Hey everyone I am a long time fantasy booker who finally has some time to pick it up again. I have been booking a WWE save in 2004 without writeups and have just hit January 2005. For the purposes of not having to write a long piece about the year that was 2004, I will probably just start new storylines and all that for this diary.
The premise for the save is pretty much the classic one, A wealthy entrepreneur and lifelong wrestling fan successfully acquires the WWE, resulting in a changing of the internal power structure.
We are taking strong steps toward talent development, partnering with Harley Race's WLW and Bruce Hart's STAMPEDE wrestling along with OVW for a pipeline of talent that goes both ways. We have lots of opportunities for development of promising young talent to lead us into the future, I am not sure if I will be keeping these deals in place as part of me is tempted to clean house of the talent that haven't developed, and we would no longer need to have different developmental options.
I have been running a brand split but will be ending that for 2005
The current champions and reign length are as follows:
- World Heavyweight - Triple H (49 days)
- WWE Heavyweight - Brock Lesnar (43 days)
- WWE Intercontinental - Batista (43 days)
- WWE United States - John Cena (55 days)
- WWE Cruiserweight - Juventud Guerrera (43 days)
- WWE Women's - Trish Stratus (43 days)
- World Tag Team - La Resistance (70 days)
- WWE Tag Team - Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty (15 days)
For a weekly schedule we have
- WWE Raw - Monday nights live on Spike TV
- WWE Smackdown- Thursday nights live on UPN
- WWE Velocity - Saturday nights live on Spike TV
- WWE Heat - Sunday nights live on Spike TV
I opted to make the B shows live events basically just to be able to run different and smaller venues for the smaller shows which I think would be cool. I always preferred live shows over taped anyway, I guess I also have a soft spot for the weekend B shows, as sometimes that was all I would be able to watch when I was younger.
The wrestling landscape is pretty fascinating at this time. WWE still undoubtedly number 1, but TNA continues to build a following especially in the South East regions. TNA has put the company on the back of Sting and Jeff Jarrett for almost all of 2004. CMLL & NJPW continue to grow in their regions but eventually could look to expand outward. The indy scene is doing quite well with many companies growing and securing TV deals despite a cold economy and wrestling industry in the US.
For roster changes I have brought back a few people. I signed Warrior in what would probably be a very controversial move in 04, but I did it. Other veterans that have returned include: Kevin Nash, Vader & Ken Shamrock . I also am steadily expanding the cruiserweight division, bringing back guys like LA Park, Psicosis & Juventud Guerrera.
I think that is pretty much all I needed to say to get this going, looking forward to writing again.
