So, recently I've been getting the itch to do a diary again and bought Pro Wrestling Sim. It's a challenging time for WWE. Still the top promotion in the world, but the Ruthless Aggression era has definetly lost some steam. A lot of names that had been important in the last few years have left, some for TNA, and the midcard is like... really bad. There's a shortage of high level heels and mid level babyfaces, the tag division is non existent. The shows are carried by the main event players while the rest just drags along. Also, Vince realized that nostalgia sells and decided to bring back ECW as a third brand... and then he did everything wrong and everybody hated it. So... let's change all the bad stuff and get them going, shall we? This diary will use the 2006 Extreme Revival Beyond world (by Jatavian15) where we start on June 11th, the day of ECW One Night Stand.

Sun 11 June 2006
Venue: Hammerstein Ballroom Attendance: 2,500 Location: New York, United States Total Viewers: 3,014,052
Paul Heyman opens the show
Heyman starts the show in the ring, welcoming everyone to ECW and a sold out Hammerstein Ballroom. Then, like WWE does better than just about anyone, a hype video plays of some memorable ECW moments, highlights of last year’s One Night Stand and hyping up some of the main matches of tonight's show.
Rating: 94
Jerry Lawler interrupts Joey Styles
Joey Styles starts the broadcast by himself, just like classic ECW. However, Jerry Lawler immediately comes out, gets in Joey's face and starts talking trash about ECW. The confrontation escalates and Lawler slaps Styles and is about to attack him... when Tazz appears from behind and german suplexes him! Tazz throws Lawler in the ring and locks in the Tazzmission to make the Raw announcer pass out. Tazz then joins Joey Styles on commentary.
Rating: 63
Randy Orton Vs. Kurt Angle Not really gonna change what isn't broken here. The ECW crowd HATED Orton, and they loved wrestling machine Kurt Angle. This was a hot opener and they have pretty much the same match they had irl. They go almost 20 minutes and in an intense display, Kurt Angle taps out Orton clean and ECW fans love it. Winner: Kurt Angle (Submission via Ankle Lock) Rating: 81
Angle celebrates with the ECW fans
One cool thing about this show is that Kurt Angle was pretty much embraced by the ECW fans as one of their guys, since they respected him so much. So, he goes near the crowd and celebrates with them.
Rating: 74
Impact Players Vs. Stevie Richards & Nova Surprise! Lance Storm returns to reunite the Impact Players with Credible and they have an impromptu match against Stevie and Nova, who isn't Simon Dean anymore. So technically it's two returns, I guess. They wrestle for a bit, use some weapons here and there, have some nice sequences, and Storm taps out Stevie after a solid 8 minute match.
Winner: Lance Storm (Submission via Maple Leaf) Rating: 57
The F.B.I. return
Hey, Nunzio has his old name again! Little Guido, Tony Mamaluke and Big Vito come out together, Italian flag and all, to a sizeable pop from the crowd. But it quickly turns sour for them as they're interrupted by Tajiri's theme song! The Japanese Buzzsaw is back and comes through the crowd, kicks Mamakule and mists Big Vito. He gets in the ring with Little Guido and the bells rings for the start of a match!
Rating: 57
Little Guido (w/ F.B.I.) Vs. Tajiri
It's really just a showcase for the returning Tajiri, who hits is trademark moves in a pretty standard 6-minute match. A blided Vito and Mamaluke do interfere, but they are outsmarted by Tajiri and then he hits the Buzzsaw for the win.
Winner: Tajiri (Pinfall via Buzzsaw Kick) Rating: 55
Rey Mysterio vs Sabu recap
We get a short video package detailing how we got to the match. Rey accepted to defend the title on the show. Heyman tried to get Mysterio to defect to ECW, he said no, Sabu attacked him last Friday on Smackdown. Rating: 69
Rey Mysterio Vs. Sabu - WWE World Heavyweight Championship
It's more a Sabu style of match than a Rey match, but there is a focus in making the World Heavyweight Champion look good. Lots of chairs are used, and they try some innovative spots. Somehow Rey wins after hitting a 619 onto a chair (you imagine it in your own head, it's a cool finish). Winner: Rey Mysterio (Pinfall via 619) - STILL WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION Rating: 69
Rey and Sabu shake hands
After the match, a beat up Rey Mysterio and Sabu show eachother respect while the ECW crowd shows their appreciation for the luchador (or not, judging by that rating),
Rating: 39
London & Kendrick Vs. Mexicools - WWE Tag Team Championship
