#0346 Mid-South Tag Team Titles Match Magnum TA & Mr. Wrestling II (c) vs Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey (HOUSTON WRESTLING 10.02.1984) This was pretty much on the same level of the previous bout between these two teams. The story sees the champions being angry and eager to punish the challengers this time, it got MW2 quite motivated as he was featured in a decent shine segment that went a bit too long, despite MNX being fun even when stalling. MNX was at their best when they got heat on TA and the non-finish got tons of heat from the crowd, getting the leather belts involved so the ending could easily lead to a gimmick rematch down the road ***1/4

#0347 AWA World Heavyweight Title & NWA International Heavyweight Title Match Jumbo Tsuruta (c) vs Nick Bockwinkel (c) (AJPW 23.02.1984) This was a great match. Long and competent limb work by Bock, who massacred Tsuruta's arm repeatedly, taking all the time he needed to carry the bout in a very suggestive way. Jumbo's sold well up to the last 5 minutes, when he suddenly forgot about it, and his painful face expressions when he tried a power move were amazing. I loved how Bock feared the comeback and tried to cheat in any way he could, even though it got too overbooked. We were all waiting for a non-finish, but then the cleanest pinfall happened, which was great but a bit out of nowhere. Pretty fantastic stuff, but the overbooking and lack of selling towards the end were a pity ***3/4

#0348 No Disqualification Losers Get Five Lashes Match Magnum TA & Mr. Wrestling II vs Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey (HOUSTON WRESTLING 24.02.1984) Like their previous matches, this was good but I dug the crowd interaction/support more than the work itself, which was still not bad anyway. MNX were constantly improving as a team, I just felt the match never really delivered when they stalled or when MW2 was in, apart from his chair antics when he got tired of them. Once again, cutting TA and working on him was easily the best part and it led to a climatic crescendo. Another good piece of business, I am appreciating the feud itself even though the matches are "just" good ***1/2

#0349 Hair vs Hair Two Out Of Three Falls Match Tony Salazar vs Herodes (EMLL 02.03.1984) This match started in a quite weird way, as the first two falls didn't mean much, but the last caida was actually very good. Salazar bled buckets and sold all around the ring, reminding me of Jerry Lawler for how his white trunks had huge red stains on it. Herodes looked okay, but he didn't seem that impressive to me, despite being very agile for his size. We got a few good nearfalls towards the end, while the finish was terrible but somewhat unique, I can't believe that a Hair vs Hair match was settled this way **3/4

#0350 Clive Myers vs Steve Grey (JOINT PROMOTIONS 05.03.1984) JIP, as the first round was missing. I wasn't really thrilled to see some of the comedy spots, but these two were stupidly athletic and crisp here. Between Grey's technique and Myers' karate influence, this was a very enjoyable bout and the 5 minute rounds also helped quite a lot. I liked Myers legwork at the beginning, Grey shined with his counters and his cardio somewhat made up for Myers' unorthodox style. Really fun series of nearfalls towards the end, it was so good that the non-finish was satisfactory as well. Can't rate this higher as it wasn't complete and they only teased limb working throughout the whole out ***3/4

#0351 Chic Cullen vs Keith Haward (JOINT PROMOTIONS 05.03.1984) This was another good match, extremely focused on matwork and ground action. The cleanest Joint Promotions stuff that didn't include Johnny Saint. Cullen didn't show much charisma or presence, far from it, but his legwork on Haward was outstanding, despite some selling flaws when Haward was trying to reverse the leg focus on his opponent. Too bad that his limbwork never led to a submission or got even close to getting one. The flashy pinfalls were quite good, but the non-finish was very lame, especially with 2024 eyes and with the TV cut in the middle ***1/4

#0352 NWA United States Heavyweight Title No Disqualification Steel Cage Match Dick Slater (c) vs Greg Valentine (MACW 17.03.1984) Love the fact that "No DQ" was specified in the stipulation, like a cage match itself would still involve disqualification. This was a good match, despite easily not being everyone's cup of tea, due to the constant brawling sequences, some restholds (in a a cage match) and slower pace all around. Good drama once they started bleeding and the exhaustion selling brought to a different type of brawls, Valentine was a fiery babyface and Slater's headbutts proved he gave no ****s. The finish wasn't great either, despite being a pleasant surprise, I wished they used the cage a bit more ***

#0353 NWA World Heavyweight Title Match Ric Flair (c) vs Ricky Steamboat (MACW 17.03.1984) Slightly clipped. Unfortunately, the copy I saw had Matt Striker and Steamboat on commentary and they talked over the vibrant crowd, mostly speaking about everything except the match itself. The first part of the match was great, Steamboat worked on Flair's head persistently and controlled him, but Flair looked great as one of those football teams that is off the ball, but never really seems in danger. Flair takes over at like 40+ minutes in, but this is where the match failed to get to the next stage, as the Naitch's offense wasn't that great or particularly focused, he tried many things without consistency. Nice set of nearfalls over the last minute and huge drama, as Steamboat technically won the title, but it didn't count at 60:01. Excellent two thirds and good finish, but the last 15 minutes were dull ***1/2

#0354 PWF Heavyweight Title Match Stan Hansen (c) vs Giant Baba (AJPW 24.03.1984) This was more "fun" than "good" in a traditional way, as it was fun indeed to see Baba working on Hansen's arm and the crowd reacted to everything, in hope that this would stop the gaijin's lethal lariat. However, Baba's offense looked very bad at times and Hansen had to do all he could to sell it decently. At least they kept this short and Hansen made the match with his flawed reaction, as he only had one good arm and this helped Baba in his brawl with the champion. The non-finish made sense too, as they will wrestle again down the road **3/4
