Hello all and welcome to my first attempt at a diary on here. I've read several, if not a dozen, diaries on the forums and am genuinely impressed with each and every one of them. There are some truly spectacular and inspiring threads on here. Kudos to you all. This diary will be documented by playing Journey of Wrestling using the scenario "Dawn of Ruthless Aggression" created by CM Dawn Summer World (who has made many wonderful scenarios btw). The premise is Shane McMahon actually did sign the contract, only this time it is to bring back Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Shane's vision is to create a wrestling company that will eventually rival his fathers. The ultimate goal of this is to have fun for myself and actually enjoy a scenario. Far too often I play JoW and book without thought and fly through weeks, months, PPVs, and stories. By actually posting each in game week (and other various details), I hope to essentially stop and smell the roses. I plan on being as realistic as possible while also still having fun and letting my imagination run wild. One last note, I originally planned to start posting from the very beginning but at each PPV I kept forgetting to increase the weekly show limit, so the first three months only had two weekly shows between PPVs. Thus, I've decided to summarize the first three months and start posting each show from here on out. Without further ado, the details:
Game - Journey of Wrestling Scenario - Dawn of Ruthless Aggression (starts in September of 2002) Started as a Backyard Promotion with the lowest possible funds (150 Creative Points) Roster - drafted from all available indies and signed some lower card wrestlers from rival companies - starting as a backyard promotion I was limited to drafting 20 people total, it's gonna be a pain to try and get a bigger roster size with limited Creative Points Running three weekly shows plus one super show until I can obtain a higher reputation and bigger roster. The supershow is counted as a PPV on the game but for this diary is will be a super weekly show to start out. I only have 6 total segments to start out with, so storylines and character advancement will be bare to start out
Roster - Mick Foley - Diamond Dallas Page - Raven - Syxx-Pac - Terry Funk - Dustin Rhodes - William Regal - Samoa Joe - Konnan - Chavo Guerrero - Lance Storm - Buff Bagwell - Vampiro - Billy Kidman - D'Lo Brown - Tajiri - Mike Awesome - Lance Hoyt - John Cena - Shannon Moore
Tag Teams - The Un-Americans - Lance Storm & William Regal - John Cena & Billy Kidman
Factions - The Dead Society - Raven (leader), Dustin Rhodes, Lance Hoyt, and Buff Bagwell - Hardcore Legends - Mick Foley and Terry Funk
PPVs - Jan: Seek and Destroy - Feb: Hard Times - Mar: Carolina Cup - Apr: Bluegrass Brawl - May: Volunteer Slam - Jun: Locked and Loaded - Jul: Beach Blast - Aug: Fire on the Mountain - Sep: K-Town Showdown - Oct: Halloween Scream - Nov: Thanksgiving Thunder - Dec: Christmas Chaos
Storylines so far - Raven won the inaugural SMW World Heavyweight Championship at K-Town Slam over Mick Foley and so The Dead Society and the Hardcore Legends have been feuding ever since - Samoa Joe has targeted DDP in an attempt to take down the veteran and make a name for himself - John Cena has shown frustrations with tag partner Billy Kidman due to their recent losses - Vampiro is trying to persuade Shannon Moore to join him and start their own team

SATURDAY NIGHT SHOWDOWN - WEEK 1, NOV 2002 - 3 SHOWS TO CHRISTMAS CHAOS
1. RECAP PACKAGE - 3.5 stars - A promo video opens the show highlighting Supershow #3 Thanksgiving Thunder. In particular it focuses on the SMW World Heavyweight Championship match in which Raven (c) def. Terry Funk.
2. Tag Team Match - 3 stars - Hardcore Legends def. John Cena and Billy Kidman. The Hardcore Legends, Terry Funk and Mick Foley, get back on track with a tag team victory. The two have been after Raven and The Dead Society since the inception of Smoky Mountain Wrestling but have come up short in every title match. This was a much needed win. After the match Cena vents his frustrations with partner Billy Kidman. The two are clearly not on the same page.
3. Video Package - 3.25 stars - A video package comes on focusing on the The Un-Americans, Lance Storm and William Regal. The two announce to the rest of the roster that they are the best technical wrestlers on the planet, and the rest of the roster have officially been put on notice. Their work in SMW is just getting started and they are not looking to make friends with any slimy Americans.
