Week 1 - January 2023WWE RawMonday -- Week 1 -- January 2023Live! from Springfield, MAAUSTIN THEORY & ALPHA ACADEMY |VS| JOHNNY GARGANO & THE STREET PROFITSIn a match set up on social media and at a house show the previous weekend, the United States Champion Austin Theory reluctantly shared a ring with Alpha Academy to take on his former mentor Johnny Gargano and the Street Profits. We get some stalling early on as Theory refuses to enter the ring with Gargano. Otis starts off and he works over Gargano to start. The heels keep Gargano isolated in the corner and continually tag in and out to take over. Theory gets cocky and misses a corner clothesline and Gargano tags in Montez Ford. Ford is on fire and takes down all three heels. Eventually things break down and all six men are in the ring together. Angelo Dawkins goes for a corner avalanche on Theory but Gable pulls Theory out of the way and Dawkins collides with Montez Ford. Otis throws Dawkins out of the ring and squishes Ford with a belly-to-belly suplex. Gargano jumps in and goes to attack Otis but Theory is back in. He kicks a charging Gargano and hits the A-Town Down and covers him for the win.WINNERS by pinfall: Austin Theory & Alpha Academy (21:51) | 56AJ STYLES ISSUES A CHALLENGEAJ is backstage with Cathy Kelley. He's getting ready to cut a promo when he sees someone off camera and shouts "Hey!" The camera man turns and we see AJ approach Seth Rollins. He grabs Seth's arm and pulls him back and gets right in Seth's face. AJ says that he's been angry all week because of Seth's "bullshit" attack on him last week. AJ wants a match with Seth tonight. Seth laughs and tells AJ that AJ can't do anything without his buddies and asks if AJ got their permission to stand up for himself. AJ tells Seth to shut up and calls him a coward. Seth gets angry and shoves AJ. Other wrestlers and road agents rush in and separate the two. Seth tells AJ that he'll see him in the ring tonight. | 74AN ATTACK SENDS A MESSAGERight before the commercial break there's a shot of Bianca BelAir walking down a hallway. The announcers mention that she is on her way to the ring to talk about her WWE World Women's Championship defense at Royal Rumble. But RHEA RIPLEY jumps Bianca from behind. She slams her into a wall and knees her in the stomach. Rhea slams her down onto a table and begins to choke her. Once again road agents and security rush in to pull Rhea off of Bianca and Rhea starts telling Bianca that she'll see her at Royal Rumble. The announcers are stunned as there hasn't been an announcement regarding Bianca's opponent for Royal Rumble yet but apparently it's Rhea. They'll work to confirm that and be back after the break. | 80MATT RIDDLE |VS| ROBERT ROODEAfter the commercial break, Robert Roode's music hits and the Glorious One makes his way down to the ring. The announcers confirm that Rhea Ripley will be facing Bianca Belair for the WWE World Women's Championship at the Royal Rumble. Matt Riddle is introduced but he's jumped by Roode before he finishes his entrance. Roode beats Riddle around the ring to start. Riddle fights back and eventually starts to take over. Roode cuts him off with a thumb to the eyes and takes back over. The finish comes when Roode goes for a superplex but Riddle blocks it and throws Roode down onto the mat. Riddle hops off ropes and when Roode gets up, Riddle hits a running knee and covers Roode for the pinfall.WINNER by pinfall: Matt Riddle (12:42) | 66POST-MATCH ATTACKAfter the match is over, Damian Priest and Finn Balor run down to the ring and attack Matt Riddle. Priest holds Riddle while Balor punches him in the stomach and the face. Priest drops Riddle with a chokeslam and then Balor hits the Coup de Grace three times. Riddle holds his ribs and screams in pain as Balor and Priest walk away looking satisfied. | 69 (nice)WWE WOMEN'S TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: DAMAGE CTRL (DAKOTA KAI & IYO SKYY) (C) |VS| ASUKA & ALEXA BLISSBayley is on commentary for this one and she keeps hinting that she has another woman coming in to join Damage CTRL but when she's pressed for more info from Corey Graves she acts innocent and tells him that he's looking for something that isn't there. In the ring it's a fairly standard tag match with the heels getting heat on Alexa until she's able to make the hot tag to Asuka. Asuka runs wilds on both heels and gets a near fall on Dakota. The babyface team takes control until Bayley leaves the announce table and injects herself into the match. She climbs up onto the apron and yells at Asuka. Asuka turns around to confront her and spits mist in Bayley's face. Bayley sells it but Asuka turns around into a version of the Shatter Machine by Dakota and Iyo. Dakota covers Asuka and gets the three count to retain.WINNERS and STILL WWE World Women's Tag Team Champions: Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai & IYO SKYY) | 59ON THE EDGE OF SOMETHING...Next up is a vignette featuring Edge. We haven't seen him on tv since Judgment Day injured him and his wife Beth Phoenix. In the vignette he is shown training at his home gym. His voiceover talks about how he is working tirelessly to be able to come back and get revenge. Edge says that the moment he is cleared by doctors to return to the ring he will be back. He doesn't know when it will be. But it will happen. And when it does -- Judgment Day will face their final judgement. | 97KEVIN OWENS |VS| BARON CORBINOwens talks trash to JBL to start and Corbin jumps him from behind. Corbin controls the match early but Owens turns it around with a short-arm clothesline and then takes over. At the finish, Owens hits a stunner and goes to cover Corbin but JBL interferes. Owens goes outside and gets in his face. Corbin tries to sneak attack Owens but Owens avoids it and Corbin boots JBL instead. Owen laughs at Corbin and gets him to chase him into the ring. Owens hits another Stunner and covers Corbin for the pinfall.WINNER by pinfall: Kevin Owens (6:48) | 63AN ATTACKAfter the match is over Owens is celebrating as he heads up the ramp. He stops on the stage to raise his arms in victory and suddenly he is jumped from behind by Omos. Omos grabs Owens by the throat and chokeslams him down onto the stage. He picks Owens back up and lifts him into the air and slams him into the steel around the entrance way. He drops Owens to the ground and KO arches his back and yells in pain. MVP steps out onto the stage with a microphone. He tells Owens that KO has a big mouth and MVP and Omos came here to shut it. MVP tells Owens that the ball is now in his court. Owens' response will determine how MVP and Omos respond back. | 58DOLPH ZIGGLER |VS| DOMINIK MYSTERIO w/RHEA RIPLEYDominik picks up a big win here in a good back-and-forth match. Ziggler hits a ZigZag but Rhea Ripley hops up onto the apron and distracts the referee. Ziggler starts yelling at her and gets rolled up for the pinfall.WINNER by pinfall: Dominik Mysterio (12:42) | 58LOGAN PAUL INSULTS FINN BALORNext up is a video recapping Logan Paul's recent podcast episode where he talked about his recent issues with Finn Balor. Paul says that Balor and his Judgment Day cronies are "tremendous assholes" backstage who walk around like they're big shots. Paul says that he's going to be in the Royal Rumble and he hopes he's in there around the same time as Balor so he can eliminate him. "If he gets mad at me for saying this he can meet me in the ring to try to shut me up. He can't do it." | 55CODY RHODES INJURY UPDATENext up is a vignette showing Cody Rhodes on "The Bump" from the previous Friday. Cody says he will not be able to compete in the Royal Rumble match but he is getting very close to returning and he's currently going crazy because he still hasn't been cleared to get back in the ring. | 70BOBBY LASHLEY |VS| DAMIAN PRIESTPriest is out first. He is accompanied by Finn Balor who gets on commentary and immediately addresses the Logan Paul segment from earlier. Balor says Paul is a punk and the next time Balor sees him he is going to slap the taste of out of his mouth. Lashley is next and during his usual entrance he is jumped by Priest. The two men brawl in the entrance way until they get to the ring. They get in the ring and have a good, hard-hitting match. Balor is too busy ranting about Logan Paul to get involved and Lashley wins clean with a spear. WINNER by pinfall: Bobby Lashley (11:51) | 58BECKY LYNCH PROMO INTERRUPTEDAfter a commercial break Becky Lynch is introduced and she comes down to the ring and starts to cut a promo. She talks about the Royal Rumble and announces that she will be entering the match and that she plans on becoming the first woman to win the Royal Rumble twice. Becky says that there isn't a woman in WWE who is better equipped with the skills necessary to win the Rum...suddenly she is jumped from behind. As Lynch falls to the mat we see Nikki Cross standing over her. Cross is kind of dressed like Sandy from Grease but with modern clothing. She almost doesn't look like the same Nikki Cross we see every week. Cross kicks Lynch in the ribs and then bends down and places a knee on her lower back and locks her in a Dragon Sleeper style hold. Becky is struggling to get out of the hold. Nikki eventually lets her go as road agents hit the ring. Nikki grabs the microphone and tells