Follow the Process
Hey you guys know me probably? Yep it's Tam, the guy with the 90s AJPW Dynasty who's a massive mark for King's Road Wrestling. Well years ago this project known as the TamVerse became my main project I did with figures and only outlets, mostly video games. The TamVerse is of course, mostly a wrestling based universe, but also includes many things such as the NFL, NASCAR, and other events that have been changed. The TamVerse started with a simple idea.
This image being real, Vince McMahon going to jail for multiple crimes committed over the years. Including covering up Jimmy Snuka murdering his wife, the death of Owen Hart, the steroid trial, and various other counts of mistreating talent, I mean you could on, you know the kind of person Vince is. In 2007, Vince's cases are reopened with newfound evidence and after a long trial, Vince is sent to prison in 2010.
During the trial, WWE is put in the hands of Triple H, but due to every sponsor pulling out, WWE dies a slow and painful death as talent leaves and goes elsewhere, specifically to 2 promotions. The Late 2000s wrestling shared universe was started by ROH and TNA due to a need to keep wrestling alive after the death of WWE. Putting differences aside, the US scene was kept alive by these 2 refusing to let the sins of WWE ruin the image of the talent there. Most of the WWE roster went to these 2 promotions during this period from 2007-to 2010. Even today, ROH and TNA are massively important to the wrestling world, with the ROH and TNA World Title's being considered massive accomplishments to anybody who holds them.
In 2010, as fate would have it, I who for some reason was born 10 years early, would win the lottery, pretty crazy I know. With Triple H running out of options, I would buy the WWE outright, but instead of using their brand and image, I would simply keep the tape library and allow any talent who had stayed to sign with my new promotion or go elsewhere.
Violent Pro Wrestling would be officially formed on March 31, 2010. VPW has been the top promotion in the US basically since its inception. VPW has been running strong for 12 years now with no end in sight. Incredible matches, storylines, wrestlers, it's been the go-to wrestling promotion for over a decade now. The promotion quickly aligned itself with 1 specific promotion.
NJPW in this universe had Inoki have a different stance, he quickly saw how the MMA shtick just wasn't working out and decided to cut it and push Hiroshi Tanahashi, Katsuyori Shibata, and Shinsuke Nakamura to the moon alongside his old guard of Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Yuji Nagata, and so many others. Also not to mention, he had a motivated Brock Lesnar due to putting Brock in important matches and feuds that he really enjoyed. At this point, NJPW is the top promotion in Japan. Inoki would sell NJPW in 2012 to Bushiroad stating he needed to take a step back due to his age and wanting to be more involved with his family. NJPW is still the biggest promotion in Japan, But I know you have a question to ask right?
AJPW never had the NOAH exodus, the 1998 AJPW Dynasty is apart of the TamVerse. Misawa is still in charge of AJPW to this day due to him being able to retire when he wanted too, AJPW has been great at pushing young talent and it's current ace is Katsuhiko Nakajima who many see as the best wrestler in the country. Kobashi is still kicking around and is the PWF Chairmen now after his retirement in 2013. AJPW still hosts a yearly dome show and sells it out every year.
So you probably have a few questions still right? Like who's the biggest stars in the TamVerse? Welp! I'll give you 5 of the biggest stars in the TamVerse!
The Ace of VPW. Tyler Breeze is the best wrestler on planet earth and there isn't much discussion to it. Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, former VPW World Champion, Tyler once held the VPW World Title for 2 years from 2019 to 2021, he is the face of wrestling in the modern age. Main eventing VPW Wrestlefest for 3 years straight. When you think of wrestling, you think of Tyler Breeze in this universe.
The man who beat Tyler for over a decade, Kenny Omega. Kenny has been the thorn in Tyler's side since their first match back in 2008 and it has never stopped. Kenny is the current leader of the biggest faction in the world, Bullet Club. He is also the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion beating Tetsuya Naito for the title at Wrestle Kingdom 16 (Wrestle Kingdom is still 1 night btw). Kenny is the biggest heel in wrestling and is loved and hated by many, he is the Best Bout Machine.
The current VPW World Champion was the man to end the 2-year long reign of Tyler Breeze. Rich Swann has always been an incredible fan favorite as many see him as a modern age Kenta Kobashi, always having knee issues but fighting to the bitter end. Swann has also held the Triple Crown in AJPW and has been a constant in VPW and AJPW, having won the MOTY in 2021 with Tyler at VPW Reawakening. He's been champion for almost a year now and is still rising his stock all the time.
The purchase of Bushiroad led to the 2012 Rainmaker Shock when Kazuchika Okada defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi at the New Beginning and established himself as the new top guy in NJPW. From there on, his feud with Tanahashi is well known. In 2017, Okada had the MOTY with Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 11 after Kenny had defeated Tyler Breeze in the G1 A Block Finals, then beat Hirooki Goto in the Tournament Finals. Okada has won WOTY in multiple years and has been IWGP Heavyweight Champion multiple times. The centerpiece of the biggest promotion in Japan has never failed to deliver, whether it be working a 15-minute blitz or 40-minute epic, Okada will give you the MOTN or MOTY at any given moment.
Nakajima had an incredible rise to the top of AJPW. Starting at just 14 years old, Nakajima learned the ropes a long and grueling way. Through the 2000s Nakajima was just Kensuke Sasaki's young boy and sonlike figure. Nakajima was growing more and more as the years progressed and soon enough, Misawa took a liking to him and signed him to AJPW while he was also in Kensuke Office. As the years moved on, Nakajima was seen more and more as a top wrestler in terms of his skill. His matches with KENTA drawing particular praise from many publications. Nakajima challenged for the Triple Crown for the first time in 2011 and lost to SUWAMA. Nakajima in 2014 was able to finally beat his mentor Kensuke Sasaki and Kensuke retired after the loss. During the years, he was always so close yet so far to being champion and finally, in 2016 he had his chance. Winning the Champion Carnival for the first time he had another chance at SUWAMA and Nakajima finally established himself as the ace that night after having a war with Suwama that won the 2016 MOTY as Meltzer gave it 5 Stars and said it made him cry to see Nakajima finally get his spot. He's been at the top ever since and the crowds love their babyface ace.
Some things are gonna be missed in this preamble, this is over a decade of thought of history and moments that I've wrote down in a notebook. But I hope this gives you a decent idea of the world we're in now. Of course you'll get to see AJPW, NJPW, VPW, TNA, and ROH matches, but don't be shocked if I show you something occuring in BJW, DDT, or any other indie promotion as I consider the 5 mentioned to be the big 5 in this universe. I'll make some reserves to post yearly awards from 2007 onward to give more context but overall, get strapped in because as I've said. This is my main project, this is my magnum opus and I hope ya'll enjoy it as much as I do.
