring showings,
with impeccable displays of calculated control and domination. Shawn Michaels
met the same fate as all of Jake's opponents in 1985 thus far….the match ending force
that is the DDT! Jake Roberts scored the pinfall in the match time of 5
minutes, 10 seconds. 

Match Rating: C- (This match got the crowd hotter)

Following the bout, Jake Roberts looked down at the
defeated Shawn Michaels with a prolonged cold and piercing glare. A sinister
smile then materialised on the face of Roberts, as he walked over to the
ringside commentary table. Joel Watts got up from commentary with a microphone
in hand, as he cautiously awaited Roberts to approach.

Joel Watts: Jake Roberts, we know you asked for some time

to speak here on television today. Now is your time!

The smile disappeared from the face of Jake Roberts,

replaced with an uncomfortable and somewhat hateful glare in the direction of
Joel Watts, who looked increasingly unsettled. 

Jake Roberts: The fortunate son gives me time to speak my
mind, how grateful I should be!...Let me ask YOU a question Joel Watts. Can you
name me one wrestler who was more consistently dominant than myself on this
television show last month?......I didn’t think so! 

I’ve been back here for over a month now, yet this is the

first time I’ve had a microphone in my hand. I’ve picked up win after win in
easy fashion, but where was I on the January Supercard? That upstart I was just
in the ring with, he got on the bill, and he got a pay day… but not me? 

But you know what? It’s alright! I don’t need to be your
daddy’s favourite to get ahead, I don’t need a microphone to put my story
across. Just look into these eyes man, look into these eyes for just five
seconds and they’ll tell you 1000 explicit horror stories that aren’t fit for
television!

I’m going to hand you back this microphone in a moment
fortunate one. I probably won’t be allowed the platform to speak on this show
again for some time afterwards….but I’ll embrace the gift of silence and the
formation of undisturbed thought it provides me. You see….today’s silent
minority could one day lead the violent majority! Think about it…..but don’t go

Joel Watts: Alright fans, that was Jake “The Snake”
Roberts….now errrr…yeah…we’ll be back in a few moments following a short
commercial break. Don’t change that dial!

Jack Victory vs. Tim Horner

The opening minutes of this contest were evenly matched,
with Jack Victory looking to have the capabilities to potentially pose a threat
to the more experienced Tim Horner. The most notable point of interest happened
outside of the ring around the 3 minute mark, when Jake “The Snake” Roberts
walked back down to the ringside area. While Jake’s reasons for being present
at ringside were unknown, he seemed to be paying particular interest in Jack
Victory. 

Seemingly aware of the presence of the observing Jake
Roberts, a change in game plan was detectable from Jack Victory. The youngster
began to ramp up the aggression against Tim Horner with some power based
offence. While the intention of Jack Victory was solid, his ability to fully
suppress the more experienced and battle hardened skill set of Tim Horner was
ultimately lacking. Tim Horner managed to mount an impressive comeback, using
focused technique to counter some of overly energised yet ultimately unpolished
aggression from Victory. While he’d given Jack Victory some approving looks
just minutes before, Jake “The Snake” Roberts began to shake his head in
frustration over Jacks performance as he watched the match slip out of his
control. The fans cheered Tim Horner on when he succeeded in picking up the
pinfall victory via a well-executed Natural Bridge. The match time was 4
minutes, 34 seconds. 

Match Rating: D- 

Showing similar frustration to that displayed following
his loss to Shawn Michaels at the January Supercard, the hot headed Jack Victory kicked and
swatted the ring ropes in clear disappointment over his failure to score the
win. Seeing this, Jake “The Snake” Roberts entered the ring and motioned for
Jack Victory to approach him. The two men then shared whispered words that were
for the most part inaudible to the television camera. After a short yet
seemingly intense discussion, Jake Roberts left the ring, he then stopped in
his tracks and looked back to Jack Victory, who seemed to be contemplating
whatever he’d just had said to him. After giving it some thought, Jack Victory
walked outside of the ring and left alongside Jake Roberts. The commentary team
of Jim Ross and Joel Watts had no explanation to give viewers, as they seemed
to be just as confused as anyone else to this seemingly random interaction
between Jake Roberts and Jack Victory.

Back to live footage in the arena, we see that Jim Ross
and Joel Watts have been joined at the commentary table by “Cowboy” Bill Watts.
After being introduced to the fans at home by Jim Ross, the serious faced and
clearly agitated Bill Watts began to speak his mind…

Bill Watts: I know that all of our fans are awaiting the

promised update on the well being and future plans of “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan
following the downright disgusting scenes that played out at the January Supercard
last Friday Night. I’ll get to Jim in a moment, but first of all, I want to
skip back to the events we saw in the closing moments of this television show
last week. 

Last week, we saw a bold and downright brazen defiance of
authority, MY authority….we saw it from the leader of Devastation Inc. Skandor
Akbar, who threw an envelope full of cash at my desk as I sat at the commentary
table alongside Boyd Pierce. Mr. Akbar clearly thinks he’s got this whole thing
figured out, he thinks that he can excuse any flouting of the rules by throwing
out cash. It’s clear that he doesn’t sweat 300 dollar fines, and I doubt he’d
sweat 600 or 1000 dollar fines neither. Some characters in this World clearly
have more money than sense, and these questionable characters are clearly
willing to keep providing financial resources to Devastation Inc. I feel the
same way as I’m sure all of our fans do, the situation stinks! 

Well I’ve got a message for Mr. Akbar and anyone else who

thinks they can outsmart the workings that have made Mid-South Wrestling the
strong and stable home of no nonsense professional wrestling for so many years
now…..it’s a very simple message and it goes like this…..I learn from my
mistakes and I adapt to the hand I’m dealt! I promised the fans last week that
the acts of Skandor Akbar and Devastation Inc. WON’T go unpunished, and I’m a
man of my word! If I cannot bring you all into line with financial punishments,
perhaps I’ll instead bring you into line by outplaying you at your own game! 

