#0316 NWA World Light Heavyweight Title & UWA World Light Heavyweight Title Two Out Of Three Falls Match Sangre Chicana vs Ringo Mendoza (EMLL 28.10.1983) Good match, in front of a receptive crowd, even though the non-finish seemed very obvious since the beginning. They were good on the mat, the match got some "exhibition exchanges" at some point, but they focused on the right stuff with some fun details, like the way Chicana got out of a lock up in the last fall. The intermediate falls looked okay, a bit clumsy but fun overall, but the finish was very solid and the match in general had a very strong last part. They put some effort in here, so the draw wasn't that big of a let-down ***1/4

#0317 Dog Collar And Chain Match The Junkyard Dog vs Butch Reed (HOUSTON WRESTLING 04.11.1983) This was such a simple, but well worked match. The crowd made it so easy, as they played their respective roles perfectly and the fans couldn't wait for JYD to get the upper hand here. Even the pre match staredown meant something. I liked the simple segments of Reed using the chain to enhance a headlock, or JYD bruising Reed's belly before his headbutt. It all made sense, even the overbooked finish, which still led to a satisfying pinfall from Dog. Very fun spectacle, this was a blast for the whole 10 minutes ***

#0318 Elimination Match David von Erich, Kerry von Erich & Kevin von Erich vs Buddy Roberts, Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy (WCCW 14.11.1983) This is JIP, as the first 4 minutes were not broadcasted. It was not as good (or famous) as the best von Erichs vs Freebirds stuff, but it was still a damn good spectacle, even on a B or C show. I usually hate the referee involvement stuff, but the addition of the second official and the double DQ elimination was well done here, as the brawl got out of control. David got to play the rare part of the surviving brother (usually reserved for the pushed Kerry or the experienced Kevin), he overcame the odds and managed the use the claw to tame Gordy. The "reverse claw" to stop the giant from behind was very creative ***1/4

#0319 NWA Florida Heavyweight Title vs. Saddle Match Barry Windham (c) vs Ron Bass (CWF 16.11.1983) This was a very solid bout, despite not being particularly exciting. But still, they went for almost 20 minutes and the action was crisp, Bass managed to carry young Windham and it was easy to see that the champion had lots of potential. Nothing special happened during the long headlock sequences, but they were good at selling the exhaustion later on, Bass acted like a tired bull earlier on and so his bumps later on meant so much more. Good and clean finish, I liked how Windham fought off his tiredness and pulled a rabbit out of a hat to retain **3/4

#0320 Two Out Of Three Falls Match Sangre Chicana vs Villano III (EMLL 18.11.1983) This was a very fun brawl, even though it ended up being too short to become epic. And also, the crowd sucked, which was a shame because Chicana was awesome as usual with this bloody forehead and a reckless dive to the outside. Villano didn't give him much at the beginning, but the formula worked anyway as the babyface made his comeback. I didn't really understand why Chicana didn't get disqualified for unmasking Villano, as a rudo would usually do it go gain heat, but oh well I guess they needed a non-finish here ***

#0321 NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Titles Two Out Of Three Falls Match The Assassin & The Dynamite Kid (c) vs Billy Jack & Buddy Rose (PNW 19.11.1983) This was another fun Portland tag match. It was clear that they tried to make Billy Jack a star here; he didn't do too much, but got to look extremely strong and Dynamite was bumping huge for him. Rose, of course, took most of the beating early on and this made for a nice first part of the match thanks to his chemistry with Kid. TV time limits were a constant thing, so fine, but it was a bit silly to see a title match being stopped for this reason, while they kept the usual promos between falls despite time restrictions ***1/4

#0322 Loser Leaves Town Steel Cage Match Kerry von Erich vs Michael Hayes (WCCW 24.11.1983) Great blowoff atmosphere here, but unfortunately the match was short and also JIP, so we only got to see 8 minutes of it. It ruled anyway, obviously. Such a nice non-nonsense brawl between these two and it was perfect for the feud to finish in the cage, where it all started the previous Xmas day. Nuclear heat for Hayes using his tape to choke Kerry, like they were squaring off in jail. The KO punch finish was simple and effective, especially with the revenge of the cage headshot, but the cameras kind of missed both the cage bump and the pinfall, doing a terrible job. A satisfying spectacle and blowoff, but not an all time bout ***1/2

#0323 Dog Collar Match Roddy Piper vs Greg Valentine (MACW 24.11.1983) This was an incredible match and probably the reason Dog Collar matches got a decent success in the later years. Their ring psychology here was off the charts, going back to Valentine injuring Piper's ear in their July bout and now whipping him there with the chain, some shots looked very harsh and Piper was bleeding from his poor ear. Heel Piper was a blast, but babyface Piper was so underrated: he showed plenty of fire and used the chain in a simple, but creative way to make Valentine suffer. Too bad the finish was too "simplistic" too, despite being perfectly fine: with a better ending, this is among the best matches of all time ****1/4

#0324 NWA World Heavyweight Title Steel Cage Match Harley Race (c) vs Ric Flair (MACW 24.11.1983) This was an historic match, but such a huge disappointment, especially considering the big time angle that they did to build the bout. The best part of the contest was Race trying to destroy Flair's neck again with some very stiff knee drops, but the match went too long at 25+ minutes, when Flair comeback 10 minutes earlier could have easily closed it in a more fitting way. Nothing was "bad", but the second part really looked like a filler, even though the finish was epic due to Flair always failing his top rope dives. Referee Gene Kiniski also hurted the match, as there were No DQs but he kept stepping in to enforce the rules ***

#0325 Atlantis & El Hijo del Santo vs Fuerza Guerrera & Lobo Rubio (EMLL 25.11.1983) Santito was still a rookie at this point and this is a showcase for him, which worked very well. He got plenty of time from the beginning, indulging on the mat against los rudos, but also stealing the show later on when things became flashy and quick. Atlantis was just a great partner here, selling big time and also assisting Santo in their high flying attacks. Guerrera and Rubio shined when isolating Atlantis, but also in their frustrations against the quickness of the tecnicos. Good heat, solid action and good spots, including the finish, but this felt a bit too long at 25+ minutes and dragged in a few parts ***1/2