Goal here was to have a fast paced, competitive match to steal the show. Everyone loves good, high tempo tag wrestling. They go a good 16 minutes and after some near falls, Paul London catches Super Crazy in a cradle and the champs retain. Winner: Paul London (Flash Pinfall) - STILL WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS Rating: 64
ECW guys hang out backstage
I felt bad about not having anything for The Sandman to do so I got him drinking beers in a little backstage segment with some other ECW guys that didn't make the card like Balls or Danny Doring. It's better than having Eugene on the show.
Rating: 60
Edge & Foley vs Dreamer & Funk promo package
A video airs showing the history between Foley and Funk, and between Foley and Edge, and how we got to this match. Rating: 96
Edge & Mick Foley (w/ Lita) Vs. Terry Funk & Tommy Dreamer (w/ Beulah McGillicutty)
Super chaotic match as the two teams just have a violent, bloody brawl. I actually just gave it the deathmatch gimmick in the game. Match doesn't go that long with only 12 minutes, but it's full of action all over the place. Beulah breaks up a pin on Dreamer, Lita goes after her and they fight. Edge spears Beulah, Dreamer does after him incensed. With the numbers advantage, Lita joins Edge and Foley in beating down Dreamer and Funk. Lita lights a table on fire on the outside (like at Wrestlemania), Foley spears Funk through the flaming table. Edge spears Dreamer through a barbed wire table set up on the corner for the win. Winner: Edge (Pinfall via Spear) Rating: 96
Paul Heyman promotes ECW on SciFi but Kennedy interrupts
Paul Heyman comes to the ring to hype up the upcoming debut of ECW on SciFi. He is then interrupted by Mr. Kennedy. Kennedy had returned from injury 2 days ago on Smackdown, but that didn't earn him a warm welcome from the ECW fans. Kennedy is doing his intro but Heyman interrupts him: "What the hell are you doing here?". Annoyed, Kennedy talks trash about ECW. "Paul, you wish your ECW had a major star like me, but I'll stick with the hellhole that is Smackdown rather than joining your bush league, backyard joke of a brand". Paul Heyman replies that "You might not want to be in ECW, but since you came here uninvited, I'm making you fight in ECW!" as out comes.... a returning Jerry Lynn! Rating: 68
Mr. Kennedy Vs. Jerry Lynn
Heyman leaves the ring and joins Styles and Tazz on commentary for the rest of the show. Match goes 9 minutes, and Kennedy wrestles a bit like a cowardly heel, using cheap shots andcreating distance from Lynn any chance he gets, while Lynn used weapons and speed to keep attacking him. Eventually, Kennedy gets more sadistic and hits Lynn with a chair. He goes to get more chairs and tries to hit the Kenton Bomb onto them, but Jerry Lynn slips from it and hits a Cradle Piledriver onto the pile of chairs for the win! This is the first time Kennedy gets pinned on camera since coming to WWE. Winner: Jerry Lynn (Pinfall via Cradle Piledriver) Rating: 58
Cena vs RVD promo package
Rating: 100
John Cena Vs. Rob Van Dam - WWE Championship
Honestly this is another case where the match that happened on the real show was really good and there isn't a need to change that much. Van Dam comes to the ring with Pantera's "Walk" blasting, because that'd be fun. Cena is booed mercilessly and the crowd hates him even more than they hated Orton. They throw his shirt back, all that wonderful stuff. It's a pretty even match, Cena doesn't really back down, knows fully well he's the bad guy for this crowd and both guys are willing to go extreme. They absolutely love RVD (this was actually in the segment breakdown in game) and go crazy whenever he's in the lead. There's no ref bump here, no Edge interference and no Heyman counting the pin (he's just on commentary). Both guys hit eachother with everything they got, weapons and all. Cena kicks out of a 5-Star, Van Dam kicks out of the F-U. Cena has Van Dam on his shoulders for a second F-U, about to put him through a table, Van Dam slips out and lands a big kick, grabs a chair hits the Van Daminator to Cena. Cena lands on the table, RVD climbs the turnbuckles and delivers a huge 5-Star Frog Splash to Cena, through the table, halfway across the ring! 1!... 2!... 3! Winner: Rob Van Dam (Pinfall via 5-Star Frog Splash) - NEW WWE CHAMPION Rating: 88
Rob Van Dam is WWE Champion!
A raucous ECW crowd goes crazy as their guy RVD has finally won a world championship for the first time in his career! Cena lays next to a broken table as RVD celebrates, he jumps over the barricade and celebrates in the middle of his people, the ECW fans, as the show ends.
Rating: 83 TOTAL RATING: 75