And that brings me back to “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, I want

to let you fans know that while Jim Duggan is clearly banged up following
Friday Night, he’s personally informed me via a lengthy phone conversation that
some of the rumours doing the rounds concerning the severity of his injuries
have been exaggerated. Jim Duggan tells me he’ll be back here as soon as
possible; it could even be as early as next week. When Jim Duggan returns, it’s
easy to figure out who he’ll have his sights on. So Ted Dibiase, I encourage
you to enjoy the little celebration you’ve got planned for later on tonight,
because when Jim Duggan returns, he’ll be coming for you like a wild pit-bull,
and when he does, I won’t be in any rush to pull back on the leash! You and the
other Devastation Inc. characters like to scheme and play dirty? Well let’s see
how you fare when those you’ve wronged are allowed to meet you on your low down
level and throw those same tactics right back at you!

The supportive cheers from the fans following the words
of “Cowboy” Bill Watts got replaced by gasps of surprise. Bill Watts soon clued
in to what caused this reaction from the fans, when he turned around to see
that he was being approached by a rival from his past…..JIM CORNETTE! 

 

Bill Watts: Well I’ll be….Jimmy Cornette! I’m surprised I

didn’t smell you before I saw you. Now…I’ve got enough things going on right
now to be wasting time dealing with the likes of you….so boy, you better make
your words wise and fast when explaining to me what on Earth gives YOU the
NERVE to show your pasty looking face back around here. Talk while I’m still
willing to listen, because this right hand of mine is getting real twitchy just
looking at the sight of you!

Showing little fear despite the hostile welcome from his

old enemy, Jim Cornette confidently smiled as he took a microphone from the
commentary desk and began to respond to Bill Watts. 

Jim Cornette: I suggest you dial it back a little Bill
Watts, it’ll be in your interest to hear me out. As much as it pains me to
admit it, I know you’re a man of your word Watts, it may have been written on
cave walls in the Stone Age, but you’re a man of your word! And to keep your
reputation as a man of your word, I know you’ll do the RIGHT thing by two good
friends of mine, Chavo and Hector Guerrero! 

Bill Watts: What’s your angle here Cornette? You better
talk real fast, because my patience is wearing REAL thin!

 

Jim Cornette: Oh I KNOW! I can see that right hand of

yours vibrating in fury. I can see the gritted teeth and the rage in those eyes
just from looking at me. You’d LOVE nothing more than to take a swing at me
right now! But you won’t…..because I’m not back in this area as a manager,
those days are done. I’m here in a new role, as the official LEGAL
REPRESENTATION of Chavo and Hector Guerrero. Two men who haven’t been given a
fair shake here in your promotion from the very day they arrived. 

These fans who rudely heckle me right now may hate to

admit it, just as much as they hate the sight of their own faces staring back at
them in the mirror in the morning, but facts ARE facts…You’ve already faced
threats of legal action from The Guerrero Brothers over failure to meet
contractual promises. You claimed “circumstances” well The Guerrero Brothers
and I claim “conspiracy”. I remember how I was mistreated in this rotten area,
how my Midnight Express were treated. When I found out what the Guerrero
Brothers were dealing with, I couldn’t allow such a talented team to be a
victim of any kind of conspiracy or prejudice. 

Just minutes before I came out here, I saw that so called

Tag Title match footage from Friday Night, but let’s call it what it really
was…it was a propaganda film for the Rock “N” Roll Express.

That footage FAILED to show how Ricky Morton SUBMITTED…..and when he did, there was conveniently NO referee around to call the match. The Rock “N” Roll Express are walking around as fraudulent Mid-South Tag Team Champions, the REAL Champions are the Guerrero
Brothers!

Bill Watts: Oh come on Cornette, even by your lower than

low standards, this is pure baloney! Whatever you’re trying to sell here, I’m
NOT buying, and neither are all of these people!

Jim Cornette: Well luckily for my clients The Guerrero

Brothers, the great no expense spared team who are working on their legal case…..backed by a
generous donation from my kind and caring, justice supporting Mother, they ARE
buying! That’s right Watts; the paperwork will be on your desk tomorrow
morning! Legal action HAS been taken. The Guerrero Brothers WILL be recognised
as the TRUE Mid-South Tag Team Champions, or else we’ll see to it that YOU and
this stinking prejudiced conspiratorial operation known as Mid-South Wrestling are
both cleaned dry! And Bill….I just want you and the Rock “N” Roll Express to
know, with all sincerity…that despite our long and nasty history, this isn’t
personal, it’s just business! Now…if you’d like yet another legal case against
you, swing back that right hand and punch my head clean off of my shoulders
Cowboy! 

Turning red faced as he tried to contain his rage,

“Cowboy” Bill Watts gave strong consideration to taking a swing at Jim
Cornette, but at the last moment, he restrained himself. Without saying another
word, Bill Watts turned around and headed towards the backstage area.  Looking real proud of himself, Jim Cornette
walked off camera in the other direction, doing a poor job at repressing his
laughter. At the commentary table, Jim Ross and Joel Watts both exchanged
concerned looks, neither of them seeming sure of how to go about moving the
show forward. Jim Ross was the first to speak…

Jim Ross: Alright…. errr…well, it’s been quite some time

since I last saw Bill Watts have his buttons pushed to such a degree. Joel, if
you want to go and check on your father, by all means you do that. Family comes
first. 

Joel Watts: No, that’s alright Jim, I’ve got a job to do

and dad would want me to stay out here to do it. Jim Cornette has always had
quite the gift for getting under my father’s skin, but trust me…this is nothing
my dad cannot handle! 

