ECW on Sci-Fi #4: "Trespass"
Week 1, August 2006
>>Paul Heyman opened ECW On Sci-Fi from the middle of the ring, captivating the crowd in a way only he could. Heyman had a podium next to him with a bag, and before long he unveiled his announcement: he was reinstating the ECW World Heavyweight Championship! The title belt kept much of the same design as the original, albeit "polished up". It clearly brought a lot of pride to Heyman as he announced that in two weeks time they would crown their new champion. ECW was known for innovation; and Heyman vowed he wasn't done innovating. This title could only be won by the most extreme wrestler so in two weeks he would debut a new match to crown the new champion: Extreme Championship Warfare! 15 extremists will enter the ring where anything goes. A wrestler cannot quit, cannot submit, cannot be pinned - they go until they are tossed over the top rope to the floor. And when it is down to the last two competitors they will face off in an Extreme Rules match where a winner will be decided! While Heyman did not announce anyone who was competing, the final part of his announcement concerned who wasn't - Big Show. Due to the giant's recent actions, he would not be invited to the match. However he would be competing next in a handicap match!
Three-On-One Handicap Match
The Big Show Vs The FBI (Little Guido, Tony Mamaluke & Trinity) w/Big Guido
While the match was originally supposed to be two-on-one, Trinity stepped right up with her boys ready to battle. She refused the referee's pleas to leave the ring, and since Big Show was in agreement she was added to the match. The fiery Italians pounced as one on Big Show, a vendetta brewing since Show attacked The FBI a couple of weeks ago. While the tandem strikes were initially effective, it did not take long for Big Show to fight back and overpower the big mouthed Italians. Tony Mamaluke and Little Guido found themselves tossed around the ring with relative ease. Each time, Big Show bellowed "you will respect me!" Trinity did not watch on helpless, but even her daredevil attempts at intervention were thwarted as she found herself crushed to the mat by way of a big power bomb. The FBI could not mount an effective comeback, and both men fell victim to huge ring shaking chokeslams.
With the three count secured, Big Show didn't seem done. The seven foot athlete loomed over a helpless Guido, then hoisted the cruiserweight high. In one fluid motion, Show crushed Little Guido across his knee (in a Bane-like move) causing the smaller man to be left crippled on the mat. The crowd and commentary team were stunned to silence as the referee pounced. Big Show's murderous eyes then turned to his next victim: Trinity. Big Guido attempted to intervene only to be knocked out with a huge punch. As Trinity was then hoisted high overhead, the crowd waited on baited breath - until the appearance of Rob Van Dam!
Big Show's interference at Vengeance and involvement last week cost RVD his WWE Championship, and the martial artist was pissed. RVD arrived in time to cut the giant down to size, Trinity now safe from his clutches. The FBI regrouped at ringside, congregated around Little Guido who was in the process of being stretchered out. Big Show decided to cut his losses after taking one kick too many and retreated through the crowd, the damage done, while WWE-clad security guards dragged RVD off to the back!
Shannon Moore Vs Rene Dupree w/Kelly
The Prince Of Punk Shannon Moore made his high-flying debut on ECW On Sci-Fi, informing the crowd beforehand to "TRUST NO ONE" by way of a giant sign. Moore showed a certain level of intensity in the bout, his alternative aesthetic and death-defying display clearly winning members of the crowd over. Taz and Styles struggled to pin down Moore's politics and motivations though, especially when considering the messages he has displayed in recent weeks. Rene Dupree was the one who drew the real ire from the crowd as he forced Kelly to cover up with an oversized T-shirt once again. The French Canadian was boastful in his movements, but not fully prepared for the punk's aerial based assault.
After a back and forth contest, Shannon Moore picked up the big victory following a middle rope neckbreaker, and decided to celebrate amongst the more vocal section of the crowd. Dupree could do nothing but blame Kelly of course, the Frenchman having been distracted when he caught her speaking to Joey Styles out of the corner of his eye. Dupree loudly accused Styles, ignoring the legendary commentator's protests. As Dupree got heated (especially shouting at Kelly) there seemed to be one man who could not let that go. The Sandman made his way through the crowd, drinking as he went, until he reached the ringside area - and knocked Rene Dupree out with a big Singapore Cane shot! Kelly freaked out and attended to Dupree despite the recent mistreatment, while Sandman and Shannon Moore both celebrated with beer and the fans.
>>Smoke filled the dark room refracting the little light that pierced the chamber. The camera cut quickly between the various skulls, symbols and occult trinkets hung up, imposing a tone of their own. A makeshift alter took up the focus, on which a large leather-bound book sat, secured with a black chain. Ariel, the tarot reader, used the alter like a pulpit as she spoke softly to the Spirits, watched on by Thorn (Kevin Thorn) and The Mad Monk Who Walks The Realm Once More (Balls Mahoney). The duo waited in patient silence as Ariel continued her chants in a long dead language. She reached one part and turned to Thorn asking for "the blood of the innocent". Thorn produced a small, fluffy white puppy from a bag, and apparently broke this little dog's neck (off screen). As Ariel completed the ritual she demanded the two take The Vow: she asked a question and both independently replied, all of it in their strange language. To seal the promise, both drank blood from a silver goblet that Ariel offered. The ritual complete she then placed down a small photograph of their next target: Trinity of The FBI! "And so we rise, The Fallen Order, the hold the ancient power of blood. So sayeth the Spirits, so it shall come to pass"
>>In case anyone was wondering, we get an "earlier tonight" video played next as Rob Van Dam was being escorted through the building by security. Paul Heyman eventually caught up and allowed Rob's release. RVD predictably demanded a match with Big Show, but Heyman surprisingly refused - even after acknowledging Big Show is the sole reason RVD is no longer WWE champion. Heyman ranted on about protecting the brand, and that the show was the most important thing. He implored on RVD to be a team player, then gave the Michigan native a consolation prize: RVD could choose Big Show's opponent next week. RVD went from angry back to his cool, collected self. He had a plan. He told Heyman that he'd give his answer by the end of the night and walked off, this time without the security escort.