Good stuff, what a show One Night Stand 2006 was, that Van Dam/Cena main-event is one of the craziest matches I remember watching live on PPV. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this. Funny you mention Eugene, forgot that gimmick was even a thing until last week when I saw an article that was speculating that they had a few ideas to turn Eugene heel. One of which was that Nick Dinsmore would just turn up one day and admit the whole thing was a sham so he could get on TV and into WWE as they kept overlooking him in developmental without a crazy gimmick. Would have been nuts

Great ratings and a pretty strong PPV from my own perspective. I liked that you added the Tag Team Title match and I can see London and Kendrick being welcomed by the ECW crowd, to be honest, as I remember seeing Spanky all popped up to wrestle in the ECW Arena prior to the first ever ROH show.
I'd definitely change one thing: instead of having Jerry Lynn return right ahead, I'd have The Sandman cane the hell out of Kennedy. In a match or not. Having Lynn be the one to pin Kennedy for the first time would be mindblowing.
Overall, pretty good show that makes me interested in seeing what's next.
---
Little opinion about Kurt Angle and his reception in ECW: I know, he was really embraced by the ECW fans... it's one of those cases where genuine behavior makes NO SENSE at all. The proudest fanbase ever basically showed love to the guy who spat on the promotion they love less than 10 years earlier because """he's offended to see a crucifixion angle""", even though he was backstage for dozens (exhageration) of them in the WWF/E. He thought he was bigger than ECW. That's his reason not to sign with them.
Note: I really like Kurt Angle, honestly.

One of which was that Nick Dinsmore would just turn up one day and admit the whole thing was a sham so he could get on TV and into WWE as they kept overlooking him in developmental without a crazy gimmick. Would have been nuts -I actually watched RVD vs Cena back again before doing the show, just to be sure of what I really wanted to do. Great match, great crowd. -I'm still unsure what to do with Eugene. I definetly don't wanna do that gimmick at all, though. I remember a while ago reading another user here that was booking this time frame and they did a split personality thing with him, I really liked that take. It was a no brainer to use them, they personify the more pure wrestling part of ECW. I do wish the rating reflected that more, but most of the midcarders start with low pop and that hinders it a lot. - I get Lynn beating Kennedy being a weird decision, and it is. In context I should have probably given Sandman something better to do, but I just didn't figure out exactly what I wanted. but I'm banking on Lynn being an important cog for the near future in ECW, so I wanted to give him a good showcase. My first idea was actually to have JBL in this spot because of how funny that would be, but I changed my mind. Then I saw that Kennedy actually had his first loss 3 days after this to Matt Hardy so I got an evil idea. - Everyone likes Kurt Angle. Even if Kurt Angle was rumored to hate the idea of going to ECW even in 2006 and asked for his release

Nice show where the title matches were booked way better than IRL.
I hated the Edge interference and felt that with the "home-field" advantage, RVD should have won clean over Cena. So that's the right call!
Also Mysterio/Sabu ending in a no-contest? In ECW? Nah...so good to see an actual conclusion here.
As you said, no reason to change Angle/Orton and Edge & Foley/Dreamer & Funk.
Londrick vs. Mexicools would have been a banger and I laughed at the "It's better than having Eugene on the show" comment. Although it was hilarious to see Sandman cane the bejeezus out of him.
Should be interesting to see where you take the fresh WWE-version of the ECW brand.