Jim Ross: Alright,… well… bear with us as we regroup out

here folks, we’ll be back with the Devastation Inc. tandem of “Nature Boy”
Buddy Landel and the NEW Mid-South North American Champion Steve “Dr. Death”
Williams...they'll be in tag team action after a very quick commercial time out.

Following the victory, “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel took a
microphone from ringside as he and Steve “Dr. Death” Williams watched on as
multiple members of a gourmet food crew headed into the ring and began to lay
out food buffet tables. The main attraction being a giant gourmet cake that had
to be carried out my multiple crew members.

Buddy Landel: Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s time for the
moment that the educated amongst you, which admittedly, isn’t all that many of
you….have been waiting for! It’s time for a celebration of one man’s mental and
physical superiority, a celebration of VICTORY combined with the education of
CLASS that so many amongst you are obviously lacking even a tiny percentage of.
Without any further ado, get up out of your seats, put your hands together and
clap with enthusiasm as you welcome to this ring….the Impeccable symbol of
class that is… Ted Dibiase! 

Ted Dibiase then walked out to ringside, dressed as

promised in his custom made Tuxedo with Tails. Dibiase was largely greeted by
the sound of boos as he walked to the ring, followed by Devastation Inc.
associate “Sheik” Hercules Hernandez. Shrugging off the boos and smiling from
ear to ear, Ted Dibiase looked to be having the time of his life as he strutted
around the ring, proudly allowing everyone to have a good look at this Tuxedo.
Dibiase then asked to be handed the microphone by Buddy Landel. 

Ted Dibiase: First things first, you people may not

believe me, but I really want to help you all!  I can lead by example and
help you all on the road to becoming more classy and respectful human beings,
rather than what I see so many of out here before my offended eyes, dress
senseless sloths! 

I have to admit, as great as I am, I’m only one man, I

can only do so much. I cannot work miracles! You people have to learn to help
yourselves a little also. You can start the process to becoming better people
by learning a little of something called RESPECT! Now, that booing I heard when
I came out here….that’s NOT..RESPECT……oh no it’s not…..you see people, that’s
NO WAY to treat “Sheik” Hercules Hernandez!    

Hercules Hernandez quickly side eyed Ted Dibiase at the
mention of his name, before turning his eyes with an aggressive gaze towards
“Nature Boy” Buddy Landel, who looked to be holding back a chuckle following
Dibiase’s words. 

Ted Dibiase: Sure, Hercules Hernandez may have fallen
short in recent times, but as far as I’m concerned, following his actions on
Friday Night, he’s back on the right track! So in future, greet him as he
deserves to be greeted, because even the biggest work in progress amongst us
within the fine operation that is Devastation Inc. is still more achieving than
most of you can ever hope to be! 

In Devastation Inc. you’ve got a collection of shining

diamonds. First we’ve got “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel, the man who I have full
confidence will soon be wearing the Mid-South Television Championship once
again. We’ve got “Big Business” himself in your NEW Mid-South North American
Champion, Steve “Dr. Death” Williams, a man of his word who took it to Brad
Armstrong just like he said he would! We’ve got a mighty diamond in the
unmatched weapon of aggression that is the Warrior from Uganda known as
Kamala……and we’ve got you “Sheik” Hercules Hernandez….a diamond in the rough, a
diamond that still needs a little cleaning and polish, but keep on following
our lead and you’ll be shining as bright as the rest of us in no time! 

Now, to address the ugly business that was the "LIGHTS OUT" match on Friday Night at the Supercard...

I know many amongst you didn’t like the manner in which I defeated “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. Well I’ll assure you all, I

took no pleasure in lowering my high standards by sinking my pristine teeth
into the unwashed flesh of that dirt dweller, but it was a sacrifice I made for
the greater good. Thanks to my sacrifice, I get to stand before you all,
officially bringing in a NEW ERA of TRUE CLASS to Mid-South Wrestling. 

I heard Bill Watts say earlier on that Jim Duggan may

actually show his face here again next week. Well if he does, it’ll be a face
that would give Freddie Krueger nightmares after the mess I left it in on
Friday Night. The sooner you people face facts the better, Jim Duggan has now
been exposed, and his reputation is now as trashed as everything else about
him. 1984 Mid-South Athlete of the Year? Well…1985 may still be young, but I
think we can already give Duggan his next and FINAL award, the 1985
Disappointment of the Year!

Ted Dibiase briefly stopped speaking; pausing with a look

of repulsion upon hearing the fans chant “We want Duggan” 

Ted Dibiase: No…No….NO….Stop with that! It’s NOT about
what you people THINK you want, it’s about what I KNOW you need! I suggest that
you all take another good look at me in this custom made tuxedo with tails and
soak in the living and breathing example of class and success that is stood
before you. I PROMISE YOU ALL…..I’ll have you all cheering before this little
celebration is over! 

Ted Dibiase then walked over to the buffet tables 

Ted Dibiase: Look at what we have here people, no expense
has been spared… we’ve got Blinis with Smoked Salmon and Caviar. And look at
this…..Vintage French Champagne that costs more per bottle than most of you
earn in a month! 

Then we’ve got this big work of beauty over here, a

gourmet chocolate cake! Now, being an athlete, I don’t usually indulge in
eating such things, but today marks a special occasion! Buddy, Steve,
Herc…We’ll all have a slice each later on, and we’ll save a slice for the good
General Skandor Akbar, who I wish could be with us tonight….and we’ll save two
or perhaps even three for the big man Kamala! 