Becky that she'll see her at the Rumble. | 88A BACKSTAGE BRAWLKevin Patrick gets word of a brawl backstage and we cut a shot of the backstage area. The cameraman is running toward the scene and when he gets there we see Miz and Dexter Lumis brawling backstage. Miz seems to be trying to get away from Lumis and Dexter keeps pulling him back and trying to strangle him. Miz kicks Dexter in the groin and runs off. | 52MAIN EVENT --- SETH "FREAKIN'" ROLLINS |VS| AJ STYLESA pretty good tv main event that hits all the usual beats. AJ gets to shine early, Seth cuts him off with a mule kick which the referee doesn't see. Rollins controls the match for the next several minutes but AJ fights back and hits a dropkick when Seth tries for a flying crossbody and the match goes back-and-forth from there. AJ goes for the Phenomenal Forearm at one point but Seth connects with a flying knee to counter. Seth covers but AJ kicks out. Seth misses a curb stomp and AJ fights back and eventually hits the Styles Clash for a two count. AJ whips Seth into the corner and charges for a corner clothesline but Rollins moves out of the way. AJ hits the corner and Seth picks him up and sets him on the top turnbuckle. Superplex into Falcon Arrow does get the three count.WINNER by pinfall: Seth "Freakin'" Rollins (21:22) | 61FINALEAfter the match is over, Seth is celebrating his win in the ring. He looks down at AJ and AJ is slowly getting to his feet. Seth runs at him and Curb Stomps him. Seth bends down and begins to talk shit to him. Seth tells AJ that he's nothing without his friends. Seth says AJ disgusts him and he bends down to pick him up. But before he can Curb Stomp AJ again, The OC's music hits and Gallows and Anderson, who weren't expected to be in the building tonight, run down the ramp and toward the ring. Seth bails as soon as they slide into the ring. The OC help AJ up and check on him but it's a swerve as they then hit The Magic Killer on AJ. Seth begins laughing hysterically and climbs back into the ring. He hugs Gallows and Anderson and jumps up and down, celebrating like a maniac. He looks down at AJ and laughs. The three men stand over AJ and touch fists like The Shield used to do (which gets a ton of boos from the crowd) as the show goes off the air. | 70OVERALL RATING: 72-------WWE Royal RumbleSaturday -- Week 4 -- January 202340-Man Royal Rumble MatchLogan Paul -- 39 Other Participants To Be Announced30-Woman Royal Rumble MatchBecky Lynch -- Nikki Cross -- 28 Other Participants To Be AnnouncedWWE World Women's Championship MatchBianca BelAir (C) |VS| Rhea Ripley-------RAW Roster

Looking forward for this one, are you also going to book NXT? or just RAW and Smackdown I will be but in the interest of saving time for myself the recap will be less detailed and more of a quick recap than Raw and SmackDown will be. ===================== NXT On USA Network Tuesday -- Week 1 -- January 2023 Live! from WWE Performance Center
- The show opened with NXT Champion Bron Breakker cutting a promo in the ring. He was talking about his New Year's Resolution to go undefeated in 2023 when he was interrupted by Gable Steveson. Steveson told Bron that he respects him and thinks that Bron is great but Steveson has his eyes on that NXT Championship and it won't be long before he gets it. Bron goes to respond when the lights go out. They come back on and Joe Gacy and The Dyad are in the ring and they attack Bron and Steveson. The champion and the newcomer fight off the heels and Bron challenges them to a match tonight. Steveson interjects and offers to be Bron's partner and a tag match is made for the main event. | 48
- Blair Davenport defeated Aleah James (8:19) in a VISA On A Pole match. Aleah James will presumably be returning to NXT Europe when it launches in February. | 45
- After a commercial there's a shot of the announcers and they're discussing tonight's main event when Trick Williams shows up at ringside and starts yelling at Booker T. He is mad that Booker T ripped on him last week. Booker stands by what he said and Trick slaps him in the face. Booker lunges for him but Trick runs off and an angry, humiliated Booker T cuts a promo on Williams from the announce desk. | 65
- NXT Womens Champion Mandy Rose is backstage with Toxic Attraction. Jacy Jayne asks her about Roxanne Perez being named her opponent for NXT Vengeance Day. Mandy laughs and says that if her record breaking title reign were to come to an end at the hands of Roxanne Perez she'd be so embarrassed she'd never set foot in NXT again. | 56
- Veer Mahaan & Sanga beat Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen (4:39). Bit of a squash match despite the faces getting some offense in early. | 52
- Joe Gacy defeated Odyssey Jones (5:02) | 42
- Cameron Grimes cuts a promo backstage where he talks about his time in NXT. He says that despite the ups and downs he's loved every minute of it. But he feels he's ready to move on to bigger things and he has decided that he is going to do whatever it takes to get called up to the main roster. | 50
- JD McDonagh pinned Ikemen Jiro (6:18) | 55
- Apollo Crews defeated Axiom (11:09) | 58
- Backstage NXT North American Champion Wes Lee says that Dijak doesn't realize that Wes isn't a pushover and that at Vengeance Day, Wes is going to prove to the entire world that he is more than just a just athlete. | 39
- Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams are interviewed backstage. Trick tells Booker T that he's lucky he didn't slap him again. Carmelo tells Trick to cool it and says that Booker T is a legend. Then he laughs and says Booker T is really old and jealous that Hayes and Trick have both talent and youth on their side. Trick says Booker's jealousy is obvious. On commentary Booker says that he'd love to get in the ring and teach these guys a lesson but he'd need some time to prepare. But, he says, he does have someone in mind who could face Carmelo next week. He says he has to go make a phone call during the commercial break. | 64
- NXT Champion Bron Breakker & Gable Steveson beat The Dyad (13:38) when Steveson pins Fowler. The faces work well together and get a big win. | 51
- After the match Gable and Bron shake hands but Gable warns him again that he's coming for the title. Bron isn't happy but doesn't do anything. Steveson leaves to give Bron his moment but he's jumped by Grayson Waller, the #1 Contender, who lays Bron out with a chair shot. Steveson sees it and runs back in and chases Waller off and checks on Bron as the show goes off the air. | 54

WWE Friday Night SmackDownFriday -- Week 1 -- January 2023Live! from Chicago, ILROMAN MAKES A DECISIONThe show opens with The Bloodline coming down to the ring. Roman says that he is contractually obligated to defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Royal Rumble but here we are, almost three weeks away and he still does not know who that opponent will be. He says that it's unfair to him and extremely disrespectful to do this. This brings Adam Pearce out. Pearce says that earlier today he came up with a solution to this problem. Next week there will be a Six-Pack Challenge Match to determine Roman's opponent for the Royal Rumble. Pearce says that he will be announcing the participants soon. Roman asks if any of the Bloodline will be in the match and Pearce says that he hasn't finalized the lineup. Roman tells him that he could make up for keeping Roman in the dark about his opponent if he allows Roman to place one member of the Bloodline in the match. Pearce, feeling intimidated by the Bloodline, agrees. But he says he has to know right now who Reigns is putting in the match. Reigns looks back at the rest of the Bloodline. The Usos begin congratulating Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman and Sami Zayn begin to clap. Reigns then looks at back at the Bloodline again and says "Sami." Zayn looks like he's seen a ghost. He is in shock, as are the rest of the Bloodline. The Usos look confused, Heyman's mouth is wide open. Solo is stoic, as always, and doesn't react. Pearce says it's official, Sami Zayn will be the first person entered into the match. Pearce also announces that Braun Strowman will be in the match as well and that four more participants will be named before the show goes off the air tonight. | 77RICOCHET |VS| JINDER MAHAL After a commercial break we get our first match of the night. Jinder stalls a bit to start but eventually he and Ricochet get going. Ricochet shines to start but Jinder cuts him off with a knee to the stomach. Jinder controls the match and gets some heat on Ricochet before Ricochet gets his comeback started with a flying headscissors and eventually hits the 630 Senton for the win. WINNER by pinfall: Ricochet (8:09) | 61
A BACKSTAGE BRAWL The announcers pitch to the back where WWE Universal Women's Champion Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler are brawling with Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. Liv and Shayna are rolling around on the ground with Shayna trying to lock Liv in an armbar or something. Ronda and Raquel are taking turns punching each other until road agents and security rush in to break things up. During the brawl Ronda's belt falls off from around her waist and is laying on the ground. After the women are separated Liv Morgan sees the belt, bends down and picks it up and puts it around her waist. This angers Ronda who starts screaming for her to give the belt back but Liv walks off with it instead. | 53
