Hello all!
New to this board but been a long time simmer. I like to write an accompanying diary with my games and try to keep my storylines plausible to company I’m booking, if not realistic. For my next project I’m planning on writing a news letter come magazine style diary starting in 1992. Loosely based on a hybrid of the wrestling observer newsletter and superstars of wrestling/powerslam (uk) magazines, I’m looking to focus as much on the behind the scenes goings on as the in ring action. im looking to cover as many promotions as feasible. Over the next few months I’ll be researching and gathering as much data as I can (mainly using cagematch as my source) on all the promotions
I am planning to run multiple Sims and write about the results, using EWR. whilst the sims won’t be intertwined within the game, they will be linked in the diary and will keep rosters up to date using the arsenic program. For example, if Hulk Hogan left the WWF to join WCW, I would release him from the WWF in that sim and sign him in the WCW sim. I have some rough ideas how to account for overness for wrestlers moving between promotions but will discuss that later in this thread.
the first phase of my plan was to identify as many active promotions between October 1991 & December 1992. Have eventually identified approximately 130 promotions, with 70 odd independent shows. Have collected data on where each promotion operates and who runs them
Currently working on the scheduling of shows for each of the promotions identified. I am using the real life events of each promotion as a guide for how many shows I will sim for each promotion. I should note that it will be highly unlikely that I will be simming every promotion I’ve identified but the schedule planning will help me identify how many I can cover and where I can fit them in. For example, as the WWF run shows most days, I will have a save solely focussed on that promotion. Whereas I could potentially run seven independent promotions who run one show a week in the same save. Will have a better idea once I’ve gathered the real life data on each fed.
I also need to identify rosters for each promotion and build the data in to each sim I’m running. Will need to decide what attributes to assign each wrestler and program accordingly.
I really hope this all makes sense. I’m planning on updating this thread with my progress as I go. It will help keep me motivated. If anyone is interested but feels I’ve not explained my project well I’m happy to answer any questions as best as I can. I’m hoping to be ready to start posting my newsletter diary in the new year, once I’m happy I’ve put everything in place.
