Extreme Rules 2012
Date: 29/4/12
Location: Allstate Arena, Rosemont, Illinois
Ladder Match for the United States Championship:
Zack Ryder (c) vs Wade Barrett
(The final battle in this bitter rivalry between both men. After WrestleMania, Wade Barrett says he won’t stop until he has laid waste to Zack Ryder and his pathetic little reign as United States Champion. He challenges Ryder to a Ladder Match, and Long Island Iced Z accepts, vowing to rid himself of The Prince of Preston once and for all.)
Tables Match to determine the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship:
The Big Show vs Kane
(The two giants continue to feud after WrestleMania. Instead of Big Show going through a table with his foot (stupid, I know.), Kane chokeslams Show off the apron through two tables to win this match.)
Falls Count Anywhere Match for the Intercontinental Championship:
Randy Orton (c) vs Cody Rhodes
(Cody Rhodes invokes his rematch clause after WrestleMania. In the build, Rhodes says Orton may have outsmarted him, but it won’t be long before he skins The Viper and drains all his venom. Orton says he’ll gladly give Rhodes his rematch, but it’ll be Falls Count Anywhere so he can rip him apart piece by piece. Rhodes wins after hitting Orton with a Cross Rhodes onto a steel chair to win back the Intercontinental Championship. Orton loses a No DQ rematch to Rhodes the next night on Raw)
Two-out-of-Three Falls Match for the World Heavyweight Championship:
Sheamus (c) vs Daniel Bryan vs (2-1)
(Daniel Bryan invokes his rematch clause after WrestleMania, blaming AJ Lee for his loss at WrestleMania. After heartlessly kicking AJ to the kerb, he says that he'll easily outclass Sheamus and reclaim the World Heavyweight Championship. Sheamus says that Bryan is nothing but a whiny little complainer and he loves to shut up complainers. This match is the same as in real life, with Bryan targeting Sheamus’s left arm and shoulder during the match, and The Celtic Warrior prevailing after a Brogue Kick.)
2 on 1 Handicap Match:
Ryback vs Jay Hatton & Aaron Relic
(The former Skip Sheffield makes his return after WrestleMania and begins an undefeated streak by squashing jobbers.)
Women’s Championship:
Layla vs Beth Phoenix (c)
(Layla returns from her long injury lay-off, replacing Kelly Kelly after Kelly suffers an ankle injury at the hands of Eve Torres.)
Chicago Street Fight for the WWE Championship:
CM Punk (c) vs Chris Jericho
(Chris Jericho refuses to accept that he lost at WrestleMania. He continues attacking CM Punk, as well as verbally attacking Punk's sister for weeks on end. Y2J says that he hopes Punk brings his family to the show so they can see him be embarrassed in person. Punk says that he wants to beat Jericho within an inch of his life, so he makes the challenge for a Street Fight. Also, during the match, Punk's sister punches Y2J.)
Extreme Rules Match:
John Cena vs Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman
(Brock Lesnar makes his surprise return to WWE the night after WrestleMania and attacks John Cena, laying him out with an F-5. He says that he is back to conquer WWE just like he did in UFC. Cena says that Brock is a bitch who ran away when he realised the WWE was changing. The two brawl and The Beast busts Cena open. John Laurinaitis makes this match official, and takes a vested interest in Brock in the build up. Brock vows to leave Cena in "a pile of blood, urine, and vomit." Before this match, Brock appears to come out alone, only to be joined by…. Paul Heyman! Instead of losing on his first night back, The Beast wins a bloody and brutal affair with an F-5 onto the steel steps. Heyman becomes Brock’s legal advisor shortly afterwards.)