ARRIVAL As the camera is filming the fight backstage we hear the noise of a car driving in and the camera man turns around to see a limousine pulling directly into the arena. The driver steps out and walks to the back door. The door is opened and nothing happens for a few seconds until finally we see a woman's leg stick out and then we see that CHARLOTTE FLAIR has arrived in the building. The crowd pops as Charlotte looks at the women brawling with a disgusted look on her face before taking a deep breath and smiling. | 70
KOFI KINGSTON |VS| LA KNIGHT Before the match the announcers mention that we will hear from Charlotte Flair later tonight. The New Day is out first. Xavier Woods gets on commentary and he confirms that both he and Kofi Kingston will be in the 2023 Royal Rumble Match. LA Knight is out next and he cuts a promo on Kofi as he walks to the ring. Once the bell rings we see that the goal of this one was to get LA Knight over. Kofi bumps all over the ring for him and makes Knight's offense look fantastic and in return LA Knight gives Kofi just enough offense to not look bad. Eventually Kofi goes to the top rope and goes for a missile dropkick but Knight moves and is able to pick Kofi up and hit his finish, the BFT, and get the pinfall victory. WINNER by pinfall: LA Knight (11:36) | 58
DREW MAKES A CHALLENGE Drew McIntyre is backstage with Kayla Braxton. He talks about his history in WWE and the championships he's won. He says he's been Intercontinental Champion once and he was a horrible champion. He says that he knows he'll eventually get another shot at Roman Reigns but right now he wants to focus on getting another chance to be Intercontinental Champion. Drew says he's officially challenging Gunther for a match. | 67
SHINSUKE NAKAMURA |VS| SHEAMUS Sheamus is out first and he sends Ridge Holland and Butch back to the locker room before he proceeds to the ring. Shinsuke's entrance gets a big pop but after an initial pose he runs down the aisle to the ring. He slides in and the two men immediately begin to brawl. They brawl around the ring and then Shinsuke clotheslines Sheamus to the outside. He goes for a baseball slide but Sheamus moves and clotheslines Shinsuke when he hits the floor. They brawl on the outside for a bit and then Sheamus goes for a Brogue Kick and Shinsuke ducks. Shinsuke hits a kick to Sheamus' head and staggers him. Shinsuke rolls him in and goes after him but Sheamus attacks with a headbutt and Shinsuke is staggered. Sheamus tries another Brogue Kick but Shinsuke moves and Sheamus ends up crotched on the top rope. Shinsuke goes for a flying knee but Sheamus gets his arms up and blocks it and, in a cool spot, headbutts Shinsuke again as Shinsuke's momentum takes him past Sheamus. Shinsuke hits the mat and seems to be out cold. Sheamus looks down and covers Shinsuke and gets the win. The announcers show the replay multiple times and Wade Barrett loses his shit over the headbutt. WINNER by pinfall: Sheamus (14:26) | 63
LEGADO DEL FANTASMA HYPE VIDEO Next up is a vignette hyping up LdF and explaining Santos Escobar's family history in lucha libre. Santos narrates the video and at the end he talks about honor and pride and the feeling of having the weight of his ancestors on his shoulders. Then he laughs and says that none of his ancestors were ever as talented as he is and that he looks forward to erasing their legacies and being the head of the family. | 30
#1 CONTENDER MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT Adam Pearce is backstage and he announces the next two competitors in next week's Six Pack Challenge. They are LA Knight and Sheamus. | 71
KARRION KROSS w/SCARLETT |VS| XAVIER WOODS Before the match it is announced that Karrion Kross has officially entered the Royal Rumble Match. Woods is without Kofi Kingston who the announcers say had to receive medical treatment after his match against LA Knight earlier. Woods puts up a valiant effort in this one but Kross is too much for him. Kross beats Woods around the ring for a bit before Woods gets another run going. But Woods goes for a springboard back elbow but Kross catches him and hits the Doomsday Saito suplex and pins him. WINNER by pinfall: Karrion Kross (7:33) | 51
SAMI IS UNSURE Backstage in the Bloodline's locker room Roman is on the phone talking to someone when Sami Zayn enters. Roman hangs up and stands up and greets Sami. He asks Sami what's up and Sami says he's having trouble processing why Roman picked him to be in the match next week. Roman tells Sami not to worry. Roman says he has a plan and that he'll fill Sami in on it once they know who the other five opponents will be. Sami thanks Roman for the opportunity and Roman tells him that he earned it and that he trusts Sami. Sami walks off and Paul Heyman tells Roman that he thinks he made the right choice. | 77
DREW MCINTYRE & REY MYSTERIO |VS| IMPERIUM W/GUNTHER This is the main event of the show and these guys worked like it. Before the match Adam Pearce announced that if Drew & Rey won they'd be in the Six Pack Challenge next week and if Imperium won then Gunther would be in the match along with a mystery entrant. Drew and Rey had really good chemistry as a team and it allowed them to execute some really fun double team moves. Imperium refused to be outshined though and they brought their work to another level as well. One of the big spots in this one saw Rey headscissor Giovanni Vinci toward Drew who hit him with a Claymore Kick for a near fall that Ludwig Kaiser broke up. Later on Imperium got a spot in where they tossed Rey into the air and took turns hitting European uppercuts as he came down to the mat. They did it three times and on the forth one, Drew recovered from a move he took earlier and dropped Imperium with a double clothesline to put an end to it. The finish of the match came when Rey and Vinci were both down on the mat. Vinci got to his corner first and tagged in Kaiser. Kaiser jumped in and saw Rey crawling to his corner and grabbed Rey's foot to drag him back into the middle of the ring. Rey reversed it into a drop toe hold that got Kaiser into position for the 619. He ran off the ropes and Vinci tried to clothesline him. McIntyre hopped into the ring and hit a Claymore Kick on Vinci just after Rey ducked the clothesline. Rey then hit the 619 on Kaiser and McIntyre turned around and hit Kaiser with the Claymore Kick as well and Rey covered him for the win. WINNERS by pinfall: Drew McIntyre & Rey Mysterio (16:33) | 68
POST-MATCH ATTACK After the match, Drew and Rey celebrated in the ring and Gunther slid in behind them. Rey turned around and ate a boot to the face. Drew turned around and Gunther kicked him in the midsection and then powerbombed him. Gunther held the Intercontinental Championship over his head as he stood over McIntyre and the announcers assumed this meant that he was accepting Drew's challenge. | 65
UNCLE HOWDY IS DEMANDING As Gunther stands over Drew in the ring the screen fades to black and then slowly fades in on Bray Wyatt. He's somewhere in the back, in a dimly lit room. Bray seems to be struggling with something as he keeps stopping mid sentence and restarting. It comes off as if he's cutting a promo poorly and has to keep stopping. He's trying to thank the fans for their concern when he was unable to be around the past couple weeks but he keeps getting distracted. He pulls at his hair and yells "NO! STOP!" as if he's having a breakdown. Suddenly the screen flashes with Uncle Howdy. He tells Bray to give in and finally do what he's been wanting to do all along. "This isn't you. Why are you pretending?" he asks. "Do it. Do it. Do it." he keeps repeating as Bray kicks the camera tripod over and it falls to the ground and breaks. Bray's boots are seen and he screams in agony as the segment ends and the show goes to commercial. | 87
SPOILING THE QUEEN'S RETURN After a commercial break the crowd was buzzing for the return of Charlotte Flair. After a few seconds of announcer hype Charlotte's music played and she came down to the ring to a big reaction. She was wearing a brand new robe and had an extravagant new entrance complete with pyro. She got in the ring and waited for the babyface reaction to die down before immediately revealing that she's a heel by thanking the crowd for finally shutting up so that the people at home could hear from the Queen of Wrestling. Charlotte talks about how she hasn't been around since she broke her arm in May. She says that most people probably expected her to come back with a grudge against Ronda Rousey but Charlotte doesn't hold a grudge. She says that she's forgiven Ronda because the time off for breaking her arm was the best thing to ever happen to Charlotte. She got married, she remembered how much she loved wrestling, but also she didn't have to be around the fans every single day. No autograph signings, no fat smelly losers bothering her at airports, and no drama queen Charlotte Flair wannabes in the back. Suddenly a sound like a microphone being tapped can be heard. Charlotte is caught off guard as she stops talking and looks around. Nothing else happens so she goes to continue when "Sky's The Limit" hits.