Alright, television time is winding down, but this

celebration is going to go on all night, and you people are more than welcome
to stay and live vicariously through our success. Watch as we enjoy the
luxuries that come with wealth and success….and who knows…maybe just a little
of it will rub off onto some of you..sure..it’s doubtful…but what do you people
have if you don’t have hope?

Alright Gentlemen…..Buddy, Steve, Herc…..feel free to

grab yourself some food and drink. Let’s get this celebration underway!

trio in the ring were quickly cut short with the arrival to ringside of Brad
Armstrong, Mid-South Television Champion Terry Taylor, and “Hacksaw” Butch
Reed. The fans cheered the arriving trio on, Armstrong and Taylor backed up
“Hacksaw” Butch Reed, who was carrying the same baseball bat that he had with
him at the January Supercard. The fans cheered even louder when they approached
the ring, causing a look of concern to appear on the face of a panicked Ted
Dibiase.

Ted Dibiase: No…No…..NO…….there’s NO WAY you three are

going to spoil this celebration. Buddy, Steve, Herc….I’d fight alongside you,
but I cannot risk messing this fine Tuxedo up….please, go out there and deal
with these party crashers for me!

Ted Dibiase watched on as Buddy Landel, Steve Williams
and Hercules Hernandez acted on his request, leaving the ring to confront the
unwelcome trio of Armstrong, Taylor and Reed. As Dibiase watched a 3-on-3 brawl
commence outside of the ring, he was unaware of who’d just snuck into the ring
behind him, but the deliberate stomping of feet from the unknown entrant
quickly alerted him. With a look of wide eyed concern, Ted Dibiase turned
around to see none other than “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan!



With a bandaged up
forehead, Jim Duggan was unexpectedly here, wearing a tuxedo of his very own!

That wasn’t Duggan’s only surprise, he was holding up the gourmet chocolate
cake…a split second later, the cake came crashing down onto Ted Dibiase,
getting chocolate all over him and his custom made tuxedo with tails.

Realising that they’d been deliberately distracted, Buddy Landel, Steve Williams and Hercules
Hernandez ceased brawling and rushed back into the ring to tend to Ted Dibiase,
but it was too late. “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan rolled out of the ring, leaving Ted
Dibiase rolling around the canvas looking like he was in the middle of a full
blown panic attack, as chocolate covered him from head to toe. 

“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan walked over to the commentary table

and took a microphone

Jim Duggan: Hey Dibiase, Today, you may have gotten
messed up with chocolate, but don’t you go thinking for one moment that this is
over between us. I’m just getting started….and the next time I mess you up, it
won’t be with chocolate.. It’ll be after I leave you beaten black and blue!

But it’s not all bad Dibiase, You promised you’d have the

people cheering before your little celebration was over. I guess you were right
about that after all tough guy! 

The show closed with “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan sharing high

fives and handshakes with Brad Armstrong, “Hacksaw” Butch Reed and Terry
Taylor, as the fan favourites watched on while Buddy Landel, Steve Williams and
Hercules Hernandez all tried their best to calm down a highly upset and
chocolate coated Tuxedo wearing Ted Dibiase.

Jim Ross: Greetings folks, Jim Ross here, thanking you
for joining us for what is sure to be a sizzling edition of Mid-South Wrestling
TV, we’re coming to you from the red hot Corpus Municipal Auditorium! Our fans
are fired up for the finest professional wrestling action you’ll find anywhere
in the United States… and with the bouts we’ve got on deck tonight, they’ll be
sure to get what they came out for!

This week, I’m happy to be joined by the
Mid-South Wrestling Owner “Cowboy” Bill Watts, and Bill, while we’ve both got
some exiting things to discuss throughout the hour, I know you have some unfortunate
BREAKING NEWS to deliver at the outset …..

 

Bill Watts: That’s right Jim. I’ll get right to the meat

of the matter without keeping our viewers in suspense. In the early hours of
Tuesday Morning, I received a phone call from Japan, informing me that Ted
Dibiase had suffered an injury while wrestling out there for All Japan Pro
Wrestling. While detailed information has been hard to come by, it’s to my
understanding that Ted Dibiase has suffered an internal laceration of some
manner. 

Now, I can already picture the rolling of eyes from our

viewers at home over this news, but let me assure you all, if you don’t trust
Ted Dibiase, trust the fine people who run All Japan Pro Wrestling, one of the
finest wrestling promotions not just in Japan, but the World!….They’ve informed
me that this injury is legitimate and serious in nature. 

It’s no secret that Ted Dibiase and I have had a strained

relationship in recent times, the man surrounds himself with shady associates
and frequently utilises questionable tactics in his matches, but one thing
isn’t up for debate….and that’s the wrestling credentials of Mr. Dibiase.  When you cut out all of the baloney and hocus
pocus, the man is one of the finest wrestlers on this planet, and he’ll be
missed here in Mid-South Wrestling. I want to wish Ted Dibiase a speedy
recovery!

But as cruel as it can sound, this sport isn’t a walk in the
park; our wrestlers knowingly take risks every single time they step between
those ring ropes. The show MUST go on, and OUR upcoming February Supercard at
the Abe Lemons Arena is no exception. We’ve already got a replacement lined up
for Ted Dibiase in the Tag Team Main Event that was announced last week. The
main event shall now be, The Union of the Hacksaws, Butch Reed and Jim Duggan
vs. “Sheik” Hercules Hernandez and… replacing Ted Dibiase will be the man who
recently became the Mid-South North American Champion, Steve “Dr. Death”
Williams! 

Jim Ross: Steve Williams? That’s quite the replacement

right there!

