Dang, stinks to this one go, but I understand your frustrations. 3 years into a save is nothing is gawk at, so good job keeping this project lasting as long as it did and still making it fun!

I have zero interest in that. I fiddled around with the demo a bit when it came out, and it did not impress me. I'd already been pretty sure that 2016 would be my last GDS product before the demo, and it did nothing to change my mind. This save dying a death doesn't make me any more interested in TEW2020.
And even if it had, the fact that they're still using elicense would have been a dealbreaker for me at this point.

It is truly unfortunate that this one has to go, but understandable at the same time. I have never had any issues with elicense myself, but it is unfathomable how GDS hasn't worked to be more inclusive with their products. Hope to see you around with any type of project soon.
EDIT: Also, I did buy TEW 2020 when it came out without any experience playing the demo out of habit pretty much, and I have to say, I didn't ever feel compelled to play it. Maybe it's because there aren't too many interesting mods (to me at least) out yet with full features edited well for 2020, maybe it's because I'm too invested in my 2016 save still, but just the interface itself feels...wrong, compared to the older versions. Wrong is the only word I can find. It's just too much. Maybe my stance will change but I can definitely see your point of view, even moreso coupled with the elicense soap opera.

Yeah, oddly I'm a lot more confident that I'm not done doing this sort of thing as a hobby than I was a year ago, even with this save dead. My time with GDS products is likely finished, but there seems to be a resurgence of other people doing their own takes on creating wrestling sims like I can't remember since the EWR/Promotion Wars/PWSE days. I'm hopeful that the right combination of a new, fresh-feeling game and a well-done mod will come along sooner or later, and when it does, it's nice to know I've got a place to share my scribblings with everyone.
In the meantime I'll probably fiddle around with my New Japan Firepro thing when I have the time.

Also, if this is the end, can you tell us about the plans you had for the rest of the year? Maybe a little summary of the endings of every storyline?

Jeez elicense crap is going to kill off this master piece (no not Chris Masters) I'm not as active as I would like to be and I feel bad for that. That being said this dynasty has provided me with several years of entertainment and I want to thank you for allowing me to use your dynasty as an outlet to practice graphic design techniques. Thank you to Asaemon for helping me with fonts and paint.net questions as well.

My graphically inept ass has appreciated it more than you could probably even realize, so thanks again. As for me, even if this is the end for this particular dynasty, I'm confident that it won't be the end for me here. I'm ready for something fresh and not-TEW after well over a decade of this really being the only game in town. Fortunately there seem to be lots of new wrestling booking games popping up right now, so it'll just be about finding the right mix of a game that I enjoy and a mod that gets my creativity flowing, and then you should see me come up with something new. When that happens, it'll be right here on this forum. |

My man tg01 just reached out to me and showed me how to fix my elicense issue in about 5 seconds, leaving me feeling like a completely technologically inept dum-dum. But obviously the real story here is that I now have the ability to continue this save, if I wish. I was pretty excited about where things were headed before I ran into this issue, but now of course Lucas has announced PWP, and there seems to be incredible mod commitment to that already. Release obviously isn't imminent there though, and we DID end at a rather abrupt spot here. Maybe I'll try and pick this back up for at least a little bit. Making it through Starrcade would be cool, if I could pull that off. I'm not feeling ready to commit to anything yet, but we'll see. |