The crowd pops huge and the music plays for a couple seconds before SASHA BANKS finally comes out onto the stage. Charlotte is pissed as Sasha, moved to tears by the crowd's reaction, struts down to the ring with a microphone in hand. Sasha gets into the ring and asks the crowd if they missed her. The crowd goes crazy. Sasha thanks them for their support and says she's so excited to be back and then immediately turns her attention to Charlotte. Charlotte says "This is my moment, you bitch!" off the mic and Sasha mockingly smiles at her. Sasha is about to say something else when Charlotte charges and goes for a tackle but Sasha gets the best of her. They roll around on the mat and eventually Charlotte gets free from Sasha and exits the ring. Charlotte has a bloody lip and she notices it as she backs up the aisleway and screams at Sasha. Sasha poses for the crowd in the ring and the announcers put over that she's finally back in WWE as the show goes off the air. | 80

WEEK 2 -- JANUARY 2023
WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW Monday -- Week 2 -- January 2023 LIVE! from Detroit, MI
AN EXPLANATION The show opens with a video recapping some of what happened last week. The video focuses on Gallows and Anderson turning on AJ Styles and aligning with Seth Rollins. After the video and the Raw intro video we get right to the arena and Seth Rollins' music hits. He struts out onto the stage in his usual attire -- a ridiculous suit and a shit-eating grin -- he stops and looks back and Gallows and Anderson enter behind him. In a bit of humor they are dressed similarly to Seth Rollins. Gallows seems to love it but Anderson looks a bit self conscious. They finally get to the ring and after some stalling to annoy the crowd, Rollins begins his promo. He laughs and asks if the crowd remembers "When AJ Styles thought he had friends?" He laughs some more and says that AJ probably wants an explanation. So Rollins hands the microphone to Karl Anderson who admits that he and Gallows still like AJ. But they LOVE money. Seth came to them with an offer that was too good to pass up. So they agreed to watch his back. And it just so happens that AJ was trying to hurt the man they've been paid to protect. "Sorry AJ -- but it's just business." AJ Styles comes out in street clothes with no music. Road agents are trying to hold him back and the announcers mention that he wasn't supposed to be here tonight. AJ is screaming and pointing toward the ring. Eventually Byron Saxton runs out and hands AJ a microphone. AJ cuts a promo from the aisle. He says that he should have known better than to trust Gallows and Anderson. For as long as he's known them they've proven they'll do anything for money. AJ says he gets that. He understands Karl's motivation because he has a family too. And Gallows -- AJ says he knows how much Gallows enjoys booze. It should have been obvious. AJ says that it might be hard for some people to believe but he does have other friends. And if Seth and the OC want this to continue he'll just call on his other friends to step in and give him a hand. Anderson laughs and says that AJ doesn't have any friends who can just show up on Raw on a whim. His friends are either under contract somewhere or they're losers. AJ smiles and says that he's glad to know that they're underestimating him. AJ says he promised his wife he wouldn't end up in jail tonight. "See ya next week!" he says before walking away. After AJ leaves Seth Rollins says the real reason he came out here tonight was to announce that he's entering the Royal Rumble and that he's going to win it. | 69
CHAD GABLE |VS| ELIAS A glorified squash match that gives Gable a big win. The announcers mention that he's been on a roll lately. They talk him up so much that it feels like he's in-line for a big push. Otis is there with him and gets involved by tripping Elias at one point but Otis doesn't factor in on the finish, as it sees Elias go for a double axe handle from the 2nd turnbuckle but Gable dodges, goes behind Elias grabs a waistlock and German suplexes him in one motion. It looked so cool that they showed a replay of it. Elias smartly didn't kick out of the German suplex so that the big moment could be the finish. But maybe it was the planned finish. WINNER by pinfall: Chad Gable (10:26) | 59
THE BLOODLINE ARRIVE Outside the arena a limo pulls up and we see The Usos, Paul Heyman, Solo Sikoa, and Sami Zayn exit. The announcers talk about the Usos defending the tag team championship against the Street Profits tonight and we get a quick video recap from three weeks ago when the Street Profits won a tag team battle royal to earn the title shot tonight. | 66
BOBBY LASHLEY, JOHNNY GARGANO & DEXTER LUMIS |VS| BARON CORBIN, THE MIZ & ROBERT ROODE A weird, thrown together six-man tag that seems like it was done just to get these guys on the show but it ended up being pretty entertaining. The heels isolated Gargano to start. He got a hot tag to Lumis who got a near fall on Roode. Corbin got the tag and he had a face-off with Lumis that the fans seemed to be into. Corbin kicked Lumis in the dick and hit a ddt for a near fall. Lumis tagged Lashley in and Lashley ran wild. Lashley looked fantastic in this match. He was throwing people around and generally looking like a badass. The announcers kept talking about Lashley in the Royal Rumble so I guess that means he's confirmed for the match and it felt like this match was designed to get him over more than anything. This match went through a commercial break and when we came back Gargano was being worn down by Robert Roode. Roode tagged Miz in and Miz tried to humiliate Gargano but Johnny fought back and got the tag to Lashley again. Miz immediately tagged Corbin and the finish came when Lashley got Corbin in the Hurt Lock and the other four men in the match began brawling in the ring. Corbin couldn't break the hold and JBL tried but couldnt get the referee's attention and Corbin eventually tapped. WINNERS by submission: Bobby Lashley, Johnny Gargano & Dexter Lumis (20:48) | 58
POST-MATCH PROMO After the match The Miz grabs a mic and cuts a frustrated promo. He says he's an A-Lister and he's far too good for this shit. Losing like this, in matches that won't help him get to where he wants to be is something he can't stand. He says he needs to surround himself with winners, not Baron Corbin. He storms off. | 74
A REUNION OF SORTS Sami Zayn is walking around backstage. He turns a corner and almost literally runs into Kevin Owens. They stare at one another. KO finally breaks the silence by telling Sami that he should slap the taste out of his mouth for what happened at Survivor Series. KO says Sami is lucky they were...are...? best friends. Sami is shamed and says "Are. And you can go ahead and pop me once, as hard as you can. Go ahead." KO thinks about it but says no. He says that he thinks deep down inside Sami knows he was wrong and he knows that KO is right when he tells him to be wary of the Bloodline. KO says Sami already has family in WWE and he needs to remember who that family is before it's too late. Owens starts to walk off and Sami grabs him by the arm. Sami looks at KO and says "Yeah...it's the Bloodline." and then walks off leaving KO standing there looking pissed. | 71
BALOR HAS A REQUEST Cathy Kelley is backstage with Judgment Day. Balor starts the promo and immediately goes after Logan Paul. He says he was ready to give Paul the beating of a lifetime tonight but conveniently, Logan Paul isn't here tonight. Balor requests that Paul shows up next week and faces him like a man instead of running like a coward. Cathy asks Rhea about Bianca and last week and Rhea laughs. She says that Bianca isn't here tonight so when they have their confrontation later it'll be digital instead of physical. But unfortunately for Bianca, the match at Royal Rumble can't be held over Zoom. | 65
BECKY LYNCH |VS| NIKKI CROSS Nikki Cross is out first with her new look. The crowd gives her a pretty good heel reaction but goes absolutely ballistic when Becky Lynch's music hits. Becky storms down to the ring and slides in. Nikki attacks immediately. They brawl around the ring and Becky takes control. But Nikki cuts her off with a hair pull as Becky goes to run off the ropes. Nikki controls the match for the next few minutes but Becky Lynch eventually fights back when Nikki misses a spear. Becky hits the Manhandle Slam on Nikki and goes for a cover but suddenly DOUDROP slides into the ring and legdrops Becky in the back of the head. The referee calls for the bell. WINNER by DQ: Becky Lynch (10:11) | 64
POST-MATCH ATTACK AND PROMO After the bell rings Nikki and Doudrop attack Becky. They both lay into her with some stiff looking and sounding kicks and punches. Doudrop hits a Samoan Drop and Nikki goes to the second turnbuckle and hits a flying knee and Becky sells her throat. The heels laugh and begin to head to the back as the referee checks on Becky and calls for the medical staff. Byron Saxton runs down to the ring and asks to get a quick interview with Nikki and Doudrop. Doudrop yells at Byron and says her name is Piper Niven. Nikki cuts a crazy promo about how they're tired of Becky being given everything she wants because she's the star. Nikki and Piper are better wrestlers than Becky. Nikki asks why they don't get a tour bus. Nikki says she has pets that are like children to her -- why isn't she allowed to bring them with her? Why is Becky getting special treatment? Piper says that she too has entered the Royal Rumble and while she definitely plans to win it, she hopes to get to take a detour along the way to eliminate Becky Lynch. From the match and from WWE. The heels walk off as we see the medical staff helping Becky to her feet but still selling her neck/throat. | 66
CANDICE IS ATTACKED Candice LeRae is shown walking backstage. She is doing an interview with Cathy Kelley. The two women are walking toward the camera and as they pass a hallway Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky sneak attack Candice from behind. Cathy runs off, presumably to get help, while Dakota slams Candice into the wall and Iyo hits Candice with a spinning kick to the midsection. Dakota slams Candice off of a table and then ddts her on onto the concrete floor. Security rushes over to break it up as the WWE Womens Tag Team Champions admire their work and then walk off. | 46
WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: AUSTIN THEORY (C) |VS| ??? Austin Theory comes out and cuts a quick promo about having an open contract for tonight's match. He says that normally being unable to train for an opponent would be a huge problem but Austin Theory is the great all-around wrestler in the world. He says no one else has his combination of talent, physique, charisma, and youth. Before he can continue on ROB VAN DAM's music hits and the crowd pops as Mr. Monday Night comes out onto the stage and poses. RVD gets in the ring and the crowd chants his name. The match begins and RVD is on fire to start. He gets his usual offense in and has Theory reeling. Theory bails to the outside to regain his composure and RVD hits a plancha over the top rope onto Theory. They fight around the ring a little bit before RVD sends Theory back into the ring. RVD climbs back in and drops Theory with a brainbuster. He goes up to the top rope and goes for the Five Star Frog Splash but Theory gets his knees up. Theory takes over the match and eventually hits the ATL (cutter) and covers RVD for the victory. WINNER by pinfall and STILL WWE United States Champion: Austin Theory (9:41) | 66
DUAL SCREEN PROMO: RHEA AND BIANCA Next up is the dual screen interview that was promoted earlier. Bianca is not in the building tonight because she is nursing an injury from Rhea's attack on her last week. Rhea ignores Corey Graves' questions and mocks Bianca. Rhea calls Bianca soft and tells her that her reign is over at Royal Rumble. Bianca retorts that every time an opponent underestimates her they end up on their back on the mat. Rhea will be no different. Bianca says they came up together in NXT and Bianca considered Rhea a friend but now she realizes Rhea is a dangerous competitor who only cares about being the champion. Bianca says she's been exceeding expectations her whole life and that won't be any different at Royal Rumble. Rhea ends the segment by telling Bianca that she's going to swallow her whole and devour her soul. Bianca seems taken aback and Rhea laughs as the segment ends. | 70
GARGANO IS WORRIED Backstage Cathy Kelley is standing by with Candice LeRae in the physician's office. She asks Candice for a word about the attack and Candice says she just got a big lesson in how things are going to work around here going forward. Bianca getting jumped last week -- Becky Lynch getting attacked, now her. Candice realizes now what she has to do. Suddenly Johnny Gargano enters the picture to check on his wife. Candice tells him that she's sore but she'll be okay. Johnny says that she needs to consider how she's going to fight back and Candice says she's one step ahead of him. | 62
DOLPH ZIGGLER |VS| MUSTAFA ALI A weird face/face match that got made because of a tweet. Before the match the announcers showed Dolph's tweet where he said he was finally ready to return to the ring and wanted an opponent. Then we see Ali's reply where he accepts the challenge. Before the match we get in-set promos from both guys. Dolph says he's excited to be back but isn't sure that Ali was smart in accepting the challenge. Ali says he's done sitting on the sideline and letting others have opportunities and from now one he is going to take what he wants. Starting tonight. The match begins with some trash talking but a handshake anyway. The match starts with both men trying to outwrestle one another. The announcers put over Dolph's collegiate background and are pretty surprised when Ali holds his own. Eventually the mat wrestling turns to Dolph getting a side headlock on Ali. Ali shoves Dolph away into the ropes and the tempo of the match picks up. We get some typical rope run spots and then Ali gets a headscissors on Dolph. Dolph rolls under the ropes and to the outside to break the momentum and then Ali hits a suicide dive on Dolph. Ali and Dolph brawl outside for a second and then head back in. Ali controls the action and every time Dolph tries to mount a comeback Ali cuts him off. Dolph is frustrated and he starts to work more heelish as the match goes on. Ali keeps his foot on the gas and keeps taking it to Dolph and eventually gets him in position to hit his finish. Suddenly, Maryse runs out and climbs up onto the apron. The referee is distracted and it allows Miz to climb up on the apron on the other side of the ring and crotch Ali on the top turnbuckle. Dolph gets to his feet and hits a superplex and then covers Ali for the pinfall. WINNER by pinfall: Dolph Ziggler (9:19) | 58
AN ALLIANCE FORMED? After the match Dolph stands up and looks confused. Miz and Maryse get in the ring and we have a stand-off. Ali recovers and shoves Miz but Dolph walks up behind Ali and hits the ZigZag. Dolph and Miz laugh and hug before heading to the back having seemingly formed a team.| 68
KEVIN OWENS HAS A BACKSTAGE MEETING Backstage Byron Saxton is standing by with MVP and Omos. Saxton asks MVP about Omos' attack on Kevin Owens last week. MVP says that he's in the process of teaching Omos about picking and choosing your victims. KO is the perfect target for training because he cannot resist himself and will always...ALWAYS fight back. Suddenly Owens enters from the left. He tells MVP that if he's right about Owens fighting back. Owens slaps MVP and then immediately begins throwing punches at Omos. Omos grabs him by the throat and slams him up against a wall. Omos puts his forearm under Owens' chin and starts choking him until MVP tells him to stop. Omos stops and Owens collapses to the floor. MVP jabs him with his cane and then the heels walk off, leaving Owens recovering. | 70
UPDATE ON MATT RIDDLE Up next we get a recap video of the attack on Matt Riddle last week. After the video Kevin Patrick announces that Matt Riddle suffered "severely" bruised ribs and will be back soon -- as soon as he is cleared by WWE physicians. | 68
MAIN EVENT -- UNDISPUTED WWE WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: THE USOS (C) |VS| THE STREET PROFITS A really good, competitive main event. Both teams get lots of offense in and the Street Profits get a few near falls. All four men fight in the ring to start and eventually Dawkins and Jey are left in the ring. They go back and forth and then we get a double down following a double clothesline and a commercial break. After the break the Usos are in control, keeping Montez isolated in their corner. Jey Uso misses an avalanche in the corner and knocks Jimmy off the apron. Montez tags in Angelo Dawkins. Dawkins takes out Jey with a big boot and then hits a suicide dive on Jimmy. They brawl around ringside and then eventually back into the ring. The Usos take over again though when Dawkins misses a clothesline and gets hit with a double superkick. Now the Usos isolate him for a while but he eventually tags in Montez Ford who goes off on both Usos. The crowd is super into it as Montez almost singlehandedly wins the match for his team a couple times. In the end things start to break down for the Street Profits after Sami Zayn pulls the referee out of the ring during a pinfall attempt following a frog splash from Montez Ford. Ford and Dawkins start to have a breakdown in communications and Dawkins accidentally knocks Ford off the top rope. Zayn pulls Dawkins out of the ring under the ropes and the Usos hit a double big splash on him for the pinfall victory. WINNERS and STILL Undisputed WWE World Tag Team Champions: The Usos (25:44) | 67

- The show opens with a recap of the Bron Breakker/Gable Steveson/Grayson Waller stuff from last week. After the recap Grayson Waller is in the ring. He cuts a promo on Bron and Gable and challenges them to a match tonight. Bron and Gable against Waller and a partner of his choosing. Bron comes out onto the entrance way and says that he doesn't even know if Gable is in the building tonight but he'll accept that match either way. If Gable isn't here Bron says he'll find another partner. | 58
- Roderick Strong defeated Nathan Frazer by pinfall (9:39) | 71
- Dijak is in the ring with two jobbers. He's on the mic and talks about what he plans to do to Wes Lee at Vengeance Day. He demonstrates on the jobbers. First, a chokeslam. Then a powerbomb. Then a double superplex. He keeps escalating until he wraps his arms around both men's necks and lifts them up off the mat to choke them out. That's when Wes Lee rushes out with a chair to make the save. Dijak throws the jobbers down and goes for a big boot but Wes ducks it and slams the chair into Dijak's midsection. Wes Lee hits a springboard back elbow that knocks Dijak into the ropes. Lee then dropkicks Dijak over the top rope and Dijak flees to the back. | 66
- Booker T gets up from the announce table to go meet his choice for Carmelo Hayes' opponent. | 72
- The NXT Women's Tag Team Champions Kayden Carter and Katana Chance come out to the ring to cut a promo. They talk about their reign as tag team champions and talk about not having much competition right now in the women's tag team division. They mention Toxic Attraction but say they put them in their rear view mirror when they defeated them on the last NXT of 2022. It's 2023 now and they're looking forward to getting some fresh competition. This bring Zoey Starks out to the entrance way. Zoey says that she has great respect for the KCs. She likes them as people too -- "really, you two are absolute sweethearts" -- but then she quickly changes her tone and says that they are undeserving of being champions. Zoey says she worked so hard to come back from injury after injury only to see Kayden and Katana getting major time on NXT because they lucked into being womens tag champs during an era where there's no competition. Zoey says she is more deserving than both of them combined. Kayden tells her to get a partner and come at them. Suddenly Nikkita Lyons slides into the ring behind the champs and crushes Kayden with a steel chair. Katana turns around and Nikkita hits her in the ribs with the chair. Zoey Starks hits the ring and she and Nikkita lay out the champs. Zoey and Nikkita grab the belts and hold them high over their head. | 54
- Duke Hudson beats Scrypts (4:55) | 51
- Damon Kemp pinned Hank Walker (7:32) | 58
- McKenzie Mitchell interviews Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. Carmelo says he isn't concerned with Booker T's choice for his opponent because Booker T is a dumb old man who has no friends and couldn't find a good opponent for him if he was still in his prime. When asked if he has an idea of who Booker T has chosen, Trick Williams says Booker probably picked himself because he thinks he can still go. But tonight Carmelo Hayes is going to embarrass Booker T more than Booker's commentary does. | 70
- Ilja Dragunov defeated Javier Bernal (4:11) | 49
- After the match a masked man in all black hit the ring and attack Dragunov. | 68
- Kelly Kincaid was backstage with Bron Breakker and she asked if he had seen Gable Steveson yet. Bron said he hadn't but he wasn't concerned. Kincaid asked if he had a backup plan and Bron laughed and asked if he looked like someone who plans ahead. | 62
