TRIPLE THREAT MATCH FOR WWE CHAMPIONSHIP AT ARMAGEDDON
SmackDown! opens with Co-General Manager Vickie Guerrero coming down to the ring (without being in a wheelchair) and introduces the returning and No. 1 Contender Edge!. Edge comes out and hugs Vickie while wearing Triple H's WWE Championship. Edge says that he's 100% healthy and last Sunday was the best time to comeback and shake up the main event scene. Edge says he wants to apologize to Vickie for everything that Edge has done in the past. Edge is a new man and he's the hero that Vickie needs to finally bring the WWE Championship back to La Familia. Vickie Guerrero says SmackDown! needs a champion like Edge and not a degenerate like Triple H and especially not somebody who is irresponsible as Jeff Hardy and at Survivor Series that was the last chance for Jeff Hardy to win the WWE Championship. Jeff Hardy then ran down to the ring but La Familia security held him back from entering the ring. Triple H (the real WWE Champion) came down to the ring with a sledgehammer and both Hardy and Triple H took out the security before Edge and Vickie ran back up the ramp. Co-General Manager Theodore Long came out and announced that if Jeff Hardy can beat Vladimir Kozlov tonight than Jeff Hardy will be added into the WWE Championship match. Vladimir Kozlov came out and the match began. After Edge tried to interfere on behalf of Kozlov, Matt Hardy came down and dragged Edge off the apron allowing Jeff Hardy to hit the Twist of Fate into the Swanton Bomb on Kozlov and won the match to make it Edge vs Jeff Hardy vs Triple H in a triple threat match for the WWE Championship.

EDGE HOSTS CUTTING EDGE WITH GUEST MATT HARDY
Edge opens up SmackDown! with a "Championship Edition" of the Cutting Edge with his guest being ECW Champion Matt Hardy. Edge welcomes Matt to the show and says that this Sunday Edge is going to walk out of Armageddon still as WWE Champion (he's not the champion, he's taking Triple H's belt) and that he cant promise to Matt that Jeff Hardy will ever walk again. Edge says that if you look at the facts, Jeff Hardy will never be the WWE Champion and Matt is the only champion the Hardy family will ever have. Matt Hardy then said Jeff Hardy is going to do what Matt still wants to do and that is put a beating on Edge and will never forget Edge for what Edge put Matt through. Matt says that both Edge and Vickie are the scummiest couple in the world and that Edge has been hiding behind Vickie for the past year. Edge says its ok if Matt Hardy still hates Edge because Edge still hates Matt Hardy and Edge is going to make sure he adds a little extra in the beating that Edge is going to give Jeff on Sunday and have Matt feel the pain. Edge says that Matt should worry about his own business and that is the ECW Championship and not worry about Edge and the WWE Championship. Edge says that nobody cares about Matt Hardy. Edge says that Matt Hardy is the face of a dead promotion and Edge is the face of the greatest wrestling promotion in the world. Matt Hardy then got up and pushed Edge over and started brawling with Edge before Vladimir Kozlov came down to the ring and hit Matt Hardy with a huge chokeslam!. Both Edge and Kozlov were teaming up on Matt before Jeff Hardy came down and rescued his brother. Matt Hardy issued a challenge to a match against Kozlov at Armageddon.

Tribute to the Troops - Camp Victory - Baghdad, Iraq - December 20, 2008
Keeping with the tradition, the WWE is back in Iraq to put on another episode of Tribute to the Troops. TOT opens with President George Bush praising the US troops and the WWE for their support for the men and women in uniform. The first match was a six man tag team match between CM Punk, Jeff Hardy and Ron Killings defeating John Bradshaw Layfield, John Morrison, and the Miz. We then see Cryme Tyme come out (Shad dressed as Santa Clause and JTG as an elf) with the WWE Divas (dressed as Santa's helpers) and hand out gifts to the troops while the Divas give out hugs and kisses. In the main event Batista, John Cena and Rey Mysterio defeated the Big Show, Chris Jericho and Randy Orton. After the main event Batista, Cena and Mysterio all celebrated with the troops.

John Cena opens up RAW before Christmas dressed as Cena Clause. Cena says that 2008 has been quite a year for him but he's done all his best to be a good boy and he thinks everybody in this arena deserves a huge Christmas gift this year! John Cena says that tonight he has a special tag team partner in his match against Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella. All of a sudden Beth and Santino Marella come out and interrupt Cena Clause. Santino says that John Cena is not Santa Clause and he can not fool Santino, he knows the real Santa. Santino says that John Chena has been a naughty boy and Santino Marella is going to give him a bunch of coal. Santino says if John Chena is the real Santa than why didnt Santino get that toy he wanted when he was 11. Cena says that tonight Santino Marella is going to be added on the naughty list and said he's got a perfect gift for Beth Phoenix in the main event. The main event begins and out comes Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella and then the World Heavyweight Champion John Cena and his tag team partner, Toronto, Canada's own TRISH STRATUS!! Cena and Stratus both hit their finishers on Santino Marella before Cena pinned Marella to win in a great surprise for the Canadian crowd.

BROCK LESNAR BECOMES UFC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION
After making his successful UFC debut in February with a win over Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar went on to win his next fight (an unanimous decision fight against Heath Herring in August) and earned himself a quick UFC Heavyweight Championship fight against legendary champion Randy Couture. The fight took place on the year end UFC card with Brock Lesnar winning by TKO at 3:07 of the second round. A list of wrestlers that were in attendance included the Undertaker, the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin and even the WWE Chairman himself, Vince McMahon. With a record of 6-0, Brock Lesnar has won the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

EDGE VS HARDY BOOKED FOR ROYAL RUMBLE
Vickie Guerrero welcomes everybody to the first SmackDown! of 2009. Guerrero says that 2008 was a great year for La Familia and 2009 will be even better! Vickie announced that at the Royal Rumble, Jeff Hardy will defend the WWE Championship against Edge (what a shocker). Vickie also announced a few of the SmackDown! superstars that will compete in the Royal Rumble. One of those superstars, former WWE Champion, Triple H came down to the ring and wished Vickie and everybody a Happy New Year. Triple H said that he's excited to go and win his second Royal Rumble and promised Vickie that whoever is the WWE Champion he's going to make sure he headlines WrestleMania and the last thing Vickie sees at WrestleMania is Triple H as WWE Champion once again. Triple H says that he might not even wait for WrestleMania and might have to beat up whoever wins the Rumble match between Edge and Hardy that night. Vickie said that if he keeps talking about to Vickie than he wont be in the Royal Rumble. Triple H says that Vickie doesnt want Triple H to win the Rumble or the WWE Championship but nobody wants to start off the New Year seeing Vickie Guerrero. Triple H then mocked Vickie Guerrero and her first ever action figure. Triple H said that Vickie Guerrero was the most downloaded women on the internet in 2008 within the Mexican community and that her biggest fan was a user named ChavoG2009. Vickie Guerrero gets embarrassed and sprints out of the ring while Triple H laughs and celebrates the New Years with the crowd.
