The year is 1994.
Herb Abrams has loved professional wrestling for as long as he can remember. He also loves money. He also loves the notion of being famous.
Over the years he's even made friends with individuals in the business. Perhaps the most important of those friends in our story is Paul Heyman, known to the fans as Paul E. Dangerously.
Our story starts with a phone call...
With Heyman's inside knowledge of the business, Abrams formed a business plan and made handshake deals with talent he wanted to feature. He met with executives at Sportschannel America to make his pitch and by the time their negotiations concluded, Herb Abrams was provided finances to produce a television series for what he touted to the executives as "the next big thing in professional wrestling".
Thus the UWF was born.
OOC: My ROH diary isn't going anywhere. It's going to be the diary I proritize and is going to stay more within the realms of reality. This will be my "go crazy" diary where I'm having fun and it goes wherever it goes. I've been wanting to mess around with some alternate timeline type stuff in TEW. While WCW living on in 2001 can be fun (and I've played it out before in TEW2013/2016) it seems to be more frequently used for diaries. Instead I decided to build a mostly unrealistic alternate timeline version of UWF. FAQ:
Q: Does Herb Abrams still do excessive amounts of cocaine?

Q: Will Herb Abrams sign workers he had no chance in hell of obtaining in real life?
A: Also yes

A herb Abrams uwf btb? Interesting. They did have a lot of established stars in the beginning like Billy Jack haynes, Bob Orton jr., Brian blair,Blair, cactus jack, colonel debeers, Dan Spivey, bruno and his son David sammartino, Don muraco, Ivan koloff, Ken patera,Paul orndorff, Steve williams and Louie spiccoli. And now you have Paul heyman as a co-owner or at least a booker? This could be good.
You know Jim cornette's smokey mountain wrestling is starting up the time asuwf, maybe you could look out for a partnership with him? You know try and get guys that started out their like Glenn jacobs(kane), chris candido and Tammy sunny sytch, balls Mahoney and the thrill seekers chris Jericho and Lance storm
They also had a partnership with a female wrestling promotion call ladies major league wrestling so if you want you could use that to get girls like Selina majors(bambi), luna Vachon, Peggy lee leather, Rockin robin, malia hosaka and the glamor girls judy Martin and lelani kai.
And try to make sure the matches have decisive finishes. No dq's, countouts, double countouts, or double dq's. That was sort off a problem according to wrestling with wregret. And keep the titles to a minimum, only 4 would be needed instead tof the sixteen or so they had in real life. Make them a world title, a person of tag titles, a television title and a women's title. That's all and your golden.

"Herb... it's 1 AM... the commercial has been airing all day. Yes... I've seen it. I'm going back to bed."
"Wait wait wait -- did you hear from our secret weapon yet? I'm dying over here. I kinda promised those execs at Sportschannel we'd have him for the first round of tapings."
"Herb... you've gotta check your messages. I left a message on your answering machine just before dinner time. He's in. We've got him."

"The venue is a done deal! If Vince doesn't want to use the Manhattan Center for his TV show, I'll gladly do so! Our first tapings are set for February 19th and 20th and the first episode of UWF Electricity will air on Monday March 7th!""And all but two talents we've discussed have put pen to paper."