Over the Limit 2012
Date: 20/5/12
Location: PNC Arena, Buffalo, New York
Intercontinental Championship:
Cody Rhodes (c) vs Christian
(Cody Rhodes comes out and says he's beaten everyone there is to possibly beat, so he's making an open challenge to anyone in the back. It's answered by Christian.)
Ryback vs Camacho w/Hunico
WWE World Tag Team Championship:
International Airstrike (c) vs Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger w/Vickie Guerrero
(Ziggler and Swagger win a tag team battle royal on Raw to become the number one contenders.)
United States Championship:
Zack Ryder (c) vs Antonio Cesaro
(The Swiss Cyborg debuts in WWE on the SmackDown after WrestleMania. He stays solo and doesn’t have Aksana with him either.)
Wade Barrett vs R-Truth
No Disqualification Match - If John Cena wins, John Laurinaitis is fired:
John Cena vs Chris Jericho w/John Laurinaitis
(Tired of John Laurinaitis running Raw and constantly abusing his power, John Cena challenges him to this match for his job. At first, Laurinaitis declines, but Vince McMahon forces him into it, and on the condition that he can find a suitable replacement. If he can’t, then the match will be forfeited. Before this match starts, The Funk Man reveals that Chris Jericho will be representing him. Instead of a Big Show heel turn, Laurinatis hits Cena in the back with a steel chair and allows Y2J to land a Codebreaker to win this match, meaning Laurinaitis keeps his job.)
Women’s Championship:
Beth Phoenix (c) vs Eve Torres
(Eve turns heel the night after WrestleMania. She claims that she’s the real face of the Divas division and not The Glamazon. Beth, having turned face and saving Kaitlyn from being attacked by Eve on an episode of SmackDown, thinks that Eve is an ungrateful woman who’s simply jealous of her success.)
Fatal Four-Way Match for the World Heavyweight Championship:
Sheamus (c) vs Kane vs Randy Orton vs Alberto Del Rio w/Ricardo Rodriguez
(Not much story here. All four of these men want to be World Heavyweight Champion for different reasons. Alberto Del Rio wants to add to his legacy now that he’s returned from injury, Randy Orton wants to find his way back to the top, Kane wants to destroy the competition, and Sheamus wants to continue his reign.)
WWE Championship:
CM Punk (c) vs Daniel Bryan
(Now out of the World Heavyweight Championship picture, Daniel Bryan begins targeting CM Punk. He says Punk claims to be the best wrestler in the world, but everyone knows who that moniker really belongs to. Punk says while Bryan was losing the World Title inside eighteen seconds, he’s been nearing a full year on his reign. The match ends when Bryan traps Punk in the Yes! Lock, but Punk reverses it into a pin, while also tapping, causing some controversy. Over the Limit ends with a furious Bryan arguing with the referee while Punk celebrates his win.)

No Way Out 2012
Date: 17/6/12
Location: Izod Center, East Rutherford, New Jersey
Two-out-of-Three Falls Match for the Intercontinental Championship:
Christian (c) vs Cody Rhodes (2-1)
(Cody Rhodes invokes his rematch clause after Over the Limit, and requests it be two out of three falls so he can beat Captain Charisma twice in one night. Christian accepts and says he’ll make sure Cody leaves New Jersey empty handed.)
Santino Marella vs Alberto Del Rio w/Ricardo Rodriguez (by Submission)
(Del Rio makes quick work of Santino)
WWE World Tag Team Championship:
International Airstrike (c) vs The Usos
(Faces vs faces.)
United States Championship:
Antonio Cesaro (c) vs Zack Ryder
Triple Threat Match for the Women’s Championship:
Beth Phoenix (c) vs Eve Torres vs Layla
Steel Cage Match - If John Cena wins, John Laurinaitis is fired:
The Big Show w/John Laurinaitis vs John Cena w/Vince McMahon
(The Big Show turns heel on John Cena during a tag team match on the Raw after Over the Limit, aligning himself with John Laurinaitis. In the build, Big Show says he turned on Cena because Laurinitis gave him an iron clad contract and that he took it to prove that he’s still the most dangerous giant in WWE. Cena calls Big Show a corporate stooge who sold his soul for the whims of a tyrant. Vince McMahon returns a week later and tells Laurinitis he’s sick of him ruining Raw, so he gives Cena a rematch, with the stipulation being it'll be in a steel cage match. Laurinaitis repeatedly tries to interfere, but Vince stops him and allows Cena to win by escaping the cage. The Funk Man is fired by Vince the next night on Raw, putting an end to "People Power" permanently.)
Ryback vs Heath Slater
(Ryback squashes The One Man Band inside four minutes.)
World Heavyweight Championship:
Sheamus (c) vs Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero & Jack Swagger
(Dolph Ziggler defeats Randy Orton on SmackDown to become number one contender. Ziggler says that he's been passed over for too long and knows he’s that damn good when it matters, which means that Sheamus’s World Heavyweight Championship reign has an expiry date, and that’s at No Way Out. The Celtic Warrior says Dolph can showboat all he likes, but if he wants a fight for the title, he'll get one.)
Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship:
CM Punk (c) vs Daniel Bryan vs Kane
(In the build up to this match, AJ Lee becomes involved with all three of these men and begins to string them along. She seemingly manipulates Kane to attack both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, tells Bryan she misses him, and tells Punk she loves him. Punk simply wants to focus on his WWE Championship, as does Bryan, but Kane becomes slightly infatuated. AJ draws The Big Red Machine away and allows Punk to hit Bryan with a GTS and win this match.)