 

Bill Watts: Duggan and Reed vs. Hernandez and Williams

will be a hard hitting throw down of a main event Jim, that bout alone is worth
the price of entry. On top of that, we’ll have the one on one showdown between
Iceman King Parsons and Kamala, as well as The Rock “N” Roll Express defending the
Mid-South Tag Team Championships against The Guerrero Brothers in a bout that
will have 2 referees assigned, one being of the Guerrero Brothers choosing.
More bouts are set to be announced and tickets are already going fast. I
encourage anyone out there whose sitting on the fence about making plans to
attend this event to act fast, you won’t want to miss this one!

Jim Ross: and what about the big main event we’ve got in

store here TODAY Bill?

 

Bill Watts: We’ll be seeing quite the preview of the

February Supercard here today, with two of the upcoming bouts for that card
mixed together for what is sure to be an explosive six man tag team contest. You’ll
be seeing the Devastation Inc. trio of “Sheik” Hercules Hernandez, “The Ugandan
Giant” Kamala, and the Mid-South North American Champion Steve “Dr. Death”
Williams battling it out with Iceman King Parsons and The Union of the
Hacksaws, Butch Reed and Jim Duggan. That’s RIGHT HERE…TODAY!

Jim Ross: I have to say Bill…That’s one of most enticing
televised main events I can recall being made in recent memory. We’ll be seeing
that and so much more….starting with our first contest RIGHT NOW!…let’s take it
to the ring!

Jake “The Snake” Roberts & Jack Victory vs. Mike Bond
& Rocky King

Two weeks ago on television, for reasons currently
unknown, Jake “The Snake” Roberts was present at ringside observing Jack
Victory as he wrestled, Roberts and Victory then shared a conversation which
resulted in both men leaving the ringside area together. With both men now
teaming together, it would seem that some type of alliance between the two
officially exists. If and when we’ll ever find out what has linked these two
men together remains to be seen. 

Jack Victory kicked off the bout, going up against Mike
Bond. The exchanges between Victory and Bond were evenly matched for the most
part, with neither competitor establishing a clear advantage. Momentum took a
clear turn in one direction following a tag from Mike Bond to Rocky King. Upon
the arrival of Rocky King into the bout, the fan favourite competitor put
together a sequence of moves that troubled Jack Victory, leaving the young
competitor looking rocked and highly frustrated. 

From the apron, Jake Roberts shook his head in visible
disappointment over what he was seeing from Jack Victory.  Eventually, Jake aggressively reached a hand
into the ring and demanded that Jack tag out to him. Wasting little time, Jack
Victory did what was instructed of him by his more experienced teammate. 

As he now found himself up against Jake Roberts, the
momentum that Rocky King had previously established quickly faded away from
existence. In his unique cruel and coldly calculated manner, Jake Roberts would
soon have Rocky King at his mercy, with full control over his opponent. 

In the closing stages of the bout, Rocky King attempted
to fight back with a last hope flurry of fast paced attacks that briefly threw
Jake Roberts off his game plan. One of these attacks saw a dropkick that Jake
Roberts somewhat succeeded in blocking with his arms, only to then fall to one
knee clutching at his left forearm as he winced in pain and uttered a swear
word under his breath. 

Shrugging off what looked to be an injury; Jake Roberts

made Rocky King fly up from the canvas with a well-placed high knee, before
aggressively pulling King into his grasp to hit his trademark DDT, which he
succeeded in landing. Still clearly troubled by an issue with his left forearm,
Jake slapped at the seemingly injured body part with his right hand, but victory
was there for the taking regardless, Rocky King was on dream street.

Rather than go for the pinfall, Jake Roberts went back to
his corner and tagged Jack Victory into the match via an aggressive right hand
slap to the chest. “He’s all yours now….Show me SOMETHING” yelled out Roberts
to Victory “I KNOW what you HAVE….but I need to SEE IT!”

Entering the ring, Jack Victory successfully intercepted
an attempted assist from Mike Bond via a running elbow strike. Jack Victory
then hoisted up Rocky King from the canvas, and took him crashing straight back
down via a Belly-To-Belly Suplex. A sinister smile came across the face of Jake
Roberts as he watched from the apron as Jack Victory scored the match winning
three count over Rocky King moments later. The match time was 4 minutes, 19
seconds.

Following the bout, Jake Roberts smiled through the clear
pain he was in as he entered the ring while clutching at his left forearm. Jake
Roberts then had some words for Jack Victory, which the television audio picked
up a little of…..”You have the physicality, but you need the hunger and the
mind state. This is just the start my man….the next step, is beating Shawn
Michaels. You saw me do it, you know it’s possible…but YOU’VE got to go places
that he isn’t willing to meet you at. It’s on YOU to walk the dark venomous
path; I can only show you the way GOOD man!”

Match Rating: D- (Jake Roberts sustained an ulnar
fracture injury during this bout, sidelining him for 2 MONTHS) 

The broadcast then cut to a music video. Set to the song
“The Bird” by The Time. The footage showed Koko B. Ware at various locations,
firstly he was outside of a movie theatre with a group of people, and secondly
he was seen standing in a playing field beside an ice cream truck, handing out ice
creams to a crowd of children that surrounded him. In the third scene Koko was at a
senior citizens bingo night. In all of the locations shown, Koko B. Ware had
the people doing the Bird dance alongside him. In the final shot of the video,
Koko is shown walking across a bridge with a group of people, young and old,
all following along, all of them doing the Bird. Koko then addressed the
camera…


Koko B. Ware: Oooohhhhhhhhhhhh AMERICA!!!… HAVE YOU HEARD???  With each week the movement only gets more

powerful!!  People all over the Mid-South
are now feeling it from their head to the toes; they feel the electricity that
is THE BIRD!!! Just get up off your feet and wave your arms in time to the
rhythm, that’s it! Now you’re doing it! You’re DOING THE BIRD….and it FEELS SO

Wrestling is the hottest thing going, and this positive energy I’m bringing
will reach so many more people! OHHHHHH I get SO EXCITED baby!!!! I cannot wait

We’re all going to do the Bird throughout 1985 and dance our troubles away….and
if any nincom**** with negativity gets up in our way, we’ll just dance right on

Brad Armstrong vs. Rip Oliver

In competition for the first time since losing the Mid-South
North American Championship to Steve “Dr. Death” Williams at the January Supercard, a clear focus was
detectable from Brad Armstrong, who was set on getting back on the winning
track following that high profile loss.

