Nice show where the title matches were booked way better than IRL. I hated the Edge interference and felt that with the "home-field" advantage, RVD should have won clean over Cena. So that's the right call! Also Mysterio/Sabu ending in a no-contest? In ECW? Nah...so good to see an actual conclusion here. As you said, no reason to change Angle/Orton and Edge & Foley/Dreamer & Funk. Londrick vs. Mexicools would have been a banger and I laughed at the "It's better than having Eugene on the show" comment. Although it was hilarious to see Sandman cane the bejeezus out of him. Should be interesting to see where you take the fresh WWE-version of the ECW brand. Yeah, it didn't make sense for Edge to screw Cena over imo, other than to protect Cena. He was already #1 contender either way. But I don't think he needed the protection at all, there's a logic reason for him to lose already. I do have fun stuff in mind for ECW, the bigger challenge for me is what to do with Raw and Smackdown

Announcers: Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler
The new WWE Champion kicks off RawRob Van Dam starts the show, coming out to a loud pop from the New York crowd (even if it's not the Hammerstein Ballroom this time) with his newly won WWE title. "In the tradition of Buddy Rogers, in the tradition of Bruno Sammartino, of Pedro Morales, of Bob Backund. From the Steve Austins, to the Bret Harts, to the Shawn Michaels, to Triple H, to Edge... and to John Cena. And they can all KISS MY ASS!" "RVD was born in ECW, and no matter what everybody says RVD isn't a Raw superstar, I'm an ECW wrestler! And I will take to the land of extreme, to the ECW arena! See you tomorrow!" RVD drops the mic and leaves the ring, jumps the barricade and leaves through the crowd with the WWE Championship. Vince and Shane McMahon both come out to the stage and call security to stop him, but Van Dam still escapes. Rating: 75Randy Orton Vs. GoldustOrton comes out still limping, after Kurt Angle did whatever he wanted to his ankle last night, to face Goldust in a matchup that should, in theory, be pretty straight up. That's not really what we see, Goldust actually takes it to Orton and it's, quite randomly, a very competitive 11-minute opener. Goldust seems pretty sharp and works the ankle whenever he can, and also manages to avoid Orton a couple times when he goes for the RKO. He even catches Orton in an Ankle Lock at one point and, while it looks like Orton will tap, he manages to roll out of it, sending Goldust head first into a turnbuckle and then lands a desperation RKO for the win. Winner: Randy Orton (Pinfall via RKO) Rating: 83 Orton's frustration means trouble for GoldustAfter being put through the wringer by a very game Goldust, an annoyed Orton sees Goldust getting back up and nails him with a second RKO! But that's not enough and he kicks Goldust right in the head! Goldust is looked over by medical staff as the broadcast goes to break. Rating: 58Charlie Haas Vs. William RegalThis is a good technical bout between two accomplished wrestlers. Regal is the meaner of the two, and he uses some dirty tactics to ground Haas, but overall it stays pretty even. After some minutes, Haas catches him in a cradle and scores a bit of an upset win. Winner: Charlie Haas (Flash Pinfall) Rating: 73 Shelton Benjamin talks about his match tonight but is interruptedTodd Grisham is backstage, to interview Shelton Benjamin about his match later tonight with Kane. The Intercontinental Champion arrogantly says he will handle the "Big Red Machine" just fine, but on camera appears his former partner Charlie Haas, who is just getting back from his match. Shelton is annoyed at the interruption and the two former friends talk trash to eachother until Benjamn storms off. Rating: 60 Umaga Vs. Al Snow & EugeneNot much story to this one, Umaga just annihilates the two guys by himself without much trouble. He knocks out Al Snow, who is legal, then turns to Eugene, forces him into the ring and lays him out too. He stacks both guys and climbs the turnbuckle to hit a splash. The referee calls for the bell as neither guy can defend himself. Winner: Umaga (Ref Stoppage) Rating: 67DX mock the McMahons, Carlito wants to prove himselfMean Gene (I didn't know he was there in 06, pleasant surprise) is backstage interviewing Triple H and Shawn Michaels. They mock Vince and Shane (who they're having a really long feud with) for being made to look like fools by RVD earlier. Carlito interrupts the interview and says he's sick of hearing about RVD all the time for the past few weeks. He's sick of Cena, he's sick of Edge, he's sick of all the same faces that get all the spotlight every week on Raw, "And that includes the two of you, cabrones". Now it's time for Carlito to get the spotlight for once. He challenges Triple H to a match tonight, and "The Game" accepts. Rating: 83Shelton Benjamin Vs. KaneInteresting clash of styles, with Kane having a massive power and