CHAPTER 1: Back with a BANG!
I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know a damn thing about owning a wrestlin’ company. But I ain’t the type of cat to back down from a challenge either. Heck, when I told people that I was going to become a wrestler, they fell down laughing. Most careers start winding down at 35, and there was me in the Power Plant with guys in their ‘20s. Four years later, I won my first World Championship, so I must have done something right.
When I heard that Eric’s deal fell through and Vince was about to buy WCW for five million bucks, I knew that I had to get in there with an offer. I finalized the deal at the 11th hour, and I know Vince ain’t happy about havin’ the rug pulled from under him. I ain’t interested in a war with the McMahons, but I ain’t a fool either. He’ll retaliate -- I know it’s comin’ and I'm ready for it. Vince wants to crush his competition, but I ain’t the type to back down from a fight. Just ask Big Poppa Pump.
To my surprise, FX was still interested in picking up Nitro after the Bischoff-Fusient consortium deal fell through -- and they want to run it on Monday nights. I'm signing the contract tonight, so it’s time to put my money where my mouth is and turn this into somethin’ good pretty freakin' soon. I never expected to land a TV deal from the get-go, but there must be some appetite left for wrestling. Besides, we still have some great talent here who are proven draws, even if some of their allure has been tainted in recent years. Once upon a time, though, I was a kaleidoscope of every bad gimmick in the book -- or so says my good friend Eric. Some fresh coats of paint, a few new recruits, and an entertaining product that emphasizes compelling stories and quality in-ring action will fix our sullied reputation. Easier said than done though, right? NAH, with Dream and the rest of the team I'm recruitin' by my side, I know we'll deliver what WCW fans want to see.
I won’t lie, I always wanted to join the WWF and compete at WrestleMania, but this company has been good to me. WCW took a chance on a young Dallas when he was stuck runnin' nightclubs in Florida and itchin' to get inside the squared circle. I ain’t willing to let this company die and end my career with an easy payday and 'Mania moment. Heck, I'd probably end up with a stalker gimmick and jobbin' to their big dogs anyway.
It’s gonna be a challenge getting this company back to where it was during the good old days. But I’ll have Dream by my side. I offered Bischoff the chance to run the ship with me, but the Fusient deal collapsing knocked the wind out of his sails. He’s turning his attention to Hollywood, but I suspect he'll get involved at some point. No one in this business stays gone forever…

So, will I succeed? Who knows. But I live for inspiring people to do things they think they can't. My goal is to completely eliminate the word "can't" from the equation, no matter how corny that may sound. I’d be betraying my own beliefs if I didn’t take on this challenge and give it my full focus. These fans deserve a quality alternative to the WWF, and the boys and girls deserve more options for makin’ a decent livin’. The new WCW will epitomize the notion of going above and beyond in pursuit of a dream, and we'll create a healthy backstage culture while doing it.
It’s gonna take a while to get back to our former heights, but I’m proof that you can still create DIAMONDS when life gives you scraps. The first episode of the revamped Nitro is a few days away, and WCW will return with a BANG!!!
