Things continue to look bright for Preston as we approach the end of the first half of the league. A question I need to make: does League Simulator actually gives you the details about chances and goal scoring minutes now? Yeah, if you do the single match sim and click the grey/blue box in the bottom left corner, it shows: goals, shots on target, possession and goal scoring minutes. If you have players it also shows goal scorers and top 3 players.

I feel that my intelligence just got self-attacked. That's going to be very useful, really. Thanks!

Week 11 Probably a slightly disappoint result for either side who can't find the first half, with West Brom breaking the deadlock in the 70th minute, only for Bolton to score in the 89th and split the points.
Accrington 2 - 1 Notts County Burnley 3 - 3 Aston Villa Derby County 1 - 1 Everton Preston North End 3 - 1 Blackburn Rovers Stoke 0 - 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers
A week of draws, including our first 0-0 draw at Victoria Ground means Preston gain a point on everyone thanks to their win over Blackburn. Lots of disappointed clubs at the top of the table.
Week 12
Wolves hopes of a title challenge were definitely ended here as despite coming into half-time tied with a goal each, Preston outplay their opponents in the second half, capping it off with a third goal in the half in the 89th minute.
Stoke 1 - 2 Bolton Wanderers Derby County 3 - 2 Blackburn Rovers Burnley 1 - 2 Everton Accrington 1 - 3 Aston Villa Notts County 1 - 0 West Bromwich Albion

Week 13 & 14 Preview
Week 13 West Bromwich Albion vs. Stoke Bolton Wanderers vs. Preston North End Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Derby County Blackburn Rovers vs. Burnley Everton vs. Accrington Highlight: Aston Villa vs. Notts County
Highlight: Despite being within the battle for top spots, Aston Villa have been on a bit of a run where they choke out in matches against the lower teams and Notts County having beaten Preston before could continue this trend in their visit to Wellington Road.
Week 14
Preston North End vs. Stoke Highlight: Derby County vs. Bolton Wanderers Burnley vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Accrington vs. Blackburn Rovers Notts County vs. Everton Aston Villa vs. West Bromwich Albion Highlight: Shockingly, Derby haven't actually lost a match since week 6 and having only lost to Bolton by a single goal in their last encounter, could this be the match at the Derby Cricket Ground be the match that helps pull Derby clear of a re-election battle?

Week 13 An fairly unsurprising result as Aston Villa dominate Notts County and win following goals in the 8th, 26th and 71st minute.
West Bromwich Albion 1 - 0 Stoke Bolton Wanderers 2 - 1 Preston North End Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 - 0 Derby County Blackburn Rovers 2 - 0 Burnley Everton 4 - 1 Accrington
A terrible result for Accrington as they start to fall away from the top of the table while a big win for Bolton over Preston puts them right in the mix for a high finish this season. A forth win of the season for Blackburn could be vital as it pulls them off the bottom of the table
Week 14
Bolton's run of good form continues as Derby don't have a single shot on target all game, with 2 goals in the second half giving Bolton a well deserved victory.
Preston North End 2 - 1 Stoke Burnley 0 - 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers Accrington 3 - 0 Blackburn Rovers Notts County 1 - 2 Everton Aston Villa 2 - 0 West Bromwich Albion
Nothing major to say here, most results produce the expected winner and an important win for Villa starts to push West Brom away from the 2nd place race and while I'm sure we all knew it was coming, Stoke become statistically unable to win

Week 15 In a critical match for both teams, Wolves take an early lead with a 10th minute goal. Going into half time they hold on but in the 58th minute Accrington equalise and the teams are forced to split the points at Dudley Road, dropping Wolves all the way down to 4th in the table. In other news:
West Bromwich Albion 0 - 1 Preston North End Stoke 1 - 1 Derby County Bolton Wanderers 3 - 0 Burnley Blackburn Rovers 1 - 1 Notts County Everton 0 - 1 Aston Villa
As with these results, Blackburn Rovers, Notts County and Burnley are officially unable to win the league following Blackburn's first draw of the whole season and Burnley getting dominated by an on-form Bolton side.
Week 16
A rather dull affair in all honestly as Stoke secure the win with a goal in the 8th minute pulling themselves off the bottom of the table as they move ahead of Burnley on goal difference.
Derby County 0 - 2 Preston North End Accrington 0 - 2 Bolton Wanderers Notts County 0 - 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers Aston Villa 0 - 3 Blackburn Rovers Everton 1 - 0 West Bromwich Albion
Notts County's goalie shows impressive form, stopping at least 4 good chances by Wolverhampton to force a bore draw against Wolves. Preston's win over Derby officially ends their title hopes if there was any. West Brom also become unable to win following a loss at Anfield. Blackburn surprisingly batter Villa, holding off many good shots and scoring all their chances.