size advantage over the IC Champion and Shelton trying to use his speed and some cheap shots to survive. It's some solid action for some minutes until Kane grabs Shelton by the throat for a chokeslam and BANG! The fire comes out from the ring posts and there's (ugh, this story is so dumb) Imposter Kane. Kane meets him at the ramp and the two brawl, ref rings the bell for the DQ. Winner: Kane (Interference DQ) Rating: 61 It's chaos now, with a brawl and a surprise attackThe big red clones keep brawling up the ramp as Benjamin stays in the ring. Imposter Kane chokeslams Real Kane on the stage and stands tall. As Shelton watches from the ring, he's grabbed from behind by Charlie Haas, who drops the Intercontinental Champion with a German Suplex and picks up his belt. Rating: 61 Candice Michelle Vs. Ashley Massaro Vs. Torrie Wilson Vs. VictoriaNot a whole lot to this one, just something to give a little shine to the women's division. They get 9 minutes to have a fun goofy match and entertain the crowd. This is way more than they'd normally get, I guess, but I trust Victoria and Candice to help the other two through it. Candice pins Ashley and does that title taunt, seemingly calling out Women's Champion Mickie James. Winner: Candice Michelle (Pinfall via Sugar Rush) Rating: 63Cena talks about last night, Edge interrupts, Vince punishes
John Cena comes out and talks about his loss to RVD last night. Cena congratulates Van Dam, says he was the better man last night. Edge comes out and taunts him, reminding him that unlike Cena, he successfully represented Raw last night, when he destroyed Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk. Edge did his job right, while John Cena let WWE's most important title, the cornerstone of this company, go to "a low-rent, trash company like ECW". Edge also reminds Cena that he was the #1 contender, bot there's no champion on Raw now "because you're a loser". They're about to come to blows when Vince McMahon comes out and says that Edge has a good point, this is actually all Cena's fault. So, to punish him, Cena will have to face the Big Show tonight. Then, to add insult to injury, Edge spears a distracted Cena. Rating: 86 Carlito Vs. Triple HCarlito is trying to make a name for himself, so he goes at Triple H with everything he's got. They have a competitive match, maybe pending slightly to Triple H, but Carlito is hanging in there. It breaks down when Carlito lands a Suicide Dive to Triple H. The Game is down, and other people see it as the perfect chance to strike. Enter the Spirit Squad, World Tag Team Champions (all 5 of them because Freebird rule) and McMahon lackeys. They push Carlito away and begin to beat down Triple H. Ref calls off the match. Winner: None (Match Called Off) Rating: 60Spirit Squad attack Triple H, Shawn Michaels make the save with some surprising help! The Spirit Squad throw Triple H in the ring and keep attacking him, which brings out Shawn Michaels to save his friend. He's able to fight them for a while, but still loses to the numbers advantage. They're about to finish DX off until Carlito comes in the ring with a chair, lands a shot on one of the members (you guys pick) and then they all run away. Rating: 67 John Cena Vs. Big ShowMain event time. John Cena has faced Big Show multiple times and this one wasn't that different. Show dominates and Cena struggles with the power disadvantage. But eventually, he gets the big man onto his shoulders because he's really really strong, F-U and win. Winner: John Cena (Pinfall via F-U) Rating: 85Edge attacks Cena post match and lays out a warningAs soon as the match finishes, Edge slides in the ring and spears Cena again. He gets a chair and hits Edgecution on it. Then he picks up a mic "See Rob, you're not the only one that can get extreme. I'll meet you in Philly, among your filthy ECW people. I'm getting my WWE Championship, and ECW will never see it again! See you tomorrow!"Rating: 89 Total Rating: 75

Attendance: 2,300 Location: Pennsylvania, United States Total Viewers: 5,666,227
Announcers: Joey Styles and Tazz RVD opens the show, Edge's warning backfiresThe show starts wuth Paul Heyman in the ring, and he introduces the "NEW WWE CHAMPION, ECW'S OWN ROB VAN DAM!". RVD arrives to huge cheers from the ECW arena. He says he's happy to be back home, and he's happy that ECW is also back home. He talks about how proud he is to be a part of ECW again, and that he doesn't care what Vince McMahon or anyone else says. He's gonna keep the WWE Championship in ECW, because ECW isn't just some cash cow that WWE can milk whenever it wants. ECW is his home, and is now the most important brand in wrestling. And ECW now has it's own champion again. So, RVD announces he will defend the WWE Championship on tonight's main event, against anyone in that locker room. That's when Edge interrupts. But as he's going to the ring we see The Sandman coming through one side of the crowd, Tommy Dreamer on the