Money in the Bank 2012
Date: 15/7/12
Location: US Airways Center, Phoenix, Arizona
Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a World Heavyweight Championship Contract:
Alberto Del Rio w/Ricardo Rodriguez vs Christian vs Cody Rhodes vs R-Truth vs Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio vs Antonio Cesaro vs Santino Marella
(Not much story. Rey Mysterio returns from injury as the mystery eighth participant in this match.)
Women’s Championship:
Beth Phoenix (c) vs Natalya
WWE World Tag Team Championship:
International Airstrike (c) vs The Prime Time Players
World Heavyweight Championship:
Sheamus (c) vs Jack Swagger w/Vickie Guerrero
(After Sheamus defeats Dolph Ziggler in a rematch on SmackDown, Jack Swagger attacks The Celtic Warrior. Swagger says he is bred to be a World Champion, and he’ll beat that Irish thug to restore prestige to the World Heavyweight Championship. Sheamus says he'll fight tooth and nail to keep the title, and he’ll make it two for two with the lesser client of Vickie Guerrero.)
Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a WWE Championship Contract:
John Cena vs The Big Show vs Chris Jericho vs Kane vs Zack Ryder vs The Miz vs Kofi Kingston vs Wade Barrett
(Again, not much story.)
No Holds Barred Match for the WWE Championship with AJ Lee as the Special Guest Referee:
CM Punk (c) vs Daniel Bryan
(Daniel Bryan continues to target CM Punk and the WWE Championship. Due to being intertwined with both men, Vince McMahon makes AJ Lee the referee for this match. Punk says he just wants AJ to be impartial and call it down the middle, while Bryan tries to manipulate her in his favour. This match is the same as in real life, with AJ seeming very conflicted throughout the match, but becoming angry when Punk wins.)
Off-Camera Title Change:

SummerSlam 2012
Date: 19/8/12
Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California
Pre-Show:
United States Championship:
Antonio Cesaro (c) vs Santino Marella
Main Show:
Chris Jericho vs Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero
(Dolph Ziggler begins running his mouth to Chris Jericho on the Raw after Money in the Bank. He thinks that Y2J has lost his step and is yesterday’s news, which earns him a Codebreaker from Jericho, who turns face. In the build, Y2J says people like him paved the way for overhyped and entitled punks like Ziggler, and now he simply wants to shut The Show Off’s mouth. Teddy Long makes this match in order for both men to settle their differences.)
Fatal Four-Way Match for the Intercontinental Championship:
The Miz (c) vs Kofi Kingston vs Wade Barrett vs Zack Ryder
(After winning the Intercontinental Championship, The Miz says that he’ll gladly take on all comers, which leads to Kofi Kingston, Zack Ryder and Wade Barrett all winning separate matches to get in this match. At the end of the match, Kofi hits Barrett with Trouble in Paradise, but Miz quickly hits Kofi with a Skull Crushing Finale to escape with the title.)
Ryback vs Jack Swagger
(Following his loss at Money in the Bank, Jack Swagger severs ties with Dolph Ziggler & Vickie Guerrero, declaring that he’s going solo. This leads to a prolonged losing streak to the likes of Santino Marella, Tyson Kidd, and Brodus Clay, which makes Swagger the next victim of Ryback. The All-American American takes an extended leave of absence the next night on Raw.)
Kane vs Daniel Bryan
(After failing to beat CM Punk at Money in the Bank, Daniel Bryan is irate. He begins blaming AJ Lee, who has recently been installed as the new Raw general manager. AJ, unappreciative of Bryan’s accusations, decides to choose his opponent for SummerSlam. She chooses Kane. Bryan wins with a lucky rollup.)
WWE World Tag Team Championship:
The Prime Time Players (c) vs International Airstrike
World Heavyweight Championship:
Sheamus (c) vs Alberto Del Rio w/Ricardo Rodriguez
(Alberto Del Rio wins a 20 man battle royal on an episode of SmackDown to become number one contender. Del Rio promises to fulfill his destiny to become World Heavyweight Champion. Sheamus says that destiny and fate are not real, but a Brogue Kick is, and he welcomes the challenge.)
Triple H vs Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman (by Submission)
(Brock Lesnar returns to the WWE before No Way Out and begins threatening to hold WWE up for money, or he'll leave for UFC. Triple H, still in his COO role, comes out and tells Lesnar to either take his regular pay or take a hike. Brock responds by breaking The Game's arm with the Kimura Lock. On Raw 1000, Triple H calls Brock out, but gets Paul Heyman instead, who gives Triple H a contract for a match at SummerSlam. Triple H accepts and promises to send Brock back to the UFC a broken man. Brock wins clean by making The Game submit to the Kimura Lock.)
Women’s Championship:
Beth Phoenix (c) vs Eve Torres
(Eve ends The Glamazon’s 322 day reign as Women’s Champion.)
Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship:
CM Punk (c) vs John Cena vs The Big Show
(John Cena cashes in his Money in the Bank contract on Raw 1000, but his match is ruined by The Big Show, who attacks both Cena and CM Punk. The Rock, who says he has been awarded a match with whoever is WWE Champion at the Royal Rumble next year, gets involved and is attacked by Punk, who turns heel and hits The Great One with a GTS. Big Show and Cena are both put into this match by AJ Lee, seemingly to punish Punk for his actions.)

Randy Orton vs Damien Sandow
(Randy Orton returns on the Raw after SummerSlam. He declares that he’s back and more deadlier than ever, and he will back on top of the WWE mountain again. He’s interrupted by Damien Sandow, who believes that Orton’s brief time away from the ring has seen him usurped by his superior in The Intellectual Saviour of The Masses. Sandow issues a challenge for this match and Orton eagerly accepts. Sandow counters an RKO and gets a surprise roll up on The Viper to claim a shock win.)
Main Show:
Intercontinental Championship:
The Miz (c) vs Zack Ryder

WWE World Tag Team Championship:
The Prime Time Players (c) vs Team Hell No (Kane & Daniel Bryan)

Fatal Four-Way Match for the United States Championship:
Antonio Cesaro (c) vs Rey Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes vs Sin Cara
Money in the Bank Contract vs Chris Jericho’s WWE Contract Match:
Dolph Ziggler (c) w/Vickie Guerrero vs Chris Jericho
(After winning their match at SummerSlam, Dolph Ziggler begins to gloat about how he has surpassed Chris Jericho and is a better wrestler than him. Jericho challenges Ziggler to a match, but The Show Off declines, saying he has nothing to gain from embarrassing Y2J again. Jericho agrees to put his contract on the line, but only if Ziggler accepts the match and puts his Money in the Bank briefcase on the line. Ziggler accepts regardless. A distraction by Vickie Guerrero allows Dolph to hit a Zig Zag and pick up another huge win. Jericho leaves for another tour with Fozzy shortly afterwards.)
Title vs Career Match for the Women’s Championship:
Eve Torres (c) vs Beth Phoenix
(This is The Glamazon’s last match in the WWE.)
World Heavyweight Championship:
Sheamus (c) vs Alberto Del Rio w/Ricardo Rodriguez
(Alberto Del Rio challenges Sheamus to a rematch. He says that The Celtic Warrior gained a fluke victory over him and he will not be denied a second chance to achieve the glory he was born for. Sheamus accepts his challenge, saying Del Rio won’t be World Championship material as long as he’s around. New SmackDown GM Booker T (having taken over from Teddy Long after SummerSlam) makes the match.)
WWE Championship:
CM Punk (c) w/Paul Heyman vs John Cena
(After SummerSlam, John Cena defeats The Big Show on an episode of Raw to become the number one contender for the WWE Championship. He tells CM Punk that every time they've met, Punk has beaten him, but now he knows him like the back of his hand and he'll have an answer for everything this time. The Second City Saint shocks the world by revealing he won't be coming to Night of Champions alone, and that he has an advocate...Paul Heyman! Instead of the double pin finish we got, Punk uses a distraction from Heyman to defeat Cena, who is also battling through an injury. Punk wins clean with a GTS.)