Week 17
West Bromwich Albion vs. Derby County Preston North End vs. Burnley Stoke vs. Accrington Bolton Wanderers vs. Notts County Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Aston Villa Highlight: Blackburn Rovers vs. Everton
Highlight: This match could have major ramifications for the re-election battle as if Blackburn win they either overtake Derby or will be right on the heels of West Brom. Expect Everton to put up some resistance as they visit Leamington Road.
Week 18 Burnley vs. Derby County Accrington vs. Preston North End Notts County vs. Stoke Highlight: Aston Villa vs. Bolton Wanderers Everton vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Blackburn Rovers vs. West Bromwich Albion
Highlight: Sitting 2nd and 4th in the table, this match will be important for both teams in trying to get the highest league position as whoever wins will probably finish highest. Also likely to be the most exciting match on the week.

Week 17 In a game with plenty of chances, neither Everton nor Blackburn can come away with the win, leaving the teams to accept a draw. Frustrating for Everton, but for Blackburn it is enough to pull them out from the re-election zone
West Bromwich Albion 1 - 0 Derby County Preston North End 2 - 0 Burnley Stoke 2 - 2 Accrington Bolton Wanderers 3 - 0 Notts County Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 - 1 Aston Villa
Derby find themselves unlucky not to get points against West Brom while Notts County find themselves completely dominated by Bolton.
Week 18
Aston Villa clearly out-class Bolton as they move within the hunt for second place, sitting only a single point behind after the result of this match. Villa score in the 40th and 88th minute to win.
Burnley 4 - 1 Derby County Accrington 1 - 2 Preston North End Notts County 3 - 1 Stoke Everton 1 - 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Blackburn Rovers 1 - 0 West Bromwich Albion
An even first half at Turf Moor quickly changes as Burnley blast another 3 past Derby to claim all three points. Any chance Accrington or Everton had of winning the title is ended as Preston claim the win at Thorneyholme Road. Notts County move to the edge of safety but are still off by 2 points after Blackburn also win. Wolves loss to Everton officially knocks them out of contention for the title. By this point 5 teams (Preston, Bolton, Villa, Wolves and Everton) have all confirmed their spots for the 1889/90 season.

With a month remaining until the end of the season and a little longer until the election process, the 9 teams who will be seeking election have been confirmed as: Birmingham St George's, Bootle, Grimsby Town, Newton Heath, South Shore, Sunderland, Sunderland Albion, Walsall Town Swifts and The Wednesday
Week 19 & 20 Preview
Week 19
Highlight: West Bromwich Albion vs. Burnley Derby County vs. Accrington Preston North End vs. Notts County Stoke vs. Aston Villa Bolton Wanderers vs. Everton Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Blackburn Rovers
Highlight: West Brom need a win here to avoid being dragged into the re-election scrap that is happening below them as many teams seem to have been re-invigorated in their attempts to guarantee their spot in the league, including Burnley who will be looking at this game to be potentially vital points.
Week 20
Accrington vs. Burnley Notts County vs. Derby County Highlight: Aston Villa vs. Preston North End Everton vs. Stoke Blackburn Rovers vs. Bolton Wanderers Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. West Bromwich Albion
Highlight: Expected to be the game that wins Preston the title, Aston Villa will need to bring their A game to prevent that from happening as they take on the league leaders at Wellington Road.