other side, and Sabu, Balls Mahoney and Jerry Lynn come through the entrance. They were ready for him, and Edge is surrounded. The ECW guys pounce on him and attack Edge. In a brutal beatdown, Edge ends up getting powerbombed through a table by Dreamer, who gets a measure of revenge, and he's finished for the night. The message is clear: WWE isn't welcome in ECW. And if you come to South Philly, you better be prepared. Rating: 87The Sandman & Tommy Dreamer Vs. Impact PlayersWhen the emission gets back from commercial break there's only The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer left in the ring, after the beatdown they put on Edge. Out come Storm and Credible and we got ourselves a tag match. It's a chaotic one with lots of weapons, just like the first match of the new ECW should be. There's a lot of brawling all over the place and a bit of good wrestling. The Impact Players put up a fight, but Sandman and Dreamer are on a different level tonight. Dreamer catches Credible with a Death Valley Driver, and Sandman follows it with Rolling Rock for the win. Winner: The Sandman (Pinfall) Rating: 72Tajiri is confronted by the F.B.I. but has backupTajiri is walking backstage when he comes face to face with Little Guido, Big Vito and Tony Mamaluke. They are upset after what happened at One Night Stand, where they were embarassed by Tajiri. Tajiri doesn't seem that intimidated by them, but he is at a numbers disadvantage. Before anything happens though, the Mexicools appear and argue with the F.B.I. The two trios agree on a match next week, to settle the score. Rating: 53Joey Mercury Vs. Kurt AngleMercury used to be on Smackdown, but with the relaunch of ECW he amicably agreed to join the new brand. His opponent tonight, however, is a man that left Smackdown under more litigious circumstances, being angry at Teddy Long for denying him a World Heavyweight Championship shot. That doesn't really matter for either man tonight though, they just want to start their career on the ECW brand with a win. The match is actually kept clean, with no weapons and just the two trying to outwrestle eachother. Credit to Mercury, he can't get the better of Angle but still decided not to go for the easy route, and the two of them go for over 10 minutes. Not that it got him much success though, Angle locks in the Ankle Lock and gets a victory via tap out. Winner: Kurt Angle (Submission via Ankle Lock) Rating: 72Mick Foley reflects on the revival of ECWFoley is being filmed in a dark corner of the arena, the seats are all empty and the video seems to have been taped before the show started. He doesn't look at anything specific, just looks around at several points of the empty ECW arena. "This place... this ring... this arena... it was all supposed to be dead. But it's alive again, and so is the dark cloud in the back of my mind... and it's getting darker... and it's getting heavier. So many have suffered at your hands, ECW. All the broken bones, all the scrambled brains, all the ounces of blood. All that the men that stepped in that ring have left in there... and it wasn't enough to kill you." Foley now directs his eyesight directly to the camera. "And it's all your fault. You're the ones that want our blood, our bodies, our livelihood. You want to claim it all for yourselves, you selfish, twisted demons. You lure us with the promise of love and then shatter us like glass. You take and take and take, until we're left with nothing! I've got nothing! Nothing more than the memory of my experience... and the will to end it all again."Rating: 94 RVD comes out for the main event, awaits his opponentContrary to the norm, the champion enters first for this title match, as we don't know who Van Dam's first challenger is going to be. RVD gets a big pop, and then the crowd quiets down as we await the challenger... IT'S CM PUNK!! The Second City Saint has come to ECW! Rating: 82 Rob Van Dam Vs. CM Punk - WWE ChampionshipThis might be CM Punk's debut but he was definetly not unkown to the crowd. The reaction to him was huge and the ECW crowd is crazy loud as the two men start wrestling. They love every bit of it, as CM Punk tangles with RVD and doesn't really seem a step behind the champ. It's an awesome match, full of good wrestling sequences and enhanced by a hot crowd. They do introdice some weapons in the second half of the 18-minute show-stealer, as Punk shows that he's not afraid to go extreme. Momentum goes back and forth with some great near falls. The finish of the match is similar to two days ago at One Night Stand. Punk has Van Dam up on his shoulders for the GTS, RVD elbows out of it, picks up a chait and hits a quick Van Daminator. Then he climbs to the top for a huge Frog Splash and the win. After such a great match ends, RVD gives his props to CM Punk as the two share a fist bump and celebrate together, with the ECW fans applauding their effort. Winner: Rob Van Dam (Pinfall via 5-Star Frog Splash) - STILL WWE CHAMPIONRating: 93 Total Rating: 75