4. Singles Match - 3 stars - Samoa Joe def. Shannon Moore. Joe makes quick work of the smaller Shannon Moore. Joe looks menacing and vicious in his victory. After the match Shannon Moore is left alone shaking his head in the ring. Vampiro comes out on the entrance ramp and stares down the beaten Shannon Moore.
5. Backstage Interview - 2.25 stars - We are backstage with SMW World Heavyweight Champion Raven and The Dead Society (Lance Hoyt and Buff Bagwell). Raven proclaims that he and this group are a force to be reckoned with, not only in SMW but in all of professional wrestling. He goes on to announce they will have no mercy on anyone, including washed-up has beens such as the Hardcore Legends. And in fact, their group is only getting getting stronger. As he says this a menacing Dustin Rhodes comes into picture. Raven announces Rhodes as the newest member of the The Dead Society and the group gives off a taunting laugh. Raven says this is only the beginning.
6. Main Event Singles Match - 4 stars - Good Psychology .5 increase - Dustin Rhodes def. Syxx-Pac. In a surprisingly a long but uncompetitive match, the newest member of The Dead Society Dustin Rhodes defeats Syxx-Pac. Raven and the rest of the group join him afterwards in the ring. Lance Hoyt kicks Syxx-Pac out of the ring and the group gives a glaring stare into the camera to close the show.
SHOW NOTES - Overall - 3.25 stars - Terry Funk is starting to get Over - Shannon Moore's "Velocity" gimmick declined from Not Good to Bad changing Overness by -5 - 0 fans were gained, 15k people watched, 0.01 rating - Talent Requests: Syxx-Pac has requested to have a singles match with William Regal (ends next month) - Mike Awesome (staph infection) is out for 1-3 months

SATURDAY NIGHT SHOWDOWN - WEEK 2, NOV 2002 - 2 SHOWS TO CHRISTMAS CHAOS
1. Singles Match - 4 stars - Lance Storm w/ William Regal def. Syxx-Pac. Storm won due to Syxx-Pac getting distracted by William Regal who was at ringside. The Un-Americans taunt Syxx-Pac after the match. Syxx-Pac gets on the mic and says Storm got lucky this week but he's over him. Syxx-Pac challenges Regal to go one on one with him at Christmas Chaos. Regal gladly accepts.
2. Team Tension - 1.5 stars - Backstage John Cena and Billy Kidman get into an argument about their recent struggles. John Cena questions if Kidman can be a legitimate partner going forward. Kidman says of course he can, he's just going through a recent funk. He practically begs Cena to give him one more shot to prove himself. Cena again questions this but says alright, they'll team once more going forward, but if they lose the team is over. Kidman says they won't lose, that together the two of them can be anyone on any given night. He walks away with Cena shaking his head.
3. Singles Match - 2.75 stars - Chavo Guerreo def. Shannon Moore. Moore continues to come up short. After the match Vampiro walks out and grabs a mic. He tells Moore that Moore needs some guidance and leadership, and Moore could be a star. He hypes up Moore as an up and coming next big prospect, and that Vampiro could lead him to greatness. And to prove this, he says they should team up. Moore reluctantly accepts. Then Vampiro calls out Billy Kidman and John Cena, saying he heard their looking for a match. Well they can have one against Vampiro and Shannon Moore at Christmas Chaos.
4. Backstage Interview - 3.75 stars - The Hardcore Legends vent their frustration toward Raven and The Dead Society, calling them cowards disguised as tough guys. Funk in particular is extremely emotional. He challenges Raven to one last title shot at Christmas Chaos, even giving Raven the option to choose the stipulation of the match. Funk announces if he loses to Raven, he'll never challenge for the SMW World Title again. Foley asks are you sure you want to go through with this and Funk says to not ever doubt him. He needs this match. Funk says Raven has one week to answer.
5. Singles Match - 2.75 stars - Diamond Dallas Page def. D'Lo Brown. After the match DDP calls out the young Samoa Joe. He says he's impressed but not intimidated by him, and Joe's victory at Thanksgiving Thunder was a fluke. If Joe really is who he thinks he is, the two will go one on one again at Christmas Chaos.
6. Staredown - 1.75 stars - Samoa Joe comes out and stares down DDP and laughs. He says DDP's time is up and he doesn't know it yet, but if he really wants a wake up call, Joe will be glad to give it to him. Joe says he's going to destroy DDP at Christmas Chaos.