Week 19 Burnley take a lead in this make in the 59th minute, looking as if they could take the win here and properly drag West Brom into the re-election battle but goals by West Brom in the 74th and 89th minutes see them take the lead and walk out with the points.
Derby County 1 - 0 Accrington Preston North End 5 - 0 Notts County Stoke 0 - 2 Aston Villa Bolton Wanderers 2 - 0 Everton Wolverhampton Wanderers 3 - 1 Blackburn Rovers
Derby County look the better team as they host Accrington, who are continuing their horrendous run after initially looking as if they could be title contenders. Notts County fail to get a single shot off and barely see the ball as they are smashed at Deepdale with Preston clearly eager not to repeat the results of the teams' previous encounter. Stoke find themselves unlucky to not get a draw as a bad stretch between the 70th to 80th minutes sees Villa slip 2 past them and Bolton dominate Everton to remain in 2nd.
Week 20
Wellington Road sees the officially crowning of the team who looked clear favourites to win officially becoming the Football League's first ever Champions as Preston don't even allow Aston Villa to get a single clear shot off and put two past them. A crowning moment to end a near-perfect season for Preston.
Accrington 3 - 0 Burnley
Notts County 2 - 3 Derby County Everton 1 - 0 Stoke Blackburn Rovers 4 - 0 Bolton Wanderers Wolverhampton Wanderers 1 - 0 West Bromwich Albion
Accrington confirm their spot in the 89/90 season with a dominant display that confirms what Burnley fans have likely fear as they will be put up to vote for re-election at the upcoming AGM. An exciting match at Trent Bridge sees Derby go 2-0 up, with Notts scoring on the edge of half time. Midway through the first half Notts would equalise but a late winner by Derby puts them on the verge of safety. Stoke are also officially forced to go to re-election by Everton during their visit to Anfield. Blackburn pull off a dominant display against Bolton, keeping them in 8th place and above re-election on goal difference. Finding themselves unable to win at Dudley Road, West Brom are left needing at least one win to confirm their safety.

Week 21 Highlight: Accrington vs. West Bromwich Albion Burnley vs. Notts County Derby County vs. Aston Villa Preston North End vs. Everton Stoke vs. Blackburn Rovers Bolton Wanderers vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers
Highlight: It's gone very poorly for West Bromwich Albion as an on form Derby and Blackburn threaten to drag them into the re-election battle as they stand only two points clear. A win at Thorneyholme would likely keep them safe, while a loss would see them forced into a final day re-election scrap.

Week 21 A game in which West Bromwich Albion deserved more than a single goal in this game where they were clearly the better side and scored a 65th minute goal to confirm their place in the Football League next season.
Burnley 1 - 3 Notts County Derby County 1 - 1 Aston Villa Preston North End 1 - 0 Everton Stoke 1 - 2 Blackburn Rovers Bolton Wanderers 0 - 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
West Brom aren't the only team unlucky not to win by more as both Preston and Wolves look much better than their opponents despite the 1-0 scoreline. Despite a good win, Notts County are still forced to face re-election as they lack the points needed to catch Blackburn. The race for 2nd place also becomes incredibly tight as Bolton, Wolves and Villa are tied on 27 points, with Aston Villa sitting highest on goal difference.
But the most exciting is the re-election battle as Derby sit a single point behind Blackburn. With Blackburn set to face Preston on the final day, while Derby face Everton there is a possibility this could go either way.
Week 22
Derby County go into the re-election zone with a bit of a whimper as Everton put two goals past them in the first half to hand Blackburn safety.
Notts County 1 - 1 Accrington Aston Villa 0 - 2 Burnley Blackburn Rovers 1 - 1 Preston North End Wolverhampton Wanderers 1 - 0 Stoke West Bromwich Albion 2 - 0 Bolton Wanderers
Accrington find themselves unlucky to win against Notts County, while Aston Villa are robbed of points in an even game. Blackburn secure safety without having to worry about Derby's result with a shocking draw against Preston where the team was 3 minutes from winning the match. In their final ever match at Dudley Road, Wolverhampton Wanderers defeat Stoke with an added time winner despite being dominant all game and Bolton lose their final match of the season against West Brom.

So with the season over this will have a bit of a break until next season starts for some house keeping. Tomorrow, I'll post a link to a Google Form for people to vote as members at the AGM (allowing you to select which teams will compete next season) alongside a short summary of the thirteen candidate teams. This will be kept open for around week to allow anyone interested a chance to vote before I post a pre-season summary and then we'll get the next season going. For those interested, this is what the actual league table looked like: And this is a link to a gallery for the whole 1888/89 Season. Thank you to everyone who has been reading along so far, I hope you have enjoyed

Great job, mate! Your standings aren't very far off the real ones, but there are some changes, which is cool. It's realistic and revolutionary in the same time. Now... you have some 130+ seasons to go!