RAW: Ah! I like your callback to Douglas' iconic promo. For the average WWE fan, it would be weird to see RVD doing such a promo, telling HHH and Cena, two fan favorites, to kiss his ass. But ECW is a different breed and that's where RVD is heading, so... screw them! Punt Orton was hands down the most dangerous version of Orton and the one that I had the pleasure to watch during my childhood years. So I can only be happy that you're bringing the Punt almost two years in advance. I don't envy you for having to book Kane vs. Kane, but that feud will obviously be done by Vengeance. I don't know if I can buy Haas as an Intercontinental Title challenger out of the blue, even if him and Shelton are former partners, but a random title defense shouldn't hurt anyone, I think. I really liked all the interactions between Edge and Cena and, specially, Vince's reaction to Edge's point, setting up a good main event. In the pre-main event, I also liked to see Carlito helping DX for a change. Sure, he's sick of the same names getting the spotlight, but he's probably even less of a fan of a cheerleading squad getting that same spotlight.
ECW: A lot of positive points about this show: first of all, the opening segment, in which Sandman and Dreamer were both portrayed as menacing to stand for ECW against anyone from WWE that doesn't join them on terms; Then, Angle vs. Mercury (I'm a huge fan of Mercury and honestly sad that I can't seem to push him as high as I want in my own ECW diary), which was clean with a lot of good wrestling - even if PWS doesn't agree with me; Anti-Hardcore Mick Foley = the best Mick Foley; Introducing Punk in the main event for the WWE Championship takes some balls. Nobody would think he'd win, but it solidifies him as a top star in ECW. You got a huge rating (which I didn't expect, tbh).

I really love this period, so would follow it definitely. After reading first shows (they're great!), I'm especially curious about where you'll go with Kane vs Kane storyline. WWE really dropped the ball on it, and I was hooked by this story back then.

Nobody would think he'd win, but it solidifies him as a top star in ECW. You got a huge rating (which I didn't expect, tbh). - RVD and the other ECW guys are all about their pride. They will not be disrespected and they won't let ECW be disrespected. - Orton did kinda punt Foley during their 2004 feud, but iirc it wasn't really treated as a big dangerous thing. So, in a sense, this is indeed the birth of punt Orton. - So the basis for the IC title match is also that Haas does hold a singles win over Shelton when he returned to the company. I actually thought of giving it a good build and doing Shelton vs Haas for Summerslam instead, but then I looked at Haas' skillset - Edge is the #1 contender, so basically he's really pissed at Cena for letting the title go to a place he cannot reach. It's kinda understandable. And Vince would be pissed too, Cena lost his company's title to a guy that defected to the outlaw brand. - I know Carlito is mostly a memorable heel, but in a time where I'm desperately needing good mid level faces a charismatic guy like him is very useful. Helping DX probably isn't without consequence, but Carlito is at a point where he welcomes getting in the mix with some main guys. - This first ECW show was probably more stacked than others will be, I did build it around the bigger stars. So it's possible that the ratings for it will drop as I use the lower card more. - I'm hopeful Mercury can be a good singles guy to have in ECW, I think he can be a valuable part of the show even if he's not good enough to be a main eventer. - Heel Cactus Jack in ECW is Foley's most interesting promo work for sure. Having that on the show is a huge asset and it's a really good character to work. - Punk's debut is something I really wanted to work. Popularity wise, he's around the level of some of my midcarders. Skills wise, he's overall one of the best on the roster. I wanted the game to replicate the rub he'd get from having such a big debut, so I gave him a win on Heat the day before (which hasn't actually aired yet so this is officially his debut) just so he'd build some momentum for the game mechanics. Result, he was much more over than I expected. Then it was just letting him and RVD loose and giving them time to put on a great match. Also aside from Cain Velasquez, I don't think anyone else ever had their WWE in-ring debut be a WWE title match I really love this period, so would follow it definitely. After reading first shows (they're great!), I'm especially curious about where you'll go with Kane vs Kane storyline. WWE really dropped the ball on it, and I was hooked by this story back then. I'll be straight with you, I think the Kane vs Kane story is really dumb so I'm just gonna do the one match at Vengeance to keep continuity. I'll try for it to not suck. Then we'll see what Kane does next.