(Riding high after his huge win over Randy Orton, Damien Sandow challenges Zack Ryder to this match. In the build, Sandow labels Ryder a "bumbling ignoramus" who is not fit to share the same ring with The Intellectual Saviour of the Masses. Ryder accepts and says he’s made a career out of silencing big mouthed idiots, and Sandow won’t be the first nor last.)
Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship:
Antonio Cesaro (c) vs Kofi Kingston vs The Miz
Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero vs R-Truth
Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship:
CM Punk (c) w/Paul Heyman vs Ryback
(John Cena takes some time off to heal from an elbow injury following Night of Champions. However, he tells CM Punk he knows someone who wants to be WWE Champion just as bad...and that’s Ryback. Punk says Ryback has to earn an opportunity just like everyone else. Ryback wins a battle royal on an episode of Raw to become number one contender and promises to take his place at the top of the mountain. Instead of Brad Maddox being the referee, Heyman sneaks a pair of bolt-cutters out to ringside and tries to enter the cell, which distracts the referee. Punk takes advantage of the distraction to low blow Ryback and put him to sleep with the GTS, handing The Big Guy his first loss.)
Triple Threat Match for the Women’s Championship:

Six Man Hell in a Cell Match for the World Heavyweight Championship:
Sheamus (c) vs Wade Barrett vs Randy Orton vs Cody Rhodes vs Rey Mysterio vs The Big Show

Booker T then announces a series of matches to determine Sheamus’s next opponent, with Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, Rey Mysterio, and The Big Show all winning separate matches in the coming weeks to compete in a fatal five way match on an episode of SmackDown a week before this event.. That match ends in a no contest after all five men brawl all over the arena. Sheamus says that he doesn't want to face one of them in Hell in a Cell...he wants to face all of them! (After being defeated by Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Triple H makes his return to Raw and challenges Brock to a rematch. He says he wants to punish The Beast for spitting on him and the entire WWE. Punk refuses to defend the WWE Championship against both of them, stating that he’s already beaten them and that they should earn a title shot first, but Vince McMahon (who has recently removed AJ Lee from her position as Raw general manager for being too unstable) comes out and announces that Punk will face both men in a triple threat match. Just when it looks like Punk is on the verge of losing, a trio of NXT superstars, revealed to be Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns, come through the crowd and attack Ryback. They powerbomb The Big Guy through the announcers table and practically allow Punk to pin Cena and retain the WWE Championship.)

WWE Championship:
CM Punk (c) w/Paul Heyman vs The Rock
(The Rock returns for his promised match with the WWE Champion. In the build, Punk says it’s disgusting that he works his ass off every day for 50 weeks a year and no one respects him, while The Rock can run off to Hollywood and come back a hero. The Rock says no one respects Punk because he's not a real man. Punk tells The Great One that he can't touch him in the ring, and that his arms are too short to box with God. The Shield interfere in this match and triple powerbomb The Rock, which allows Punk to walk away with the WWE Championship.)
Royal Rumble Notes:
Dolph Ziggler and Zack Ryder start the match at #1 and #2, with both men putting in dual iron man performances respectively, with Ziggler lasting 49 minutes and making it to the final four, and Ryder lasting 47 minutes and making it to the final six before he’s eliminated by The Show Off.
Goldust makes a surprise return at #8
The Godfather makes a surprise appearance at #17