Fortunately for Brad and his many vocal supporters

throughout the Corpus Municipal Auditorium, the challenge of Rip Oliver wasn’t
one he had a great deal of difficulty overcoming. Brad Armstrong scored a
decisive victory with a twisting arm-bar into a Russian Leg Sweep, leading to
the referee’s count of three. The match time was 3 minutes, 11 seconds. 

Match Rating: D-

Following the bout, Jim Ross left the commentary table in
order to get some post-match comments from Brad Armstrong…


Jim Ross: Brad, while many of your supporters were upset to

see your reign with the Mid-South North American Championship come to an end
this past January, I know that nobody took that loss more to heart than you.
You’ve not lost the support of these people, and as we just saw today, you’re
just as sharp in the ring as ever. Regaining that North American Championship
must be the 1^st thing on your agenda, is that a correct assumption?

Brad Armstrong: With regards to the actual bell to bell, I’m
not going to come out here and make excuses Jim, on that January night in Arkansas
when I defended the North American Championship, the truth is, whether I like
it or not.. Steve Williams out-wrestled me. He was the better competitor on that
given night. 

Now, if the match was all we had to talk about, maybe I
could live with the outcome and move on, but we all remember what happened
afterwards don’t we? I took my loss like a man, I was ready to show respect to
the new Champion, but Steve Williams couldn’t help himself, he had to revel in
adding salt to my wounds.

Well Steve Williams, I advise that you enjoy your time with
the North American Championship, because after what you did to me, I’m NOT
going to move on. I’m making it my goal to get a rematch with you and take back
that Championship, because while you’re a fantastic wrestler, you’re also a cut
throat human being who doesn’t give a lick about who you have to step on or
what you have to do in order to get success. I’ve been hearing people calling
you “BIG BUSINESS” lately, and that sums you up real well right? Well let me
tell you Williams, some things in this life are more important than business
and money. These great people in the Mid-South deserve a Champion who can not
only deliver the goods bell to bell, but also remembers where he came from and
the people who made him!

So all of you good folks who’ve been with me this long,
stick with me, because I promise you that the best of Brad Armstrong is yet to
come! I’ll be a Champion once more, a Champion not just for me…but a Champion
for all of YOU!

Brad Armstrong and Jim Ross then turned their attention to
the unwelcome and uninvited presence of “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel, who took a
microphone from the commentary table and began to address Brad Armstrong.


Buddy Landel: You know one thing that’s more pathetic than a

natural loser like you Brad Armstrong? It’s a man who cannot come to terms with
his place in the system. In this life, you have natural winners and natural
losers, and you Armstrong, you’re the latter! You want a shot at regaining the
Mid-South North American Championship from my Devastation Inc. brother in cause
“Big Business” Steve Williams? Get real! Firstly, my man Dr. Death is moving on
to bigger and better things, and secondly, you should be thankful you ever got
to hold that Mid-South North American Championship in the first place, I guess
the saying is true, every dog has its day…but your time has come and gone Brad
Armstrong, accept it… your OLD NEWS around here!


Brad Armstrong: So let me get this straight… YOU of all

people are going to come on out here and talk me down for losing a Championship
and not accepting my place? YOU? REALLY? Aren’t you the same guy who came out
here onto television week after week after losing the Mid-South Television
Championship to Terry Taylor and claimed you were still the rightful champion
and it would only be a matter of time until you won it back? That WAS you
right? And if I remember another thing right, you then had your rematch with Terry Taylor and
you lost THAT one too!

We’ve both recently lost Championship gold Buddy Landel, but
I know I still have the respect and support of these great people. Now as for
you, other than the other Devastation Inc. members whose bags I’m sure you’ll
soon be carrying….who and what do you have in your life? I heard you refer to
another member of your group as the “Weak Link” not all that long ago. If you
want to see the real weak link, perhaps you should go look in the mirror! Now
get out of my face Landel!

“Nature Boy” Buddy Landel turned around and motioned to
place the microphone he was holding down, before swinging back with it in his
grasp and trying to catch Brad Armstrong off guard by hitting him with it.
Luckily for Brad Armstrong, he anticipated the attack of Buddy Landel and
swatted the microphone from his grasp. Jim Ross quickly moved away from the scene
as Buddy Landel and Brad Armstrong fell to the floor and began to trade punches
back and forth. “Cowboy” Bill Watts got up from the commentary table and called
to the back for security. Within moments, a team of security rushed out onto
the scene, and after a struggle, they succeeded in separating both Armstrong and
Landel. With both men held apart and STILL trying to break free of security to
fight each other, “Cowboy” Bill Watts took a microphone and began to address
them…


Bill Watts: Enough with all this pandemonium!
BRAD…BUDDY….BOTH OF YOU….LOOK AT ME AND LISTEN!

I know both of you are coming
off of recent high profile Championship losses, I know how much losing a
Championship can sting, and I know it can be frustrating to try and recapture
the energy you had before the loss. Self-doubt creeps in along with the
frustration, it’s only natural.

This is what we’re going to do….you both want to burn off
some frustration and find that Championship level energy? Well… you’ll be doing
it at the end of the month at the February Supercard, because I’m making the
match OFFICIAL right now…it’ll be Brad Armstrong vs. “Nature Boy” Buddy
Landel…one on one, man to man!