Nice start! RVD's RAW promo was great and Edge insulting Cena the way he did was so on-brand. Love him getting punked by all the ECW OGs at the start of the show.
Speaking of Punk...heck of a way to make a debut. This ECW is supposed to be different so something like this would feel fresh and get the crowd buzzing. Foley's promo was great too. Mick played an amazing heel. I was more afraid of him as Mankind then I was of The Undertaker when I was a little kid.
It's so nice once you start making your own footprint with storylines...I know I struggled a little in mine at first to break out of the existing ones I didn't like. You'll get there where it's all your stories!

Announcers: Michael Cole
Smackdown gets Rowdy!Michael Cole begins the show at the announcers desk. "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my new broadcast partner for Friday Night Smackdown... "ROWDY" RODDY PIPER!" Piper arrives to a great ovation and joins Cole on commentary. They announce tonight's main event, a 6-man tag where JBL, King Booker and Finlay will face Chris Benoit, Chavo Guerrero and the World Heavyweight Champion, Rey Mysterio. But we start with another 6-man tag... WWE Tag Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick team with United States Champion Bobby Lashley, and they will face The Miz, Jamie Noble and Kid Kash, next! Rating: 75 Paul London & Brian Kendrick & Bobby Lashley Vs. Jamie Noble & Kid Kash & The MizThis was meant to be a fun little opener with some good action. The face team has a lot more credibility at this point though, so it's not like there was much doubt when it comes to the result. It did go a bit longer than you'd expect though, clocking in at about 12 minutes. US Champ Lashley pins Miz after a Dominator. Winner: Bobby Lashley (Pinfall via Dominator) Rating: 62We review Khali vs Undertaker, Daivari recalls Great Khali's dominanceA video plays highlighting the events of Judgement Day, where The Great Khali had a dominant win against The Undertaker (seriously, he pinned him after like 8 minutes with a foot on the chest, after a boot). Then, Daivari appears backstage and talks about how Khali humbled Undertaker, made him a mere mortal man again, beat him so bad that he sent him away... "Great Khali is the real phenom of WWE... and you will all see it for yourselves once again, next week" Rating: 88"Unbeaten" Mr. Kennedy wants a title shot, gets Hardy insteadMr. Kennedy walks into GM Teddy Long's office, while he's in there with Matt Hardy. He says he wants to work out what comes next for him, after his triumphant return last week. He thinks he should get a title match, since no one in WWE has been able to pin or submit him yet. Long is perplexed: "Playa, ya got beat at One Night Stand...". Kennedy brushes it off: "You heard me right Teddy, I'm unbeaten in WWE. No one cares what happens in ECW anyways, also that guy used a chair! That's not even legal! So in my view, until someone pins or submits me in a proper WWE ring, I'm the top guy on Smackdown. And it's about time I get an opportunity around here." Matt Hardy decides to intervene and calls out the obvious bullshit: "You put yourself in that situation, and you got embarassed. If you wanna be the top guy, it's time you grow a pair." Obviously, Kennedy doesn't like this and the two start arguing. Before the situation escalates further, Teddy Long puts Kennedy and Hardy in a match later tonight. Rating: 77Mark Henry Vs. FunakiJust a straight up squash really. Funaki had a better reaction than expected and that sort of helped the match, but this was obviously designed to make Mark Henry look good. Sexual Chocolate wins after like 4 minutes. Winner: Mark Henry (Pinfall via World's Strongest Slam) Rating: 63 Henry makes an example out of Funaki, no one is safe! After the match ends, Henry hits another World's Strongest Slam on poor Funaki. Then he grabs a mic. Rating: 65JBL and Booker have eyes on the World Heavyweight Champion, Finlay will fight anyoneIn the locker room, JBL, Booker, Sharmell