- Blair Davenport cuts a promo on running Aleah James out of NXT and America last week. She says that she's the best women's wrestler in the world and it offends her when other women portray themselves as the best because SHE's the best. If anyone in the locker room has a problem with that they should say it to her face and she'd be happy to run them off too. | 62
- A hype vignette airs promoting the upcoming NXT debut of HAMMERSTONE. | 63
- Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams come down to the ring and cut a promo on Booker T. Booker stands up at the commentary table and announces Carmelo's opponent...TOO COLD SCORPIO! | 66
- Too Cold Scorpio defeated Carmelo Hayes by DQ (6:25) after Trick Williams interfered. | 68
- After the match Booker T jumped into the ring to help Scorpio and Trick pulled pepper spray from his jacket and sprayed Booker. Hayes kicks Booker and picks him up for a suplex and turns it into a cutter. Trick holds Booker down and Hayes hits a frog splash on him. Scorpio gets to his feet and runs the heels off. Hayes and Williams laugh and celebrate as they head back up the aisle. | 74
- Roxanne Perez, Sarray, and Alba Fyre defeated Toxic Attraction (5:50) when Roxanne pinned Jacy Jayne. | 64
- After the match Mandy Rose laid out Roxanne Perez with a running NXT Womens Title belt to the back of the head. | 71
- Grayson Waller comes out to the ring for the main event. He cuts a promo making fun of Bron Breakker for being too stupid to find a partner. Bron Breakker comes out and asks who Waller's partner is and is suddenly jumped from behind by BRONSON REED! Reed drops Bron with a belly-to-belly suplex on the stage and then picks Bron up and beats him up as he walks him down to the ring. | 68
- Grayson Waller & Bronson Reed wrestled to a no contest with Bron Breakker & Gable Steveson (11:09) when both teams brawled through the crowd and into the parking lot. Steveson joined the match in progress. | 66
- Outside of the Performance Center, Grayson Waller tries to get in his car to escape Bron Breakker but Breakker spears him into the door, causing the door to bend backwards and break. Bron stands up, excited about what he just did and Bronson Reed appears and kicks Bron and then runs him head-first into the door's window. The window shatters and Bron collapses to the ground, holding his face. Bronson Reed stands over Bron laughing as the show goes off the air. | 64

Admittedly I’m not the biggest fan of the NXT talent getting released I typically don't like to release large numbers of talent like that but I felt like bloating the NXT roster defeats the purpose of NXT's existence -- letting guys work more and improve. So I went through and tried to cut the worst talent on the roster because I knew I was going to be signing a good number of people. Once I get the developmental system structured exactly as I intend I might try to bring some of them back because I'm a fan of a few of them in real life. ----------- WWE Friday Night SmackDown Friday -- Week 1 -- January 2023 Live! from Boston, MA
THE BLOODLINE DISCUSSES TONIGHT'S MAIN EVENT The show opens with the Bloodline coming down to the ring. Roman Reigns talks about the #1 Contender Match tonight. He says that he spent some time this week with the Wise Man (Paul Heyman) discussing strategy for the match tonight. He feels they have come up with the absolute best strategy possible to assure their goals are met. Roman says that now it's up to Sami Zayn to follow through. He asks Sami if he's ready and Sami says he's never been more ready for anything in his life. Roman smiles at this. He then says that after the show last week he took Solo Sikoa aside, put his arm around him, and promised him that he'd make it up to him for not picking him to be in the #1 contender match this week and now it's time to tell Solo what his consolation prize is. Reigns tells Solo that he will be in the Royal Rumble match this year. Solo is excited and thanks Roman for the opportunity. Roman is about to continue when suddenly JOHN CENA's music hits and the WWE legend comes out onto the stage. He laments not being selected to participate in the #1 Contender's Match tonight but says he does have some news of his own. He says that he is also entering the 40-man Royal Rumble Match this year. "See you -- or maybe Sami -- at WrestleMania, champ." Sami wants nothing to do with that and immediately starts waving his arms in protest and Reigns just smirks as the show goes to commercial. | 92
LOS LOTHARIOS |VS| THE NEW DAY Before the match the announcers recap the New Day's recent losing streak and talk about how they're looking to get back on the winning side tonight. This is a good opening match that keeps the crowd warmed up following the opening segment. New Day seems in control but Kofi misses a top rope dropkick and Angel Garza rolls him up for a small package and pins him out of nowhere. WINNERS by pinfall: Los Lotharios (5:54) | 52
LEGADO ISSUES A CHALLENGE A vignette shows Santos Escobar sitting at a large table. Cruz Del Toro sits to his left, Joaquin Wilde sits to his right and Zelina Vega is standing to his left, leaning on the table. Santos is wearing his signature suit and sunglasses. He takes off his sunglasses and begins to talk about legacy. His legacy, in WWE, has yet to be cemented. And when it comes time to take on a new challenge he always considers how it will reflect on his career when he retires. He says that for that reason he will be entering the 2023 Royal Rumble. But perhaps just as important, to Santos, is the idea that he can conquer a new territory that was previously foreign to him. Zelina takes over as Santos puts his sunglasses back on. Zelina says that Santos is dedicated to proving that he is not only the best Mexico has to offer, but the best the world has to offer. And so, on behalf of Santos Escobar and Legado del Fantasma, she is putting out a challenge to Shinsuke Nakamura to meet Santos in the ring as soon as possible so that Santos can prove that the greatest Japanese superstar in WWE history is nothing compared to him. | 52
THE BOSS IS BACK After a commercial break we get a static shot of the entrance way for a couple seconds until Sasha Banks' music hits. Banks, returning in her hometown, comes out onto the stage and takes in the crowd's reaction for a few seconds before strutting down to the ring. She gets in the ring and is about to speak but a chant of "WELCOME BACK!" prevents her from starting. Eventually she starts to speak. She says it's so great to finally be back. She says that a lot has changed in her life since she left last year. Sasha won't apologize for doing what she did and she has no regrets whatsoever. She says that she didn't exactly miss WWE as it was then, but she did miss her friends in the locker room. She missed competing in the ring. And most of all she missed the fans. She says her desire to compete along with a new regime here in WWE persuaded her to get back to the negotiating table and strike a new deal. Sasha says she won't be going anywhere for a long, long time and the crowd pops again. But tonight she's out here to thank the fans but also to announce that she is entering the Royal Rumble match. Before she can continue she is interrupted by Charlotte Flair. Charlotte is backstage and appears on the big screen. She yawns and tells Sasha that despite all the acting she did during her temper tantrum she didn't learn how to be entertaining when speaking to a live crowd. Charlotte tells Sasha that if she thinks she's going to waltz right back in here and be the top woman in WWE she's dead wrong. That's Charlotte's role and she isn't giving it up...ever. Charlotte says she is also entering the Royal Rumble and she hopes that Sasha isn't eliminated before she gets in the match because Charlotte wants to be the one to eliminate her. Sasha asks Charlotte why, if she's such a badass, she's appearing on the big screen instead of being out in the arena. Charlotte is incensed and walks off. Sasha laughs and says "We were all wondering that, right?" Suddenly Charlotte comes out onto the stage and storms down to the ring but road agents and security stop her from getting in the ring. The announcers mention that Charlotte isn't cleared for physical action yet and so WWE cannot allow her to get in the ring. Pat McAfee is pissed and says he thinks everyone wants to see Charlotte and Sasha go after each other. Charlotte is hauled to the back and Sasha starts thanking the crowd and blowing kisses and waving when suddenly she is attacked from behind by someone. The woman is significantly taller and larger than Sasha. She hits a spear on Sasha and then lifts Sasha up onto her shoulders and hits an F-5/Go To Sleep combination move. Sasha is out on the mat. Charlotte, watching from the stage, begins laughing and the woman turns toward the camera and we can see that it's the woman formerly known as KAMILLE! | 73
KARRION KROSS |VS| RIDDICK MOSS A short match. Not really a squash match because Moss got some offense in to start but then Kross steamrolled him and won with the Doomsday Saito Suplex. WINNER by pinfall: Karrion Kross (4:39) | 52
SHEAMUS ISN'T HAPPY Backstage, John Cena is shaking hands with staff and taking selfies with people when he suddenly stops and sticks his hand out. We see The Brawling Brutes enter from the right of the screen. Sheamus tells Cena to put his hand down. Cena asks what's wrong and Sheamus says that Cena thinking he can come back whenever he wants and act like he's the still the man is what's wrong. Sheamus says whether you like it or not Roman is the guy now and it's bad enough he's not here every week busting his arse like the rest of the roster but Cena isn't even really a member of the roster. Cena's a movie star who comes and goes when it's convenient for him. Nevermind that guys like Butch and Ridge Holland get tv time cut because movie star Cena has to come back and get his face on tv for a couple minutes. Cena says he understands why Sheamus is upset and he would be too if he was in Sheamus' shoes. Cena then cracks a joke about Sheamus being so pale that he's basically translucent and so people really can't see him. Sheamus tells Cena that he's "real frickin' funny" and Butch gets in Cena's face. Cena tells Sheamus to pull his lap dog back before Cena makes him his bitch. Butch shoves Cena and Cena goes to fight back but Adam Pearce steps in between them and tells them to cool it. Pearce says Cena asked for a warm-up match so how about Cena versus Butch next week on SmackDown? Cena agrees and the Brutes walk off as Cena barks at Butch. | 80