I look forward to see which one of you shakes
off the frustration and thrives under pressure when the lights shine the
brightest.... May the best competitor win!

Security escorted “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel and Brad
Armstrong away from one another, with both men still trading insults as the
show cut to a commercial break.

“Gentleman” Chris Adams vs. George South

“Gentleman” Chris Adams made quite the impression at the
January Supercard with his victory over Kevin Von Erich, and now, in his first
televised Mid-South Wrestling bout of the year, the highly confident Englishman
looked to continue his winning form.

Despite a hot start from George South, his flurry of
aggression was quickly counter wrestled by Chris Adams, who comfortably took
control of South with his more advanced wrestling technique.

With a higher skilled opponent, the displays of arrogance
from Chris Adams may have led to his undoing, as due to taking the time to
gloat and insult some of the ringside fans, he was caught sleeping on a number
of occasions by George South. On this day though, Chris Adams wasn’t close to
being denied the victory, sealing the deal with a Superkick that put George
South down for the match ending three count. The match time was 4 minutes 5
seconds. 

Match Rating: D (This match got the crowd hotter)

Following the bout “Gentleman” Chris Adams looked visibly
angered by the reaction of the ringside fans, who made their dislike for him
clear with the volume of their booing and jeering. From the commentary table,
Jim Ross entered the ring with a microphone in hand, ready to get some
post-match comments from Adams.


Jim Ross: Chris Adams, while your victory here today on

television isn’t in question, it would appear you’ve still got some ground to
cover when it comes to winning the support of the Mid-South Wrestling fan base!

“Gentleman” Chris Adams looked toward Jim Ross with disdain

as he snatched the microphone from his grasp. Adams then paced the ring,
looking out to the crowd in temper…

Chris Adams: What is WRONG with you people? Huh?

Is it intimidation, envy, or just a lack of understanding?….whatever it is….you should’ve remembered what I  told you ALL
the last time I was out here in Mid-South Wrestling.

I told you that I’d be expecting the appreciation an athlete of my calibre is due that next time I appear.

So what’s this noise all about? This reaction is NOT acceptable!

The jeering and booing only got louder following the words
of Chris Adams, who continued to speak on regardless…


Chris Adams: I guess the likes of you people aren’t graced with the presence of a WORLD CLASS athlete like me all that often!

Well, rather than continue letting you anger me, I’m going to get charitable! 

I’m not going to give you people less; I’m going to give you MORE.
 
Whether you care to admit it or not, you need a man like me in your lives on a more consistent basis, on your Television screens
week after week, month after month! So with that being said, it’s quite
fortunate for all of you that my BIG PLANS for Mid-South Wrestling in 1985
include having eyes on the Television Championship!

I mean, just look at who you’ve got as your Television Champion right now, the so clean cut he’s almost see through Terry Taylor, a man of image and no substance. Having a Television Champion like that, it makes sense why so many of you are never were and never will be drifters in this life.

While many of you have lives that are….well...let’s be honest about it… in-salvageable, my focus is on the future generation!

If…no…WHEN… the Mid-South Television Championship comes to me, I’ll be the inspiration that the children in this area so desperately crave. In the years to come, when they grow up to have a life at least 20% as good as the life I lead right now, they’ll look back with appreciation, respect and tears of
gratitude in their eyes, as they thank a Charitable Gentleman “MR. TV” Chris Adams, for everything they have!

The booing of the crowd turned to loud cheers. At first,

“Gentleman” Chris Adams began to think the cheers were for him, but he soon
understood that they were actually to welcome the arrival of the Mid-South
Television Champion Terry Taylor. After taking a microphone from the commentary
table, Terry Taylor stepped into the ring to confront Chris Adams.


Terry Taylor: So, you have EYES on the Mid-South Television

Championship? Well take a good look at it around my waist right now Chris!  Go ahead…feast your eyes on it until your
Hearts content. Because looking at this Championship and holding it are two
very different things!


Chris Adams: I know that full well Taylor…So give me a Title

Shot, and I’ll relieve you of the status you aren’t truly equipped to handle.
Let the people in this area have the calibre of Television Champion they NEED!


Terry Taylor: Chris Adams, I have 100% recognition of your

talent inside this wrestling ring, but I also have 100% confidence in the
talent that I possess! I don’t fear the challenge of you or any other man in
this profession. Last week on this very television programme, I said that I
want to be a FIGHTING CHAMPION with fresh challengers, and I stand by that
statement. So you can quit talking down to these fine people already, because
I’m more than happy to defend my Mid-South Television Championship against you
and shut that WORLD CLASS Motor Mouth of yours!

Upon having his request for a title shot accepted,
“Gentleman” Chris Adams began to smile as he backed off from Terry Taylor.

Chris Adams: Congratulations Terry Taylor! You may not
realise it yet, but you’ve just played a great role in history. You’ve cemented
your place in time as being the final step in the road for the man who’ll go on
to be the greatest Television Champion this crummy area has ever seen, you’ll
be the official stepping stone for the ascent of “MR. TV” Chris Adams!

Chris Adams then threw down the microphone and left the
ring, as an unfazed Terry Taylor stood his ground, removing the Mid-South
Television Championship from his waist and raising it high and proud for all to
see. At the commentary table, “Cowboy” Bill Watts informed the viewers at home
that he’ll look to get the match between Adams and Taylor signed to take place
ASAP!

The Grit Iron Grapplers vs. Pvt. Terry Daniels & Tim
Horner

This bout featured the debut of a highly touted tag team,

the duo of “The Dirty White Boy” Tony Anthony and “Dynamite” Len Denton have
come to Mid-South Wrestling as The Grit Iron Grapplers, a denim jean wearing
duo that have gained a reputation elsewhere for being no nonsense hard hitting
and rugged brawlers. Two men who have no objections to getting their hands
dirty. The duo has seen success elsewhere, once being AWA Southern Tag Team
Champions, as well as being NWA Central States Tag Team Champions on an
impressive three occasions. The dangerous duo comes to Mid-South Wrestling
looking to replicate the same success.