and Finlay talk about the main event. Bradshaw says he's after Rey Mysterio, and hopes Booker and Finlay follow his lead and give him a win over the World Heavyweight Champion. Booker argues that "King Bookah follows no one's lead" and he wants to beat Mysterio himself. There's a bit of tension until Finlay intervenes. He says that it doesn't matter who beats Mysterio tonight, what matters is that he gets destroyed. And for that to happen, Finlay will fight him, Benoit, Chavo, or anyone else. Eventually, the three agree that they'll do anything it takes to get the win. Rating: 76Stacy Keibler & Maria Vs. Michelle McCool & Jillian HallAgain, this just was just designed for the crowd to have a little fun and give the girls something to do. Why are they on Smackdown? There's no women's title on this show. Matched lasted like 5 minutes, but Keibler was still gassed. Maria gets Jillian in a small package for the face team to grab the win. Winner: Maria (Flash Pinfall) Rating: 57Helms wants a challenge, Scotty answersCruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms comes out, says he's bored of having such little competition so he's throwing an open challenge for his belt. Scotty 2 Hotty (yes, he's still on the roster) answers. Rating: 58 Gregory Helms Vs. Scotty 2 Hotty - WWE Cruiserweight Championship It's a nice 8 minute match. Scotty isn't the best worker, but Helms gets a good showcase and looks good. He wins clean after hitting his finish and retains the title. Winner: Gregory Helms (Pinfall via Shining Wizard) - STILL WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION Rating: 63
Michelle confronts Maria, they're on for next week Backstage, Michelle McCool walks up to Maria and says she got lucky with the win tonight. The two women trash talk eachother and Maria challenges Michelle to a singles match next week, which is accepted. Rating: 78
Mr. Kennedy Vs. Matt Hardy It's a competitive, pretty long matchm clocking in at about 13 minutes. Hardy and Kennedy hit some good offence on eachother and both do come close to a win. Kennedy goes for the Kenton Bomb, Hardy slips out.. small package by Hardy... 1, 2... kickout at 2.9! Hardy almost got Kennedy and his bogus streak almost went up in flames with that cradle! Kennedy runs at Hardy, but he gets caught with a kick to the gut.. Twist of Fate... no! Kennedy is just able to push him off! Hardy almost got him again! The two pause for a moment and... Kennedy just slaps the official! He immediately rolls out of the ring and the bell sounds for the DQ! Matt Hardy gets the win, but he definetly doesn't look happy with it. Winner: Matt Hardy (Intentional DQ) Rating: 65
Chavo and Benoit have Rey's back in the main event Rey, Benoit and Chavo are interviewed by Josh Matthews just before coming out for the main event. Rey has heard what JBL and Booker said, he's got a target on his back, but that's what it means to be the World Heavyweight Champion. Benoit and Chavo say that everyone on Smackdown covets that title, they do as well. But tonight, they have Rey's back. And they're focused on beating their opponents, and leaving Smackdown with the win. Rating: 75
Chavo Guerrero & Chris Benoit & Rey Mysterio Vs. King Booker & JBL & Finlay Main event was expected to deliver, but maybe fell a little short. It goes long, maybe a bit too long at 18 minutes, considering how JBL and Finlay got a bit gassed. At one point, Benoit had Booker in the Crossface and was about to get the win, but Sharmell puts Booker's foot on the rope. She gets caaught doing it by the referee and he throws her out. Then the match breaks down a bit. Booker is annoyed at the ref and even tries to follow his wife to the back but Benoit stops him and they fight up the ramp Booker. Finlay and Rey wrestle, the Belfast native goes for a big move but Rey slips out with a Hurricanrana, then gets a 619 on Finlay, JBL tries to break up the pin but is stopped by Chavo. The babyface team gets the big win to close the show. Rating: 72
Total Rating: 68
