Welcome to the forum Richie! An ECW rebirth in 2006 without the WWE imposed restrictions that hindered the real thing? I really like the look of this!

The show opens up with Paul Heyman, he stands in the middle of a sold out Hammerstein ballroom. The crowd? They are going absolute apesh*t. He thanks them for never giving up on ECW. For never losing their passion. He sure has hell didn't. "They doubted us in the beginning. What happened? We grew stronger and stronger. The said we couldn't get a television deal. Well we did. They said ECW was dead forever, well motherf*ckers.. WE ARE BACK AND BETTER THEN EVER! MORE EXTREME, MORE PISSED OFF AND READY TO SHOW THE WORLD WHAT THE HELL E...C...W IS ALL ABOUT!" The fans shower him with love and, of course, the loudest "E C DUB" chants you might have ever heard. Paul is ready. These fans are sure as HELL are. The question is, are you?
Before the match, ECW Backstage interviewer, Steve Prazak caught up with an angry Mike Knox. Steve tried asking him a question about his upcoming match and was shoved out of camera view. Mike Knox pulled the camera close and proclaimed he will put in the grave every ECW original until he becomes World Heavyweight Champion. Mike's obviously pissed he's not in the title tournament and vows to take it out on Balls Mahoney here tonight. On commentary Joey Styles would announce that the winner of this Battle Royal and the winner of a Fatal Four Way match that will happen on the first Hardcore TV - would face off for the ECW World Television Championship in the near future.
Backstage we see John Morrison and The Miz. They stand with their own personal cameraman, who's dressed up very similar to Miz and Morrison. "I don't even know why they got us in this match." The cameraman does a close-up on Miz. "Honestly though. Don't they see we're the hottest thing this company has going?" John opens up his fur coat, revealing his almost eight pack of abs. "In a company full of old farts, angry little Italians, and dudes who take themselves WAY too seriously... we're a breath of fresh air." Miz takes off his glasses and allows the camera to a shot of his eyes. "We'll take those Tag titles, we'll bring you the ratings and you pay us MILLIONS. Miz and Morrison will bring that back in one show. We're what ECW needs to succeed." They both step back and do a bit of posing together for the camera.
Once again Steve Prazak is backstage, trying to get a scoop - this time with Shannon Moore. Before he could try to speak to him, CM Punk comes into scene and intercepts. Punk puts his arm over Shannon's shoulder and walks off, looking behind at Steve and the camera grinning from ear to ear. Steve speculates what that could be about, before sending us to our next match.
Next we get of shot of Rob Van Dam backstage. He's set up on some crates, doing the splits while meditating. The next shot? It's of The Sandman, uh, doing his own sort of preparing for the match. Pounding down beers and chain smoking cigs. How else do you think Sandman gets ready? He walks down the hall and the camera widens to show Rob Van Dam looking across at Sandman. For a second they have a serious stare down, only for RVD to break out laughing and embrace in a hug with Sandman. "Hey dude! I know we're opponents tonight.. but this all about putting ECW BACK on the map. Know what I'm saying?" Sandman agrees and tries offering him a beer he had in his back pocket. RVD respectfully denies, thanks him and show him the joint he has for AFTER he wins tonight.
A hype video is played, showing a plethora of past ECW World Heavyweight Champions and their respected title wins. Starting with Shane Douglas, who won the first Extreme iteration of the World Heavyweight Championship. All the way to the last champion, Rhino. The video ends asking the viewers who will be the first ECW Champion of this new era?
Notes: I changed up things a tiny bit, with the Battle Royal being for the number one Contendership, rather then the TV title, as I felt it was too many title matches. I'll message the winner(s) with their prize options sometime today. Thank you to everyone who participated with predictions, hopefully everyone enjoyed Heatwave as much as I did! Have a great day - Richie.

The show turned out to be better than I thought it would be. Specially the segments, I feel like they belong in a "reboot" show for ECW, with some of the federation's aura. I'm really interested in heel CM Punk, of course, but I'm rooting for someone more established to become champion. I'm okay with the 4-Way to decide the other TV title #1 contender too.

I'm surprised at the Punk win and heel turn too. I thought Angle would end up winning the belt and have a good long reign while you'd build Punk and eventually they'd really feud.