The newly dubbed Grit Iron Grapplers would find themselves
tested during their first outing, as the fan favourite duo of Pvt. Terry
Daniels and Tim Horner once again showed signs of having good foundational tag
team chemistry.

After some back and forth action between both teams, the
unrelenting and intense aggression displayed by both Tony Anthony and Len
Denton eventually gave them a clear edge. 

The end came after “Dynamite” Len Denton successfully
predicted a leap frog attempt from Pvt. Terry Daniels. Full force impact took
Daniels down to the canvas in the form of a Lariat Clothesline from Len Denton
that almost turned him inside out. A rescue attempt from Tim Horner was
successfully cut off in its tracks by Tony Anthony, allowing for Len Denton to
score the match winning pinfall. The match time was 5 minutes 32 seconds.

“Y’all best believe that was just a taste of the future”
yelled out "Dynamite" Len Denton to the camera following the victory “NONE of these boys
here in the Mid-South are ready for us!” 

Match Rating: D- 

Following a commercial break, we returned to a pre-taped
video, sent in by the Mid-South Tag Team Champions, Ricky Morton and Robert
Gibson, The Rock “N” Roll Express!


Robert Gibson: At the February Supercard, we’ll be back in

the beautiful Mid-South area, going up against those Guerrero Brothers once
again. Chavo and Hector, you can have all of the excuses you want, you can have
the 2nd referee of your choosing this time too. Keep on stacking the deck
against us baby, because overcoming the odds is what we do best!


Ricky Morton: You know Robert; I hear The Guerrero Brothers

have even got Jim Cornette speaking for them now, that Louisville loudmouth is
now hiding behind some Legal Representation title. Well Cornette, the Rock “N”
Roll are no strangers to dealing with you, and whatever role you take or
whatever stunts you try to pull, we’ll be ready for you and we’ll come out on
top, STILL wearing the Mid-South Tag Team Championship Gold that is so dear to
us, because the Rock “N” Roll never dies!

“Hacksaw” Butch Reed, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan & Iceman King
Parsons vs. “Sheik” Hercules Hernandez, Steve “Dr. Death” Williams & “The
Ugandan Giant” Kamala (w/  Skandor Akbar
& Friday)

A big time energy was in the air thanks to the highly vocal
crowd during this wild six man tag main event, a clash which served as preview
for two of the big bouts signed for the upcoming February Supercard at the Abe
Lemons Arena. Those bouts being the one on one clash between Iceman King
Parsons and Kamala, plus the tag team contest that’ll see The Union of The
Hacksaws face “Sheik” Hercules Hernandez and the replacement for the injured
Ted Dibiase, the Mid-South North American Champion Steve “Dr. Death” Williams.

The energy level had no time to drop during this fast paced
speed ball of an encounter. The wild and frenzied back and forth action on
display fuelled off the back of intense rivalries was too much for anyone to
fully keep on top of, especially the assigned Referee.

Due to apparent back issues, The Devastation Inc. mastermind
Skandor Akbar was sat at ringside in a wheelchair during the majority of this
contest. At one point during the bout, Akbar seemed to make a miraculous
recovery, getting up out of the chair to deliver a punch to the back of
“Hacksaw” Butch Reed as he brawled outside the ring with “Sheik” Hercules
Hernandez. As Butch Reed turned around from the punch, seemingly unfazed by it,
Skandor Akbar parked himself back down into the wheel chair, trying to pretend
that he’d never left it. Fortunately for Akbar, he was spared the consequences
of any retaliation from Butch Reed, as Reed quickly found himself preoccupied
with trying to fight off Hercules Hernandez once again.

Later in the contest, Friday seemed to lose control of
Kamala, who flew into a rage after Iceman King Parsons succeeded in countering
one too many of his attempts to interfere in the bout as the legal participants
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and Steve “Dr. Death” Williams did battle. Failing to
understand his lack of success, Kamala left the ring and bolted towards the
fans in the front row. The fans quickly scattered from their seats as Kamala then began to pick the seats up and throw them into the ring. Iceman King Parsons began
to pick up the chairs and throw them back at Kamala.

Iceman King Parsons kept one chair in his grasp in order to
defend himself, as Kamala entered the ring with a chair of his own. As Iceman
King Parsons and Kamala began to swing chairs at one another, the Referee had
no choice but to signal for a double disqualification. The match time was 8 minutes 6 seconds. Even though the match
was officially over, the action was far from being concluded. The show closed
with a wild six man brawl, after The Union of the Hacksaws Jim Duggan and Butch
Reed helped Iceman King Parsons fight Kamala off, only for the two of them to
be attacked further by Steve “Dr. Death" Williams and “Sheik” Hercules
Hernandez.

The closing minute of show saw Kamala, who was now outside
of the ring, dragging Iceman King Parsons through the ring ropes. Kamala and
Iceman King Parsons then brawled amongst the empty ringside seats that had been
vacated by the fans who feared for their own safety. Back in the ring, two wild back and forth
fist fights were being waged, with Duggan and Williams trading shots, as well
as shots being thrown between Hernandez and Reed.

“This is pure pandemonium!” shouted out “Cowboy” Bill Watts
from the commentary table “We need to get some officials and security into that
ring right now, or else these men are going to be fighting all night long!
Folks, we’ve got 15 seconds of Television time remaining, but we’ll keep our
cameras rolling…thank you for joining us, we’ll see you next week”
