I am so glad to see this diary come over here, I was missing it!
It is almost heartbreaking to see that WCW fell to #2 in all the national battles. I would guess it is just because of losing Austin. At least the gap isn't substantial, meaning you are one big hiring, firing, or star being made or broken from dominating again.

Nice to see this back TFC. Look at Johnny Parisi getting that upper-mid push and look at Mortis ranking in national battles! I'm hoping there's some room in your heart for a big time push for Kanyon, but with your roster and personal issues (I think I remember him flunking drug tests in your save? Might be thinking of something else).
I don't know if I mentioned this at the time, but good luck with a Jeff Hardy heel run. They always feel really flat for me IRL, excited to see what you've got moving forward.

What’s left for The Unnatural after running Steve Austin out of WCW? How about defending his title against the other top star of the late ‘90s resurgence, Goldberg? We had Goldberg beat Eddie Guerrero in a #1 contender’s match (stemming from each guy winning a big singles match at SuperBrawl) to set up the main event for Slamboree. There was no physicality between champion or challenger at all during the build (though Destroyer did eat a spear when he got too close to Goldberg.) Unnatural did threaten to eliminate Goldberg just like he did to the last icon who “President Rhodes” sent after him (Austin), but Goldberg wasn’t worried on Piper’s Pit. He told Roddy that Salvation would not eliminate him from WCW, but if they got in his way HE would eliminate THEM. The UFS Semifinals were another big focus of the month. The top-seeded Dead Jesters got off to a good start against the #6 Uncrewed’s Crew when Akira Hokuto beat Aja Kong on Renaissance, but the Crew bounced back when Shane Helms scored an upset win over Shane Douglas (thanks to a Buff Bagwell/Paul Heyman argument providing a distraction.) Then RVD won a very good all-heel match against Christopher Daniels to put the Crew up 2 to 1. Paul London failed to close it out against The Enigma, who the Jesters named as a replacement for the #1 overall pick Steve Austin, so it falls to a deciding match between Eddie Guerrero and Matt Hardy. The other Semifinal saw the #2 Rated R Superstars jump to the lead when Goldberg beat Mortis of the #5 team The Limitless, but Yang beat Finlay to get the underdogs on the board. Over on Renaissance Meiko Satomura beat Daffney to put the Superstars one win away from the finals, but Kaz Hayashi knocked off Jamie Knoble to tie it at 2. AJ Styles will meet Sean O’Haire to settle it at Slamboree. There’s a tradition of the US champion challenging for the World title at Clash of the Champions, and we built that into the story as King Corino barged into the Dangerous Alliance locker room to challenge RVD to a title match. He came right out and said that he wanted the title so he could use it as a stepping stone for the World title match the following month. RVD and Heyman didn’t take kindly to that idea, but they did agree to give him the chance. We’re going with the Jung Dragons as challengers for True Heroes and the tag titles in what should hopefully be a great match. The Dragons insist that this will finally be their time, but the Heroes say they’ll be left with more of their useless “objections” after another failed title hunt. Bryan Danielson is back. He wanted to call out the guy he got injured against at Starrcade, RVD, but RVD and Heyman told him to get to the back of the line. After he won his return match, Colt Cabana and Bobby Heenan told him if he was smart like them he would have realized that he was now at the back of the line. They promised to educate him at Slamboree. Chavo Guerrero Jr. wanted to know why “lesser talent” were getting matches with consequences while he’s stuck with stuff not worth showing up for. President Dusty Rhodes asked if he would actually bother to show up if he was given a TV title #1 contender’s match. Chavo did indeed show up, and won a four way match to earn the shot at Slamboree. Rounding out the card is a bout between two of our young up and coming tag teams, Steenerico and the Calgary Bulldogs
This is the final show in a prediction contest, but unless any of you participated in the previous shows on GDS that won't mater much to you. Feel free to predict for fun if you want though, and then a new contest will begin with the next PPV I run. Yep, Austin's departure made all the difference between me winning or losing the national battle. I made a conscious decision not to match New Japan's offer though; I think the game world is more interesting this way, and that's my #1 concern. I'm sure you understand that better than most, considering the way you control multiple companies in your games. On the other hand I'm kind of regretting not re-signing Austin now with what's currently going on in my game, but you'll have to wait a day or two to see what I'm talking about there! Nice to see this back TFC. Look at Johnny Parisi getting that upper-mid push and look at Mortis ranking in national battles! Yeah, Kanyon has definitely had his issues (I think it was with drugs.) I could very easily plug him in as a main event guy if needed though. I have a long term plan with The Enigma that I hope will turn out well, but yeah, he doesn't have a great heel track record in real life!

