Impact Wrestling #494:
Impact Wrestling #494 opened with a thrilling triple threat match to determine the number one contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Title. Sting, Gunner and James Storm battled it out in a hard-hitting contest that saw Sting emerge victorious after pinning Gunner with a Scorpion Death Drop. Sting then grabbed a microphone and addressed the champion Magnus, who was watching from the ramp. Sting challenged Magnus to a career vs title match at TNA Old School, saying that he would put his legacy on the line for one more shot at the gold.
The next segment featured attorney Sofia Valdez, who had been hired by an anonymous client to represent them in a lawsuit against TNA. Sofia approached Bully Ray backstage and warned him that a regime change in Impact was imminent, and that he had to choose a side before it was too late. Sofia then walked away, leaving Bully Ray confused and intrigued.
The action continued with a six-man tag team match between the Bullet Club and Bad Influence and Low Ki. The Bullet Club, consisting of AJ Styles and the Young Bucks, had recently invaded TNA and declared war on the company. They faced off against Bad Influence and Low Ki, who were former allies of Styles but had turned on him when he left TNA. The match was a fast-paced and high-flying affair that showcased the skills of all six competitors. The Bullet Club prevailed after Styles hit Low Ki with a Styles Clash and Matt Jackson followed up with a 450 splash for the pin.
The next match was a knockouts title number one contendership match between Lei'D Tapa and ODB. Lei'D Tapa was accompanied by her mentor Gail Kim, who held the knockouts title and had been dominating the division for months. ODB was the underdog in this match, as she had to overcome the size and strength advantage of Lei'D Tapa. ODB fought valiantly, but Lei'D Tapa proved to be too much for her. Lei'D Tapa finished off ODB with a Samoan drop and secured her spot as the next challenger for Gail Kim's title.
The main event of Impact Wrestling #494 was a four on one handicap match between Dixieland and Jeff Hardy. Dixieland was a group of young and arrogant wrestlers who were loyal to Ethan Carter III, the nephew of TNA president Dixie Carter. Jeff Hardy was one of the most popular and respected wrestlers in TNA, who had been targeted by Dixieland for his defiance of Dixie Carter's authority. The match was an unfair and brutal beatdown of Hardy, who tried to fight back but was overwhelmed by the numbers game. Dixieland took turns hitting their signature moves on Hardy, until EC3 delivered the final blow with a One Percenter for the win.
After the match, Dixieland continued to assault Hardy, until the Bullet Club came to his rescue. AJ Styles and the Young Bucks stormed the ring and cleared out Dixieland with their trademark offense. Styles then helped Hardy up and offered him a Bullet Club t-shirt, indicating that he wanted Hardy to join his faction. Hardy looked at the shirt and then at Styles, as Impact Wrestling #494 went off the air.
