One "black eye" after another, it was clear, AEW no longer was in the honeymoon stage with the fans. The demise of Vince McMahon and the rise of HHH was changing how fans looked at WWE at the worst time. As the controversies escalated, a meeting was called with Tony Khan and his father Shahid Khan to make plans for the future. Plans had been made in August to divest Tony of some of his responsibilities, new roles were created with capable people filling those roles, but this was the next step. While Tony would main his role as CEO and be the main force behind all financial decisions, someone would be taking on the production roles for the company. With everything looking so bleak, one ray of hope came with the announcement that one Michael Mansury would be joining the company with the titles of Senior Vice President and Co-Executive Producer. After having worked his way up through the production ranks in WWE, it had been assumed that Mansury would replace Kevin Dunn as the head of production in WWE, but instead he left the company to do other things. Stating that he felt he had unfinished business in the wrestling industry he came to AEW while Tony Khan would be responsible for leading the production and creative of Ring of Honor still. In AEW, Mansury would be working with a booking committee led by Lance Storm, Scott "Raven" Levy, and Jake Roberts and a team of coaches, Mansury was given the authority to do what he felt was needed to take AEW to the next level. First steps begin in December, with the advertising of a "new" AEW to begin with the Dynamite on January 4, 2023.
OOC: Okay, so this is going to be a bit different for me as I attempt a modern day mod for the first time. As someone who prefers "the alternative" to WWE, I fell in love with AEW, but have struggled with all the backstage drama in the last few months. So my plan with this is to try and find some way to bring back that love, while hoping that the real AEW can do the same. This means the end(?) of my other AEW diary, but my 1992 diary WILL continue. My plan for this diary is that it will mostly focus on AEW, although I am playing as a two person mod so that I can manipulate ROH and will post ROH PPVs. You will get to see what is going on in ROH though in a feature that you will see develop in the coming months. In order to try and make this as realistic as possible, once I have caught up to the present day, I will be posting once a week so that I can keep things like debuts, returns etc. as realistic as possible. With that said, wrestlers who are not on exclusive contracts are fair game. I hope that all makes sense, it is late at night, and I am watching Black Adam at the same time so my brain is divided.