Fan Scorecard: World Heavyweight Championship: Goldberg vs. The Unnatural {©} If memory serves me right, I think I picked Austin to win the gold. I guess I'm thinking that 1) You might have too many heel champions, and 2) With Enigma, Unnatural's gang may be a little too powerful. Goldberg wins, and hopefully goes into a program with Sean O'Haire. EDIT: I flipped my pick. I saw your note about the next news update, and now I'm worried Vince stole Goldberg.
World Tag Team Championship: Jung Dragons vs. True Heroes {©} I like the Jung Dragons, but I think both Storm and Punk are legit main eventers who challenge Unnatural if Goldberg loses. Keep em strong.
United States Heavyweight Championship: King Corino vs. Rob Van Dam {©}World Television Championship: Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. Brian Kendrick {©}
Ultimate Fan Series Semifinal Round: Eddie Guerrero vs. Matt Hardy Incoming Enigma...
Ultimate Fan Series Semifinal Round: AJ Styles vs. Sean O’HaireMakes sense to me if O'Haire with his posse defeat the posse-less Styles
Bryan Danielson vs. Colt Cabana I do love the Cabana/Heenan pairing
Steenerico vs. Calgary Bulldogs What will be match of the night? Goldberg/UnnaturalHow many championships will change hands? 1TIEBREAKER: How long was the main event? (minutes and seconds) It's Goldberg so let's say 10:38General diary comments/questions/critiques:

Goldberg - Not sure if you're going to go with a title change or not, but I can't see Dustin being able to topple Goldberg, no matter how many Salvations come into play. Jung Dragons - Probably will not go this route, but dammit I've been pushing for them for so long that I can't stop! TAKE THAT! Rob Van Dam - I won't mind which of these two the title goes to, but if RVD loses it then I don't see what you can do with the Alliance. The DA keeping a hold on the US title makes them a viable heel stable while they are still in the shadow of Salvation holding the main event. Chavo Guerrero Jr Eddie Guerrero Sean O'Haire Bryan Danielson Calgary Bulldogs

We signed Tony Mamaluke to a 2 year contract extension.
Elsewhere in the wrestling world:
I’m sure everyone in New Japan (as well as Antonio Inoki’s accountant) was holding their breath when Steve Austin noticeably limped to the back after one of his first matches in the company. It wasn’t anything serious though, which is lucky for them after the massive amount of money they invested in him.
Speaking of New Japan, their 32nd Anniversary show was a success. Steve Austin’s PPV debut saw him beat Takeshi Ono in a 92 rated opening match. Riki Choshu had a disappointed IWGP Heavyweight title defense against Yoshihiro Takayama that only received a 77 score from the experts, but at least they were smart enough to put it in the semi main. They let Koji Kanemoto close the show, and he delivered in a 93-rated Junior Heavyweight title defense over Hiroshi Tanahashi that was match of the night. Kanemoto has been tearing the house down, and at this point most agree that the Junior title feels like a bigger deal than the Heavyweight belt. If NJPW is smart, they’ll move into a Kanemoto/Austin feud for the big belt.
Keiji Mutoh signed a contract extension with AJPW. No surprise there.
This was already a pretty big news story, but I just simmed forward one day and another HUGE story happened. I can't just tack that one on at the end like a footnote, so there'll be a second piece of news before Slamboree.

Up to see how does the PPV do. Even though I prefer the show-by-show style of dynasty, you manage to tell the story pretty right. Would love to see The Unnatural come out with the title. I'm guessing O'Haire will win the tournament, too.

I'm kind of torn (probably the same as you were) about Flair leaving WCW here. On one hand, it feels like a huge loss, but on the other, he just isn't getting it done in the ring. Goldberg is a little different matter, as losing him will send your world rankings into a tailspin. Troubling times! Have to laugh at Bret saying Hunter has no place back in WCW again, and why would ol' "4/10" get a shot anyways?