WWE UNIVERSAL WOMEN'S CHAMPION RONDA ROUSEY & SHAYNA BASZLER |VS| RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ & LIV MORGAN A chaotic brawl from start to finish. All four women brawl in the ring to start. Ronda and Raquel eventually fall to the outside and keep brawling out there. Inside the ring Shayna is trying to break Liv's arm with various arm holds but Liv keeps fighting out of it. Eventually things settle down and we get an actual tag match. Liv is isolated and sells pretty well for the heels. Ronda throws Liv down at one point and Liv crawls over to her corner and tags in Raquel. Raquel comes in and goes crazy. She lays out Ronda with a clothesline and then boots Shayna off the apron. Raquel picks Ronda up for a chokebomb but Ronda slides out of it and tags in Shayna. Ronda gets a drop toe hold on Raquel and Shayna drives a knee into the back of Raquel's neck. Shayna takes over and is quickly overtaken by Raquel. The finish comes when Raquel knocks Ronda off the apron and Liv hits a running cannonball senton onto Ronda as she stands up. In the ring Shayna tries for a rear naked choke on a standing Raquel but Raquel uses her ridiculous strength to spin Shayna around and hit the chokebomb on her and pin her for the win. WINNERS by pinfall: Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan (12:49) | 54
AN ATTACK AND A SAVE After the match Ronda and Shayna attack Raquel and Liv until Shotzi returns and makes the save. The announcers mention that we haven't seen Shotzi since Ronda nearly broke her arm a few weeks ago. Ronda and Shayna head to the back as Raquel stands in the ring and poses. | 51
BUTCH |VS| LUDWIG KAISER I expected more from this match but these two just didn't click for some reason. They told a good story but their timing seemed to be a bit off. The story was that Butch was trying to protect himself ahead of his match with Cena next week so he was wrestling a more defensive style and Kaiser was trolling him by pretending to attack but then backing off and goading Butch into attacking. When they finally started going it picked up but they didn't have a ton of time left so they had to go home rather quickly. Kaiser went for a lariat but Butch ducked and hit the Bitter End in one fluid motion. It looked awesome and got a big pop. WINNER by pinfall: Butch (11:06) | 56
ROMAN COMES TO THE RING After a commercial break Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns comes down to the ring with Paul Heyman. He takes a seat a ringside for the main event. | 87
SIX PACK CHALLENGE -- #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH: DREW McINTYRE |VS| REY MYSTERIO |VS| SHEAMUS |VS| BRAUN STROWMAN |VS| LA KNIGHT |VS| SAMI ZAYN Long, but really good main event. Typical multi-man WWE match in that guys lay out for portions of the match so that others can be spotlighted. Early on the other five competitors team up to take Braun Strowman and slam him through the announce desk. Sheamus and LA Knight take the time to throw as much plunder on top of him as possible to keep him down for as long as possible. Guys then pair off and start to have their own mini matches -- Drew and Sheamus brawl in the ring, LA Knight and Rey Mysterio fight on the outside and Sami Zayn kinda floats around. Sami is being very cerebral and taking his time to consider his every move. He constantly looks to Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman on the outside for their approval. As the match progresses, the Bloodline comes down to the ring and join Reigns and Heyman at ringside. One by one, the Bloodline starts to go after someone in the match. Solo goes after Sheamus. The Usos go after LA Knight. And Roman gets involved by attacking Drew. The plan becomes apparent. With all of the men in the match occupied, Sami is to find a way to get Rey Mysterio to win. In the ring Sami laid down and asked Rey to pin him but Rey didn't trust him and so he didn't. Sami started yelling at Rey. Then we had a cool spot where Braun came flying up out of the rubble of the announce desk and started to go after the Bloodline but Roman and the Usos cut him off. The Usos double superkick Braun and Roman spears him. In the ring, LA Knight comes in and attacks Sami from behind. LA Knight hits his finish on Rey and covers him but Sami breaks it up. Rey rolls to the outside and LA Knight and Sami brawl. Outside the Brawling Brutes run out to help Sheamus and the Brutes and McIntyre are brawling with the Bloodline. While this is happening, Kevin Owens hops the barricade and slides into the ring. He kicks LA Knight in the midsection and hits the Stunner on him. He tells Sami to cover him and Sami refuses, so Owens kicks Sami in the stomach and hits the Stunner on him too. Owens places Sami on top of LA Knight and the referee counts the pinfall. WINNER and #1 Contender for the Undisputed Universal Championship: Sami Zayn (19:38) | 62
A SHOCKING...CELEBRATION?
When the bell rings everyone stops fighting and looks around to see what just happened. Kevin Owens shrugs his shoulders and smiles and then bails from the ring and then through the crowd. In the ring, Sami Zayn isn't aware of what just happened as he comes to. The referee raises his arm in victory and Sami argues with him. Sami is shaking his head and saying "NO NO NO NO". A camera shot of the Bloodline members shows Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa laughing, Jimmy looking happy, Paul Heyman is shocked and Roman is stoic as always. Back in the ring Sami is beside himself in a mixture of fear and anger. Michael Cole is going crazy. "SAMI AND ROMAN! SAMI AND ROMAN! OH MY GOD! WILL THE BLOODLINE IMPLODE AT ROYAL RUMBLE?!?!?!" | 70
THE SECRETS THAT WE KEEP As the WWE copyright info appears on the bottom corner of the screen we quickly cut backstage to Bray Wyatt. Wyatt talks about how after his breakdown a couple weeks ago he's back to getting help for his demons. He says that we won't be seeing the bad side of his personality any longer as he's taken the proper steps to cut that aspect of him out of his life. Suddenly the screen goes to static and laughing is heard. We get a Max Headroom Incident style intrusion from Uncle Howdy. "Cut US out?! You can't cut us out! You are just the vessel! We are the life! Oh the secrets that we keep, when revealed they'll make us weep!" The show fades to black with Uncle Howdy once again laughing. | 89

WEEK 3 -- JANUARY 2023
WWE Monday Night RAW Monday -- Week 3 -- January 2023 LIVE! from Toronto, Canada
A HOMETOWN FAVORITE APPEARS The show opens with a static shot of the entrance way. No announcers or music or anything. "YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME" the crowd pops as "Metalingus" by Alter Bridge starts up and Edge makes his way out onto the stage. The crowd is going crazy for the hometown hero. He makes his way to the ring and slides in. He poses on the ropes and takes in the ovation for a few moments before getting a microphone from a production assistant at ringside. Every time he tries to talk the crowd cheers louder and he stops to take it in. He has tears in his eyes and he motions that he has goosebumps from their reaction. Eventually he thanks them for the ovation and says he's so excited to be back. He says that he's been sitting at home biding his time, working out, and doing his best to be fully healed before he came back. He says that not a day goes by where he doesn't fantasize about getting revenge on Judgment Day. He says it's become an obsession. He scares his wife by telling her about his ideas for getting back at them. Edge says that one thing he's learned in his career is that you can have more than one goal in your career. He says that when he returned he wanted one more run on top and he's been denied that so far. So he's entering the Royal Rumble match because it will give him a chance to go after Judgment Day AND give him a chance to earn another shot at the championship. He's interrupted by Austin Theory. Theory says he has a United States Championship open challenge tonight and Edge being out here whining about people being mean to him cuts into the amount of time Theory will have to mop the floor with whatever loser stepped up and signed the contract to face Theory tonight. Edge says that if Theory doesn't get out of his face, he'll find the guy who signed the contract and kick his ass and take his place. Theory disrespects Edge with some spooky fingers and Edge slaps him. Theory fires back with a right hand but Edge blocks it and hits him with one of his own. Theory takes the US title and tries to hit Edge with it but Edge ducks and spears Theory. Theory rolls out of the ring and Edge grabs the US Championship and holds the belt above his head as the show goes to commercial. | 70
THEORY HAS A REQUEST After the break Theory is walking around backstage looking for Adam Pearce. Theory sees Pearce's office and walks up to it. WWE agent Steve Corino makes an appearance tells him that Pearce is in a meeting right now. Theory doesn't care and tells Corino to move. Corino doesn't but Theory pushes past him and busts into the room. Pearce is on the phone and immediately puts one finger up to tell Theory to wait. Pearce says "I understand. Thank you, sir." And then hangs up. Theory immediately tells Pearce that he wants a match with Edge tonight. Pearce says he can't do that and Theory is apoplectic. "What do you mean you can't do that?!" Pearce looks at Theory and says simply "I've been relieved of my duties as acting GM of Raw. I can't make that match." Theory asks who is in charge but Pearce just shrugs. Pearce walks past Theory and out of the room and Theory tips over Pearce's desk out of anger. | 64
MAIN EVENT ANNOUNCED A graphic is shown on the screen for tonight's main event. It will be AJ Styles taking on Seth Rollins in a Street Fight. | 72
DOMINIK MYSTERIO |VS| ELIAS Quick match between two guys who have poor chemistry working together. The match is clunky and doesn't really go anywhere. Dominik wins clean with a frog splash. WINNER by pinfall: Dominik Mysterio (8:49) | 45
AJ TAKES A BEATING Next up the announcers pitch to...something...happening backstage. It turns out Anderson and Gallows are guiding a camera man to something. They turn a corner and Seth Rollins is standing over AJ Styles, having apparently laid him out. Rollins sees his new friends and starts laughing. Gallows bends down and asks AJ where his friends are. Rollins says AJ doesn't have any friends and can't do anything to stop Seth from kicking his ass every single week. | 77
BECKY LYNCH HYPE VIDEO Coming out of another break we get a Becky Lynch hype video. It details her WWE career and the focus is on how her main event run began -- with her becoming The Man and main eventing WrestleMania. Felt like they're trying to build her up for a Royal Rumble win or they're setting up some kind of storyline. | 79
