I have really taken a dive back into TEW again, this time TEW 2020. While starting some new saves in the WOTI VI mod yesterday I was looking at the Product information for the company's I was running and trying to stick with the product. Does anyone use any checks and balances in TEW to make sure that their brand is distinct and does not turn into similar or identical save? If I am running an entertainment style company like WWEU (WWE Universe) and I notice a sever lack of star power, I am going to strike out and get some names onto my roster like Booker T or RVD. Similar if I am running an MMA-crossover style promotion I would probably seek out the likes of Ken Shamrock to add him to my roster. So how do you keep your own promotion(s) distinct and stand out from what you have played before?

I try to go different routes both with hires and storylines (to avoid repeat). Personally I also avoid long term deals, since I like to keep the rest of the game world fresh, by releasing some talent.

Right now my original MMA-crossover promotion Combat League Wrestling is more focused on singles matches and getting an initial tournament completed. It will be Chris Benoit vs. Rick Rude in the finals. I am a little torn on who to pick but I think I am going with Benoit to win the cup and championship.

Sounds awesome, then you can sign and push a lot of wrestlers with an amateur wrestling background.

Yes, I definitely want to hire that type of talent. I have hired Don Frye, Ken Shamrock, Tank Abbot, King Mo, Josh Barnett, and Matt Riddle. I have Danny Hodge and Billy Robinson as road agents. I wish I could create a match to mirror ROH's PURE Championship matches. I am trying to not hire "superstars" but if they are bad ass enough, I might.

Aleksandr Karelin can be a beast (if he is available in the mod)

I will have to look for him! I need to look for Victor Zangiev and Salman Hashimikov too! I had to look up their names to remember them but they were on a Starrcade ppv once and kicked ass. I think I want Big Van Vader to be part of it too. I need to see how many babyfaces I have vs. heels. Seems I fine way more heels to hire.

Vader was awesome in UWFi. "The Suplex Machine" Hashimikov is also great,

I thought about how cool it would be to have a Terry Funk locker room segment where he puts over Combat League Wrestling and talks about the mesh between extreme wrestling and old school wrestling, and why he is the best in CLW. I have MMA Crossover guys that get ranked low. I don't know how to get them higher match ratings? Do I use them as jobbers instead of pitting them against each other? I need to make sure I have the roster not divided by heel or face. I really do not want that for this promotion. I think the "fans" could decide who they see as good or bad. I see the matches as being physically and psychologically exhausting for the combatants. The shorter undercard matches I want to not be booked for too long. There are guys like Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit who I could feud against the Funk Bros. It's my "original" promotion that I enjoying booking/playing with TEW 2020 right now. In TEW '16 it was The Goldust Trio promotion in WOTI where I crossed over the really old school grapplers with the more serious wrestlers of today. I don't want any real pomp and circumstance with CLW. It is a promotion with money I would love to present as low budget as an old ECW episode.

You can still run 90% matches and 10% angles, then your angles would be interviews, hype videos and those major fight press conferences. Hot storylines and good angle segments will help them getting over. Unpopular workers will get getter grades in performance based products, while in populurity based products they will quickly increase to a basic popularity level just by being on tv. In cult promotions they will jump to 35 overness and in national size promotions to 40 overness.
