Any positive news about WCW getting a new TV deal, now that the mole has been dug out? I am actually not far away from the next chapter of "Eric needs TV deals" because all of my broadcaster deals run out at the end of December. So that will soon be a new saga that will require some actual writing on my behalf to tell!

December 2001: Week 1 December 3-9, 2001
Show Notes- Bob Orton was seen backstage teaching son Randy some tips on psychology.
- Randy Orton and Rhyno showed pretty good chemistry against one another.
- Getting better at gimmick: Tommy Dreamer
Show Notes- Mick Foley stopped by and brightened the backstage by being his cheerful self.
- Kurt Angle was changed to a Wrestling Machine (Legitimate) gimmick, which got a Great reaction.
- Al Snow and Jason Jett didn’t seem to click, making for an awkward match.
- Getting better at gimmick: Nunzio, Erica Harley (x2)
Show Notes- Yang lifted the locker room spirits by organizing and then winning a tournament on the new video game, Halo.
- Getting better at gimmick: Low Ki, Disqo, Dawn Marie, Curt Hennig, Syndrome, Randy Savage
- Scott Steiner: “That masked moron Mr. Wrestling isn’t no charismatic freak like me, y’oughtta fire his scrawny ass and get someone better.”
- Goldberg: “Mike Sanders isn’t worth the chances you keep giving him, he won’t connect with fans.”
Show Notes- This episode was the live lead-in to WWF Vengeance.
- Kevin Nash is rumored to have been going around bragging about how much money he is making. The story says that when several annoyed wrestlers went to Vince McMahon with this, he laughed and said “If you got it, flaunt it!”
- Also backstage, Test got in Maven’s face about how poor he feels Maven is in the ring. He was given a stern warning, but one must wonder if that had more to do with Maven’s position than anything Test was felt to have done wrong. But Test seems to have improved his behavior.
- Chris Chetti makes his official debut (his match on SD was just a development borrow) and shows his new Full Blooded Italian gimmick. It got an Average rating. His new profile on WWF.com says he will be going under the name of “Marco Chetti” in order to differentiate him from all the other “Chris” on the roster.
- Getting better at gimmick: Marco Chetti
Upcoming Shows

The Week That Was - A war seems to be brewing in Japan, as the WWF this week have debuted their events, Raw, SmackDown, and Heat on Fuji TV networks. WWF Raw is on Fuji TV One, while SmackDown and Heat will have a home on Fuji TV Two, and the events will be on the PPV broadcaster Fuji TV Next Live Premium. WCW have long had a foothold in Japan, but one must wonder what is going to happen in the future with this development.
- Agreements also have surfaced that will keep all of the WWF shows for the next year on Sky Sports 1 and Arena, SmackDown on The Score, and Heat on MTV. Check local listings to make sure of any time slot changes that may have happened.
- Rumors have it that a lot of contracts in World Championship Wrestling are set to expire at the end of December, some of them very high profile. Could this finally be the month that the company stops bleeding money? And who among these names will decide that they are done with the company and head for greener pastures elsewhere?
- Alicia Webb was given a pay raise by the WWF for her good work playing the power hungry Erica Harley character. It’s said that Vince McMahon has been very impressed with her.
- AJPW held their World’s Strongest Tag Team tournament, which was won by “Dr. Death” Steve Williams and Mike Rotundo. It’s the second year in a row that the two have won the trophy.
- Toryumon Japan has announced a new broadcast deal with Kyoto Broadcasting System to show their future tour highlights and events.
- American Independent Network, a very small broadcaster from all over the United States, has closed down.
- WWF Ratings: RAW (14.27); SmackDown! (16.50), Jakked (0.13), Heat (1.00)
- WCW Ratings: PPV (0.03); TV (3.28)

Hell in a Cell match for The Undisputed WWF Championship: “The Game” Triple H © vs. “The Show Stopper” Shawn Michaels - I'm 50/50 on this - I do think Shawn's heel turn falls flat if he can't win here, but I do remember post come-back Shawn not really caring about the belt. I think you're on the path to Rock/Shawn (hopefully), so I guess Trips can keep it here. Elimination Match, winner is #30 in the Royal Rumble: “Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs. Chris Jericho vs. The Rock vs. Kurt Angle WWF World Tag Team championships: Scott Hall & Kevin Nash © vs. The Big Show & Kane WWF Intercontinental championship, Ladder match: Edge © vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Bubba Ray Dudley Unless Edge has an immediate big feud to enter, I think he's fine as IC champ Diamond Dallas Page vs. The Undertaker “The Crippler” Chris Benoit vs. “Latino Heat” Eddie Guerrero Al Snow and Maven vs. William Regal and Christopher Nowinski Hardcore match: Tommy Dreamer vs. Sycho Sid Trish Stratus, Jacqueline, and Nidia vs. Jazz, Ivory, and Molly Holly (Tiebreaker: How long will the Hell in a Cell match last?) - It's Shawn & Trips - 30:00

Hell in a Cell match for The Undisputed WWF Championship: “The Game” Triple H © vs. “The Show Stopper” Shawn Michaels - I could see Shawn winning here but I have to assume The Game gets it done here and moves on as champ.
Elimination Match, winner is #30 in the Royal Rumble: “Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs. Chris Jericho vs. The Rock vs. Kurt Angle - Thinking Jericho pulls off the upset here.
WWF World Tag Team championships: Scott Hall & Kevin Nash © vs. The Big Show & Kane - A great hoss battle but the Band marches on.
WWF Intercontinental championship, Ladder match: Edge © vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Bubba Ray Dudley - This should be a fun one but I have to assume Edge continues his push.
Diamond Dallas Page vs. The Undertaker - I just can't see Taker losing this one.
“The Crippler” Chris Benoit vs. “Latino Heat” Eddie Guerrero - Benoit gets a measure of revenge here.
Al Snow and Maven vs. William Regal and Christopher Nowinski - Picking this mainly because Nowinski deserves to be the bigger star.
Hardcore match: Tommy Dreamer vs. Sycho Sid - Tommy's getting a good push but Sid is a step above him.
Trish Stratus, Jacqueline, and Nidia vs. Jazz, Ivory, and Molly Holly - Jazz gets the pin to set up a title match with Stratus
Tiebreaker: How long will the Hell in a Cell match last? 30:10