Tommy Dreamer vs Test w/Knox
While the Crimson Command announced last week that their contract was as good as fulfilled given the beating that the duo inflicted upon Tommy Dreamer, the latter's request for revenge did not fall on deaf ears. The imposing Knox (Mike Knox) stood a veritable guard at ringside, while Test looked to dominate in the ring. While before it would have been fair to say Test was somewhat reckless, or lacking in strategy, this could be further from the truth as his training seemed to pay off. Dreamer tried to build momentum throughout the match, but the big power moves from the mercenary took him down. Still, with the loyal crowd on his side Dreamer was able to rally the fans and build his comeback - but he could not secure the pinfall victory as Knox burst into the ring to save his partner from a DDT. The referee called for the disqualification, but The Command were not finished.
The Command handcuffed Dreamer's hands behind his back and used nightsticks to keep him under control, beating down the former ECW champion. The Crimson Command subdued Dreamer so that the man who originally hired them for the hit on Dreamer could come out and address his victim face to face. No one was pleased with the reveal - the bounty had been placed by none other than John Bradshaw Layfield! The millionaire brayed in laughter at having his enemy within his mercy, but Dreamer was clueless as to why JBL targeted him since the only information given was a bat upside Dreamer's head. With the lifeblood of ECW laying handcuffed, broken and bleeding, JBL did nothing but draw the hatred from the crowd as he laughed at his actions.
>>A small crowd had gathered around a street corner to watch the charismatic man (literally standing on a soap box) do what he does best: Preach. The man had an authority to his voice as he captivated the passing crowd - he shouted about God, but not of Hell, fire or brimstone - rather on how people need to look after themselves first and foremost. He used himself as an example: Elijah Burke, successful Preacher. He pointed out his expensive clothes, the money in his bank. He trusted in faith, kept evil off of his mind and The LORD PROVIDES! As Burke preached on, the camera caught sight of Private Investigator Matt Striker who sat on a bench nearby reading a newspaper. The title on the first page could be read: "SASQUATCH SPOTTED!" As The Preacher wrapped up his impromptu sermon (gathering his collection at the same time of course) Striker put down the paper and approached. The two hugged and laughed, old colleagues together again. Striker informed him they had a case: ECW. Apparently reports of some sort of secret conspiracy, but Striker brought what Burke would be most interested in: a vampire and a witch. While confirming he hated "goddamn witches", this new case excited Burke. He and Striker traded a friendly exchange of insults before Burke agreed. Striker Investigations would be back to what they do best: hunting down the evil hidden in the world.
Sabu vs Kurt Angle
ECW on Sci-Fi hosted another monumental main event as the Wrestling Machine Kurt Angle looked to continue his undefeated streak. Joey Styles was quick to remind viewers that it was not the streak that was dangerous about the Olympian, but rather the method he was achieving his victories. Angle had defeated several ECW extremists, as well as making very quick work of Randy Orton at Vengeance - all through his intense attitude. This was never clearer to see as extremist Sabu found himself taken to Suplex City throughout the contest. But the homicidal, suicidal, genocidal Sabu was no stranger to pain or tough combat, and using whatever means he could Sabu managed to survive Angle's onslaught. Sabu used his speed to build some counters, especially catching Angle off guard with springboards - but it seemed to be all for naught as Angle had a reply for everything.
But fans would be robbed of an appropriate ending for the contest though as former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam invaded the ring, a steel chair in hand. RVD blasted Angle with the chair taking everyone by surprise - but not as much as when he then blasted confused friend Sabu across the face as well! The official had no choice but to throw the match out. RVD grabbed the microphone to explain his actions: he wanted Big Show and Paul Heyman has refused! RVD said Heyman only cares about the show, about the brand - not about the extremists loyal to him. Well just like Big Show, RVD can ruin a main event too! RVD said he was given a consolation prize - he can choose Big Show's opponent next week. RVD warned Show that he wouldn't be leaving the building next week, as RVD has an opponent in mind - his former tag team partner. Next week Big Show will be in an Extreme Rules match against the big red machine, Kane!
Announced For Next Week:
>>Big Show will face off against Kane in an Extreme Rules match!
>>John Bradshaw Layfield has been invited by Paul Heyman to explain his actions!
>>The Sandman will battle Knox in a tables match!
>>Kelly will be joined in her Expose by her friend Katie Lea!
>>Plus Kurt Angle, Sabu, Thorn, Ariel and more!