SHOW NOTES - Overall 2.75 stars - SMW's Overness (12%) decreased from Not Popular to Stale - Billy Kidman's Overness (39%) decreased from Average to Not Popular, his gimmick Cruiserweight Contender declined from Average to Not Good - Lance Storm and Syxx-Pac put on a Hot Match - SMW lost 800 fans, 16k people watched, 0.01 rating
SUPERSHOW #4 CHRISTMAS CHAOS - matches announced so far - Singles Match - Diamond Dallas Page vs Samoa Joe - Singles Match - Syxx-Pac vs William Regal w/ Lance Storm - Tag Team Match - Billy Kidman and John Cena vs Shannon Moore and Vampiro

SATURDAY NIGHT SHOWDOWN - WEEK 3, NOV 2002 - ONE SHOW TILL CHRISTMAS CHAOS
1. Singles Match - 2.75 stars - Shannon Moore w/ Vampiro def. John Cena w/ Billy Kidman. Ahead of the tag team match featuring all four men, Moore would square off against John Cena to open the show. Vampiro did not initially walk out with Shannon Moore but made his presence known midway during the match. Moore's face revealed he wasn't sure about Vampiros intentions but kept on battling. It was a competitive match until Vampiro and Kidman got into a yelling match outside the ring. The ref went to break it up, and Moore hit Cena with a low blow stealing the victory. Vampiro and Moore walked away seemingly as a team while Cena vented his frustration toward Kidman.
2. Event Package - 3 stars - We are shown a video package hyping up the upcoming Supershow #4 Christmas Chaos. It focuses on the rivalries of DDP/Samoa Joe, Syxx-Pac/The Un-Americans, and most importantly The Dead Society/Hardcore Legends.
3. Singles Match - 2.5 stars - Slow Start -.5 - Diamond Dallas Page def. Chavo Guerrero. The veteran DDP made relatively quick work over the inferior Chavo Guerrero.
4. Video Package - 2.25 stars - Immediately after the DDP/Chavo match, Samoa Joe is shown on screen taunting DDP. Calling him a has-been old-timer whose time is running up and will come to a close at Christmas Chaos. DDP yells for him to come out of the back and to settle this now but to no avail.
5. Tag Team Match - 3.5 stars - The Un-Americans def. Konnan and Tajiri. Konnan and Tajiri gave The Un-Americans all they could handle but ultimately came up short. Storm and Regal look to be in a class of their own when it comes to mat wrestling prowess, putting on a full display of technical wrestling at it's finest. Regal says into the camera this was a warm up and he's ready to make Syxx-Pac cry in pain.
6. Contract Signing - 4.75 stars - It was reported that Raven accepted Foley's Last Shot Challenge for the SMW World Heavyweight Title. Of course being Raven, everything would have to be on his terms. Before the show he told the Hardcore Legends to meet him in the ring and they'd go over the details and sign the contract. The Hardcore Legends entered first followed by all four members of The Dead Society. Raven said at one time he looked up to both Foley and Funk, admired them and was even inspired by them at points in his career. But he reminded them of the age old phrase, "never meet your heroes". Because the guys he sees now are pathetic versions of what once was. And to prove this, he'll fight Funk one on one with no interference... IN A STEEL CAGE. He reminded Funk this is his last shot and at Christmas Chaos he's going to put the old dog down once and for all. Before the segment ends The Dead Society attacks the Hardcore Legends. They quickly take the advantage with the numbers game. On command, Buff Bagwell and Dustin Rhodes put Foley through one table and Lance Hoyt powerbombs Funk through another. Raven signs the contract over a lifeless Funk to end the show.
SHOW NOTES - 3.25 overall - Raven's Overness (61%) increased from Average to Popular - The Dead Society and Hardcore Legends put on a Hot Segment - DDP's morale (61%) changed to Happy from Content - Lost 300 fans, 15k people watched, 0.01 rating
EDITORS NOTE - I'm finding it increasingly hard to book with only 6 segments per weekly show and only 20 roster members. My immediate agenda is to upgrade my producer to get access to more and different segments and find ways to increase my roster size. I'm low on Creative Points at the moment so more than likely I'll have to resort to trading guys. I'll try and find kayfabe reasons why guys got traded but expect to see a rotating roster for the next few months.
