SCW Heat
From The Sold Out Viking Hall in Philladelphia, Pensilvenia
Paul is sitting in the makeshift office he created deep within the arena, smoking a cigar, more than likely an illegal one, and going through his show. Just a few moments ago he was in the ring, welcoming the 1600 crazed Philly fans to another rendition of SCW Heat, captivating them with each syllable.
When he turned on his little TV monitor, the SCW World Heavyweight Champion and Paul's big project, T. Rantula, was midway through what can only be described as attempted murder on Frank Stalletto, when there was a knock on the door.
As Austin left the room, the match was already over long ago, Cactus Jack was in the middle of challenging T. Rantula for the belt one last time, and to the crowd's pleasement, the Spider Giant agreed to that offer. Paul was still unsure how to handle Foley's departure, but he knew that adressing the locker room is gonna be step number 1.
Next up was the weekly open challenge for The Tazmania Devil's TV Title, which he's holding for a ridiculous 9 months. This time it was answered by the Mexican luchadore Black Cat, a somewhat unique worker with both Mexican and Japanese influences. This was bound to be a technical masterpiece, and a masterclass it was. Paul was hooked from the off and so was the rabid crowd, known for their love of mat wrestling almost as much as the blood bath deathmatches. Chain lock after another lead to some stellar work on the ground, resembling an amatuer wrestling match more than a pro wrestling one, with the champion gaining the edge after hitting a textbook Saito Taz-Plex, one of the moves Taz made look like could kill a man, but Black Cat was in for the long fight, kicking out and shifting the momentum back in his favour with a release German Suplex, and started a massive battle of the suplexes. Taz with a Belly to Belly, Black Cat returned the favour with a Capture Suplex, and for the finale, Taz hit a Superplex, leaving both men down and the crowd well on their feet, popping hard for the two bad asses test of strength. In his office, Paul was exclaiming with each move, knowing who wins doesn't take away the quality of the match, does it?
For the finish, Black Cat was going for the Gory Special, but Taz was able to shimmy out into his glorious Tazzmision, tapping out Black Cat in a stellar match.
The two shook hands, but Paul had to return to the control room, as there were a few segments needing of his direction.
First was a backstage brawl, The Pitbulls and The Dudley Boyz were in the midst of a heated battle for the tag titles, and Paul had some specific shots he wanted. The Viking Hall backstage area is tiny, narrow, and dark, but all that didn't matter for Paul, he wanted a backstage brawl, and he was gonna have one.
But then he got a call. It was Todd Gordon, SCW's owner and Paul's friend. One of his only friends, really.
Finally! Some good news was Paul's thought there, he was so in the moment he forgot about his production duties, luckily Tommy Dreamer was there to help. Tommy has took on more and more duties as time passed, learning from Paul about producing, directing, writing and booking, with the plan to eventually enlist Tommy in charge of the show to show booking. But that didn't bother Paul at the moment, as the news broke that Shane Douglas will make his "debut" in SCW. Well, it's only a debut technically, if you don't count pre-Hogan ECW.
After the brawl finished, and most of the locker room was busy cleaning up the mess, came the moment Paul has been waiting for - Raven's Promo.
Even though these are taped, Paul never sees anything regarding the Tommy-Raven feud before it goes live, it all goes through Raven and Dreamer, and they deal with editing, writing, etc.
Whenever the storyline comes up on the screen, Paul is not to be interrupted, as he is no longer the Head Booker and man in charge of SCW, but a simple fan. A fan of the marvelous craft these two have been working on for the last 5 months.
This time, however, it was Beulah who had a chance to talk. Usually left to play the eye candy role, we got a chance to see Beulah's work as an actor. And maybe it wasn't even an act, since it was all too good, too convincing.
"HOLY SHIT" Paul shouted. Todd Gordon, who just arrived at the arena and was paying Kid Kash for his tryout appearance, heard it from across the locker room and stormed in, thinking god forbid something bad happened, when in fact it was the complete opposite. Paul caught him up with what's happened and they started talking about some plans, then, to Paul's disdain, some finances. He hated talking money during a show. Actually, he hated talking money, period. Luckily for him, the main event was starting, as the SCW World Junior Heavyweight Title was on the line tonight, with Rey Misterio Jr., last week's winner of the #1 contender match, challenged current champion, Lord Zoltan.
Paul said that since Todd is already here he should watch the match. Back in the good ol' Eastern Championship Wrestling days, Todd and Paul would watch the entire show together, but as the money and issues became bigger, Todd had his hands full, so this was the first time in a while they just had a chance to unwind, relax, and watch the reason they do it all.
Todd smirked, it's not every day he one ups the great "Paul E. Dangerously, The Greatest Promo In Philly".
And so the match unfolded, Rey carrying most, if not all, of the work, Zoltan and Ruffles, his dog, using whatever means neccessary to hold on to the belt, to the crowd's disdain. The Philly fans started a chant, at first it was difficult to make out, but after a minute the entire 1,600 in attendance were definitely chanting "**** You, Ruffles".
It wasn't long untill the end, though, as Misterio launched his patented comeback, and ended with his 619 Combo...
Todd, much like the crowd in attendance, jumped in his seat, but of course, he didn't already know Rey was winning the belt tonight, and as he looked at Paul, there was nothing but a smirk on his face.
But before Rey and the fans could finish celebrating, Misterio's foe for the last couple of months, Psicosis, ran into the ring, armed with a steel chair, and started blasting the fan favorite luchadore.
And as the Philly crowd filled the ring with whatever used to be held in their hands, Psicosis hoisted the newly won World Jr. Heavyweight Title and posed over Misterio with a leg on his chest, and the screen turned black.