THE STREET PROFITS |VS| CEDRIC ALEXANDER & SHELTON BENJAMIN As both teams are entering we get in-set promos from both teams. The Profits guarantee a win and Cedric and Shelton say that they both finally realized that if they want opportunities around here they need to be a team. The match itself is alright. Nothing special happens for most of the game. Cedric seems to twist his ankle or something at one point but he works through it and it doesn't hamper him too much. The finish comes with all four men in the ring. Montez goes to superkick Cedric but Shelton shoves Cedric out of the way and Angelo Dawkins eats the kick instead. Shelton tackles Montez and Cedric covers Dawkins for the win. WINNERS by pinfall: Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin (13:23) | 59
AN ARGUMENT After the match is over and Cedric and Shelton exit the ring. The Street Profits begin to argue, with Dawkins waving his hand at Montez to dismiss him and then turning his back and walking away from partner. | 63
FINN BALOR |VS| JOHNNY GARGANO Before the match it is announced that Johnny Gargano will be entering the Royal Rumble match. Candice LeRae comes out with her husband and Rhea Ripley joins Balor. These two are capable of so much more than they showed here. I'm not sure if they were holding back or just didn't click but this match was just alright. Balor worked over Gargano's ribs for most of the match and Gargano kept fighting back. At one point, Gargano hit a springboard ddt and gets a near fall. The match continued with both guys hitting some high spots. It goes through a commercial break and after the break Bayley and Damage CTRL come strolling down the ramp and begin to harass Candice. Johnny is distracted by this and it leads to Balor hitting the Sling Blade and then 1916 for the win. WINNER by pinfall: Finn Balor (19:18) | 50
A RETURN AND AN ATTACK After the match, Balor is celebrating his victory when Matt Riddle runs in from the back and tackles him. Riddle starts firing punches at Finn's face but Rhea Ripley grabs Finn and drags him under the ropes and out of the ring. Finn and Rhea head to the back and Riddle is in the ring looking livid. He gets on the mic and challenges Finn to a match next week on Raw. No DQ. Finn smiles and nods his head. | 68
NON-TITLE MATCH: WWE WOMEN'S WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS DAKOTA KAI & IYO SKY |VS| CANDICE LERAE & ??? Up next is the women's tag team championship match. After Riddle leaves, Damage CTRL climb into the ring as Candice is helping her husband to his feet. Bayley joins the commentary team. Candice's partner is revealed to be...ASUKA! The team of Candice and Asuka work pretty well together and the match itself is pretty good. They go about 12 minutes and the finish comes when Bayley hops up from the commentary table and tries to distract the faces. Asuka hits a baseball slide on her and then stands up but eats a kick to the side of the head from Dakota Kai. Dakota hits a suplex on Asuka and Iyo goes to the top for a moonsault but Candice pulls Asuka out of the way. Iyo hits the mat instead and Candice rolls her up in a small package for the pinfall. WINNERS by pinfall: Candice LeRae & Asuka (12:39) | 63
LAYFIELD TONIGHT! Next up is the first "episode" of Layfield Tonight! a pre-taped Fox News-style talking head opinion segment starring John "Bradshaw" Layfield. Layfield's segment tonight is on "Whiny, soft Gen Z losers" who "need to man up and learn how to work hard instead of expecting everyone to give them everything." JBL uses Logan Paul as an example of a guy who has never worked a day in his life and expects WWE to just hand him things like spots in the Royal Rumble or big matches on big events just because a bunch of morons think he's cool. JBL then says Baron Corbin is the best wrestler in WWE today and he doesn't get half as many chances to be in big matches as Logan Paul has. JBL says that Judgment Day hates Logan Paul, Corbin and JBL hate Logan Paul. Everyone hates Logan Paul! And JBL says that he can't wait to see Baron Corbin give Logan Paul the beating of a lifetime in the Royal Rumble match in 12 days. He then finishes with a segment called "What Happens Next" and he says what happens next is Baron Corbin winning the Royal Rumble and going to WrestleMania to become the next Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. | 72
ROYAL RUMBLE UPDATE Byron Saxton is standing by in a studio designed to look like the old WWF Control Room set. He's here to give us an update on where the card for Royal Rumble stands 12 days from the event. He starts off by giving a rundown of the current card: Reigns vs Zayn for the Universal title; Belair vs Rhea for the WWE World Womens title. When discussing the two Royal Rumble matches, Saxton announces some new participants for each match. For the men's match: Bobby Lashley, Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Kevin Owens, and Baron Corbin. For the women's match: Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, and Mia Yim. | 68
WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP OPEN CHALLENGE Austin Theory comes out to no music and takes the mic from the ring announcer. He says that with Adam Pearce getting fired there's no one backstage to sanction the match he wants with Edge. He says that he was supposed to have this US Open Challenge tonight but he really really really wants Edge to answer it. But instead it's CAMERON GRIMES who slides in the ring behind Theory and attacks him. The announcers don't think Grimes is even officially a member of the main roster. Grimes absolutely blisters Theory and destroys him with his finish. As Theory is laying on the mat Grimes is screaming and jumping up and down for a referee. Finally a referee rushes out and calls the bell to begin. Theory slowly stands up and is immediately hit with the Cave-In and covered for the pinfall. WINNER by pinfall and NEW WWE United States Champion: Cameron Grimes (0:21) | 62 (not a match in game -- ran as a segment)
GRIMES CELEBRATES Grimes is handed the belt and he holds it, hugs it, and then runs around posing with it. He runs into the crowd and the people who are familiar with him chant his catchphrase "...TO THE MOON!" As Grimes celebrates, Edge comes out onto the stage and mockingly claps at Theory, who is getting to his feet. Judgment Day come out and attack Edge on the stage, with Priest chokeslamming him onto the steel stage. Theory laughs hysterically as the show fades to commercial. | 71 A CONTINUED BEATING After the break Judgment Day has Edge in the back. Priest is holding Edge's arms behind his back and Balor, Dominik, and Rhea are taking turns punching, kicking, or slapping Edge. Balor gets in Edge's face and tells him that he doesn't have to wait until Royal Rumble -- he can fight them now. He starts yelling for Edge to fight back. Edge tries to kick Balor but he backs away. The lights in the room flicker and the heels look around to see what's going on. Suddenly they go out completely and a struggle can be heard. Things go silent and a door opens and light can be see seen coming in from outside. After a moment of quiet the lights turn on and a staggered Rhea Ripley is standing by the light switch. The camera pans the room to show Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio all laid out unconscious on the floor. | 84
NO ONE CAN BEAT OMOS MVP is in the back with Byron Saxton. Omos is standing behind both of them and MVP cuts a really good promo about how there isn't anyone in WWE who can beat Omos and that's why he never gets a real chance. So at the Royal Rumble Omos is going to come down to the ring and throw out as many people as it takes for him to earn a chance to prove he's the best. Suddenly he's interrupted by Kevin Owens. Owens takes exception to MVP saying no one can beat him. Owens can. Owens knows he can. And he wants to prove it next week. Before MVP can accept, Omos grabs Owens by the throat, lifts him up and slams him into the wall. MVP and Omos walk off with MVP telling KO he'd see him next week. | 72
MYSTERY VIGNETTE Next up is a Game Of Thrones-style hype vignette for an apparently soon-to-debut wrestler. An older woman with a British accent narrates a story about a unknown knight who saved his kingdom from a dragon. Crude medieval-style drawings and words spelled out in fire are used to illustrate the story. The story ends with the man dying but his lineage living on. | 41
MAIN EVENT -- STREET FIGHT: SETH FREAKIN' ROLLINS |VS| AJ STYLES The main event begins with AJ attacking Seth during Seth's entrance. AJ rushes Seth as soon as he comes out onto the stage. AJ kicks Seth in the stomach and then hits a running knee. He slams Seth into the LCD lightboard. AJ beats Seth all the way down to the ring. Once at ringside AJ powerbombs Seth onto the steel steps. Gallows and Anderson come down to the ring and AJ grabs a chair to wait for them. They climb in the ring and he lights Gallows up with a chair. Anderson grabs the chair from AJ and swings it but AJ dropkicks him back into the corner and hits a running forearm. AJ stands tall as the show goes to commercial. After commercial Gallows and Anderson have been sent to the back and the referee is checking to see if Seth can continue. He does and the resulting main event is really good. Seth and AJ have a hard-hitting brawl with numerous near falls. They go through another commercial break and then when the show comes back they begin working to the finish. Gallows and Anderson come back out. AJ takes out Anderson right away by hitting him with a baseball slide that knocks him into the barricade. At one point Seth ends up on the apron and AJ dropkicks him and Gallows catches him. AJ takes them both out with a suicide dive. They brawl outside and eventually Gallows and Anderson are holding AJ down on the announce table. Seth goes to the top rope and is about to come off when suddenly "ADRENALINE...IN MY SOUL..." CODY RHODES' music hits and the crowd pops. Seth is stunned and drops to the mat. Gallows and Anderson get in the ring to stand beside Seth. The music plays but nothing happens at first. The distraction allows AJ to grab a chair and get back in the ring. He levels Gallows and Anderson in the back with the chair. Seth turns around and AJ throws the chair at him. He catches it and AJ kicks him in the midsection. Seth drops the chair and AJ hits the Styles Clash on Seth onto the chair. Styles covers Seth for the win. WINNER by pinfall: AJ Styles (24:49) | 68
POST-MATCH HAPPENINGS AJ celebrates on the stage. In the ring, Gallows and Anderson help Seth to his feet. They give Seth a microphone and Seth cuts a funny promo where he groggily asks where Cody is. Cody eventually appears -- on the big screen. He says hello to Seth, Karl, and Luke. He tells Seth that he wanted to say hello now because the next time they see each other -- in 12 days -- Cody and Seth will both be vying for the same thing, a Royal Rumble win. "See you at the Rumble, Seth." Cody says and he waves at the camera as the show goes off the air. | 83
