Team Madness (AJ Styles and Kevin Steen) vs.
King Corino and Prince Devitt
To be honest, I love the concept of Team Madness but it feels like it's not needed as much as maybe it was a few months back. No heel group seems that threatening currently. I mean Unnatural's group for example can take out any wrestler, or win any title going but it doesn't currently feel like an 'NWO taking over the whole company' kind of level of threat that would need a face equivalent to be formed in response.
In any case they probably need to win but Corino individually needs the win more than Team Madness I feel.
TAKA vs. Samoa Joe
Taka could do well with a win, against such a beast but yeah, it's not happening. If Joe is going to be as big as he ought to be, he can't drop matches to guys with a definite ceiling.
Rey Mysterio Jr. and Konnan vs. The Jung Dragons
Dragons will be over, even with a loss here but Konnan has had little to no credibility for a long time. His team wins and they will be able to be spun as dark horses for the Crockett Cup, at least in-universe, even though us readers know that wont happen.
Matt Hardy vs. The Destroyer
If this was early Destroyer, this would be tough. It is not though. I wouldn't be 100% surprised if you had shenanigans to maybe hand Destroyer an extremely cheap win.
Cruiserweight
Shootout for a shot at the Unified Junior Heavyweight Championship at
the Japan Supershow featuring Billy Kidman, Brian Kendrick, El Generico,
Paul London, Shane Helms and Volador Jr.
Even if he doesn't win the title match, he'll have bragging rights even being in the match and thus he's above others of a WCW cruiserweight level.
Bobby Roode vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (©) for the World Television Championship
Momentum, keep it with Nakamura. Plus I'm picking Regal to win the US title so a Naka/Regal US title match would be pretty great.
Chris Jericho and Lance Storm vs. The Dangerous Alliance (©) for the World Tag Team Championship
I don't really want to see The Dangerous Alliance take another hit here. Plus I bet you can spin something with Punk losing and Jericho/Storm losing into something with the 3 of them.
My expectation is probably that it's more likely the Thrillseekers win this and drive a wedge between Punk/Storm with him holding gold and Punk losing his belt. Still, for the sake of Sexy Shane Douglas, I'm hoping he keeps his gold here.
In any case, I don't really want to see the Dangerous Alliance losing serious credibility with a loss here.
Steven Regal vs. Bryan Danielson (©) in a No Time Limit match for the United States Championship
I'm looking for Nakamura vs Regal.
Goldberg vs. The Unnatural in a Steel Cage match
On one hand, I could see you figuring out shenanigans to keep Unnatural strong, with a win here. On the other hand I feel creative control, plus the lure of putting Eddie over Goldberg at some point, to solidify his reign as champion, would seem like a solid plan.
Eddie Guerrero vs. CM Punk (©) for the World Championship
Punk and Storm/Jericho can have a thing going, maybe Punk even gets a new partner and they have a decent length tag team feud. So that's Punk sorted.
Eddie can put on some great matches himself, as champion and I feel Goldberg could benefit with a heel champion to face. So they both win there.
How many championships will change hands?
2 titles. World and US.What will be match of the night? Guerrero and Punk natch.
I fully expect to be wrong on a few of these. Some make more sense going the other way but we'll see how I go.
